    Baked haddock

Everything about Sundrenched- from the food and drinks to the atmosphere and the employees- is top notch! Can't say enough wonderful things about this gem!

Came here for lunch with mom, she's been here a lot; I haven't been till today - yummy Trinken Kolsch & mom enjoyed a CA Pinot Noir. The haddock sandwich was very good, seasoned fries and a delish tartar sauce - a bit of a bite from sciracha. We came here cuz Mom wanted scallops - OMG - seared in garlic butter; served with roasted potatoes and a nice salad. Service was exceptional and the space is seafood shack and then some. BTW - if nothing else come and check out the million dollar view from the bathroom.

Fried Maine Redfish (left) and Monkfish (right) Tacos

We tried the Fried Maine Redfish and Fried Monkfish Tacos, Ahi Tuna Nachos with extra tuna, and Bailey Island Street Corn. Everything was phenomenal! What a treat! Staff were great! We ordered take out but it's a cute place to have a sit down meal. Also, the fact that they automatically accommodate food allergies when ordering online was so nice. We can't wait to go back and try more great dishes!

Overall, it was quite disappointing despite the great drinks and views due to service (lack there of, really), the food itself, and the price. It's fast casual - you order your drinks and food at the counter, take a number, and when things are ready, a runner brings it to you. The issue with this setup is nobody ever checks on you. We would have likely ordered another round or two of drinks, and everything needed salt. We also tipped 20% when we ordered and paid but...for what? There's no service! The food - their biggest let down. The rosemary chowder was quite bland and the potatoes were mushy. My seafood platter was again bland (lacked any seasoning) and for $40 it was more French fry than fish (especially scallops - there were 3 and shrimp - they were the teeny tiny kind). The fish sandwich was fine. The view and drinks and general atmosphere were great. As we left, someone asked how everything tasted. That's not the right time to do your first check in on customers. We noticed 10+ staff in the kitchen -- I'd highly recommend more front of house workers and a chef who tastes things before sending meals out. $100 plus bucks (plus tip) for food we didn't finish was rough.

    The fried fish tacos

I stopped by Sundrenched during their soft open about a week ago. This new restaurant is definitely the trendiest place on Bailey and the surrounding area. I'm not quite sure I'm sold on the new interior look (for example, the main dining room has very limited seating now: primarily a space with a couch and chairs now. Maybe that will change?). Unlike their predecessor, you place your order and then find a seat (instead of being waited on). The new menu looks pretty good and the prices are pretty reasonable. We ordered the fried fish tacos and the rosemary clam chowder. Something that impressed me about both dishes was the generous amounts of fish in both. They're not skimping you here! The chowder was a unique spin on a classic that actually worked very well. Tasty! I was a little disappointed by the fried fish tacos just because they were pretty salty and the mangos just weren't sweet enough to counteract the saltiness. Still -- not bad! Looking forward to coming back and trying the ahi tuna nachos.

How do you spell overpriced and mediocre? I spell it "Sundrenched". We stopped in the late afternoon and were handed menus, told to sit wherever we wished, and return to the counter to put in our order. We each requested cups of clam chowder and water. The clam chowder had little if any evidence of clam most likely due to the absence of clams while our water came in bottles of Poland Springs. The tab before gratuity weighed in at a mind boggling $31. The only positive was its location at the end of Bailey Island bridge.

    Private dinner dessert course

We have dined at Sundrenched many times and always enjoyed their hospitality and food. On a special occasion this week we had a private dinner prepared by Sundrenched chef/owner Zac Leeman and his sous chef Tom. It was a phenomenal meal with a special drink pairing for each course. They started with an elaborate snack board that included stuffed dates, duck pate, salmon spread with salmon caviar, prosciutto and crackers. The second course was a peach and burrata panzanella with local lettuces, ciabatta croutons and fig balsamic dressing. That was followed by a fish course of a scallop trip including a Cajun kelp remoulade with roasted corn salsa, starfruit flambé with micro greens, and sweet potato, dill crème and caviar. We then enjoyed a delicious lobster B.L.T. Carbonara pasta course. Our meat course was a sous vide filet mignon with blue cheese and cauliflower creamed greens, red onion and beet marmalade. For dessert they served a tropical fruit ambrosia with fresh madeleines. Both Zac and Tom have extensive training and experience as chefs. They were engaging and enjoyable, narrating our meal with valuable background and information, but not intrusive on our celebration. In sum, both the meal and experience rivaled many of the pre-fixe dining I've had in outstanding restaurants in major cities. If you are in the area and looking for a special meal, or simply need someone to serve as chef for a large family occasion, the chefs at Sundrenched would be a great choice. We highly recommend them.

Banh mi Foot Long Hot Dog - To Die For!
    Christi L.

My husband and I stopped at this little restaurant while on vacation to Bailey Island. We both decided to try the hot dog of the week (OTW). It was the Banh Mi Foot Long Frank, and it was amazing. Likely the best hot dog either of us have ever had. A toasted, crisp and crunchy bun with a full foot of all-beef grilled frankfurter. The carrot cake moon pie with a cream cheese filling was also very good and you can take one with you! We discovered we were there on opening day, and we met the wife of the chef, who will be debuting new dishes periodically. We look forward to seeing what new tasty creations are coming. They serve in a casual dining format where you place your order at the counter going in. . The venue has great view of Casco Bay from every table and brings all the beauty of the area along with great food. One can't go wrong here.

The close proximity to my home for delivery was another reason for choosing them. Ordered via Uber Eats made selection of tacos super easy. Clear pictures and descriptions of each taco type was very helpful. We chose two house tacos one beef the other carnitas. The Bahn mi and the Al pastor. Also ordered the street corn appetizer. Food arrived after 20 minutes and was semi cold. Hubby enjoyed his two house tacos but was left still hungry. The corn was nasty! Cold and mushy took two bites and threw it away. Definitely an item that should only be eaten there as it did not travel wall. The Bahn mi was delicious, the Al pastor was shredded meat and super spicy. After three bites and could not tolerate any more. Gave to my still hungry man. I will have to go there at least once although where does one park to go there? When I go I'll probably have the Bahn mi and the fish taco.

And I'm writing this review because it was at Cook's that I had the best, and I do mean the BEST, lobster roll in my life. I've had many, but none where the lobster was so sweet, so tender. I had the Jumbo buttered roll (twice the meat of the regularly roll) and there was SO much lobster in it. Yes, it was outrageously expensive $($72) but that's lobster in Maine these days. Regardless of price, it was worth it! My wife had the slightly less expensive lobster saute (she indicates that it was at least a stick of butter that was in the skillet) and likewise it was outstanding. Kudos to the cooks, the lobstermen who went out in the morning to bring in this delicious catch, and the poor crustacean who sacrified his life so that we could enjoy his/her contribution. And the service, it goes without saying, was prompt, oh so courteous, and delightful. You have to go here if you want a taste of Maine seafood.
