The membership advisors will discriminate you and assure you they give zero damns of what you pay as they know they will be fired in 4 months, which makes it hard for the team to have a good relationship with their members as other locations do. Shrek the GM is a scam master. If you are planning on signing up or just want to check it out. Take the extra 10 minutes to drive to either Pasadena or !Hollywood! Showers here are no existent, there is no water pressure and the trickle that does come out is either cold or extremely hot... no middle Do bring flip flops, thongs, slides anything to protect your feet from the unsanitary floors. And the secretion filled shower floors. Showers will reek of sewage and the steam room is in fact falling apart and will have pieces of grout just chilling on the floor or bench. read more

I LOVE this gym. This is the first gym I've ever belonged too. When I first showed up, I was nervous because it was like the first day of school. What if my locker doesn't work? What if everyone laughs at my hips-to-waist ratio? I was afraid and alone. I was rolling around the floor. I guess I was stretching? But Tage Eriksen, my Membership Advisor, gave me the push I needed. She was my "cool-kid helps new-kid" angel. Tage gave me more than just great advice. She gave me confidence. She suggested I enroll in yoga, take on some cardio classes and get a personal fitness assessment. I'm sure it's part of her job, but Tage made me feel like I was her only job. And it made me feel special and inspired. I've never been this healthy or fit in my LIFE. I've also never been this clean (oh, the unlimited KIEHLS)! I sincerely enjoy coming to this Equinox. The members are the worst here. I am being bullied by an actor wanna-be who looks just like The Situation from Jersey Shore. He says my feet are too loud on the stairs. Then he slams his feet down as hard as he can to mock me. I was last bullied like this when I was 11. He shouldn't do that to anyone, but for reference, I'm nearly 40 years old, lost 100 pounds and survived cancer in my 20s. I'm at the gym to de-stress, not to get bullied like it's 6th grade. I've complained to management multiple times about this, in addition to the people on their cell phones, and they've done nothing. The Situation Wanna-Be and his buddies also talk so loud you can hear them on the other side of the gym ("Bro! Hey Bro! What's that bar you went to the other night?") and if you are in between them on the stairs they will lean over and yell across you. They are classless pigs with no manners. This is also the ugliest location and the parking garage is the 7th Circle of Hell. They only get one star because I've had some kick-ass cycling instructors and Angel (the group fitness manager) is really cool. I will not be returning to this location. read more

This Equinox is definitely not as flashy or fancy as the other ones, which I love. The staff is friendly, it is clean, and I have never had to wait for any equipment. The showers and locker room are always tidy, and it's never too crowded. The only thing I'd change is more time availability for classes/ change them up. The other gyms like Hollywood and Downtown have unique classes like boxing and ballet barre. I'd love to see more variety at this location. read more

For the money you pay, of course it is a nice and convenient place to work out. The interior is modern style and clean. The shower area are awesome: Khiel's products marble stalls, wood floor. In house massage and spa treatment. There's a bar for you to purchase drinks and snacks. The gym wear shop is always fun to check out. If I ever need to move out and find I need a temporary gym or lack the latest fitness equipment, I'll chose Equinox. Staff is friendly and professional. Soi is a good trainer if anyone needs to shape up. I just wish there more than 3 hour validation. Moved to a luxury complex with a gym. Great gym. Never smells like a gym! Super clean The equipment is too-notch and always works. Nothing squeaks. Locker rooms always clean, well stocked with Kiehl's products so you don't have to bring shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, face wash, moisturizer, body lotion, hair driers, shavers, deodorant...etc. Maintenance people are always around cleaning and maintaining the equipment. Yoga mats are cleaned after every class. The instructors are awesome. Classes are very challenging for all levels. Yoga is real yoga. Pilates is real Pilates. Kids Club is also very good. OK, since I got my all access membership about 2 weeks ago I have now been to 4 of the gyms. Today I went here so here is my rundown: 1) Super Clean 2) Staff is so friendly!!! 3) Locker rooms are a bit different as here you don't need your own lock but it a little tight in here. 4) Cardio machines are best in the chain so far and state of the art. So many TV channels on machines. 5) Parking is in large structure and takes a while to get through the process. 6) They have limited machines. No hammer strength for arms and chest. (Why not!). I would say 50% less stations than the other gyms yet it seems like they have enough space. 7) Water drips out of fountains. 8) Low ceilings. So, not the best in the system based on my surveys but the wonderful staff and cardio equipment makes up for it. read more

This is one of the odder Equinox locations in Los Angeles. The Glendale location is considered fairly new, yet the gym feels pretty worn. This location is small with everything located on one floor. The cardio equipment on one end and the group fitness rooms on the other end and the weights and machines in the middle. I'm not a fan of this set up for obvious reasons, but I understand with space limitations that this might not be of their choice. The positives of this gym are its location and the cardio equipment always being free. The negatives of this gym is everything else. The locker rooms, like many have commented don't feel clean with grime and build up very apparent in the showers. There seems to always be towels lying around and not moved over to the dirty towel basket. The weights are almost always filled and in use so often I feel like I'm either compromising my workout with machines or stopping short because I only have a limited amount of time. Also, the lack of a proper stretching area really is an issue here. While parking can be an issue, I've never had a problem at nights. Overall, the location could be so much better, but only does enough to be good enough. read more

I want to share a short story about an instructor at this location. Sami Dorman in my opinion is the best instructor at EQX. I am inspired by her every time I take her classes, see her smile, watch her greet people in passing. Her radiant positive energy lifts the chin, moves the body, and sends light through your soul. They say that you never know what someone is going through in life, and someone, somewhere is always going through something worse. Be kind to people always. I am going through a pretty devastating separation in my relationship of 12 years. The endorphins from my workouts are a welcome blessing to me. I took Sami's spin class yesterday morning. In the class during cool down, she spoke about kindness and suggested that we take time to make 10 statements of gratitude each day. In that cool down, right on the bike, stretching, relaxing, I cried. It was an uplifting and emotional moment I received with arms wide open. Thanks so much, Sami. I will try to do this more routinely going forward in my healing. read more

I've been going to this location for the past 3 years and never had any issues. The front desk staff is always super friendly and generally pleasant. But recently I had an issue regarding my credit and after spending no more than 5 minutes on the phone with the manager Azeem, he was not only able to comprehend my issue but also resolve it in a fair and prompt manner. Just. So. Frustrated. Yes, it's shiny and clean. Yay...Yet, a pretty exterior cannot hide the internal flaws. Where to start? Let's start with the cables, assisted pull-up machine, and possibly other equipment. I have emailed back and forth, spoken to personally, and left comments at the front desk for the gym to address the serious and unresolved issue of the weights on said equipment being mislabeled and/or in kg, rather than pounds. Someone could hurt themselves! I have been told I am wrong, I have been told I am right. It matters not. What matters is, is that nothing is done about it. The GM emailed me telling me that the cables ARE in pounds. What cable system do you know of that stops at 97 pounds? That's preposterous! The assisted pull-up machine starts at 40lbs of resistance! how ludicrous! It should start at, maybe, 5 pounds! I should qualify this review by stating that I am a personal trainer who lifts weights all day, every day, so not only am I familiar with how much weight feels in hand and being pulled, but I know how proper equipment is labelled. I work and workout in several gyms. Additionally, I film instruction videos on how to properly use gym equipment, as a fitness model. This is an issue I've addressed with numerous Equinox employees since day one. Secondly, the personal trainers are lovely people. Always willing to help and are knowledgable. However, when I go to train they are often monopolizing the functional training area with their own, personal workouts. I specifically went in today with the intentions of doing step ups on the medium plyo box. A trainer (who was with a client) was using that box to rest her iPad and water on. So, the suitable replacement would be to build a step box with risers. However, two other trainers who were not with clients were using both of the step tops with risers. This is soooo aggravating. I understand working out in your downtime, but, using all of the equipment that high-paying members need is bullshit. In fact, one trainer (who was working herself out) took up half of the Fx training space with a rowing machine she dragged over to do a circuit. I'm sorry, paying members get floor space before employees do. You can walk to the machine. Thirdly, the hours SUCK. I'm not asking for 24 hours, but decent night time hours would be appreciated. You know, comparable to any other full service gym...Closing at 7pm on the weekends is pretty weak. I really want to cancel my membership. However, I'm locked in for a year. I will say, that in no way do I fault the trainers as I know they are stuck there in their downtime. I get it. But I leave more frustrated than pleased when I cannot do the workout I want to do. I can say I will not renew my membership when my contract is up, yet I will continue to attempt to workout here, as I am forced to pay top dollar for it. I will update my review if my experience changes, but for now, I'm just not happy when I go in there. And, again, trainers, I respect you all and it's not your fault...you're not mind readers. But the cables and the asst pull-up thing really bothers me. I am coming back after a fitness hiatus and need to know what weight I am pulling, and I guessing with my math is not enjoyable or time i want to waste during my workout sessions. I've asked to be removed from their mailing list a total of FIVE (5) times and I'm really irritated at the lack of customer service. I never hear a response from this person nor do they remove me from the mailing list. I also mentioned that I already have a fitness program I love (read: SoulCycle) and do not need a membership at Equinox at this time. read more

I was kind of disappointed by this new Equinox. It's so small. Everything seems crammed in. Especially the cardio machines. The gym is not very busy right now because it's still new. So working out in a small space wasn't a problem today. But once memberships pick up and it's busier, I can see the small space being a problem. I'm giving this Equinox 4 stars because it's very clean and has all the perks of other Equinox gyms. Kielhs products, clean facilities, all new machines (but not a big variety), and extra friendly staff. Of course, it's only been a week since it opened so I'm interested to see how it is 6 months later. BUT... I don't plan on making this my home gym at all. I'd rather drive the extra 1.5 miles to West Hollywood. I also can't see myself working out here anytime soon because the floors are so slippery. Try squating with a 50lb barbell while your shoes are sliding all over the place. Or leg pressing on a machine where your feet are sliding off half way through your reps. So dangerous! Is this normal for new gyms? I'll have to wait until the floors/machines have been used for a while for me to come back and work out safely. Now for the logistics. Parking: You can enter the parking lot through Burchett St. if you are on Central Ave or Brand Blvd. They validate for 2hours. I was given two different answers when I asked what it was thereafter. At the gym I was told $2 every 15 minutes thereafter. When I called to confirm the parking fee I was I told $1 every 15 minutes thereafter. I was here on a Saturday when the rest of the business were closed so parking was easy. But the structure is shared with two high rises. read more

After paying an exorbitant amount of money to sign up for Equinox Glendale, I drove to the location, only to find a "coming soon" sign out front. At no time in the signup process was I informed that the location was not yet open. So, I went to the Pasadena location and asked if I could use that facility until Glendale opened, they said "no," and I paid another exorbitant fee to use their gym in the interim. After a couple months and even more money spent on personal training, I decided that it was not for me and canceled my membership. Then last week I noticed that the Glendale location was still billing me monthly. (After requesting the account be closed twice.) It still has not been closed and I have paid hundreds of dollars for a gym that I have never set foot in. Apparently they're already too sweaty to bother sweating little ol' me. *** In response to Equinox's response to this review: I recognize your attempt to retroactively display some semblance of customer service after being called out in public. However, that's not how customer service works. You had your chance to help me multiple times. The only way I actually got you to stop charging me was cancelling my card. Despite your "efforts" I continue to implore anyone considering Equinox to think twice before they pay twice the cost (or, in my case, much more) for subpar service. read more

After being a member for three years and a big Equinox promoter, referring many people (many times not even worrying about the referral bonus), I finally cancelled my membership today. I'm sad to say that unless there are some changes, this is not a place where you should waste your money. It's beautiful on the outside but inside, the service in Glendale can be as average as a $30 a month gym. Here's some more info in case it helps anyone make a decision. - Not all but many of the trainers can be downright rude and constantly invade your space when you're trying to work out. This is a serious problem. It's what finally made me cancel my membership. - The free stretching and weight advice is many times non-existing because the blue shirt trainers can be too busy hanging out or flirting. -Hours are minimal. Closes super early on weekends and by 10 at night. This has become a bigger problem now that the evenings are way more packed than before. Even with that, they close even earlier when they have company parties. - Parking is awful. No exaggeration. Imagine having to wait 15 minutes to exit. And don't park in the wrong space because your car will get scratched. -Cleanliness of the lockers really depends on who's working. There are two really good guys but if they are not there, good luck. Give the price point and what Equinox promises to offer, there should be non of the issues I described. Also remember the gym is tiny. If you don't have service you're not getting anything worthwhile. And I'll stop here. I will say the front desk staff is generally nice, especially the guy who offered to follow up on my complaint today. And there are a few nice trainers who do walk around and offer towels, etc. Management should also track complaints better as I have brought up the issues with the trainers before and you can see similar ones in other reviews. read more

Even if I wanted to join this place they are very rude to guest. The front desk guy "Carlos" was very rude. My friend emailed me a guest pass to work out this am. I usually work out in the evening at planet fitness. This was an opportunity to check out equinox and maybe join in my neighborhood. I showed him the email that stated a member allowed me to use a guest pass. He then said this will not work I need to scan her pass. He also asked if she was at the gym I said yes, she is. Nothing he did not help me at all and his customer service skills are very poor. I stepped outside I had to call my friend interrupted her spin class to come and scan me in. As she is making her way to me Carlos colleague comes to the desk. She informs him the my friend is in spin class. He comes out to let me in. I had already told him she was here- he chose not to believe me. He was very rude. I will not be joining equinox. If it wasn't for the fact the weight area is so congested, I'd consider giving the place 3-4 stars. If you're going to pay $140/mo (for single gym) and $180+ (multiple gyms), you don't need trainers taking half of space. I have to wait for equipment between 4pm-8pm nearly every time at this Equinox; hence, this place fails to deliver value. Yes, all the equipment is clean, plenty of cardio, the manager is very nice/accommodating, and the bathrooms are nice, but all the Kiehl products in the world can't disguise how overpriced this chain has become. I am getting the sense the Equinox gyms are just an overpriced, dressed up 24 Hour Fitness without the 24 hours and not "as much" rif raf. read more

When I came for an advertised open day to come and experience the gym, I said I didn't know if I could afford Equinox during the open interview. He immediately changed his attitude, stopped smiling and went to "find out" about the free day advertised at the front of the gym. He never told me prices and he then told me that the free day wouldn't be available to me and suggested I leave. Suzie Q's Fun Facts: An equinox happens only twice a year, when the plane of Earth's equator passes the center of the Sun. As a result, the northern and southern hemispheres are illuminated equally. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ I happened by this Equinox nearly by accident. Normally a Westside resident, my plans on this particular Sunday kept me in the Glendale area for much of the day. So rather than spend (and waste) time and money shopping too long at the Galleria, I decided to take a late-Sunday yoga class. The EQ app told me that the closest Equinox to me was in Glendale. Little did I know, this was a brand-new member of the EQ family. And spankin' new it was! The locker room was huge and immaculate, with the lockers that have self-dialing combinations (so you don't need to bring your own locks as I do at the Santa Monica location). The lounge outside of the locker rooms was inviting (and totally empty). And the work out area was full of sunlight. The staff was very friendly and relaxed, without a pretentious attitude. The lady who checked me in even offered to take me on a tour of the club, even though this wasn't my normal club. The parking lot was also conveniently located. Like other Equinoxes, this one has a 2-hour parking validation limit. Not a fan... but better than no validation at all. I guess they have to apply a limit somewhere. While I won't be in this neck of the woods often, I'm happy that I now have another option for working out if I'm nowhere near home. read more

The girlfriend talked me into taking a cycling class at this fitness club called Equinox. I had no idea what I was getting into, but whatever, I'm a man and I went to check this place out. Needless to say the cycling class kicked my ass. I've been to different gym facilities such as 24 hour fitness, Balleys, LA fitness, and etc. First impression: very clean. This place had hard wood flooring compared to other gyms where it's cement or normal tiles. It's fancy. There is also an area for u to surf the web. Really nice and helpful staff. Hardly any one around so no need to wait or fight for machines to work out. Free cold or dry towels. Clean machines. I am impressed. Then comes the hammer. Asked the girlfriend how much does it cost and all I can say it is way more expensive than the normal monthly gym memberships out there. It explains why there are hardly anyone there when you work out. Not everyone can afford it. However if you can afford it then you get what you pay for. Hopefully one day I will be able to join this gym. Once I win the mega million lottery I will be sure to sign up a gym membership here. Equinox Glendale is awesome! My husband and I have been members since 2015! I only do the classes, so I cannot really comment on the weight area, although it looks really nice (I should probably start using that area too)! The classes are amazing! I love every instructor! They are so fun, funny, and encouraging! I have not taken a class that I do not like! It would be awesome if a 4:00 p.m. class could be added here or there... maybe?!? :) :) Everyone I have encountered at Equinox is very nice and friendly (front desk people, trainers, instructors, etc.). We couldn't be happier! Parking is also very easy (Equinox validates). Equinox does raise it's membership yearly by a bit, so hopefully it won't get too high!! Overall, we love Equinox! read more

Just joined in December. Really LOVE the equipment and most of the staff is friendly and professional. Deborah was super-helpful and answered all of my questions. Josh is a really great trainer -- super-professional and REALLY knowledgeable. Josh is really focused. He has a balanced approach to coaching and this is essential for achieving great results. For private Pilates instruction, Toni is the best! She patiently explained how to use all of the equipment and even gave me special exercises to relieve my plantar fasciitis. The only thing that keeps me from giving this club a perfect score is that certain personal trainers are quite unprofessional. It's best to keep disparaging political comments to a minimum -- particularly when they're peppered with F-bombs and directed against well-connected actors who provide jobs in the TMZ. --- Totally unprofessional! read more

Seriously, top notch service at this place. I've had nothing but positive experiences at this place. I forgot my workout shirt one day and was frantic about it. Two separate employees immediately looked to give me a shirt to workout in. One of them came back with a Pilates shirt for me and said, "Have a great workout." It's the little things like this that make this club an unparalleled experience to other gyms. All of the equipment and facilities are extremely well kept. I haven't had a single problem with the cleanliness at this club. These clubs are certainly expensive, however, it's been a pretty priceless investment for me thus far. It's the best part of my day. Equinox made me do it!!!!! That is so true. I am not a big fan of exercising. Not at all. When this place opened in Glendale, I was beyond happy. I am still very happy and beyond satisfied. The place is impeccably clean. The manager Melvyn is caring and super professional. If you email him, he WILL respond. Everyone is great. From people who greet you at the door Devon, Sakara, Bryce and all others who always have a big smile to the locker room cleaning ladies. I LOVE THIS PLACE. People who complain it's expensive, well maybe so but if you cannot afford it then you should join the smelly stinky 24-Hour Fitness where fungus and mold is growing in the locker room. This place is pricy (and yes personal training is expensive $1165 per month) but you get what you pay for. I am very happy with this place. Can't wait for Tuesday to go back to my session.
