I first found Dej Salon on yelp and read all the stylists reviews there. From all the reviews, I got the impression that if you have curly/wavy hair, Erica is the girl to see. Because of that, I chose Erica. I have been seeing Erica for years now. I have done everything including color, highlight, cut, hairstyling and updos. I like the natural, simple looks which is totally Ericas style. I had her style my hair for a wedding once. I usually never put my hair up, but I trusted Erica and let her do her magic. I loved the end result and got so many compliments from friends. Another thing I like about Erica is that she is always on time. I never have to wait or go over time. My whole family goes to her and all my friends started going to her as well, not to mention, all my friends are extremely picky and always want the best quality for everything. Erica is a miracle worker. I came to her at the behest of a friend who called her "the color guru." My hair was fried and orange from a botched dye job and even more destructive color correction. I had been growing my hair for years so the fact that it was breaking off in handfuls was devastating. Erica is a gift from the "hair-gods". When I leave the salon, I feel like I should make plans for a night on the town. She takes my tousled mess and puts me back together. She's brilliant with hair color and her cuts can last for up to two months. In fact, one time I went back to her for a hair color and trim and she told me NOT to cut it. How many stylists would be that honest with their clients? So, without hesitation, I trust her. And, since I'm in the late 50's crowd, I'm always asking her to make me look younger. Well.... it's just that I'm extremely lazy and low maintenance when it comes to my hair. Erica hooks me up a perfect cut and style every time, I feel great when I leave the salon. She suggested the Keratin treatment and how I would love it because it cuts all styling time down to like 0.0 minutes. I was referred to Erica about 4 years ago looking for someone who specialized in hair extensions. Part of me is hesitant about writing this review because I know that if other people find out about how amazing Erica is she will be inundated with new clients and thus make it harder for us to book an appointment. ERICA IS AMAZING! I'd been envious of my coworkers ombré for a while, so I I finally made an appointment. She was super nice and very easy to talk to. I have very thick, dark blonde hair. I told her that I wanted to stay light blonde for my upcoming trip to Spain (10 months) but needed a really low maintenance color/cut so it can grow out naturally. I was referred to Erica when the pricey Beverly Hills stylist I'd been going to for over 10 years seemed unwilling to cut my long, straight, style-free hair. Determined to find someone willing to work with me in finding a flattering super-short cut, I gave Erica a try. In a nutshell, she rocks. In one fell swoop, Erica took 10 inches of hair off my head and at least 10 years off my face! I loved the cut and got nothing but compliments. I continued seeing my old ($$$) colorist who continued to charge me an exorbitant amount to color my super short locks. I mentioned this to Erica and she said she also does color. I was a little hesitant because I haven't found many stylists that are as gifted with color as they are with cutting (and vice versa). But again, I trusted Erica and she did a fantastic job matching my unique red color. After a lot of thought, I decided to go platinum blond and Erica worked hard to come up with a flattering hue that I just LOVE. Erica is a fantastic hair stylist. She truly understands how to work with your hair and brings out your best by doing her thing while also listening to the look you are going for and giving you what you ask for. She cuts and styles my hair in a way that I can also achieve the look easily on my own. She's colored my hair for a few years and recently I started doing some highlights and the way she does them really accents my cut and even my face nicely. I have long curly hair and she's given me keratin treatment on and off for several years and my hair has never been damaged from the process. It just eventually fades to my normal healthy curly hair. I usually have her style my hair straight but she cuts it so that it also falls beautifully when I wear it curly too. Erica is my favorite stylist I have found in the entire Los Angeles area. I used to waste money going to expensive Beverly Hills salons. The color I get from Erica is better than any of those snobby salons (I have tried them all). You name it and I have probably been there in the past. I also used to go to Erica at Dej salon which was nice. Now she is at Capella salon in Studio City. It is a large, clean, laid back, nice salon with a parking lot in the back! Erica has always been on time and very professional. I felt comfortable with her from the first time I went to see her. Most importantly, she doesn't get upset with me when I do stupid things like color my own hair in between appointments. Once I even went to a walk in salon for an emergency color and it was horrible and she fixed it. I am on the older side of her clients, but I have noticed she is great with all ages and she is fun to talk to. Every time I see her it is like we are old friends. Most importantly, she always does a great job with my hair no matter what I have going on. She also cut my son's hair once before he was in a wedding. He hates to get is hair cut but she was so sweet with him and it was the best haircut he ever had, so I would definitely recommend her for men too (my son is an adult). Erica takes plenty of time to do whatever I need and her prices are very fair. She is also just a sweet girl that makes me feel very comfortable. Erica is the best colorist around!
