The Groov3 dance class here every Tuesday evening @ 8 pm taught by Christine Engelfried is one of my favorites in LA! She is the besssst. She is so genuine, fun, funny, kind and bursting with energy and at the same time also humble. She is my dance goals. Also, the new Dance! class every Friday night @ 6:45 pm taught by Jayen is amazing! Jayen is so naturally hilarious and also a naturally a great dance instructor. His class is a blast! I love his Cooreo. Both classes are great for all levels, which makes me comfortable because I mess up a lot and I sometimes forget Cooreo steps, however, these instructors are patient and they go at a pace that works for everyone. read more

Well at least it's a convenient place to shower! I'm truly mystified how often the bikes are failing. Spent a few minutes wiping down 1 and the crank is broken, disinfected another one and the audio and cable connection is out. Maybe I just should clock in and wipe them all down then repair them. Clean facility. All the staff are super nice. The personal trainers all look on point. I like that this place isn't packed at all. I come during rush hours and I'm still able to get a squat rack. All the equipment is new and all the trainers are there to help. I came here because of my ex-trainer, Jorge. If you want a really good workout, definitely ask for him! Ariga is cool too. She's in memberships. So if you have any questions, she'll be able to help. Nice thing too... They validate parking. No need to pay for parking here. Literally blown away by this new Equinox gym! I came here to try out the ropes and rowers class and it was top notch. This gym had everything from top of the line rowers, equipment, classes and awesome staff to massage tables with staff that is trained to stretch you out and eucalyptus infused cold towels. The locker rooms have spas , eucalyptus steam rooms, locker with individualized locks for all members, clean individual showers with amenities, and hair/lotion products with dryers. Very satisfied with what this gym has to offer and strongly recommend it to anyone who has the money to afford it! Lovely Gym but it's located a bland corporate park and unfortunately, it's run by unresponsive and impersonal corporate culture. One of the personal trainers went rogue and basically stole sessions from a number of members. I was charged for two sessions that I didn't have, basically $300. The management would not refund me, they would only give me a credit for two more sessions. That's unacceptable and tone-deaf to client's needs. Honestly one of the worst equinox's I ever went to. I asked if I can try some classes and the manager Don told me that since I was already a member (3 years ago at a different club) I could try one class. This was after the membership advisor told me I could do a week trial. How am I supposed to know if I'm ready to pay $200 a month if I tried the gym for a few hours. Total B/S. While the gym is new, equipment is great, location is perfect for me, management of this gym needs substantial improvement. First of all, when it opened months ago, the reception staff were awful with no hospitable spirit in them, no smiles, no nice greeting words. I was shocked because this is Glendale, not WeHo. Even in WeHo, they have better greeting staff! That side seemed to improve a bit during the past months but they can still improve more. Classes are great but the scheduling could be done better in my opinion. But the real problem is the general manager. Often time, I see him lounge around, or work out on the floor, or even lounge in the steam room. Seriously, is he working? Maybe because he's so busy working out and spending time in the steam room, he's not there to oversee his staff making sure they greet and respond to the clients properly for they pay premium for these things. This review is strictly about the staff / management and how they handled extremely poorly our massage appointments. My wife decided to surprise me with a massage at Equinox in Glendale for Father's Day, which I was thrilled about considering I have pretty bad back pain and rarely get massages. She booked one for me, one for her (because she has nerve damage) 5 days in advance. We were told there was plenty of availability and were scheduled at the same time. A day before our appointment, my wife received a call, telling her her appointment had been moved 1h30 minutes after mine. This was already unnerving, and we were told NO GOOD REASON. A manager was supposed to call her, but they never did. We showed up on Father's Day, having to pay a sitter to watch our kids, to get our massages, and for no apparent reason, BOTH our appointments were CANCELLED! NO ATTEMPT was made to accommodate us, the staff was evasive, not even apologetic. The on-site manager avoided us, and pretty much went in hiding once she heard we were complaining (she came back out when we left, and when she saw me outside, went back in hiding). We ended up having to leave to release our sitter, back pain and all. This was without a doubt one of the poorest customer service experience I've had, and for a company with such a reputation as Equinox, I can't believe how they so POORLY handled our appointments. My wife and I were looking forward to getting a break on Father's Day, we ended up going home. I've been a member for over a year now, and she still helps me out when I need it. She signed up me and a few of my coworkers.. It was a great and she made it a easy decision but was not pushy. The gym is CLEAN. A little crowded at times.. nothing compared to the other gyms nearby though. Locker rooms are clean, maintenance is on top of it. I too love this gym! Been a member of other type gyms but none compare. From my initial site tour, to the complimentary pass experience, I was hooked. My wife felt the same and within days we committed to joining. Shant Fournouzian, our membership advisor has been key to our introduction to classes and trainer assessments. Equinox Glendale provides complimentary 2 hour parking, clean and well stocked showers and changing rooms. Plenty of day lockers. Spa like atmosphere. Excellent classes - The instructors are fantastic, motivating and enjoyable to attend. Yoga, cross fitness, Tabata and spin classes are our favorites. Easy to lose a half day in this endorphine enriched spa like gym. Everyone is friendly, courteous and adaptive. Highly recommendable and extremely addictive. read more

I don't have any complaints about facility either, it's a beautiful place with quality classes and absolutely spotless but Azeem made us feel so important for him and his facility and patiently listen to us. We had a small car accident and unfortunately couldn't do any workouts for a while but our account was charged due to misunderstanding between us and ex employee (not important in this case). Let's be honest, a barbell is a barbell, whether you work out at Planet Fitness ($10 a month) or here ($140 a month). What the extra $130 is buying you is smaller crowds and a locker area that doesn't smell like ass. And that's exactly what you get here. Plus the staff is very nice. That said, there are some problems. There are only two squat racks, and one of them is always occupied by a personal trainer training a client, and the other is always occupied by a personal trainer training himself. (There's one trainer in particular who's working out every time I'm there, which either means he's always working out, or our schedules are magically in sync, like menstrual cycles in a dorm.) Another annoyance: all the weight benches face a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, which makes for a lovely view of the 134 freeway, but it also means that for a few hours every day lying on any of these benches means the blinding sun is melting your eyeballs. You'd think one of the dozen or so employees on the floor would notice this and lower the blinds, but nope, never happens (it doesn't help that half the blinds are missing cords and thus can't be lowered.) Also, the floor outside the showers is slippery as hell. The showers are clean though. And I guess the eucalyptus towels are a nice perk, but let's not get too excited, it's just a wet towel. The classes look excellent too, although I've never taken one, because I don't believe in paying people to yell at me. read more

Thinking of rejoining, after Eq I must say other gyms just don't give me the vibe I want while working out. I guess to me it is worth the expense... I just don't like the pushing of the personal trainers. I did purchase a package for 12 sessions... Its quite expensive, and they still try to sell you other benefits. This location is small and has no pool, but hey its still worth the eucalyptus towels. This gym just isn't for the light of pocket, I spent 100 bucks on a gym shirt here. I was however very please with the member parties that EQ host, they are very good for business professionals to socialize and gain potential clients. My first month as a member here I was scouted by a photographer to shoot for a high end denim company. Who I am now very good personal friends with. Was a member and got out as quick as could be. A lot of great people work and train here, but I had a bad experience with my trainer. Had 3 free trainings on initiation and after my first one, I told the trainer I was not interested in purchasing any additional beyond my three. Vibe changed to a negative. I wasn't contacted. I emailed the manager of training about it and received no response or apology. It's sell sell sell the training. I'm already paying 149 a month. If I want training I'll ask. I also received a birthday email stating I could get 25% off a massage including 25% off I get after initiating membership. When I went to cash this offer in I was told by the spa manager " sorry I wrote that email wrong " After set up with couples I got a 100$ that would be refunded back to my card. When it hadn't I called and was told " sorry our system was messed up but I'll gift card it back to you. They offered me a gift card to replace it. When I said nooo it suppose to go back to my card, they said what's the difference just use it for your membership fee. Sure I could do that, but a professional company does what it says. I also see a lot of people that are allowed to be yapping on their cells when working out while there is a clear sign you cannot. I have even see people get into verbal in your face confrontation over it. I'm trying to work out here. Working out for me should be peaceful, joyous, and without bother. Can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review for my favorite gym. People who know me think I'm insane for paying the membership fee to be part of this gym. Well... for people like me who love classes, it really pays to frequent this gym! The facility is cleaned around-the-clock. They offer eucalyptus towels which smell and feels amazing after a good cardio session. There's space to cycle, run, stretch, lift weights, dance, box, do yoga, and pilates. The staff is really cool and friendly. One of my favorite things about this location is the Earth Bar... yumm. I've taken a pilates class and felt like it was great. The pricing for the private training and pilates is a bit steep, in my opinion. The locker rooms are super convenient. There's even a sauna inside. All the products offered are Kiehl's. It pains me to say that I wanted to hate this gym. In general, I dislike gyms. Really. I'm a super outdoorsy person, and prefer to get my sweat on pedaling on the street or the dirt, running on trails, climbing mountains, snowboarding, and practicing yoga outdoors in meadows or breweries (whichever comes first ;). And for the past several years, I've either exercised outdoors, or practiced yoga in studios focused on just that. Recently, I seriously injured my tailbone, which left me unable to do a lot of the things I love outside. Around this same time, my friend and client, a member at the Glendale Equinox was RAVING about it. "Look, you'll deal with some chicks in full makeup and total hardcore workout dudes and a lot of pestering about personal training, but the parking, the facility, the availability of equipment, the locker rooms, the classes, and the eucalyptus towels make up for all of that," she said. My friend set me up with the three day trial through Deborah (a non-pushy, down-to-earth, athletic sales angel.) I did the three days, hoping to hate it. Again, I really wanted to not join. I struggled to find the parking lot behind the building, I walked in to three other buildings before finding the gym itself, and despite the folks checking me in on the first day being super kind and friendly, I cursed under my breath when I saw a man-bunned buffed out dude with full sleeves working out harder than I had since my 20s. He was probably in his 20s. But when I walked into the locker room, hit the ellipticals and the weights with no waiting, not a soul really paying attention, and took a shower thereafter, my mind started to change. Day two was next level. As a yogi for two decades who hopes futilly for spiritual enlightenment only to be crushed by my judgy and road ragey ways, I was pretty much basing whether or not I would join on the yoga classes. I've had a vinyasa, hatha, and bikram (hot yoga) practice for a long time, and was totally expecting the classes to suck. Not so. See how crappy I was?? I showed up at Chris Reed's Tuesday 12:30pm heated vinyasa flow class, and after 20 minutes, all my judgment, anti-luxury-gym bias, and unwarranted vitriol faded into pools of sweat on my mat. Chris sealed it for me. I was in. And while I regularly lament the music choices by yoga teachers, Chris's playlist could have been my own. I even followed him on Instagram that night. #yogistalker. By day three, I contacted Deborah and said I was ready to sign 12 months away for 152.00 per month... more than I've spent on a gym in my life. And you know what? I've gone almost every day since then (a week ago), and loved every minute. Tomorrow is another yoga class, and some fun out there in the weight room. And word to the wise? Tabata classes are no joke. My tailbone should not have signed up for the rowing, but it felt great in the moment. And I'll be back ERGing away once it's fully healed. Here's to leaving judgment behind, and surrendering to the truth. Equinox is not just a luxe gym for the six figure set. I've been coming here for almost a year now. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles for the price you pay. But the staff is amazing. Their equipment is pretty standard. Too bad they don't have a pool but their classes are great. They offer yoga, Pilates and cycling classes to name a few. Classes fill up quickly so get in early to find a decent spot. Busy times are between 6-8 am and 5:30-8pm. Locker rooms are clean. They also have a steam room and a spa. They carry Kiehl's product which is nice. They need softer towels and better blow dryers . I have an All Access membership to Equinox, so I have worked out in many of their clubs, on both coasts. I use the Glendale club because it is so convenient to my work, but that is the only reason I use it. I gave it 2 stars because the front desk is so friendly and the club is really clean. However, I have never seen so many rude men in the weightroom. They totally monopolize all the freeweight stations by loading them up with 45# plates. I injured my back to the tune of $5,000 medical bills trying to remove them one time, and won't be doing that again. They also put their stuff on the very few benches that are provided so you can't even use those. Basically they are creating their own club within a club. I complained to management, but they obviously don't care. There is absolutely no supervision in the gym. Trainers monopolize most of the other space or they just sit on other equipment texting or whatnot. This is so unlike every single other Equinox I use. Even the 24 Hour Fitness reminds people to restack their weights! And they have people monitoring it. And we have limited parking. So what do a number of these guests do? They park diagonally across two spaces. Just the lack of civilized manners is amazing - did these guys just get out of prison or something??? read more

Just signed up for this gym a couple of weeks ago. The facility is nice. The one star is for my experience so far in dealing with a personal training session I cancelled. As a new member, they offer a free training session which I took last Saturday. I ended up scheduling some follow on sessions with the trainer which was placed on her calendar. I was not informed that being added to the calendar would mean that I would be automatically enrolled in automatic payment per session ($115) until I purchase a package. Anyway, what the trainer told me was to go downstairs and buy a package. I went downstairs and prepared for the purchase where I learned about the package prices. I then asked the receptionist if I could think about it, to which she said yes. On Monday, I texted the trainer and told her I've decided to hold off on the sessions, but I didn't hear back. Later that day, I saw an email warning me of the impending $115 charge unless I purchase a package. I then called the front desk and told them that I had cancelled my sessions and they guaranteed that I wouldn't get charged. The next day, the trainer called me and confirmed the cancelled sessions. That evening, I saw the charge hit my bank account as an incoming charge. I then called the front desk again and got a promise that it will get resolved. I also emailed the sales rep and personal training manager. The personal training manager never replied, but I did get a reply from the sales rep apologizing and confirming that he has asked the general manager to address the issue. To their credit, the general manager responded quickly and said that he has refunded the session and that I should see this reflected on my account within the next 24-48 hours. This was yesterday. Tonight I checked my bank account and saw that the charge was NOT refunded but got posted on my account! I emailed the general manager and he responded "The refund was processed on a club level. It typically takes 4-7 business days before you see the refund on your statement. Sorry for the inconvenience once again but you will see the refund". I'm now beyond annoyed with this place and beginning to regret signing up. I deal with enough bullshit at work and don't need it from a gym that costs me $150/month! I'm already having problems with the management of this place just in my first couple of weeks. I don't even want to think about what's gonna happen throughout the rest of the year! Ugh. read more

Horrible gym and Managment. When it comes to signing you up they say anything and everything to get you to sigh up but they never go through with what they say. I was dealing with Sean. Stay away!!!! I have called multiple times over the past year every few months to see what happened to the free month he promised and every time he says he is so sorry and the gm will put it in and never does. The past month he started not answering my calls and never returning my phone calls I am done with this place and the service they provide there clients we are paying way too much to be treated this way!!!! Stay away from Shawn and equinox Gledale As for the facility it is so over rated it's unbelievable for the price you are paying it is soooo not worth it. The classes are horrible mediocre instructors horrible times that never fit a person schedule who works 8-5 or 9-6. The locker room is nice but you always have people on walkie talkies yelling and arguing in a different language which ruins the mood. The only reason this place is worth it would be the steam room which is great. Trainers are just there to take your money as soon as they realiZe your not signing up. It's good bye!!!!! Fitness has never been high on my list of priorities. Sadly, food always has. In an effort to counter-balance my affair with food and my vanity, I joined Equinox over a year ago. While I have been a member at a number of gyms through the decades, and have been personally trained by the best of them, I have never felt at home, or at ease at any gym until recently. I'm a transplant from the Pasadena location so I was accustomed to the luxuries afforded by an Equinox membership, but this location feels different. The facility is immaculate and the staff is welcoming. This gym is very spacious, modern and spa-like. I won't do a run down of all the perks offered here as many reviewers before me have adequately done so. I would like to instead cast a very bright light on Richard Recio, my personal trainer. Richard is enthusiastic, congenial, diligent and above all attentive. I had no intention of purchasing training sessions as I generally abhor being told what to do and what pace to do it with. However, Richard's friendliness and availability to aid me in my routine solo workouts won me over. He quickly learned what fueled my need for a workout, and lured me in into training by channeling his inner guru to motivate me appropriately and without the "telling me what to do" approach. Training with him has been productive and "personal." At no point have I felt that he is checking off a list of routines for me. Everything is tailored (or dumbed down) to accommodate my strengths and weaknesses. I look forward to our sessions not only because I feel physically better and stronger, but because of how much fun we have together. We are literally LOLing the entire hour, even when we're boxing. He tolerates my complaints, quirks and jokes, and secretly enjoys them. He even goes the extra mile to assist and guide me on our off hours. I feel empowered and grateful... Thank you Richard! Generally a good facility to work out. However the staff and members are not. I get that the membership is high and people feel privileged to be a member but man it's $160 that's not that privileged lol. I've been a member of other high priced gyms and I've never seen the attitude I've seen with these members. And the staff, I mean you work at the club, not own the club. The front door staff act like bouncers. It's that typical 'give me a job and let me express my authority in the worse way possible' attitude. Again, facility is nice and the equipment is new. Best thing to do is put on headphones so you drown out the attitudes and get in a good workout. I cancelled after a year there. Oh and they never solved the parking issue where the validation they do at the front desk sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. 5 stars for Toni Fuller, the pilates instructor / 4 stars for the overall gym (4.5 stars blended) (I'm prefacing this review by saying I haven't taken a group class here and have not received any personal training session here besides my one-on-one pilates session with Toni.) I tried a one-on-one pilates session with Toni last week and being completely new to pilates, I had no idea what to expect. I usually just lift when I come here using free weights and machines and do HIIT sessions on my own. My first experience with pilates was extremely positive under Toni's watch. My core was thoroughly thrashed during my session and Toni would patiently remind me to correct my movement whenever my form started to deteriorate. My ideal personal trainer is one who is a form Nazi without actually being a Nazi dictator. As a client, you are paying to be corrected by a trainer and I've heard and seen way too many trainers who are either too lenient or too impatient with their trainees. Toni was stern when it came to maintaining proper form but her reminders were done in a very patient and understanding fashion so she provided the perfect amount of balance I was looking for. I'm no pilates guru so I can't make any comments about the depth of Toni's pilates knowledge and acumen but given my experience with her, I'm pretty sure both newbies and veterans of Pilates will benefit from her private sessions. The good thing about this gym is that it's a newer and clean Equinox with "built in lock" lockers. They even updated the soap dispensers in the restroom recently since the first ones were pretty poorly designed so this shows the gym pays attention to detail here. However, I'm taking away a star for 3 reasons. First, the ceilings here are pretty low so you can't do muscle-ups on the pull up bars unless you don't mind smashing your head into the ceiling tiles. Lol. Secondly, they don't have some of the bench press machines which are pretty common at most large gyms. Lastly, the knurling on some of the barbells are among the roughest I've used in my life. I have 2 other gym memberships so I'm able to make the most out of my weekly workouts but you would expect these little things to be remedied for the membership dues you're paying at Equinox. Even with these minor shortfalls, my overall view of the gym is a positive one and an extremely positive one when it comes to Toni. read more
