My fiancee and I were in town for a wedding and she realized while she was packing that her dress had been damaged during dry cleaning. We didn't have time to take it to our home tailor (who initially altered it to add cups), so we needed someone who could help us same-day. We called Erica's Tailoring and the man who answered said he didn't have a tailor in that day, but that he could do it for us if we came by. Initially we were a little hesitant because of this, but we didn't have many options for our timeline so we decided to trust the mostly positive reviews and give it a chance. I'm so glad we did! The gentleman was very kind and would not accept my fiancee's money at all for the repair. We had taken out cash to bring based on the reviews here and he refused even a tip, so we are happily leaving a positive review, at least, in exchange. Not sure what the heck happened to this place but I had the worst experience I've ever had at a tailors here today. Came in to have a dress taken in for a wedding I am attending and upon putting the dress on was asked how much I paid and told to go buy a new dress.. then when I told the guy that I loved the dress and just wanted to have a slit added and the waist and shoulders taken in he told me that I'm a "big girl" with "big shoulders" and "it's really not as big as I think" (I'm a size 8 and this dress is a size 16 and very clearly too big) He told me that it'd be a lot of work to take the sleeves up at the shoulders and tried to tell me to leave the sleeves how they are so I can move better.. and then when I said okay then never mind because I don't think it looks good he was all no, no, no, I can do it, I can do it... Just an absolutely overall horrible experience, I left there wanting to cry and walked out. Incredibly unprofessional and clearly a lack of care for his customers. read more

They saved my wedding dress after it was ruined by the alterations at the shop where I purchased it (Designer's Loft in NYC). With less than a week to go until the wedding, I was delivered a dress with all of the alterations butchered (too big at the bust, too small in the back, bustle done wrong, beading missing, stains on the dress. I brought in 4 panels that were 94" and needed to be 89" - this would allow them to just touch the floor. This is not a big deal. Or so I thought. When I got them back and hung them up, assuming I could finally check this off my to-do list, they were clearly not the right length. Well, 1 panel was and 3 were not. 2 were 88", 1 was 88.5". Seriously? Maybe it seems small but it's not. What IS small is the request to hem a drapery panel. No different than a pair of pants, really. I brought them back and had to explain, a little more than I think I should have had to, that I JUST picked these up about 45 minutes ago and they aren't the correct length. The woman, who was nice enough, thought someone else had done them and I was asking HER to fix the incorrect work someone else had done. I explained that someone in her shop had done them. I made a big deal that it wasn't a rush, because it wasn't. I thanked her and left. I just picked the 3 panels up and now 2 are the wrong length and 1 is correct. I can't do this anymore. I went here because I figured it would be a safe bet. I'm really disappointed and just don't trust them to get it right. I'm really kind of shocked. I've gone to fly-by-night dry cleaners, paid 1/2, and gotten what I paid for. Now hiring the handyman to lower the curtain rod is going to cost me an additional $75. read more

I ordered my wedding dress online from David's Bridal and when it came in the back did not zip up, and it definitely needed to be let out a few inches. I only had about three weeks until my wedding and I was freaking out so I called around a few places to get an idea of how possible this was to fix it in this time frame. Erica asked me to bring it by that day and when I got there and tried it on and she said she could have it ready in two weeks. I was elated! Though I was skeptical because I didn't have experience with having dresses altered. I came to the store two weeks later and tried on the dress and it fit PERFECTLY! When it came to alterations for my wedding dress I was extremely nervous just handing my dress over to anyone. Most places were booked up but I found Erica's Tailoring through some suggestions from other people. My first appointment was great. I felt confident with everything we discussed would need to be done to make it perfect. Today I went for my 2nd appointment which they said it would be ready to take home. I put the dress on and it was taken in at the waist which we didn't ask for it to be as it fit perfectly to my waist. Plus the stitching was not even closed. The open back was not laying right and was supposed to be fixed and no work had been done to it at all. And to top it off, they were not using the hanger straps for the dress to help hold up the heavy fabric and keep the weight off of the actual strap which is now ripping!!! The man there did not think any of this was a big deal and accused us of bringing the dress with the strap already ripped, which it definitely was not!!! They wanted to keep it and fixed it but we walked out and refused to leave it. We paid them for the hem and bustle, which was done properly, but nothing else. I am extremely upset and so is my mother who paid $3,000 for this dress that is now ripping because it was not taken care of and does not fit me. Do not recommend!!!! read more

Got a maxi dress hemmed here in August for a wedding I was going to. I tried to explain to the man that did the measurements and puff marks that I wanted some of my feet to show and asked if he could make the marks higher up. He insisted that he was going to make it perfect so I trusted him. Long story short I come back for the dress and it's way too long and he tried telling me it has as perfect as my shoes stepped on it. The hem was also crooked. I brought a coat in to ask about the cost to replace the lining (it was my mom's coat). The man (who I believe owns the business with his wife) told me that he didn't know if he would be able to find the correct lining to do the alterations. I left the coat and my mother's phone number with the understanding that he would call my mom if he was able to find the lining, and not to do anything to the coat (including dry clean it) until he quoted her a price. 2 weeks later (I dropped 2 bags off to be shipped off and cleaned at the time I dropped the coat off) I called on a Friday and was told that I would be called back. I was never called back. The following Monday I called and was told the coat was done and it was $130 for the alterations. I was shocked. That was more than my mom paid for the coat. I was told that the man would call me back regarding this issue. I was never called back. The following day I went to the store. The man was there. I asked him why he went ahead with the alteration without ever letting my mom (or myself) know the price). He told me that he would call my mom and "work something out". In addition, my two bags had been sitting there for 2 weeks (the time he told me it would take for them to be sent out and cleaned) - the cleaner did not do that type of bag. Why he didn't call to tell me this was the case and to come pick them up is beyond me. Today (yesterday is when I stopped by) I talked to my mom. She picked up her coat and paid $130. The nicest thing that he did was let her use her credit card to pay for it when the cashier insisted on cash or check and she had neither on her. I cannot believe that someone would go through with an expensive alteration (or any alteration for that matter) without consulting a client. I tried to reach him via the phone but he is at home today. What's done is done but I would not recommend this tailor/dry cleaner for even a simple dry cleaning/alteration after this experience. read more

So I met Erica frantically after searching for an emergency tailor one Tuesday morning after trying on my wedding dress and realizing I had lost a little too much weight after having it tailored the first time. I was frantic because we were eloping and leaving for our wedding Wednesday morning, so with less then 24 hours I had no idea if getting my dress taken in was even a possibility. I went in and she pinned my dress and told me she was going to do everything she could to get it done for me that day. They closed at 7pm and she called me at 5 to let me know it was finished.
