Equinox Armonk Failed Me... Member since 2019, I've enjoyed the brand's facilities and standards in Midtown and later in Westchester. Unfortunately, my experience at the Armonk location has been beyond disappointing. On March 25, 2025, after a workout, I walked into what should have been a normal sauna session. Ten minutes later, another member decided to openly masturbate in front of me. It felt like this must be a thing, there are court records and news reports of repeated steam room incidents at other Equinox locations. Lucky me, I managed to leave quickly, towel tightly wrapped, just trying to protect myself. I reported it immediately. The staff shrugged. The manager, Jamie Nicastru, wasn't even told. No report was written. And the police station down the road? Might as well have been on another planet for all the urgency anyone showed. For months I've asked to be allowed to identify the guy so I could press charges. Instead, management has played a bizarre game of corporate hide-and-seek, dodging responsibility while still happily billing me every month. I've now had to escalate this to Equinox's General Counsel after months of bad customer service and a total disregard for member safety. What worse could happen in a place where leadership is this careless? Hard to say, but I wouldn't want to find out. Equinox markets glossy luxury and family-friendly branding. In Armonk, the reality is a club where sexual harassment in the sauna gets a shrug, all while the place is full of teens and high schoolers. Parents should be very concerned. Luxury? I have to say although this gym is great it has become one large after school program. High schoolers run the place and sit around talking and generally doing nothing. Although this is not the fault of Equinox, and more the parents of these spoiled children. Girls wearing practically nothing sit around taking up benches and flirting with boys. Wow. read more

The facility is big and clean. That's the positive. I've had numerous experiences with the staff & management (especially the General Manager Jamie) being rude and unknowledgeable. Some staff members don't even speak English. If I'm in the area, I'll skip my work out for that day rather than endure this club. Hopefully district management can look into making much needed staff improvements. read more

This location does not offer enough amenities to justify their monthly membership fees. This location is small, does not have a sauna or pool - overall this facility does not compare to other gyms in the area for the same price or less. After politely declining the sales associates offers, I've received upwards of 10 emails asking if I'm still interested. It's become borderline harassment, I've asked numerous times to be removed from their email lists and they continue to blow up my inbox. I have had a horrible experience with this gym. I signed up agreeing to a 3 month deal and being able to cancel anytime prior, I was told that would be okay. And to no surprise at time of cancellation that wasn't allowed. Despite repeatedly expressing my discontent and saying how I was told otherwise I was told I had to pay my remaining 2 months. Horrible management and customer service, meanwhile i've paid a month and a pro rate already so $273 and went 2x.... I wouldn't go to this gym for they are just another gym looking to rip money from your pockets. read more

I was a member at the Saw Mill Club for about 6 months, and while it was a clean and lovely facility, it did not have the variety of strength training equipment I was interested in, so when I heard that there was an Equinox nearby, I decided to give it a trial run, and literally joined the next day. I've had an awesome time and settled into a routine very quickly. They have a huge variety of kettle bells, machines, med balls, multiple deadlift platforms, an entire warmup area, and a sled. All winning things in my book. I wish they had more TRX straps that people could set up, but they do have two, and the gym is small enough that I haven't experienced any real wait times on equipment. The trainers are definitely present, but they're not hard on the upsell. There a distinction between floor trainers (blue shirts) and trainers (black shirts), and they're equally as nice. The locker room is really nice and clean, and I've also used the spa for a massage, and it was lovely. read more

Recently moved to the area and wanted to join a gym that had multiple locations since I'm in and out of the city. It took me a while to get the courage to go back into a gym even after I joined bc of being out of shape from the recent events. This gym is so spacious and never crowded . I left feeling accomplished after the first day . I was looking for a gym that felt more luxurious like a spa to workout in and to relax after . This gym definitely has that . The locker room is clean and the details of the gym from the equipment to the variety of classes plus an easy to use app to motivate you at home + book a class is perfect . There is a steam room & spa available to go to before or after a workout . Signing up is easy to do online or in person . I had a complementary palates session with Doreen and it was absolutely amazing I will be signing up for that ! Although I have access to all Equinox locations , I would need to pay more $$ to have access to the Hudson yards location . Which is upsetting with how much I pay already . If you like luxury like me and want to join the gym to get in shape + get healthy , join classes and relax after , I would highly recommend equinox . The one star review is specifically for Equinox Armonk. I am generally pretty happy with my overall Equinox experience in all other locations in general. My beef specifically is with the Armonk location. One night last year (2017) I had just gotten back from the city from work and figured I'd stop to work out before heading home. I was sitting in the locker room changing when all of a sudden this kid in his early 20s, accompanied by club staff stormed into the locker room, approached me and asked to see my wristwatch which I was wearing. I was a bewildered as to what was going on and he immediately started saying he had just lost a watch like mine, and I should "take it off and give it to him". I immediately refused and told him he was being ridiculous. I asked if the assistant manager allowed members he knew to hassle other member and ask to confiscate other members' personal properties, to which the assistant manager basically said he was not getting into disputes between members and didn't want to get involved. Furious as to what was going on, I told the other guy to go screw himself (with a more colorful language), and asked if this was club policy to allow members to harass other members at will. The kid then produced a picture on his phone of him wearing the said watch, which is the similar model of Rolex watch I was wearing, but with a different colored dial. Being a bit of a watch geek and collector myself, I pointed this out to them and immediately told them again to go screw themselves, only to be told that the police is coming to handle this. I was extremely furious and upset at this point. When the police officer came, I immediately pointed out the ridiculousness of their claims to the police officer, who then told both of them that this is not how the police handles theft matters and escorted the other member out. At this point, the assistant manager Joey realized he's screwed up, and wanted to talk to me in private. When we've gotten in the office, Joey immediately started shifting blames and said that I should not have gotten upset. I rebuffed and said told the assistant manager that the entire matter was entirely his fault, and he should not have allowed members to be harassed in the first place. He kept on dodging my points and kept on trying to shift blames, and offered lame and half hearted excuses. The general manager Jamie emailed me the next day, and offered to meet. However she could not make time to meet with me until much later. When we did meet, she basically told me the family of the other member who committed a offense was a "long time friend of hers" and has been with the club for a long time, and how he was sorry and basically wanted me to let this one go. She offered NOTHING to compensate for my negative experience. This club bills itself as a equinox, but at it's heart it is "The Gym" from Armonk, with an equinox sign on top of it. The club staff and management are left over from "The Gym". If you are a legacy member of "The Gym" club management will basically do whatever they can to let you get away with anything. As an Asian American and one of the only few non Caucasian members of the club, I can't help but feel discriminated against. My membership experience and right as a member are simply not valued compared with those who've been left over from "The Gym" My experience here at Armonk is inconsistent with my experiences at other Equinox locations. I am generally pretty disgusted with this whole matter but I honestly don't have time to escalate this further as there are more important priorities for me to deal with in my life. I am an all access member (including destinations) at equinox and to me, paying the $300 a month fee is chump change given the convenience (close to home / office, and in many big cities) of consistently having a good place to work out. I'd hate the hassle of having to look for an alternative. So why am I writing this review here almost one year after this whole incident had taken place? What prompted me to do this was during the March 2018 storm, I've received no communication from Armonk on the status of whether they are open. I had to call Greenwich and Scarsdale to find out what is going on with Armonk, which is a pure waste of my time and extra brain damage I don't need. I guess this is the last straw that made me spend the past 20 minutes writing this review because I think my experience is relevant and someone needs to be held accountable. Not sure what will make these guys care more about membership experience. Perhaps complaining publicly will do the trick. Other than the Armonk, my experiences all other Equinox locations from have been nothing but positive. read more

in between classes in the yoga studio, the cleaning crew comes in to clean. They use the same dirty mops on the mats as they do on the floors! The mats are wet, dirty and gross after this. it goes on between every class. Members have asked the club numerous times to please stop doing this. The members are stuck switching out the mats or putting blankets over them so we don't have to use wet dirty mats. I can't understand why they have the cleaning crew using dirty floor mops to clean our mats! read more

It's a decent gym. Overall, it's clean and well-maintained, convenient for local residents, with ample free parking, polite staff, usually not too crowded, caters to a professional type of gym membership, free towel service, spotless locker room (built in locks) which includes all the amenities, with plenty of cardio equipment, plenty of free weight equipment, and plenty of various exercise classes, and a basketball court, etc. It's, of course, premium priced. The negatives are the lack of high quality and quantity of strength training machines and also the club is geared towards personal training to drum up revenue, so there is plenty of empty space. Also the food/protein shake area is exorbitantly priced. Management will thoughtfully listen to all of your suggestions, but in the end make no changes or improvements, and instead offer you a free training session. read more

I loved Equinox for 12 years the weight equipment and weight room is excellent and the gym is extremely nice inside, especially the locker room, steam room and showers, there are always a team of people constantly keeping everything nice and clean, that is a positive. Also the staff is great. However a con for me was that the classes rarely change, it became boring, i found myself going to Soul Cycle and Barrys Boot camp, or Rippedfit to try and switch it up. I workout everyday for 2 hours at a time and have been doing so for a long while, i found that my favorite class was Tuesday with Lisa G and Thursday with Lisa G after that, the kickboxing class on Wednesday is always the same for years and so is the Friday class, I needed a change, and that why I left. read more

It's very pricey for just a gym, but it is very clean and has a great locker room. Weight room has a lot of great equipment and their cardio equipment is adequate. They have a full court basketball court, some Boxing bags and Spinning and aerobics which are all pretty good. Staff is friendly. Management is slow to act on anything, but they have no competition, so they get 4 stars. read more

I've got to say the classes are pretty amazing and you definitely have a variety to choose from! The staff when you walk in so amazing too! They are very welcoming. The only issue that really bothers me is some people there have this superior attitude and so do the clients there. Hate to say it...but definitely get a bit of discriminated feeling as someone who is one of the only NON-CAUCASIAN people. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Locker rooms are fantastic, showers (water pressure and Kiehl's products) practically make the price worth it on their own, and the weight area is well-stocked in terms of benches, racks, etc. Weights are frequently being racked by the staff, which speeds up the workout experience. If you got the $$$, this is a great gym to join. Nice variety of new equipment, plenty of cardio machines and plenty of variety of weights so that you can mix up your workout from day to day. Big open floor plan is a little intimidating, but also usually gives you room to do your thing. Nice showers/locker room, good variety of classes, and though I didn't use it, it's nice to see an attached PT clinic. To make sure you get the most out of the fancy equipment, the trainers there are really top notch. I learned more about my own strength and flexibility in 4 personal training sessions than I've even thought to investigate in 12 years of competitive and recreational sports. The trainers know how the body works, how it moves, and how to use the gym to target exactly what you want to do. Even when I wasn't in a training session, trainers would come up and give me tips when they noticed I was doing something inefficient or potentially harmful. The supportive trainers help you get your money's worth every time you go. My only problem is that the weekday mornings tend to be very crowded, so it's hard to plan out a circuit before you get there and see what's available. The big space is great if it's empty, but when it's busy it often feels like people are walking right through your workout. I've heard it's less packed in the evenings, so if you're an evening exerciser then Equinox will give you more than enough to get in great shape read more

Good location right off the highway in Armonk. I'm an all access member and went here on a weekend visiting family in Westchester. Overall, you expect a superior level of service from pretty much any Equinox you visit and Equinox Armonk is no different. Everything was clean and in good working order. Yes, membership is pricy but if you can afford it, this is definitely the best option to choose. read more

Had to cancel credit card on file after refusal to cancel membership. I was out of contract also. The whole franchise is running a scam. They require a 45 day waiting period before cancellation. Staff is amazing. I love the juice bar. I had a banana strawberry protein shake. It was great. The facilities are clean and trendy. They put on a fun time for kids parties as well. Definitely a good spot to join for a gym. Great parking as well. read more

This is an awkward review. Equinox kind of wins by being the "best" gym in the area and Armonk is the best of their facilities in the region (Scarsdale should be shut down & Greenwich is uneven and very crowded). The plusses: clean locker rooms, large open space, generally nice staff Issues: is seems that real complacency has set in over the last few months. As others have commented, they seem more concerned with decor than with correcting issues. Some of the cardio equipment is worn out and overdue for repair and/or replacement, the free weight area is frequently a mess (and some personal trainers contribute to the mess), they take feedback but don't seem to act on it. If you consider using their personal trainers exercise caution on who you pick as they range all over. Some seem very concerned with their clients and are attentive. Others are setting people up for really serious injury. My bottom line: if somewhere came along that offered a clean, sanitary locker room and a gym floor set up for people who want to train I would likely switch. read more

I joined when it was "The Gym" before Equinox bought it ...I'm very unimpressed with the Equinox "upgrades". They eliminated about half the weight machines, and replaced them with nothing except empty space. They have redecorated several times and seem to be more focused on looking like a trendy restaurant than being a fitness club. Now they just raised the rates, I guess to pay for all the redecorating... I'm quitting as soon as my membership is up in a month. read more

I also joined like one of the other reviewers when it was The Gym and was perfectly happy, Some of the new machines are nice but other than updating the decor and making it look like a 1970's tacky hotel, some of the new furniture looks like they bought it in Target. Ripped out perfectly good granite, and installed similar looking but more tacky granite, the ugliest gold tile I have ever seen and added some more showers and yep up went the rates. If it were not so close to my office I would leave. read more

This is an expensive but beautiful gym, the problems are not apparent until you start taking classes. The teachers are FAR more interested in working out for themselves than helping anyone in the class. The classes are VERY crowded and you can not really see them. They really need to go around the room and help correct the student in the class. Lisa G. is a terrible teacher although she has a following of students.
