I couldn't be more pleased with my Ergeon-crafted gate and experience. The whole process--from initial contact through build, installation and project wrap up--was efficient and seamless and, as a result, quite enjoyable. Working with Daniel to translate what I wanted into a design and quote was a reassuringly pleasant experience. I really (REALLY) appreciated the level of detail (visuals included) of their quote, not to mention the reasonableness ($$ wise) of the quote itself. There was some back and forth to dial in the details and problem solve around potential challenges, but Daniel was a game and responsive collaborator throughout the process. It would be difficult for me to say how Ergeon could improve on this level of service. Once I signed off of the design and quote, Daniel handed me off to Joan, my highly capable and communicative project manager, with whom I stayed in close contact throughout the rest of the job. She quickly booked pre-installation site visits, PGE dig permitting and then the install itself. As I had questions throughout the process, Joan was always quick to respond by text or phone. Come install day, Saul and Daniel (Daniel No. 2 ) made quick work of building (on site) and installing my gate. I really appreciated (and appreciate!) their attention to detail and their closely adhering to the spirit of the design. I'm very happy with the end result. We contracted with Ergeon for 2 fences in our yard in Berkeley this year. Ergeon worked with us and with 3 different neighbors to spec out an acceptable good neighbor style fence at a very reasonable price. They billed each neighbor separately so we didn't have to deal with paying the entire bill and then collecting from the neighbors. Ergeon contracts with local crews that specialize in fence building. The crew showed up on time and finished each fence in 1 day, including demolition and removal of the existing fences. The quality of the materials (redwood boards with pressure treated posts) and workmanship were high. We have a large redwood tree that is encroaching the lot line and the crew worked with us and the Ergeon project manager to figure out how to build around the base of the redwood tree without leaving any gaps. What can I say, our old fence was tired and needed to be replaced. We contacted Ergeon and had a great experience working with their team. The online fence building tool really allowed us to fine tune our needs while providing us a solid understanding of materials and cost. Jose was great and worked hard at setting up expectations and outlining the process. From start to finish our project was done in about 10 days...with only 3 of those days being actual production. When all was said and done, we are extremely happy with the end results. The only area of the process that could use improvement would be the communication between the installers and the end client. Because the installer team did not speak english, it was very hard for me to communicate directly to them, provide detailed instructions, or make any inquiries. I would never ask Ergeon to hire only english speaking workers, however I would recommend you have someone from the Ergeon team (maybe the project manager) onsite, in only to help facilitate any necessary translating. This hurdle made the process unnecessarily long, as we ended up wasting quite a bit of time, simply translating instructions via cell phone and going back and forth with the home office team. As mentioned before, the end product is well made, looks beautiful and falls in line with what our overall expectations were. A 33' length of redwood fence blew down in a recent windstorm. After requesting bids from 5 companies (4 responded), I selected Ergeon for their professionalism, their reasonable pricing, and their excellent customer service. Using photos I provided and online aerial imagery, their customer service rep Kelly was able to provide an initial quote. With a follow up phone call and a few texts, she provide me with pricing for some options I asked about. I signed the work agreement on a Wednesday afternoon. By the following Monday evening, the job had been scheduled. Ergeon scheduled a dig permit for me and the utilities were out two days later. That Friday morning, the 2 person crew arrived and were finished building the 55' of good neighbor fence by around 2:30 p.m. (I replaced other sections of fence to avoid another failure). They paid particular care to pouring and working the cement, which I appreciated greatly given that was one cause of the previous fence failing. The crew cleaned up the area thoroughly and hauled away all the material. Most construction jobs are disruptive and take up too much time. This is a mixed bag. We hired Ergeon to replace portions of a back and side fence that was destroyed by the storms. The response time was very fast and the communication was excellent. Their main office people were friendly and responsive. Then we had the onsite inspection which went well, I had thought, but there was some miscommunication as to placement of the fence. We had stated we wanted a "good neighbor" fence with alternating panels, but I guess it was misunderstood. When the work crew arrived, they were friendly and courteous however no one spoke English and neither I nor my neighbor spoke Spanish. I tried to explain about the alternating panels and thought they understood. And my neighbor wanted to make sure the new fence was flush alligned with the existing old portion. Well, neither one of these worked out the way we wanted. It was later explained that alternating fence panels was not in the contract and would have cost extra (which we would have paid). The allignment of the fence (mis)happened when one of the installers asked which side should the metal bracket go on. He couldn't explain what this meant when i asked him (didn't speak any English other than some simple vocabulary) and it seems that this effected the alignment issue. The fence itself was done nicely and looks fairly good. The installers seemed competent at their craft. If they could only communicate in English!!! My recommendation if using this company: they seem reliable and responsive, BUT make sure that every last detail, without exception, is made crystal clear at the onsite inspection and is included in the written contract. Also, ask that at least one of the installation crew speak fluent English, or at least have an English speaking supervisor on site for the first few hours. If we had done this, the review might very well be 5 stars. read more

Had about 25 feet of fencing that was badly in need of repair. Ergeon had a very easy estimation process and provided a really fair estimate based on my measurements. In fact, the original estimate expired and they could have increased the price due to the rise in lumber costs, but they didn't--they honored the original estimate. Had I known this company is just a call center that then sub-contracts to local contractors, I would not have used them at all! I see others also believe that their customer service is lacking. I had to call them to follow up on dates for the pre-install visit, installation, etc. And when I wasn't happy with their sense of urgency and workmanship, it would take days, if not weeks to reply. The reason I didn't give them 1 star is the subcontractor who did the work actually tried to make sure I was happy. Slow Service, Shoddy Work, BAD (The Worst?) Customer Service Earlier in the year, our fence blew down in a windy storm. Not knowing who to contact, I turned to Yelp for recommendations. I settled on Ergeon Fence Co., due in part to high review marks, and a high tech virtual fence builder option on their slick website. I made requested a quote on their website, after selecting what style, height, wood selection, etc from their website. I was contacted by Orlando a few days later. I was uncertain on the style differences & requested another estimate. How can I best put this? It was a total mess. Instead of changing the option I wanted updated, he forwarded an estimate for a different style fence. I asked for another updated estimate, and wow - I got one for a totally different style of fence. Was this a joke? I pretty much gave up and just went with the estimate he gave us - even if it wasn't what I wanted. BTW- it took DAYS in between estimates. After agreeing to have Ergeon do the fence, I was immediately contacted by Orlando asking me for a 'personal favor' to post a positive review on Yelp for his supervisors to see. Sounds super shady, right? I did not & waited until the job was complete before posting a review. Okay - after seeing the numerous red flags from just getting the estimate (I should've run at that point), their price was reasonable and the style looked fantastic from the website. Now's when they fell apart. I dealt with their local contractor Roderick who seemed uninterested in doing the job. My money is just as good as anyone else's right? I felt like he was dragging his feet (days & even weeks between his email replies). Not good. Needless to say, it was a little over a month from when I agreed to have them install the fence (a basic single length, mind you), and the time they completed the job. When they did "finish" the fence installation, there were several trim pieces missing, shoddy gaps between boards, overall 'crude' construction methods. I contacted Roderick about the issues immediately after the fence was put up, and he has yet to have the trim pieces put in. After paying the bill it was like they disappeared. Poor customer service. Dealing with Roderick was like dealing with a 10 year old. Several times, he gave me excuses why it was taking so long to have the job scheduled... illness, trucks breaking down, the weather. A total joke - I have the good mind of writing a detailed letter as well as forwarding all the email communications to Jenny the Ergeon CEO. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. Yes, Ergeon was by far the most reasonable quote we got - by a few hundred dollars maybe. Would I pay another fencing company the amount I saved to do the job in a timely & correct manner with no trim pieces missing, and good communication and customer service? In a heartbeat. Dealing with Ergeon was stressful, far from easy, & painful. There are better places that deserve your business. Steer clear of Ergeon - don't be fooled by their slick website. Updated review after the whole thing wrapped up last week. tl:dr. They are efficient and well priced, but you have to pay close attention to all the details. Pros: 1: They are cheaper than independent contractors (most of the time). 2: They do work with you to get your complaint addressed and issues resolved. It might take a while (in my case multiple weeks to address some minor issues), but they do get them done. Overall, they are pleasant to deal with. Cons: 1: This is essentially a tech entrepreneur streamlining traditional labor work. Their differentiator is efficiency and streamlines operation. They just want to come in and get the fence up and leave. As other reviewers suggested, you have to pay attention to the details yourself. They are just trying to be as fast as possible. They told me my fence (60 feet long) is a one-day job, but they did it in four hours. 2: Their sales team is efficient but very pushy and once you signed the contract, they are completely gone. I had multiple minor issues (to be fair, their fence quality is pretty good). a) They got one of the phone wires stuck under the new fence. They had to come back to fix it. b) There were about 20+ old nails left on my lawn after they finished the job. c) At one end, instead of completely remove the existing concrete, they just put new concrete on top and cut the baseboard to fit in. None of these are big issues and they did come to fix a/b in a reasonable time frame. read more
