Love this gym! My only regret is not discovering it sooner. I've lived in the area for 11 years and had no idea it was there. This place gets results!!! I started here about a year ago after my gym closed. The workouts were a little different and wasn't sure if this was the place for me. After about a year I have seen some great results. I have gained some strength back and managed to keep my weight under control but the greatest difference is that I have little or no knee, hip or back pain. The coaches here are great, they watch and make recommendations and adjustments even during the workout. Form is a major consideration, some small adjustments have helped my mobility and corrected some bad posture resulting in increased flexibility and less joint pain. Tim, the owner, is/was a high level competitive weightlifter so he is stresses good form before he has you lift heavy. The coaches ask if you have any concerns and will scale the workout so that you can avoid getting hurt and yet have a great workout. The members are welcoming and helpful, I was surprised how much energy there was at 6:00AM. There is a variety of equipment so if you need to approach an exercise differently, there are ways to do that. Probably the most interesting thing of all is that on some Friday's, the have donuts. This seem counterintuitive but after a tough workout, I think you deserve it!!! I joined Code 3, Hawthorne a little over a year ago when I started I was 160lbs I'm 5 feet so for my height overweight with high cholesterol. I couldn't run a lap to save my life. I'm proud to say I'm at 140 now and no longer have high cholesterol and my conditioning has never been better. I tried commercial gyms in the past I felt lost and overwhelmed by all the machines. Commercial gyms just didn't work for me I needed direction and support. And I swear you will get that at Code 3. Code 3 programming is perfect for beginners intermediate and advanced athletes since they can be scaled to your level. Tim takes the time to coach you through it all. He gives you the tools to start your fitness journey all YOU have to do is put in the work. I'm dyslexic and I struggle with direction but I was able to learn because of the support I got at code 3. As someone who has been to multiple gyms.. I think Code 3 is probably the best gym I have ever attended. We stopped by one day on my day off to see what it was about. Tim, the owner, stopped working out just to speak with us. He was nice, straight to the point. The workouts are great. Tim is really patient when explaining new workouts and movements. Everyone who attends this gym is nice and will give you good feedback to improve yourself. For example: when squatting, someone may come up to you and mention how to improve your posture. I love how he explains certain workouts and breaks them down to simplify the movements. Step by step, no rush here, but learn quickly! You can definitely tell that he enjoys what he does. I went here on a Class Pass to try it out. Classes, especially strength training, can be super intimidating. But not Code 3, and definitely not Tim, the trainer. Group classes also can be easy places to get injured as there is one trainer for the entire class. But Tim made me feel very comfortable, and had a careful eye on me the entire time to be sure I was doing each exercise correctly. I sincerely appreciated his attentiveness! I love this place so much! I was looking for a new workout regimen because I was taking a circuit class before this and felt like I was hitting a plateau with my strength training. I wanted something more challenging AND a place that had a really good community. A friend had mentioned CODE 3 and I emailed Tim. He got back to me right away and gave me a week free trial. I was sold on the very first day. I had never touched a bar before CODE 3... but with time and constant encouragement and feedback I'm doing things that I NEVER thought I would be doing at WEIGHTS I didn't think were possible for me. After having 2 kids, I was looking to get back into shape and shed some of the baby weight. Unfortunately, I'm not as blessed as some of my friends where the weight just melts off. I found this gym and decided to try it out and see if it would work for me. Tim (owner and head coach) was amazing from the start. He chatted with me to discuss my fitness goals and my current fitness level (which was pretty crappy since I hadn't worked out in the 3 years after having kids). The first week was TOUGH but awesome. You definitely get sore, but it's rewarding to know that you are working your body and change is happening :) After trying it out, I was hooked.. Here are some of my pros: -People. This is a major thing for me... everyone is friendly, nice and not "judgey". Whether you are super fit or looking to make a change in your life, the people here are all in the same boat and just looking to get a good workout in. Everyone "suffers" together in the workout :) -Coaching is top notch. Tim is patient and actually coaches and gets you in the right form. I've been to other gyms where the coaches are on their phones and not really attentive to the members during class. This isn't the case at Code 3. I get plenty of feedback on my form and it's reassuring to know that I'm doing the movements properly and more importantly SAFELY. -It's clean. This seems pretty fundamental, but it's actually really hard to find a clean gym. -In addition to coaching, Tim also has a nutrition group on FB and he's a wealth of knowledge when it comes to how to fuel your body in order to get the results you are looking for. -It works. Since going consistently the past month, I've lost about 7 pounds. No, it's not easy, but if you put in the time it works! If it's your first time, don't worry too much. Everyone starts somewhere and Tim is great with explaining and demonstrating each and every movement. He also scales the movements to your level of fitness so it's not too intimidating and daunting to get started. Overall, if you are looking to kickstart your fitness or to make some gains to your current fitness level, Code 3 is a great place to go. I joined Code 3 in January of this year. It's always been hard for me walking into a new gym/ box for the very first time. You don't know anyone there or what to expect. You have no idea where all the equipment goes or what the workout of the day is going to be. For me, coming into Code 3 was refreshing. When I started I was really out of shape, but immediately felt comfortable and welcome by Tim the owner/ Head coach, and all the other members who were there. Tim is able to scale the workouts for me so that I can participate at my current level. He makes necessary corrections and is really approachable when I have questions about certain workouts. I liked meeting Tim but I did not enjoy the workout, atmosphere or feel comfortable there. After my first trial class he said several times that he would call me the next day and he didn't which surprised me as I am in decent shape and don't have much weight to lose.
