Me and my wife found this place on Detroit food Review channel on YouTube. So we made the trek 39 minutes outside of Monroe. One of the best decisions we have made since we have went 4 times overall and they have jot failed us once. We share the fratalian sub and their version of the margarita pizza they have a nice pesto on there's is it traditional Neapolitan no but it's not supposed to be. We pick it up and we eat it in our car down by the raisin river. It's no big deal for us eating in our car since we do this often sharing meals and avoiding eating in and having to leave a tip. Because this place does not offer indoor eating. One review said it was dirty inside I think if we all walked back into any kitchen at many restaurants we would find the same thing. But they clean up at the end of the day not during this did not bother us a bit. We will be back sooner then later read more

Great sandwiches on freshly-baked bread. You can't really go wrong with that formula. Odd names- mine was called the 13-9 -8 or something like that. It was basically a classic italian sub with cappicola ham, salami, and mozzarella on a pepperoni baked roll, with lettuce tomato and onions, and a great combo of sauces/ condiments. They were out of the fresh mozzarella, so we could not order the Caprese sandwich, and that likely indicates the Caprese is one of those really outstanding sandwiches. I'd return if in the are, to try other selections, and their salads. There is no inside eating area, and the driveway into the place is treacherous, with a steep slope and parking for only about 4-5 cars. Might be best to come before the busy lunch hour, to get the best selection, and avoid a line. read more

The floors were filthy, making me wonder what else wasn't clean. A teenager walked in, went around the counter and got food out of a display case for himself-- obviously was a relative or something but he used unwashed , bare hands. Just made me wonder. I won't return. read more

On a recommendation, my wife and I decided to pick up lunch on the way to Sterling State Park for a picnic. We placed a telephone order right when they opened, and our sandwiches were ready within 15 minutes. The interior was uncomplicated; a cash register, a display case for desserts, a drink fridge, and a rack of chips. Of course, we couldn't resist adding a bakery-fresh dessert to our order after ogling them in the display case. My sandwich was pretty good; sourdough bread impregnated with walnuts and cranberries, with Turkey, avocado, provolone, and mustard sauce on the inside. The bread was just the right combination of crusty and chewy, but the total package didn't knock my socks off. I actually liked my wife's caprese sandwich much more. The focaccia roll was perfect; these guys really know how to do bread right. The Oreo marshmallow cookie bar was excellent, and our only regret after wolfing it was that we had to split one. All in all, this was a good lunch for a good price ($20 after tax for 2 sandwiches, chips, and a dessert). My sandwich was just a touch small for me, but still a pretty good deal. I felt compelled to write a review. I have been coming to EBC now for about 10 years. Unfortunately, I don't frequent the area as much as I used to. However, I was in town and it was lunch time so my boyfriend and I stopped to get something to eat. My boyfriend's sandwich looked really good and he said it was great. My sandwich, on the other hand, was disappointing. I got the Crazy Bird Above like I have numerous times before. They definitely changed their mustard to ballpark mustard and they might have changed their turkey as well. There was a couple of onions on it and maybe like a quarter of an avocado that wasn't ripe. Overall, the sandwich was just lacking in quality. This was my one and only place to get a good sandwich, so I'm hoping it was only a fluke. read more

This is by far the BEST deli place that has ever lived. Hands down. I have never ever had a bad thing from Erie Bread. In fact, I've gone into sandwich heaven just by sniffing the bag with my fresh pepperoni roll sub in it, trying not to speed through the mean streets of Monroe to get back to work and devour it. Tip#1: Please call ahead to order, so you don't get disappointed by the wait time. Today she told me 50-55 minutes until my sandwich would be ready, and she was spot on at 50 minutes. Glad I called ahead! These folks are nothing short of amazing how they handle the sheer volume of customers that come through their door. Tip #2: When I'm in the area for work, I like to check EBC's Facebook page around 10:25am for a list of the specials that day. Some specials come with chips, a drink or a fresh side salad. Don't miss out! Tip #3: They are closed on Sundays & Mondays, which has disappointed me in the past (because they are the best!), but when I see how hard this shop works to provide the best lunch imaginable, they well deserve the break. read more

It is places like Erie Bread Company that make me appreciate Yelp. I was out in Monroe for work during lunch time and decided to explore the local food scene. Good lord, am I happy I decided to do this today. The place is next to a car battery shop and the front of the store does not face the street. As such, it was a bit tricky to find, but well worth it. I walked in completely oblivious to the menu and chose the first thing that looked interesting, the Guiseppe Wong which was a pepperoni sub. It consisted of chopped chicken breast, provolone, lettuce, lo mein noodles, pineapple and peanut sauce. It sounds like an odd combo, but it was simply awesome. Sweet, savory, with touch of heat from the pepperoni that is BAKED INSIDE THE BREAD. Freaking genius! Before coming here, i was annoyed that I had business that would be taking me back to Monroe next Monday, but now I am looking forward to it. Also, the clerk was very cheerful and struck up a conversation with me when she found out it was my first time. I will be going back business or not. read more

Finally was able to try Erie Bread co. After several unsuccessful tries due to their business hours. I ordered a few sandwiches, one to eat for dinner when I get back to my hotel room and the other for work the next day since I'm still on a work assignment away from home. I ordered #47 the Larch to eat for dinner and Crazy Bird Above for my lunch the next day for work. I also ordered a chicken Caesar side salad and a chicken noodle w/herb soup which I also ate for dinner. The #47 the Larch sandwich was rediculously delicious. Instead of the sourdough rye, they used multigrain rye for the sandwich. The bread, very fresh since is made on the premises. The cheddar, blue cheeses gives it a unique taste. The pickle slices in the middle made the taste of the sandwich not overpowering. Very good execution and flavor of the sandwich. I just wish it had more pastrami. The soup was just as delicious with a lot going on. Lots of herbs and peppers followed by chicken of freshly cooked chicken as well as the noodles. Super delicious. Since then I have frequently visited, and still order the same sandwich and salad to this day. You can't go wrong with fresh bread and high quality ingredients! As soon as you walk in the place the smell that hits you keeps you coming back. I've never had a bad experience here. Just be prepared for longer wait times during lunch time.. call ahead! Stopped in earlier today and was automatically drawn in just from the smell! I came across this place looking for a place to eat in Monroe since I was up here for work. So happy that I stopped by! First off, automatically greeted by the girl at the register who with each phone call and customer came in, was very attentive! There were even usual customers they knew and for me, service goes a long way. Now lets get to my favorite part, food. I got the BLTA based on everyones reviews. It seemed like the popular item on the menu. Oh man, thank you yelpers. This was delicious. There was so much flavor in something that I thought was literally just a normal BLT with avocado. This was easily one of the best places I have ever been to for sandwiches! I went in several days ago when I was in the area, and I could immediately smell the bread being made. As soon as I could smell the freshness, I knew this place would be a winner. In addition, you could actually see them making the fresh bread while I was ordering. I ordered one of their pepperoni roll sandwiches, the Jason's Irregular, and it was absolutely delicious! The sandwich was a perfect size, and every ingredient blended well together from the grilled chicken and the bacon to the dressing, onions, and tomatoes. My first visit here because my friend suggested we go. Let me start by saying the bread is AMAZING!!! I didn't intend to buy much but everything was so delicious and I left with a bag full. I bought some garlic bread. I don't mean French bread with garlic butter. I mean bread with HUGE chunks of garlic baked inside. They will slice your bread for you, which is really nice. I had some toasted when I got home and fell in love. I also brought home some parm bread. Just as good as the garlic but with a nice nutty finish. I couldn't leave without having a sandwich. They all looked interesting but I settled on a Bacon, Provolone, and Avocado. I got it fully loaded and headed to the car. I didn't know what to expect. I took one bite and the kids were crawling all over me to taste it. It's actually made with a pepperoni roll. It was so good. The stinking brats took my sandwich forcing me to get another one!! I'm pretty sure I've had EBC's breads before, but today I tried a sandwich for the first time. It was pretty good! I got the Upstairs Chris which is described as "Smoked turkey, tart apple, bacon, cheddar, plus mustard sauce." It's one of their pepperoni roll subs, which are "finished with romaine hearts, Roma tomato, red onion, hot pickle, chillitch, and balsamic vinaigrette unless noted." I think the only complaint I have is that the sub had green olives and banana peppers (I'm guessing that's what chillitch is? The menu doesn't specify). The sandwich was packed with flavor and a bit messy. I'd definitely return and order this again, sans chillitch and a few other things- I think the unique (and delicious) combo of turkey, cheddar and apple are kind of lost in all the extras. read more
