tl;dr We were blessed to work with Eli - he is a fantastic and responsive project manager, sensitive to all concerns and requests, no matter how nuanced. Additionally, his team are extremely high quality, efficient, and clearly know what they're doing. I had a lot of anxiety around such a big investment, but now rest with more confidence that the investment was very much worth it, especially with a team like Equinox. --- After purchasing our first home, we were in the market to get our roof replaced as suggested by our realtor and inspector pre-purchase. We knew that it'd be a daunting project, and finding the right roofer felt like a very challenging task. We received a handful of quotes from roofing companies and contractors via Yelp and decided to entertain Equinox's inspection. That's when we met Eli. Eli was punctual, and even though his drone was down that day, he decided to get on the roof himself and inspect it up close. Eli then proceeded to present every step of the roof removal and installation process - he even brought samples of each of the materials that'll be used as well as example shingles to get a sense of color. I'm a very detail-oriented person and was pleased with Eli's level of depth in his explanation. He answered all of my questions (and I had many) and helped me build a sense of trust and confidence in their work. He then explained his findings that would make our project a bit more risky and challenging than others. We had: - 8 skylights - Exterior windows that wrap onto the roofline - Wood shake shingles underneath our asphalt shingles (both of which needed to be removed to be up to code) - Areas that needed flashing replaced or newly added to completely prevent any water intrusion Despite these nuances and their extreme detail, their bid still remained extremely competitive to other offers we've seen. On top of that, their accreditations helped give me peace of mind knowing that even when the job is done, we're protected by their great workmanship warranty and manufacturer warranty as they are platinum preferred contractors with Owens Corning. So we said yes. Fast forward to project start... The entirety of the work took only 3 days. Here's how it went down: Day 1: full demo of both layers of old roofing material, begin installation of needed plywood Day 2: Finish installation of plywood, delivery of roofing materials, and begin installation of new flashing around skylights Day 3: Finish replacing and adding new flashing around skylights and walls, finish installation of the the whole roof and painting flashing to match (including a last minute color change by my request) Through all of this, Eli stopped by each day at least once, help address any issues during the process, and took drone photos and video from start to finish. The team cleaned well after themselves too, despite how messy the project was. They even added some extras that sweetened the deal such as adding crickets to the flashing of each of the 8 skylights (see attached photo for what a cricket is), adding additional custom flashing on adjoining walls to the new roofing material, and adding a custom curb and cricket to our peculiar roofline windows. Unfortunately, there were some minor details that needed to be addressed after the roof was completed. A couple panes of our peculiar roofline-wrapping windows were cracked in the process, and two skylights needed to be adjusted (one was making a vibrating sound, while another wasn't fully seated) - it's worth calling out that none of these issues caused any water damage as it rained the day after the job was done. Eli was super responsive to my concerns, and assured me that I would be taken care of - and absolutely stood by his word. Over the course of the next couple weeks (it took a while due to inclement weather and these random rain storms coming and going), Eli keep me updated daily and he had various members of his team come by to measure our windows, install brand new glass, and fix the problematic skylights. Now that the project has fully completed, I can rest assured knowing that if anything were to ever come back up, Eli and his team will be here to stand by their work and keep things in tip-top shape. read more

My project involved a new shingle roof, plywood, and new gutters. I spend $37k for this project. It has been nothing but a nightmare. Don't expect quality roof, definitely hire outside project manager who are expert on roof. But then again you are hiring poor quality work. From the start, the demo crew was not part of Equinox. These were untrained roof demo crew (one manager, and 3 people they hired from outside of home depot), one of which fell from the roof into my house (breaking the ceiling) by stepping on wood he was told not to step on. The Equinox sales guy (Elad) is supposed to be a project manager (he is not a roofing expert), he flies his drone but sells you a dream. He'll only come to you to collect a check (that's his main job). You basically don't have any project manager or quality control. The actual equinox roofing crew will want to finish as fast as possible, and if rain comes, you are screwed (no cover plan). And if you don't go up the roof to check, this company will take advantage of the homeowner. No amount of research will protect you from getting a quality roof. The gutter guy is from Equinox, and as of today the gutter is so badly done + there is a hole on the wall that he created (in which he'll ask me $800 to fix). Because of the crappy home depot plywood they used (and lied that it's the best quality), I think my roof will probably leak in less than 10 years. You will never see the owner of this company (Ben), you'll talk to him when money is involved. He doesn't care about quality of the roof or you. Me and my husband even took the whole week off for this project. Still, there are too many details that will slip by untrained eyes. If you plan to hire this company, plan to delay as long as possible to pay them for the roof. That's the only way to protect yourself. read more

We have a flat roof and many of the problems that come with it and Isaac helped us come up with a plan that worked for us. I recently had the roof replaced on my 60 year old house. I used Equinox Roofing and I am very pleased with the work they did and with the ease of dealing with them. The leader of the crew was Victor. He was very easy to deal with. If there was anything I wanted done differently, he would explain why they wanted to do it in that way. If I still wanted it done differently, he would often simply agree and say that he wanted for me to be happy with what they were doing. I believe that Victor reported to Avi, who was the manager who estimated the job in the beginning. Avi visited the site every day to make sure everything was going to plan. He also checked that cleanup was done each day. He did this by walking completely around the house. As it happens, my dad was a roofer, as were several of my uncles. They often had me help them with the jobs when I was young. As a result, I know a lot about roofing so I understood what was being done on my home. I often commented on what was being done and the way it was being done. All of these type of issues were resolved amicably through discussions with Victor. The city inspector was here just a few days ago. He left open only one issue, which was that all bedrooms needed to have smoke detectors. Both Victor and Avi were here shortly after the inspector. Avi drove to a hardware store and bought the smoke detectors that were needed. Both Avi and Victor installed them and then Avi called the inspector who signed off the inspection that the job was complete to his expectation. There was nothing done in a way that I disagreed with so I am pleased with the completed job. In all, I give Equinox the highest words of praise. As is usual for contractors, high quality work always costs a little more. It was true in this case. Theirs was not the lowest estimate. I received the highest quality of work and one more thing. That is a 25 year warranty, which includes materials and labor. Most contractors only provide a short warranty of one to three years on labor. It's very rare to receive a 25 year warranty on labor. I suggest that you ask any roofing company you are considering if they offer a 25 year warranty on labor. That tells you two things. If the company does offer a long warranty on labor, you have the peace of mind that any problems that becomes evident for the next 25 years will be taken care of. More importantly you will know that the company you are judging is so sure of the quality of their work that they give their own warranty on Labor. It's impossible to know about the quality of their work any other way before the work is done. read more
