NO ONE wants to get corrective surgery for reconstruction surgery following a mastectomy. The additional risks & ordeal of an extra procedure makes it really important to get everything thing right the FIRST TIME. My first reconstruction was done by a surgeon who was competent, but ignored my requests for compact implants, giving me ones that were too large and heavy for my body frame. If I could do it over again, I would fight harder to obliterate all the obstacles that prevented me from having Dr. Li work on my initial reconstruction. Dr. Li helped develop several workable options to replace, tighten & lift, to address my concerns. He also exercised good judgment to make additional improvements to enhance the aesthetics. I was very happy with the process and the results are good. Dr. Li is a rare professional who possess the creativity & technical expertise that allow him to achieve superlative aesthetic standards. I've had fat transfer and 3 PRP injection for my under eyes pigmentation throughout 1.5 years. Both together cost $7.5k and I was having high expectation. The fat transfer kinda help but the pigmentation is still very visible in normal lighting. I really regret the 3 prp injection which does nothing. It looks good for like 3 days and when the swelling goes down my pigmentation is back. I felt like I paid so much money just to look almost the same. Very disappointed and I'm planning to go to Asia for better treatment. read more

This is a LONG overdue review. I had a breast reduction and mini abdominoplasty to get rid of the dreaded C-section blip 6 months ago. I saw three excellent surgeons in the area and the consult with Dr. Li was PHENOMENAL. You could see him thinking about my individual case and tailoring everything he was going to do based on what I wanted as well as what was realistic. He was patient with all my questions and would pause and re-examine me to show the different options. I never felt like it was a "one size fits all procedure." After the initial consult, I had more questions that he spoke with me on the phone about. He checked his notes and called me back to make sure my goals were being met. We did a second quick in person consult to verify the surgical plan. The pre-op markings and photos took 45 min. The surgery was ALL day (9 hours!) and he was the one doing the entire procedure- no one else did any of the suturing which is what I wanted. He called me the night of surgery to check on me (at 11pm!) and saw me the next day. You can tell that he takes pride in his work- especially when seeing the outcome. Scars are still healing but some are already almost invisible. I had the nipple areola graft and I am still mind-blown that you cannot see any scars. Surgery center was excellent with great anesthesia. I made sure that an MD Anesthesiologist was present during the entire case. I'm in the medical field and it is anxiety provoking to be on the other side as a patient. His office staff are friendly and very helpful with getting letters for delaying gym memberships as well as ordering more undergarments. Post op meds and instructions were sent and easy to follow. As for the outcome, I am so so happy! I was about at 32 G/H and now likely a D. Back pain gone post op day 1! I have my torso back! He also did lipo in axilla and I let him decide to put the removed fat in my shoulder dents or breast tissue (to even out the final result). He is truly an artist. The C-section blip is gone! Way more comfortable in pants and bathing suit. I can wear dresses with "spaghetti straps" now. I even went braless (gasp!) in a cute sundress. I initially took 2.5 weeks off but then extended it a week as I had to keep the drain in. Actually went back to work with drain still in an additional week. In hindsight I should have taken 4 weeks off as I'm on my feet at work. You really have to listen to everything the surgeon says to get the best outcome. Just had my mammogram and even the radiologist noted how thin and small the scar internally is within the tissue. And breasts no longer as dense so mammograms better for breast cancer screening and I don't need the ultrasound anymore. In looking at the other reviews, some people complain of cost. My procedure was all cash and not covered by insurance. His expertise is worth it (he likely trained for a decade to do what he does!)! He is also a business owner and I know what it costs to run an office, pay staff, surgery center, anesthesia, malpractice... Again- if you are considering any plastic surgery, get 3 consults and decide. 100% see Dr. Li for a consult. In the end, go with your gut. I'm so glad I chose Dr. Li. I had an explant (19+ years old), lift and implant and could not be happier with the extra care, professionaism, patience and expertise of Dr. Li. I had several factors that needed correction and of course unrealistic expectations of what I wanted versus what was the best case scenario. I met with Dr. Li to ask him about two small hard bumps I had. I thought they were related to a surgery I had a year ago with another doctor. Dr. Li diagnosed the bumps as cysts caused by ingrown hair. He quoted me $5,000 to remove the two small bumps. I met with my dermatologist who said he thought they were fibrosis, bumps related to the surgery. He gave me two cortisone injections placed 3-4 weeks apart. The bumps are now gone. My insurance covered the visit. Thank goodness I obtained a second opinion! I cannot recommend this doctor. read more

I have to write a review!... First off let me just say I did about 6 consults with the "top" surgeons in the Bay Area and Dr. Li was by far my favorite. It was really a no brainer. Pre Surgery: His office staff professional and always responds timely. When I went into my consult, Dr. Li made me feel very comfortable. I trusted in his work and knew he'd be the right doctor for me. He doesn't leave out a single detail. Post surgery: I had breast augmentation done by Dr.Li about a week and a half ago. My pain levels were no higher than a 2/10, even immediately after surgery which is when people say their pain levels are the highest. I did 350 CC on one side and 375 on the other. My breast are now identical (honestly) and the exact shape, projection and size I had dreamed of. I'm a person who does a ton of activity while also chasing my 7 year old around, so I wanted to keep my results looking more natural to where someone would think "So are they fake or real?!" The results are a 10/10, really do not have a single complaint or wished anything was different, and I'm not an easy person to impress. Very grateful for Dr.Li and have already reccomended him to many others who've been on the fence about breast aug. Here are my results 1.5 weeks post op. Customer service needs an upgrade. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The oncologist referred me to Dr. Li's office for a consult prior to surgery. I then received a call from his office, and they indicated he was booked until June, which is too far for my surgery. They said they would contact the surgeon's office to see if they could coordinate a date, and they would call me back. They never did. Then, when I went back to the onco, she said she was not sure why Dr. Li's office didn't call me back. Two weeks passed. This past week, I had an appointment for a second opinion at UCSC. The day before my appt. Dr. Li's office calls and asked to schedule a pre-op for the next day after the call because my surgery was scheduled on 5/16. I told them the next day would not work. After some back and forth, they said they would "squeeze me in" on Thursday (they called Monday afternoon). They required a $150 deposit to hold the appt. They make you sign this form stating that if you make any "last minute" cancellations you forfeit the deposit. After my appointment with UCSF (Tuesday)I called them right away and told them I would go with UCSF, and asked if I could get my deposit since I just placed it the day before. They said "sorry, it's a last minute cancellation" There is no last minute cancellation whey they call you Monday, to "squeeze you in" for Thursday, requiring you to make a deposit despite you telling them you have a second opinion appointment, and you call the NEXT day to cancel. This is a ripoff and added unnecessary stress to someone who is not doing this for cosmetic reasons, and especially after they decide to schedule a surgery without your input, and say that if you don't pay, they can't hold your surgery date. Horrible customer service! read more

I did a lot of research and found Dr Li to appear trustworthy and good at what he does! I particularly chose him due to his experience with the Asian physique. Dr Li helped me feel comfortable and we had regular visits every step of the way for my surgery. He prescribed the right antibiotics despite my allergy history with certain ones. I recommend him to provide surgical services and help you feel your best. His assistants were also very prompt with communication. This office's practice is not very ethical. They are hiding information trying to mislead the customers when they book for appointments. My experience with Dr. Li's office was fine until I was trying to use the $150 consultation fee towards injections rather than surgery and learned that there is a minimum unit requirements for me to use that in the office. Their unit price is not competitive. The cost after subtracting the $150 would still be equal as my go-to dermatologist. I asked the nurse if this minimum unit requirement is listed anywhere in written, and she told me no, it's a general practice (How should I know as a patient?). I ended up not getting the injection and fortified the $150 consultation fee and wasted 1.5 hour drive there and back. I would appreciate them more if they told me the minimum unit requirement before I make the injection appointment. At least I don't have to waste the 1.5 hour. This makes me most unhappy about them. read more

Dr. Li and his entire office staff are simply amazing! The short version: he's a perfectionist, highly detail oriented and takes pride in his work. Your body is the canvas for his art and he's DaVinci. He's thoughtful and answers questions thoroughly and he sets very real expectations. He'll take you from "mom" to "wow" all while you take a nap. Long version: I needed an urgent mastectomy in & had to pick a plastic surgeon that I could trust to guide me and well, basically perform miracles and magic during the reconstruction process. I carefully narrowed it down to either Dr. Li or a surgeon at Stanford and am so glad I chose Dr. Li. He came to see me in the hospital the night before my mastectomy and discussed my options and goals for reconstruction in detail. I went through 2 reconstructive surgeries and countless office visits with him and always walked out feeling confident in his skill and trusted him wholeheartedly to bring the best out of the situation. I am happy to report that my breasts look ridiculously good - if you could only see the warped, nipple pointing in a direction no nipple should point, awkward lumps that he had to deal with, you would think he cut pasted someone else's breasts onto my body! My wife had a fall on Sat and busted her lip open. Due to the location of the injury, we called around to see which hospital had a plastic surgeon on call. El Camino in Mountain View was the one that had Doctor Li on call so we went to ER there. We requested that Doctor Li take a look at her and provide treatment; something the RN at the hospital said was doable. Doctor Li called my wife directly on the phone and later spoke to me as well. He told us that our request would have "consequences" (used that word multiple times) without an explantation. After a lengthy conversation, he told us that if we wanted to have him provide treatment, we would have to go to his office the next morning (Sunday) and give him $1500 for the treatment. He refused to come to the hospital even though I agreed to pay out-of-pocket expenses., The RN at the hospital was very surprised with Doctor Li's comments and treatment categorization. A caring and professional physician would not behave in this manner and make decisions based on money. Very disappointing. Figured other patients should know what happened to us so they can make their own judgement as to Doctor Li's character and priorities. read more

I saw the one-star review and found it very startling. This does not sound like Dr. Li to me at all. Also, there is no "free service" given for a high review, as that reviewer claims. I went to Dr. Li for cheek and lip fillers. These have sometimes turned out poorly with other doctors, so I was a little anxious. Dr. Li was patient in listening to what I hoped for and what my concerns were and went over the different filler types with me. He was very professional, but I also loved that when I said I made the appointment after accidentally activating FaceTime and seeing my face looking just like my grandma's, he said, "Oh no, an emergency!" I also learned he does restorative cosmetic surgery on cancer patients. What I asked for: I wanted to restore what age has taken away (not look radically different from my natural appearance), and if it was possible to look prettier also, then that would be extra nice. There are bad surgeons, average surgeons, good surgeons...and then there are the rare few who are EXCEPTIONAL; that would be Dr. Li. Not exaggerating one bit, he truly is a brilliant surgeon. My case was a revision so it was already difficult coming in. Not only did I get the results I wanted, he actually exceeded my expectations. I know he looks young (we asians age so well, don't we?), but let me tell you...he is experienced, extremely knowledgeable at his craft, SO detail oriented even borderline OCD (you want this for someone who is cutting skin on your body), professional and awesome bedside manners. Check this out: a week after surgery on a saturday, I had an allergic reaction, by 10pm that night when it had gotten worse, he asked me come in to check on my incisions and dressings. He subsequently had me come in abt three more times that week to make sure the allergy was gone and I was healing properly. Really, find me a doctor who is that dedicated. My results are phenomenal, so that's already exciting and that alone is worth it to see him. AND THEN, on top of that, you get a doctor who is truly with you every step of the way (I asked more than a million questions before and post op to which he always patiently responded in a timely manner). I have had a trigger finger for the last 25 years in my right little finger. I always found it embarrassing when I had to shake hands as it crippled my hand. Dr. Li was recommended by a neighbor who had gone to him. Dr. Li recommended giving me this shot that essentially would make the tendon brittle so that he could then break the tendon and make my little finger straight. And it worked!! I am so grateful to be able to use my hand as intended and am no longer embarrassed to shake anyone's hand!! Absolutely great! I have been getting botox done in LA and Miami where surgeons are much more experienced in cosmetic stuff than the ones in the Bay area. In the past I had to get botox with a doctor several times before we could get it right. Most of them want to inject too much, and make you look "surprised" and frozen. Dr. Li got it right the first time. And got it right the second and third time. He is very knowledgeable, and understands what you tell him. I got a very natural look, with just a hint of movement, just to keep people guessing ;-) For even better service take a picture of your results and take it to him next time you see him. It helps him understand better what the outcome is, and helps him adjust accordingly. I am going back to him for sure! read more

Visited Dr. Li for the first time 1 week ago and was amazed. He was pleasant, attentive and very honest with what I could and couldn't benefit from in terms of services. Dr. Li was very concerned with my comfort and went above and beyond to ensure I felt as little pain as possible. Not only did he numb me but gave me a vibrating tool that helped further reduce my sensitivity. My Botox shots weren't painful and I have a refreshed appearance that looks VERY natural instead of frozen. Where do I begin... okay so I've gotten Botox and fillers a few times now and I didn't mind the previous people I went too, until I went to Dr. Li. It was a complete different experience in the best way possible. The moment I walked in, every receptionist greeted me, offered me water, and made sure i was comfortable. I explained to Dr. Li that I hate my bunny line (hereditary) and crows feet and he figured out the perfect points that Botox would help all of that. I also told him I was I interested in lip and smile line fillers. He explained the difference in the two types of fillers that could be used and made sure I was comfortable moving forward. I decided to go with the filler that was less thick and lasts longer. He put the numbing cream on and then I got to chat with Danielle who is amazing (can't wait to have my facial with her, which I will leave another review for afterwards) for a while until the numbing cream kicked in. The Botox wasn't painful (little pinches) I didn't bleed at all. The fillers were normal, not painful (because of the numbing cream), just a weird feeling when being injected. He explained every step while doing it. "I'm going to add .2 on this side and an extra .15 on this lateral line" (which I knew exactly what he was talking about and was very happy he noticed it) "your lower lip on the right side is slightly naturally smaller than the left so we will add just a touch more to even it out." It was great. I honestly can't say enough nice things. Day after and I have two small bruises which are hardly noticeable, and this is the least swollen day after that my lips have ever been. I can't wait for the final results. I will post a picture in a week to show the difference all healed. I would recommend everyone to go here, especially if you are nervous about getting any work done. I guarantee you won't regret it! read more
