June 18, 2026: First time client. When I arrived on time…read more(with my cat's medical records) for a Wellness Check, not one person on the staff was welcoming or friendly. My cat and I were placed in an examining room (with an examining table) for a very long time. An unfriendly female staff person walked in and (weirdly) took my cat in his carrier away from me to a back room (I was not allowed to accompany my cat); leaving me waiting (behind a closed examining room door) for a very long time. I went to see where my cat had been taken (my poor cat (in his carrier) was left; on the floor; all alone; completely neglected. (Dr. Bettina was not there; she was late; I was told absolutely nothing about her lateness). When she finally showed up (after doing out of my sight "only God knows what" to my cat) she tried to sell me an additional vaccine that my cat's medical records clearly showed he wasn't due for until 2028. She also tried to get me to buy the cat food sold there (which I did not need). There was a cage in the (very scary to the poor kittens) very large front window that had 2; poor; screaming; terrified; traumatized; "up-for-adoption" kittens that the staff completely ignored; that they left to suffer in intense fear. The clinic itself is aged and smells very musty (it was flooded 3 years earlier with creek water) and has obviously not been professionally cleaned and/or maintained. They don't care about the animals; they don't care about you. I (WE) ARE NOT GOING BACK.

He treated me and my boyfriend kindly and made sure all our questions were answered and I didn't feel rushed. He took care of our old senior girl and removed a huge tumor from her that other vets didn't want to do because of the size. He even went out of his way to call the following morning to check in on her to see how she was doing. His staff is also nice specifically Lainey who I want to thank for being so kind and also not rushing me on the phone. I came across so many other vet receptionists who just wanted to get me off the phone when my dog was DYING but Lainey took the time to talk to me and listen. Thank you all. you saved my baby and you made me feel taken care of as well. I'd drive an hour for you guys each time to have my animals taken care of by you and your team.

Yes they are good to my animals and yes they are driving to the home, but to be double the price of every other place...? It is just wrong in my eyes. Great Vet care!…read more Pricing is reasonable compared to other local vets. (Example a Vet on the other side of the valley wanted to charge $1500 for a procedure due to several extra "required" tests, Dr Dean was able to do the same surgery for $350 because he didn't require all the extra tests unless we wanted them) He is very easy to talk to about what is considered needed and what procedures are extras, so you can decide what you want to pay for upfront. Don't be shy in asking questions on medical procedures costs aftercare etc...he's not hiding anything or trying to sneak in something extra to make a buck. Their office is very helpful. I started going to Dr Dean as a college student when I could not afford to pay for much of anything and I've flip flopped from local vet to local vet over the past 40 years...Dr Deans office is still one of the best options in the valley if you want an office that's down to earth and truly cares for your pet. Reminder pets (even healthy ones) are not cheap, you make a commitment to a living creature to care for it when you decide to buy or rescue a pet....be ready to pay for their medical needs.

However in the morning I noticed he had several "foxtails" embedded in his pajamas (hairless dog - wears clothes on cool days) then I noticed the swelling between back toes and knew he had a foxtail. I called my friends at St. Frances Animal Hosp but they were swamped with only one vet and closing soon... but they told me about UVC - I drove over and within an hour we were done! My pup as recovering from sedative, foxtail in a test tube to share as a warning to friends and neighbors and a GREAT experience with highly skilled staff and professional, friendly, experienced and well trained veterinarian. Without running any tests the vet came back and said it might be cancer. I acknowledged that may be the case but thought it was alarmist and premature to say that. The technician came back after cleaning the ear up to say they at this point they do agree it's a wound with possible infection, not cancer. Although they wanted to meet with me to go over the treatment and meds before I left, they forgot to put an antibiotic medicine dispenser in my bag, and three separate times I had to remind them to go back and give my (feral) cat his first dose of antibiotics, and flea meds, and remind them again to check for worms. They also forgot to give me topical antiseptic pads so I can clean the wound. I think they are training young interns who have no idea what they are doing.

Because of this, the entire call felt like a complete waste of my time. If I had simply been given a quick answer upfront, it would have taken less than a 30seconds. By day 4 he succumbed to acute blindness. How a vet was not alarmed seeing the dosage on the bottle is beyond me. Ophthalmologist verify our cat is completely irreversibly blind due to its toxicity. I've had vets for over 30 years and never had anyone been this gross negligent. Another woman shared on my Nextdoor post that her dog was prescribed antibiotic by this same vet and caused fatal internal bleeding. Fatal. It makes me wonder what kind of vet this woman is. She's only been there since Feb 2023, just a short 3 years. There may be other cases we don't know about. Beware. If you choose them, you should really google info and ask PetMD about the meds/dosage. I did file a complaint with VMB. CA law does not punish vet malpractice unless it's proven to be intentional. VMB is a division of the Department of Consumer Affairs. They will investigate and do have a measure of accountability from citing fines, to further training, to probation, to protocol requirements, to suspension and revoking license. Pet owners need qualified medical professionals treating our pet family members.
