I forgot how I came across Erich's website, but we were extremely fortunate to hire him as one of our first wedding vendors. He worked with us on the engagement shoot, our tea ceremony, and wedding day -- all the photos turned out remarkable. It was important to us that Erich was aware of our outfit choices and details along the way. They are images we will remember for the rest of our lives! In particular, we love how the candid shots really captured precious moments of interaction and particularly the smiles among family and friends. Erich's technical sensibility was impressive and he knew how we should pose. Since we are similar in height and size, Erich knew what to do. Everything felt right and we felt comfortable. Though we got tired towards the end of each session, he was always there to keep our energy up and the photos do a remarkable job of showing his ability to capture a feeling. He knew how we should be framed and some of the best photos he captured were ones we felt awkward posing in but we never doubted the vision! He also came with referrals for a videographer, which we were so lucky to have found through his help. They made a great team and worked well together.

Go with Erich, I promise you won't regret it. When you work with him you can tell he has so much experience because he asks you silly, random prompts to elicit the most honest, pure reactions. My husband and I did our engagement shoot with him and were soooo pleased with the results. We, admittedly, are pretty awkward in front of cameras but Erich made us feel so comfortable. We just got our wedding photos and our jaws dropped. We had a sense of overwhelming joy, nostalgia, and a little bit of sadness because the day passed by so quickly. We'll have these photos to cherish forever. I can't thank Erich enough for what he's done for us!! Amazing! Gorgeous! Fun! Yay! - I really can't find the right words to describe how incredible our experience was working with Erich as our photographer for both our engagement and wedding photos. He's not only a pro with years of experience (and it shows in the quality of his work) but also delightful and fun to work with. Highly recommend doing an engagement session with him first, so by the time your wedding comes around you're practically best friends. Who text each other about the Clippers. True story. Honestly, for whatever your photography needs are, he is your guy. He will make sure you are taken care of, look good and enjoy yourself. He'll help you pick out outfits, knows how to get the right lighting at golden hour and can make your decision of picking a high traffic, under construction intersection photo location in Inglewood look AH-MAZING. Also true story. I feel so fortunate to have been able to work with him. So if you're looking into booking him, just DO IT!

Right off the bat 11/10 would recommend Erich to be your photographer. Don't even hesitate, just do it. We were looking for a wedding photographer and we discovered Erich through our day-of coordination from Ah, Love Events (Helen Hong). What was important to me in our vendor selection was how well I *clicked* with each vendor. From Erich and I's first video call, you could tell that he knew his craft, was very professional, and genuinely wanted to capture our special day the way we saw it. Throughout our time together, Erich was timely in responses to our questions, receptive to our feedback, and helped two very camera-awkward people capture some amazing moments. We had the lucky experience of shooting our engagement photos in Tokyo! Here we both got a feel of how photo+couple worked as a unit (I will always recommend the engagement shoot with your photographer. It's worth the money to get a preview of how your wedding will be). I personally have a hard time with the thought of being as a direct photo subject. Erich's direction style is a mix of how-to pose (which is what we desperately needed) and conversation prompts to capture our genuine expressions (which is what was most imps to me - big ugly smiles). By the end of the night I was much more comfortable and kept telling We had such a fun time doing a nighttime shoot and will now forever have photos to commemorate such a special trip for us. Bonus - we used a bunch of those photos as decorations around our wedding! On our actual wedding day, it rained and we had to pivot last minute to our rain plan. Erich and his second shooter Jackie were incredible, both standing the rain as the rest of us stayed dry under the awning for wedding party photos. Throughout the night, they were calm, professional, and honestly I didn't even notice them around after we were done with formal photos (In the best way possible!). They were blended seamlessly in the crowd capturing all the little moments that were so impt to me. When we got our previews the next morning (and so early in the morning too!) I literally was tearing up at how much I loved them already. Our friends and families are obsessed with the previews and we cannot wait till our full collection is finished! We look forward to working with Erich in the future to capture our next big moments!

Erich did an absolutely amazing job documenting our proposal. He set up a beautiful flower heart that I proposed in with a rose peddle path and tiki torches that looked straight out of a movie. He got every single moment of the proposal captured flawlessly with a perfect sunset lighting background. What a fantastic job.

Erich is incredibly talented. Great eye, beautiful retouching, friendly and easy to work with, and knows how to get everyone comfortable in front of the camera. We received so many gorgeous photos from our reasonably modest backyard wedding and he captured not only the big moments (coming down the aisle, first kiss, recessional, cake cutting, etc), but also amazing candid shots of us getting ready and our guests at the reception. I was also worried that Erich had to work around some challenging direct sunlight, but it was not an issue for him at all. I highly recommend Erich!!!

I don't normally write reviews as you can clearly see by my lack of any previous ones on here, but I am beyond excited my first one is for Erich! Before you read any further just do yourself a favor and hire him, you will not regret it! We had Erich shoot our engagement and wedding photos both of which turned out amazing, we literally couldn't stop sharing them with family and friends. The biggest thing that stood out to me about Erich occurred before we even decided to go with him. During our first Zoom meeting rather than getting into a sales pitch (like many others we talked to) of packages he offers / how he works/ his shooting style etc. he took the time to really get to know us. Our story of how we met, things we enjoy doing together, our backgrounds, families, and much more which instantly established a level of comfort that made our decision a no brainer. Headed into the engagement shoot my fiancé and I were nervous just thinking about posing in front of a camera for 2+ hours however those feelings quickly disappeared once Erich began working. He asked us silly questions about each other and seriously had what felt like an unlimited number of prompts for us to talk about which made the whole experience so much fun. He truly does a great job making you feel comfortable which helps with those lovely candid moments he is so great at capturing. We couldn't wait to work with him again on our wedding day! He made everything seamless and easy for us, capturing the magic and energy of our special day. We could not believe how beautiful the photos were, mostly because we couldn't believe that was us in them! He does a great job making everything fun and lighthearted while still capturing all the important memories and all the ones we couldn't be a part of. I loved being able to see our wedding through his lens as we obviously we note able to be everywhere at once. There we things we were bound to miss however looking at the photos, seeing our family and friends having a great time instantly transported us back into the moment. Erich, thanks for making us look like cover models and for all your hard work. I cannot recommend him enough, choosing Erich will be the best decision you make!

We are so incredibly thankful we were able to have Erich as our wedding photographer! We chose Erich because he is simply SO talented. His eye for photography is unmatched and his skill is apparent compared to many other wedding photographers out there. It's easy to take cookie cutter, cutesy wedding photos - what's actually difficult is taking timeless, classic, editorial-style wedding photos that will last through the decades. Erich does this brilliantly. We were impressed by Erich's professionalism, among many other great qualities. Erich is personable, kind, understanding, and open to our ideas. Man, this is going to be a hard review to write. Not because there is anything bad (because there isn't) but it's difficult to write all the many great things about Erich and how beautiful his pictures are. My girl found Erich through another couple that Erich shot with and she loved the pictures. As we were planning our wedding and assembling our dream team, she showed me Erich's work and it was an easy sell and an immediate yes. Little did I know, that was the tip of the iceberg. We first had to meet Erich which we did first through a zoom and there was already chemistry. If you don't know Erich, he has a really chill demeanor but he is as upbeat and positive as anyone can be. We started talking about common interests which made it easy since we both like basketball and after the small talk, we were able to tell him what we were looking for in our photos and our photographer, all of which Erich hit on. We already know we wanted Erich and it was up to him to accept which he did and we were excited that the photography portion of the wedding was done. As the date got closer to our wedding date, Erich stayed in touch and always kept us up to date with what his ideas were and also was flexible with whatever we needed. As a couple, we wanted to have our engagement photos shot downtown and around the city and Erich was able to find the best spots. He also made the photoshoot fun making us laugh when we least expected it and making sure we were posing as he wanted based upon the time of day and background he had. On the wedding day, Erich and his fellow co-photographer (she was wonderful and I can only remember her as J as we called each other only by our initials) were not only professional but went that extra mile and then some. We had photos shot throughout the day and the wedding and it never seemed like the photography team were tired (even though I know they must've been exhausted). The charm of both photographers shined when we had to take photos with the wedding party and to this day, anybody who has seen our wedding photos have gushed about how great they look. My last thing to add was my favorite: Erich pulled an audible long after he was done shooting. During the party portion of the night, Erich saw a shot that he had to take and he quickly grabbed his camera and got a "in the moment" shot which we are so happy he did. Huge thanks to him and Lady J for taking the best photos of our big day, one that we will cherish forever and one where we knew we made the best decision picking Erich Chen and his fantastic photography and team. Do yourself a favor and get Erich to take pictures for whatever event you have, it'll be worth the memories you'll get to cherish later on.

TL;DR: Just hire Erich, you won't regret it. I saw that he already has a plethora of amazing reviews, and I can only echo what has already been said. I'm quite picky when it comes to photos, and style is a personal preference, but Erich's coloring and shot composition is top-notch. He was a great resource when it came to planning elements of our wedding, always quick responses with honest, professional opinions. For us, he advised against using glow-sticks as a substitute for sparklers in our grand exit (our venue deemed sparklers a fire-hazard), and suggested using bubbles instead. Looking back, we are so glad we asked, as the results were phenomenal. Another thing, this man is a master at prompts. The rapid-fire prompts really helped us loosen up during our couple and wedding party photos, and made the overall process so fun and comfortable, even for the hates-center-of-attention me. As mentioned in other reviews, Erich is extremely professional. The week leading up to our wedding, Erich had a sore throat and was very transparent and cautious with the situation, including offering to find a replacement photographer in the event that he couldn't take photos for our special day. Thankfully it turned out to be just the common cold rather than covid, but this type of honest communication and integrity when the rubber meets the road really makes Erich stand out. It's rare for someone to only have 5 star reviews on Yelp, but I am confident that our experience was only one of many shared amongst those that hired Erich.

My wife and I hired Erich to photograph both of our weddings and do our engagement photos, and the entire experience could not have been better. From Erich's sincere attention in getting to know our personalities and relationship dynamics to his professionalism in putting us at ease during portrait sessions to his command of everyone present when directing for photos to his talented and creative artistic eye, Erich was an amazing photographer and really helped to capture incredible memories to last a lifetime. Full disclosure: I already knew Erich as a casual friend through mutual circles, but we interviewed him with the same rigor as all of the photographers we contacted when we were first looking. What really first won us over was when, during the interview video call, Erich helped plan our engagement shoot that we had been struggling with ideas over, going as far as to literally storyboard it and be agreeable to an afternoon and evening shoot in the desert at a site that held sentimental value for my wife's and my relationship. Despite the very high heat on the day of the shoot, Erich helped put us at ease and had fantastic and fun cues and prompts that elicited our quirky and not-too-serious nature, resulting in photographs that were ridiculous and touching and epic. We were one of the many couples who had to postpone our wedding due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but we wanted to have a small civil ceremony on our original wedding date anyway. Erich captured our beautiful day with a masterful and experienced touch, helping arrange our small group at our "impromptu" ceremony site and following up with some creative and marvelous portraits after the ceremony. On our eventual big day, Erich and his second shooter, Lauren, were both amazing, keeping everyone relaxed but organized and capturing all of the beats of the day, from the serious to the silly. Erich's professionalism also showed in his planning and scouting of our site prior to the wedding, which helped brainstorm great photography sites for different moments in the schedule. But Erich also wasn't afraid to call an audible and take advantage of great photographic moments when they arose. All of this added up to an amazing wedding experience with Erich. We are so glad that he could capture our big day(s!), and we would and have highly recommended him to our friends. Thank you, Erich!!

What can I say, Erich is a true professional! He's highly experienced, respectful, and knows what's up. We were a bit behind on schedule on our wedding ceremony day, and it also unexpectedly rained, but he kept us moving along and took some excellent shots. I also loved that he gave us sneak peeks of the photos within a few days, and deliverables in 2.5 weeks. At the end of the day, the quality of his work speaks for itself. Erich embodies the qualities of a great photographer, a stand-up comedian, and a GQ cover model. He is the rare photographer that knows how to make my husband and I laugh at his odd requests to tell each other how much we love each other in various accents and situations. Sessions with him are a mix of charades and a verbal version of Cards of Humanity. He makes it so easy to be easy in front of a camera. To up the ante, his eye for beautiful moments, structures, and lighting creates pictures that take you right back to the fun and emotional parts of your best days. I had absolutely no one else in mind to take pictures of our engagement and our wedding and thank the universe for cosmically aligning itself to have Erich available for our wedding day. We had a literary themed backyard wedding at a small tavern in Old Town Temecula. Despite the limited space, minimalist design, and a good handful of crazy people, Erich and his remarkable team used all their resources and ingenuity to scout out locations for our wedding party photos, wrangle various people into group photos, and manage to make our intimate and of a wedding into photo-smorgasbord of visual awesomeness. From getting ready to reception dance time, they did not miss a minute of the action and got an incredible amount of shots of us, our wedding party, and all our guests in instances of sexiness, embarrassment, ugly-crying, and unfettered joy of various levels. This from my newly-minted husband: Erich and his team are the modern day Da Vinci's in the form of photographers. We hope that Erich lives longer than us so he can take pictures at our funeral and make them look like a rock concert. read more

Erich Chen is simply amazing. He takes beautiful photos and makes our wedding/ engagement pics more fun! We are such awkward couples and Erich & team immediately put us at ease. He is so easy to get a hold of, super fast at getting back to us with any questions we had, very professional and it's clear he's had so much experience doing what he does. If you want incredible photos to remember a special day in your life, Erich is THE photographer to do it. Period. We asked Erich to do our engagement and wedding shoots after seeing his previous work. And wow did he deliver! He was extremely professional, but kept us loose and having fun. My wife and I don't do photo shoots but we felt so comfortable with Erich directing us. Time really flew by and everything was so easy. We trusted him and he really came through. Erich has a real knack for understanding spacing, lighting and angles to capture all the perfect moments. But he also puts in a lot of work before hand, doing his due diligence with scouting the venue/location and communicating often with the planner and anyone invovled. There are photographers with a lot of experience and there are those with a lot of talent. Erich is the perfect combination of both. You don't even have to trust me. Read the other reviews. Look at his body of work. Make your special day less stressful by hiring this guy. He's worth it! read more

Such a great experience with Erich! I highly recommend him. He is very professional and very easy going and that's what attracted my attention the most. Aside from being artistic, he knew how to handle a challenging circumstance: taking family shots with a disabled parent and a newborn. I first learned about Erich through my husband. After looking at his work, I instantly knew I wanted him take our engagement and wedding photos. What drew me in was his style of photography. He captured precious moments in a candid way that didn't look staged but quite natural. It was in the moment type of photography that depicted the emotions, vibe and atmosphere and I'm all about that! He is able to produce the coolest photos in any given setting and make you look so good. I personally don't like to be in front of the camera lens, but Erich made it very easy and fun with his technique. You kind of forget you're being photographed because you're busy smiling and laughing answering random questions. He will put you at ease. He is talented and attentive and you'll be very happy with his work. It was such a pleasure working with him and we're so grateful to have such beautiful photos of our special day that we will be cherishing for the rest of our lives thanks to Erich! We've been hiring Erich for our annual christmas card photos for 3 years, and we hired him recently for another family photo session. Each time, the pictures turned out BEAUTIFUL! Erich is a true professional that is so easy to work with, always quick to respond, and photos turnaround are super fast! Once, we had the photo session at around 5pm, and we got the photos (edited and all) at 8am the next day. He said he was going to catch an international flight that day but wanted to make sure that we got the files before he left for his trip. I mean... I have nothing else to say . Erich was recommended to us by our wedding planner, and we absolutely loved him!!!!! Erich and his team photographed our two wedding celebrations, one in LA and one in SD. He made us feel so comfortable during the session and captured some of the best candid shots. He is very genuine and kind and easy to work with. My relatives loved that fact of how professional Erich was, and how efficient he was when it came to family photos. His communication response time is quick. After meeting with Erich, we knew we wanted to go with him because his style of photography is very unique and he is very personable. Erich was both our engagement pictures photographer and wedding photographer and he did an awesome job on both. He really takes the time to understand me and my husband's story and vision and then creates something that is beyond our imagination. Not only was he able to put our vision and story to life, he was easy to work with - giving easy instructions and making us comfortable. An example will be having my now-husband saying a phrase in a funny accent then me laughing in response and that image will come out being beautiful with such simple instructions. One thing I was also really happy about was the quick and effective turnaround time for photos! We were able to see sneak peaks just a couple days after our wedding and he provided a timeline of when I should expect all my photos and delivered in exactly that timeframe - while some of my friends' who has gotten married just a couple months prior still hasn't gotten sneak peaks let alone their photos. Personable, Professional, and in a good way no nonsense. My wife and I met with Erich after a friend dropped his name around March of 2018. We met for tea, he brought samples, and didn't try to sell us on anything. Pricing was presented up front in his own unique way. My now wife really liked Erich because she was able to connect with him right away. I had my reservations but now that the wedding has passed and we have our photos I'm sold. I've been following Erich's photography for a few years and have seen his work blossom from really good into fan-freakin-tastic. Erich is a true professional and takes his job both seriously and with a sense of humor. This makes working with him easy and what you end up with fan-freakin-tastic. His prices are affordable and his photo packages flexible and complete. This guy can photograph anything from ducks to souljaboy (both of which he has). But what he really has going for him is an authentic sense of creativity and style. I feel like some photographers use Photoshop as a crutch to make a boring picture pretty or a standard photo more colorful. Erich gets it right from the start and then just uses the Photoshop to enhance what he already captured. Quirky angles, fun scenes and really capturing your personality are why we went with him for our engagement and wedding photos. We're thoroughly happy with our engagement shots (see above) and can't wait for our wedding - not only will we be married, but we'll have pictures! And how good will they be? My wife and I chose to work with Erich for our wedding photography because he really impressed us during our first meeting with his professionalism and creativity. He's extremely personable, and put us immediately at ease. We knew right away that he was the right photographer for us. Two months after the wedding, I can say that I'm truly glad we went with him. The photos from our engagement and the wedding day are stunning and we're extremely happy with the end product. A lot of other reviewers have mentioned how good Erich is at eliciting reactions from couples by making them feel at ease, cracking funny jokes and making them answer hilarious questions about each other during the photo sessions. I couldn't agree more. Erich has a real knack for getting candid shots by making the process fun and interacting a lot with couples. In addition to getting the perfect mid-laughter photo, it also makes the day a ton of fun and the whole process breeze by. Another great thing about Erich is that he's really dedicated to his craft and patient and hardworking about getting the perfect shot. Whether it means climbing on top of a boulder to get a cool angle, or waiting until sunset to get the perfect lighting, he really went the extra mile for us. It really shows up in the quality of the results. We have some incredible shots that are really breathtaking. We were a 2020 couple, and so when we had to postponed, Erich was great at rescheduling our new date. He made it easy and stress-free. Last minute we decided to do a backyard micro-wedding and we obviously wanted him to photograph it. We're so happy he did. Erich is a really personable and calm guy, which you absolutely need in a vendor when wedding planning. He really did go the extra mile to get the shots he thought would look great (which it did). We hired him because of his style of photography where his subjects looked natural and each photo tells a story (photojournalistic). He gives you enough direction where you don't feel pressured but don't feel lost at what to do. We felt so at ease with him when we did our engagement pictures at Big Bear in the winter, and the groomsmen kept complimenting him since he made them feel at ease for both the micro-wedding and the wedding day. He's such a great guy to converse with as and he was awesome on the dance floor. He went the extra mile for us and took sunset photos of us at our micro-wedding when we didn't originally plan for it. He's always down to make sure he gets the shots that bring the best out of us. At the same time, he's quick at getting those shots. I never felt that he was fighting the itinerary my wedding planner made. He really knows how to manage time based on our needs. And the photos he captures are priceless. He did an absolutely amazing job capturing those pockets of happy moments. The photos are stunning and natural. Truly, we lucked out in getting him for both wedding days. Erich was the photographer for our wedding. We found him through our videographer (Chris Ace) who highly recommended him since they work well together (they've been friends since they were little). Having them cover our wedding was the best decision ever. Erich was amazing the day of. He showed up with a great team, took pictures, told us what to do, handled our crazy family, and kept us laughing the whole time. Everything turned out absolutely perfect and it was so low maintenance. All I literally needed to do was show up and enjoy my day. Erich and everyone else literally took care of everything to make sure we got great pictures. 5 Stars is not enough-Erich and his work deserve at least 50 stars. Erich shot our engagement, wedding, and trash-the-dress (day after the wedding) pictures, and they're all ridiculously gorgeous. He's an amazingly talented artist who will take pictures beyond your imagination and handle the business end of things professionally and promptly. We had our pictures less than a month after each session. During the sessions, he gave great direction and put us at ease very quickly. He's very easy-going and fun-loving, and makes it very easy to be around him and follow his lead. (Have I mentioned that working with him is easy?!) My husband and I don't really consider ourselves photogenic, but he made us look like models. It amazed me how many tiny, precious moments he captured during our wedding ceremony that I would have never seen or remembered otherwise. He will travel anywhere (loves it, in fact) and if you feed him great food, he will love you forever. Even before my fiancé and I got engaged, I had been following Erich for quite some time. Erich's work caught my eye because it felt like he captured it just photos of people, but their emotions as well. When my fiancé and I finally got engaged, Erich's portfolio was pretty much the only one that he gravitated towards so we booked an appointment to meet with him and that was the end of our search. Erich is highly personable, professional, and fun! We were both worried we'd be awkward in front of the camera during our engagement shoot, but Erich had his way of making us feel comfortable and we absolutely could not stop laughing. What an honor it was for Erich to be our photographer! He made our engagement and wedding sessions fun and brought out a very natural look! (This is saying a lot! I don't take many pictures, so I haven't quite figured out my "good side" when it comes to taking pictures). We were so comfortable with him and went wherever he told us to go - to the point of standing at the edge of a cliff. Even though it was scary, Erich's eye caught the best view and his pictures came out beautifully! For our wedding, he said that we'll be taking pictures in the parking lot. A PARKING LOT. Needless to say, we trusted him, and somehow... you would never be able to guess that's where we took some of our wedding day pictures. He's an amazing guy and photographer!!! I have been following Erich Chen Photography for years on Instagram, and I have always admired his ability to take stunning photos just about anywhere. He has such a great eye for what works, and I knew that he would be the perfect photographer for my quirky husband and I, so we booked him for both engagement and wedding day photos. Define quirky, you say? Well, we decided on taking our pictures at Alameda Naval Air Station. Naval Air Station Alameda was a United States Navy Naval Air Station in Alameda, California, on San Francisco Bay. It has countless old hangars and buildings in various states of disrepair. Not exactly the place you'd go for stunning engagement photos. But I knew that if anyone could make this crazy juxtaposition of traditional Vietnamese attire and old, dilapidated buildings, it would be Erich. And the photos were perfection. Our wedding photos were taken at a much more mundane, stereotypical place: Elk Grove Regional Park. There just weren't any places unique enough for my taste near our venue, so we went with this location. I will confess that I was concerned I would be disappointed with the pictures - not because of Erich's lack of skill - but because the location left me uninspired. Silly me for not trusting fully in Erich's skill because I am absolutely in love with our photos. There is nothing mundane or uninspiring about them. I don't know how he does it, but he manages to bring out your personality so that the pictures breathe that life, that energy, no matter where they're taken. As for etiquette and all those other things you look for in a photographer, Erich delivers 100%. I think for the experience and photos you get at the end of it all, his prices are more than reasonable. Of all the wedding budget items you can try to keep down, your photos should not be one of them. At the end of the day, I still feel like I got the better end of our deal because I have amazing pictures that help me relive the joy and love I felt that day. Just book him. It's impossible to regret it. read more

We found Erich on Instagram and absolutely loved his work. His candid shots of other couples made us feel like he fully captured their emotions. We really connect immediately with Erich when we had our first conversation with him. He was interested in our background as individuals and through that whole introduction he genuinely cared and it was apparent he was just as excited for our wedding day too. Erich is easy going and made us feel so comfortable moving forward with him. We love how direct he was on the actual wedding day he knew exactly want he wanted with each shot and while at the same time he gave us the freedom to pick our specific poses. Absolutely amazing experience! We were so happy we had Erich as our photographer. He responded quickly to text messages and email questions. Not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera but Erich made it feel like we were professional models. He was able to get our poses to the T for both the engagement session and wedding day and captured all the highlights beautifully. Erich also sent a questionnaire a few weeks prior to the wedding so he had the timeline on hand to ensure we got all the shots we wanted for the wedding day. We cannot recommend Erich enough. He did our engagement photos which were amazing, and so it was a no brainer to seek him out to do our wedding day photos as well. His photo session fees are incredible for the LA area. He worked with us on locations, doing pre-photo shoot virtual meetup to get to know us and to hear about our vision. Erich has a very unique style, and has a great eye - he gets you comfortable during shoots so that pictures come out candidly (be prepared to laugh and have a great time with his fun questions he asks before he takes the photo). Let Erich do his thing and trust his process. We thought our engagement photos were amazing, but the wedding ones turned out even better and really showcased all the highlights of the evening. read more

Erich Chen is such an amazing photographer! We were lucky enough to have him shoot for both our engagement and wedding. He really tries to get to know the couple before the photography session and uses his creativity to let their true personalities shine in the photos. I was very particular on how I wanted my engagement photos to look, which required quite a drive. Erich was very welcoming to our ideas on the location of the session.. he even climbed hills with us to get the perfect shot. He used his humor to fish out our natural smile, but remained professional the entire time. Our photos came out even better than expected and I am truly so in love with them! During our wedding, Erich was able to capture every single important moments with our friends and family. Our MC made us do a very awkward "dip kiss"during the wedding.. but Erich was able to make it look so natural in the photo. We picked Erich as our photographer because of how unique his photos were. We were referred to Erich by a mutual friend after several failed attempts at finding the right photographer. After one meeting with Erich, we were sold. He was extremely personable and professional. While most meetings seemed like giant sales pitches, Erich was genuinely interested in learning about us. We ended up choosing Erich for our engagement shoot as well as our wedding. Prior to the shoots, he was responsive to all of our emails/texts. For the locations we picked, he was able to provide his professional opinion such as time of day where it'll be less crowded and how we can get the most out of the location. On the day of the event, he was on time and prepared. He has his method of getting everyone to look natural, and that includes getting the children/toddlers to look at the camera too! Due to the pandemic, our wedding plans completely changed. We had last minute changes to the venue and date. We were extremely lucky that Erich was available and accommodating to these changes. Erich was amazing!!! He was a very calming presence during this stressful time and helped plan the last minute first look and wedding photos. Erich is a great photographer, amazing at documenting the day, and extremely flexible!!! He was able to capture very beautiful candid moments of us, as well as great guided/posed pictures. He was very subtle and funny comments that made us laugh throughout the entire shoot. The photos are amazing!!! He was so responsive and has great turn-around time. I'm almost at a loss for words with how happy we are that we chose Erich as our engagement session and wedding photographer! I had found him on Instagram and immediately loved his style--his photos come across as natural, with the personalities of the subject shining through! He has such a great eye, and I knew that I wanted him to photograph our wedding from the get go. I didn't even bother meeting with other photographers. When you know, you know! Erich himself is super easy to work with, very professional, and incredibly skilled at what he does. His technique for getting natural responses out of people is nothing short of hilarious and effective! He made the engagement session a breeze to do and we absolutely loved our photos. I also couldn't believe we got our photos within a week or so of the session. Erich is seriously on top of his turnaround time! The wedding process and photos were equally awesome. We were so lucky to have Erich be the photographer for our wedding (he also our engagement shoot). Erich is fantastic to work with, and if we ever need pictures taken again, he would be the first person we call! Also, overall he's just a fun person to hang out with (and just happens to be taking pictures of you). We had spoken to many different photographers, but his photos and personality outshined all the others. He always quickly responded to any questions we had and willing to chat with us over the phone to figure out logistics. And for the photos themselves, he had a very quick turnaround time for both the engagement (~1-2 weeks) and wedding (1 month). He gives us an online album as well as mails us a USB with all the photos. On the wedding day itself (or during a shoot), he's able to get you out of your shell and make the couple feel truly comfortable in the moment. For the couple and bridal party photos, he gave us words games and scenarios to play out to make us smile, laugh, be lovey dovey, look ridiculous(ly awesome), dance, and just look like you're straight out of a fashion magazine. During the reception, he was able to capture all the sweet, fun, important, and spontaneous moments. As a result, the pictures came out amazingly, and we (as well as everyone at the wedding) looked oh so happy and having a great time! Erich Chen Photography specializes in Wedding and Portrait Photography in the Los Angeles, Orange County, and surrounding areas. Established in 2007.

Erich Chen started out as a photographer for the newspaper at the University of California, Riverside. Not too long after that he became the photo editor, but continued to photograph all different events such as sports, concerts, and other events. Because of his experience working at a newspaper, his style of photography is naturally photojournalistic. Meaning he captures moments when they happen and as they happen, in ways that are both creative and unobtrusive. He has won several awards for his photojournalism. After graduating in 2007 Erich ventured off into shooting weddings, portraits, and fashion for various magazines, websites, companies, and media outlets. Some of his more popular clients include KIIS FM, Papaya Clothing, Aveda Los Angeles, Skinnie Magazine, and URB magazine. Now Erich is just focusing mainly on weddings and fashion.

He suggested doing an engagement shoot since it would "prepare" us for getting directed on our wedding day. Even though we went through various venues that ended up canceling on short notice, John was very flexible and accommodating. At the end, he suggested doing a outdoor night shoot in downtown Los Angeles. Since we wanted a tango dance-themed shoot, we came prepared with some poses; however, John was certainly prepared with his own dance poses that he researched on his own. His style stems from his years of film-making experience. The resulting photos were absolutely amazing; our friends and family loved the photos. Over the years Todd and I have had the pleasure to watch Erich capture some of our closest friends' most important moments (Engagements, Weddings, Pregnancies, Baby, and Family Photos) but it wasn't that he just "captured" the moment; it was the fact that their special memories came to life in truly magical ways under Erich's direction. It was an easy decision, when it came for Todd and I to choose our wedding photographer, for we were lucky enough to be let in on the best secret from so many of our friends---the talent that is Erich Chen Photography. Honestly, Todd and I approached our 1st photo session with Erich, which was our Engagement Session, with some nerves for we both had not been in front of the camera in a long time. I look back and laugh at how unnecessary it was to feel that way. Erich has a really calm energy when he is working that is infectious. His direction, demeanor, and personality quickly put Todd and I at ease. The results of our Engagement and Wedding photos are extraordinarily beautiful, unique and truly exceptional. Erich's creativity, innovation, and originality as an artist is what sets him apart from other photographers. In my opinion a lot of wedding photographers take standard, unimaginative, and cheesy photos. They always seem to showcase awkward wedding poses that do not represent the couple's personality or the bridal parties' for that matter as well. Erich's photos are organic, real, and genuinely represent who you are as a couple. This is where the magic comes in: Erich's eye. His artistic ability is truly inspiring and one to watch. He is not afraid to live outside the box, and that is what is so refreshing to see in an artist. I strongly encourage anyone who is looking for a photographer to delve deeper into Erich's photos--for they speak volumes. Todd and I received numerous compliments and continue to whenever someone runs across them. Erich came highly recommended by a close friend of ours. From the first phone call we had together, Erich was so nice and easy to talk to. After getting to know more about my fiancé and I, we decided to have our engagement session in Palm Springs. That day ended up being a disaster on our part. Long story short, we were almost two hours late for Erich. I felt so terrible!! When we arrived though, Erich was not even upset and was so understanding. He further reassured us that we still had enough time to get some good shots in. I feel like my fiancé and I are so awkward when it comes to posing for photos, but Erich made everything look natural and was able to capture our true emotions by asking us silly questions during the shoot. Even though that day began rocky, we loved how our photos turned out and had so much fun using them for our STD's and other bridal shower/wedding decor. Fast forward almost six months later, my fiancé and I had to make the difficult decision to postpone our wedding due to COVID. We had actually booked another photographer for our big day, only because we pictured a different style of photos for our big wedding. My fiancé and I couldn't imagine waiting another year to get married though, so we decided to have a micro backyard wedding and were thrilled that Erich could be our photographer again. He did not disappoint, and once again we love how our photos turned out! He was able to perfectly capture all the details and precious moments of our micro wedding. Words can't describe how positive our experience was working with Erich and his team for our wedding. All the photos were extremely well taken. Everyone always told me that their wedding day goes by so fast, and they were NOT lying. Going through all the photos, I felt like I was reliving moments that I knew I probably missed because your girl had to go to the restroom a million times. LOL Aside from the photos itself, Erich and his team were so accommodating on all our requests. I know we were a bit delayed, but Erich made sure we stayed on time AND got all the photos we wanted. He was extremely communicative and professional before the big day as well. He had an extensive questionnaire to make sure he doesn't miss a beat on what the couple wants. Erich and his entire team are THE BEST. Took into consideration the style and look I wanted for our wedding photos and they turned out perfect. My husband and I are so happy with how all of our photos turned out, the day went by so fast for us so having great photos to remind us of our day months later and even years later was very important.
