Someone just suggested coming over to this location (I think mostly because of how close it was and they knew we couldn't go far with the fluid spraying out) We got in really quickly and the gentlemen was able fix the hose in a few minutes! Praise the Lamb! Off we are again! Oh! You can't email them, or message about it, you have to call this particular person. I called him and he was arrogant and rude. I inquired about seeing the vehicle and test driving it. The first thing he mentions is how we have to come to a deal before I can even test drive the car. I refused and he gave me some other bs lines. This is apparently one guy who wants to be in control of everything and not an actual dealership. I could have just bought the car out, but am not agreeing to buy a vehicle until I look it over and drive it. I don't recommend this place to anyone, specifically because of the rude owner.

He also said he'd gotten lots of calls about the car because it was new on his lot. I'm sure this was probably true so I had no problem Venmoing him $500 until we determined if this loan was going to be something I could live with. He also agreed to take cash in 2 payments about a week apart. More than once he mentioned he was glad I was paying all cash because that's what he preferred. Fast forward 2 days- I had thought about having a payment for $3k and decided I didn't want that plus I had no idea what the terms were so I called and offered $1900 less but all cash. He was having none of it, shamed me for essentially taking money from him & when I said ok just Venmo my money back, he told me it was non refundable. Um, nope, that was never discussed, this was in good faith on both of our parts. I emailed once with no different response then disputed it on Venmo. Today, I was given my money back!! Had seen reviews and Essy seemed widely respected. Gave him a call. He answered and I asked if he could fit me in. He apologized that he couldn't because he was at his daughter's graduation that day but that if I called back Monday he'd see if he could fit me in. I ultimately found another shop nearby that also had good reviews with immediate availability and it was a good experience, but just wanted to say how much I admired Essy answering my call. I felt like he did in case it was an emergency repair situation (it obviously wasn't), which definitely reflects what his customers say about him. And to apologize about his availability bc he was attending a major event for his loved one... being gracious and generous is definitely in his nature. So just wanted to share that :-)

I went in to get an oil change and a second opinion on $4,000 worth of repairs I was quoted from another mechanic. He checked everything and said there wasn't any issues. He had the chance to upsell me and he didn't. Not only am I grateful for his honesty, the customer service was fantastic, the waiting room was nice, and the price for the oil change was very reasonable. It's 12 degrees out, I'm driving, the heat goes out and shortly the car shows that it's overheating. The car was in the shop at IAM for 9 days, they replaced a fan they said was warped, and were about to remove most of the engine to get to a sensor. I had just talked to a co-worker about it and he said what I described was the water pump. Another co-worker came over hearing this and also said it was the water pump. I call them up and say "everyone I talk to says it's the water pump, why don't you check that". 2 hours later I'm told that my water pump was bad. I got charged (if I remember correctly) over $1000 for fans that were slightly warped, labor, water pump, etc. They replaced the water pump with the inferior VW one with the plastic impeller. It dies 1 year 3 months later. I really don't feel like listing out the list of what all I feel was done wrong to my car, perhaps IAM's a better place now. Perhaps years of learning how to work on a Beetle have jaded me. I think they might be closer to normal pricing for high-end cars, such as the wankle engine listed below, but I paid IAM a lot over a couple of years for a car that was probably worth roughly that, and i had to keep taking it back. I left and went to another shop in 2005, my car bills halved and my time between repairs extended greatly, although that could be that everything that was going to break broke and was replaced. I don't hate them, just not going back. They were nice people as I remember.

I already had a good idea of what the repair was going to cost, but I chose not to mention it upfront because I wanted to see what the final estimate would be. It ended up being exactly what I expected. There was one unexpected piece to the puzzle that neither of us anticipated, but they let me know about it right away. They asked for my permission before proceeding and took the time to walk me through why the repair was necessary and important. I even did a little research while we were talking and quickly realized they weren't exaggerating or trying to upsell me. They do charge a service fee upfront, but it's very reasonable, and they're completely transparent about it. I made an appointment, and they were able to get me in and out the very same day. Overall, I was impressed and excited to find a mechanic I trust and feel comfortable going to; especially since they're within walking distance of my home.
