I hate to be one of the only people to give this place less than 5 stars, but I just wasn't that impressed. Read reviews that it's always packed so we went around 3:30pm to beat the lunch rush and although we got our lobster rolls with hardly a wait, this Texas girl (and her family) were just not amazed. It was our first "Maine Fresh Lobster" experience and we decided to get the lobster roll without mayo and decided that it had no flavor at all. It just tasted like a cold toasted buttery hot dog bun. Which don't get me wrong, is good and all, but I could've just gone to the store and toasted a bun myself. No true flavor. However, their fresh cut French fries were pretty tasty, if nothing else. Don't think that I'll be back for the rolls, but for the very nice staff and scenery, it's a decent place for a meal. read more

We've gone here so early and late in the season we had to eat in the car to be warm. When you see fishermen climb onto the wharf at the end of their day, and go to the window to order, you know you're in the right place for seafood. Crabster, melted cheese with crab, and huge, fresh haddock sandwich are family favorites. Fun to watch the clientele change as the season waxes and wanes. COVID update, 7/2: they've got it down! Wow this place is delicious! The crabster roll was amazing (that crab and lobster mixed). I'll be coming back again one day. We came here on vacation, well worth the drive, but be sure to stop and get cash before you go as we did not know it was a cash only establishment when we went. There is no ATM nearby and only realized after we had ordered, but the people who run the place are so nice they gave us the address, gave us an IOU and told us to mail them payment when we could. Who does that nowadays? I love Maine. Of course I mailed them the check back when I got home and added a hefty thank you tip as well. read more

We have been longtime fans of Erica's however their standards have gone way down and their prices are high. On our recent visit, the clam chowder and fish chowder both were lukewarm, my lobster roll chock full of tasteless lobster, onions rings would have been better referred to as bottom of the bag small onion pieces, something you would toss not serve a customer. Disappointing as in the past their onion rings were large, well fried and delicious, the fish chowder always with a bit of lobster in a hot fish based broth with a rich deep flavor. It was a great run but that was our last visit. Time to find our next Maine lobster shack. read more

I'm a big fan of no-frills places that have an authentic feel and high-quality ingredients and meals. This hit the nail on the head. Tiny shack with outdoor picnic table seating near the working dock. Seemed like locals were hanging out who knew the fishermen and staff. French fries and onion rings are USUALLY very good. Their inconsistent quality is the only ding we have with this place. Sometimes they're crispy and fresh. Sometimes they're soggy and small and cold. If these were consistent, I'd go 5 starts. Non fish choices exist for those who don't want fish. Sides: pretty good. reasonable choices. Maybe a bit small of a serving of coleslaw. Service: Fine. Food comes out quickly. Staff works hard. Drinks: You are limited to the soda machine choices. Bringing your own is a nice option. No frills, no linen tablecloth or someone filling your water glass, but if you want the best straight off the boat seafood at the most reasonable cost this is the place to be. Toby is always smiling and willing to not only help you pick out the perfect lobster (or three), but is super knowledgeable with 40 years of history fishing the cold clear waters so take some time to ask questions. The fresh lobsters and lobster rolls are always fantastic but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu board. Our personal favorites in addition to lobster are the scallops and haddock. While I'm holding a star for the cash only thing...the food was top notch. It was an out.of the way drive to get here, but well worth it. Huge portions, homemade everything except the dipping sauces, and seating right near the dock where the ocean goodies are pulled in gives this place a big time edge. Soft shell lobsters were a steal at 7 dollars for a 1.25 pounder. The native shrimp basket was filled to the top of lightly flour dusted shrimps fried for just a moment till done and not a second more and hand cut fried which were tasty. The special, shrimp cakes, were good...browned on the flat top with a chili mayo. Fried belly clams were done just like the shrimp, served with fried and just perfect...not overdone in the least. Again, I'm keeping a star for cash only service, but the other four I present to them proudly! read more

I went here yesterday with the family for a nice late lunch. We sampled the chowder, the lobster and lobster roll, the shrimp basket, and the haddock sandwich. Everything was freshly prepared and well-executed. The haddock I may have been the best piece of fresh fish I've ever had. The shrimp were likewise excellent. My daughters two lobsters came directly off of a boat and went right into the pot. While the outside seating isn't terribly luxurious the quality of the food and the views made it an incredibly satisfying place to eat and be. Fresh, fresh, fresh! read more

Considerations: - Price ~$13/roll - Freshness - Options for ice cream (which I didn't get) - Location - just over the hill from where the sunsets. - They answer their phone to confirm they're open. So wandering around the 'island' we found that while many of the places claimed they were open on Yelp and Google, they were in fact closed for the off season. This place was open around mid-May. Lobster Roll - you get a decent amount of lobster in the roll. It's not overstuffed with extras, just the roll and lobster. Erica's is a little bit of a drive but for it being so close to 95 it's not that bad. There are definitely better lobster rolls if you go a little bit further in but they do a very good job. This was the best seafood shack experience of our trip. We took about a 45 min detour to visit Erica's and it was 100% worth it. The combination of fresh, delicious seafood and the beautiful setting makes Erica's one of my all-time favorite seafood shacks... joining its peers on the Chesapeake and in the Caribbean. Our food order for 2... - 1 bowl of clam chowder: Literally 2/3 of the container was clam meat, with the odd mussel mixed in. Never seen that much meat in a chowder and loved it. It was creamy and delicious. As my friend found out, a bowl order for one person is ambitious. - 1 cup of seafood chowder: Also had tons of meat. Lobster, clam, mussel, and shrimp. Very tasty and a easier portion to manage. Creamy and warm, which was great for the chilly day. - 1 lobster roll: My favorite lobster roll of the trip. You could really taste the lobster and there was a good amount of meat on the roll. Bun was perfectly toasted and so good I had to go back for another one. Only $12, which was a nice treat compared to some of the other stands. **Went back for more... - 1 lobster roll Erica's is on a small dock area and has a gorgeous view or the land, islands, and ocean around the peninsula. Really relaxing and everything I want while eating seafood. They also offer live lobster and crabs to buy and will cook them for you for $1 per lobster. Will definitely be coming back. Amazing, Simply Amazing. A small lobster shack with a pretty robust menu despite the small size of the kitchen. My wife is a vegetarian, and finding a seafood shack that also does up a solid veggie burger will have us going back again and again. As others have mentioned the prices are extremely reasonable. We had a haddock sandwich and a veggie burger and fries and it was 15 bucks. You cant go wrong with that! After you dine, take a nice walk out to the point of the peninsula and stare out at the bay. Kind of a perfect place to enjoy some food & great views. Also this place is BYOB, so roll up with your own beverages Alcoholic or other and enjoy it all. read more

Can't recommend this shack enough! It was fantastic. The absolute best fried clams, we gobbled those up in record time. One of the sweetest lobster rolls I've ever had--nothing fancy but perfectly cooked lobster meat. And I can't forget the most delicious French fries--skinny, hot, salted--totally addictive. We ate here two days in a row, forgoing other places on our list because it was just too yummy to pass up. Very friendly people here as well, and a great view. The only "negative" is the chowder broth seems a bit under seasoned, but I added salt and pepper from my cutlery package and it improved. Otherwise, it had delicious large pieces of clam and tasted sooooo fresh that I can forgive the under seasoning. Love this place. Will definitely return on our next visit. read more

This used to be a hole in the wall lobster shack that we stumbled on to a long time ago. Back then the service was spectacular and people were personable. Prices were reasonable. Money and popularity has taken away a lot of the charm of this place. This used to be our go to place for lobster whenever we were In the Maine area. We make the pilgrimage every year from either upstate new York or more recently New Jersey. We would get some steamed lobster to eat there and buy a case to go home. We would talk with the owner Tom and they would remember you and make proper recommendations. This time we were very much disappointed. We still talked to Tom. But he didn't remember us because of the amount of customers he has now. We picked up three lobsters. There used to be hard shell and soft shell. Now there is a hard shell normal and a hard shell premium, premium is anything over 2 lbs. $8.00 and $9.00 per pound respectively. There is a dollar per lobster charge to steam it up which used to come with things to crack the lobster bibs etc. That is now extra and required another dollar per lobster. So they are going the way of the airlines. Posting cheap prices but charging you required service fees. Lovely. Our family waited about 30 minutes for the lobsters to steam which is fine as the view of the ocean is spectacular. It then stared to rain and we wanted to take the lobster to go. We were chased down but the staff and was forced to eat the lobsters there. I understand not being able to take the cracking utensil as they reuse them. But we're in America. Why are we not allowed to leave as we chose to? Made me felt like a citizen in a communist country with no freedoms. We did what we could to eat the lobster in the rain and left. But we ended up not buying any additional lobster to take home with us this time. I guess they earned their money on fees but missed out on the big ticket post eating lobster purchase. Penny wise pound foolish. We will come again in the future but will only give one more opportunity. There are numerous places to experience in Maine. Please take this review to hear and make appropriate changes so it gets back to a 5 star location. This has been our go to for the last 15 years but may not be in the future. read more
