I asked to place a call to Dr. Kokinos or Ulena PA. Almost 24 hrs. Later no call. I called just now and k. Answered. K was so rude to me. Told me what the report had said and what had been determined. However, I was calling due to significant arm pain. I can't thank Doctor Kokinos enough for the stent in my left leg! She gave me back my life! I have two thin legs again! No more heavy legs. I went to one vein Doctor who told me I had Lymphodema and told me to wear support hose. She diagnosed my problem right away. Blood clots! I had an artery pressing on a vein. I second reviewer Sara W's review, Dr. Kokinos ruined my legs too. Please read the other filtered reviews before considering Dr. Kokinos. My story: I started seeing Dr. Kokinos more than a year ago and have spent thousands of dollars for her to cosmetically correct my varicose and spider veins. My legs now look worse than before and I am left scarred On my very first sclerotherapy session she used a foam sclerotherapy solution. I developed an ulcer on my leg which left a large scar. When she saw it she said "I used too high of concentration in the solution" and then changed to a weaker solution after. She admitted it was her fault. It is more than obvious that when first doing sclero treatment she should have worked here way up with concentration instead of leaving me permanently scarred. Even though there are potential side affects with hyper-pigmentation and ulcers these are avoidable when the correct concentration is used. The weaker solution did not give me any further ulcers, but it did not help either. I have since been seen by another vascular office that confirmed the ulcer and scarring was from the concentration and I have since written to Dr. Kokinos several times in order to resolve this. To date she has not responded to provide a resolution (other than returning for additional treatments which is not an option) for the scarring (which is permanent and cannot be changed) , ineffective treatments, and the additional expense of having to seek another facility for treatment. I highly encourage others to be very careful in selecting a doctor for these types pf procedures. The next step for me is to file suit in court which will be done at the end of the month if she does not respond with a resolution. Definitely not what I had expected to have to do. GET ANOTHER OPINION, NO MATTER WHAT DR. KOKINOS TELLS YOU. After doing a rather rushed and half-*ssed job of checking my foot and toes for a pulse, Dr. Kokinos said I needed to have the entire front half of my foot cut off. I got a second opinion (and some actual testing with real equipment) from Stanford--and all I need is a PILL to help with my circulation (and, and BTW, every toe tested by Stanford had a pulse--that's what happens when you take the time and use good equipment to find out the truth). read more

I went to her office, for varicose veins ablation and I was crucified. She gave me medium size stockings to wear for six weeks and my real size is extra large. Of course I could not wear them. When I complained to the secretary about the size, she told me "now we have the large size" (after the operation). She sent me two times statements, to pay for two co payments of $40.00, which I had paid when I entered her office. When I complained to the nurse, why she wants me to pay twice, her answer was "Dr Kokinos has fired the bookkeeper and the whole office is a mess". She had promised me that one week after the surgery, the pain in my legs would have been subsided, but after the week, the pain got worse. My left foot became double from swelling around the ankle and my thighs were burning from inflammation. Then she recommended more medications (diuretics and antibiotics) and she was insisting to wear the medium size stockings over the burning part of my thighs. When I requested the print out of my Ultra Sound she gave me a drawing with the veins in my legs. Later on, when I got it, from my primary doctor, I realized that I have edema. Both legs still have incompetent perforators (ankle and calves) and the left calf has thermal injury (is bigger than the right one). She did not touch the right calf, so no thermal injury there. She learned her lesson Her practice is "one size fits all" and if you fit into her limited skills, everything is fine. If not get ready for a big disappointment and then start looking for another vascular doctor to treat you and fix the damages she has caused you In my opinion, incompetence and insanity is lifestyle, in her office I'm wondering the five stars reviews what purpose they serve and why they are so phony and so slimy read more

As much as I like Dr. Kokinos, her accounting staff called me about 8 months after my surgery, saying I hadn't paid for all the services! They set me up on a a payment plan to pay what the insurance hadn't paid. I made the first payment, but then spoke w/my insurance company. They said they had paid off the whole bill! So, I canceled the recurring payment plan and haven't heard from them since. I went to see Dr. Kokinos because my legs were swelling and felt very heavy, making things I love to do more difficult. After diagnostics, it was determined I suffered from venous insufficiency and could either wear support hose for the rest of my days or undergo venous ablation. I chose the latter. I underwent a total of 4 VNUS procedures. When I went in for my 6 week follow up, hoping to discuss why my right ankle and about 3 inches surrounding it were numb, I was treated by a physician I'd never meet before. He seemed surprised (he wasn't the only one!) that no one told me Dr. Kokinos was on vacation and had the unenviable task of telling me the numbness was probably permanent. I told him that, during the procedure Dr. Kokinos asked her nurse to prep another 125cc of numbing solution, but decided it wasn't necessary. It was only after experiencing a searing pain behind my right knee that she injected the solution. I asked if this was the cause of the outcome. He stated it very likely was. We went on to discuss why my legs continue to be swollen and heavy. He stated that the latest ultrasound revealed the need for 2 more surgeries or I could wear compression hose. Perhaps you think Dr. Kokinos would have contacted me about the abysmal results and next steps when she returned to the office? Don't kid yourself, not a peep. Approximately 6 months post-op, my legs are swollen, heavy, and the right leg is numb and, at times, burns. Far worse situation than the one I was hoping to resolve. If you need to undertake this type of procedure, do yourself a favor and find a doctor that will leave you in better, not worse, shape when you're done. read more

I went to see Dr. Kokinos for a third opinion. Both prior doctors were 100% sure I needed major surgery. Dr. Kokinos carefully reviewed all my medical records and tests and directed me to a surgeon, who removed my polyps using an endoscopic tube. I went in at 3:00PM and went home the next morning at 8AM !. Dr. Kokinos helped me avoid an 8 to 10 hour high risk surgery followed by 7 days in ICU, 2 weeks of hospitalization and two to three months recovery. Why did I go to Dr. Kokinos? I am very particular when it comes to any doctor attending to my needs or particular situation. I thoroughly check out the phyician's background and credentials, as well as word of mouth from friends for former patients. I also do a lot of background research on my health problem so I feel a little informed about what to expect when I visit a doctor, Including observing the professionalism and appearance of the doctor and assistants. The cleanliness of the office, exam room, and equipment, and how others patients are treated when they arrive. My experience was outstanding!! From the first moment I walked in, I was welcomed, impressed and totally comfortable with Dr. Kokinos and her staff. My condition and treatment were explained to be from the on set and what would happen every step of the way. Nothing was ever pushed on to me nor was I ever surprised. During my sessions everyone knew exactly what to do with minimal supervision from Dr. Kokinos which helped to keep her focused on performing the proceedure without any issues. Worst ever !!! Please kindly do not go to this Dr, highly unprofessional and, all they care about is to make money. In 2015 I went to them as I was having few issues with my left leg as I have had DVT in the past. They recommended me VNUS Closure procedure to fix my Superficial veins. I spend close to $10,000 on this minor procedure alone and, towards end of 2015 they called me for a followup. But that appointment got cancelled by them and they asked me to come in 1st week of jan 2016 to get an ultrasound done. Had they not cancelled my appointment I would not have had to pay as I had meet my deductible for 2015 already. But that was not the case in the ultrasound it got proved that the procedure they did for me was not successful and, it was a complete failure as my symptoms did not recover completely. I was kind of so frustrated that even after spending close to 10k this was a failure and plus the main Dr Kokinos still did not see me on that visit, she told some nurse to see me and explain the results of the ultrasound and, plus they offered no regret whatsoever for the failure in my case. On the top of that they billed me $400 for that visit too. I was so aghast that in the firs place the suregry was itself a failure and on the top of that they still want to earn more money without having given any fix for the issue I had. My symptoms did not heal and, my pain had increased and I wanted to see Dr. Koinos and ask the reason for this but they did not let me see her that day. I am not happy at all! First I have to make an appointment and tell me what my symptoms are. Then I have to go to the office fill in some paperwork. The first thing she says when she comes in is that she can't help me! That doesnt make any sence. Then after I get the bill that I have to pay. That makes me just furious! I spend there all my time for nothing and I have to pay! That is not the way you handle your patients! I had a great experience with Dr. Kokinos and her staff. She is an extremely capable and professional surgeon. I had a phlebectomy and laser ablation on two very large veins in my leg and not even 6 weeks later my leg looks great. I'm thrilled! Prior to finding Dr. Kokinos, I researched three other vascular surgeons in the area and had appointments scheduled with all of them until my gynecologist highly recommended Dr. Kokinos. With the other doctors, the other suggested procedures were too invasive (anesthesia for several hours in a hospital) or not enough (vnus). Dr. Kokinos took one look at my legs and knew exactly what to do. The procedure was scheduled quickly and insurance approved rapidly. My wife went to urgent care for a rash on her lower leg. The physician noticed that her other lower leg was swollen and prepared a referral form for Dr. Kokinos to check for a possible blood clot. We drove to the South Bay Vascular Center to get an appointment and they made room for my wife to been seen that day. She had an ultrasound of her left leg and the ultrasound technician noticed my wife had varicose veins in her right leg and after she talked to the doctor, the technician did an ultrasound to her right leg, to rule out blood clots. After the ultrasounds, we were taken to the doctor's office. There, we sat down with Dr. Pineda and he went over all of the ultrasound findings. It was great to hear that the swelling in my wife's legs was not due to blood clots. Dr. Pineda suggested things for my wife to do and to come back if she had any problems. It was sure nice to have a conversation with a doctor who spoke in easily understandable terms and not a lot of medical jargon.
