I tried the garlic puffs and the meaty pizza along with their ranch and marinara. The garlic puffs were well seasoned, nice and warm, and incredibly good. The pizza was fresh, full of flavor, and not too much sauce (which is how I prefer). The ambiance was very chill and the restaurant is the perfect size for a chill night with friends. The service was all very kind, but slower than other restaurants and a little forgetful. I completely understand, especially when it was on the busier side, but we had to ask 3 times for ranch. She was still very kind and I could tell she felt bad which is really all that matters. I would definitely recommend this place for families and small friend groups! read more

I've been going to Rivers & Pizza for about 20 years and have always told people it's the best pizza around. Last night was the first time I left seriously disappointed. I ordered a Big Meaty and a pepperoni, cheese, and bacon. There's usually a deal for two specialty pizzas, and in the past they've honored it when I've ordered a pepperoni as the second one. This time they charged me separately, which cost more. When I asked about it, I was basically ignored. The girl at the register acted completely indifferent and wouldn't really engage at all. It was awkward and weird. Then I waited about 45 minutes... and both pizzas were wrong. Neither one was a Big Meaty. Both had pepperoni, bacon, and ham, and they were absolutely overloaded with cheese. It was honestly gross. We barely touched them. After 20 years of recommending this place to everyone, this was a huge letdown. read more

While they call themselves a pub, the vibe is more that of a family pizzeria. Whatever you want to call it, this is place you really need to hit if you're in Dundee. My wife and I were in town to shop at Cabela's, but even though we live about 25 miles away I'd make the run down there just to eat. We ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, ham/mushrooms/peppers and it was excellent. Crispy crust, fresh toppings, wonderful sauce and enough cheese but not too much. (Let's just say double cheese is one thing I would never order on a pizza.) Can't beat the price either. Our bill came to just over $28, pre-tip, for the pie plus a pint of beer each. Enough pizza left with us for lunch the next day. Service was fine, though the first server they sent us was too young to take our beer order. We had the Big Chicago pizza, which while flavorful (sauce was sweeter but still good), wasn't a Chicago deep dish pizza. It was a stuffed crust pizza prepared Chicago-style with sauce on top and more cheese than you'd get from Pizza Hut but not true to the breed standard. If they combined their fillings with crust from PizzaPapali's or Uno's for example, there would probably be an hour long wait to get in. My family of 7 called ahead with their order and were turned away from this restaurant when they asked for a table. The staff were extremely rude to my family and said there was no way they could be allowed to wait for a table due to "policy:" if you place an order on the phone, you're not allowed to dine-in. This policy is stated NOWHERE on their website and the person who took their order assumed it was to-go and made no effort to verify if they intended to dine-in or take-out. I have never seen a policy like this at any pizza place I've ever ordered at. This is a very small family restaurant in downtown Dundee. The ambiance is good the walls are bare though. I love their da chubbie Chicago style deep dish pizza. It's my favorite deep dish. We always start with the garlic puffs which are the perfect texture and flavor. Their pizza sauce is top tier to probably any I've had. Their service usually lacks a little but the pizza is good! My boyfriend had the Mac n cheese though and didn't like it. He also wishes they had a side salad sized Betty salad. He asked the service and was told they couldn't do that. read more

Hands down my favorite pizza place around! It's a cute little pub with a small town feel. Only downside is no delivery, you have to dine in or take out. But it will be worth your trip, and staff is always so sweet. Pizza is phenomenal- I recommend their deep dish. The big Chicago or the smaller version is Da Cubby, but it will still last you for several meals. I also can't ever go there without ordering their garlic knots... they're a must! This place has really gone down hill. From our favorite place for pizza and wings to probably our last choice. This is the second time we have had a terrible experience in the past year. Just tonight we ordered a small kitchen sink pizza and wings pick up. There was an hour wait for this. Understandable it's a Saturday night. But once we were told it was ready via the online order and my husband went into collect it they acted like our order did not exist and even questioned if my husband knew who he was picking up for. Asking him if he was sure he knew my name. Once they finally found it the cashier did not even know if we paid or not asking my husband. We did but if we were not honest people this business could have just lost money. Once home we opened up our pizza to being cut as pictures below like you would for breadsticks. If we had requested this it would have been fine but this is a pizza with a lot of toppings the way it's cut is not ideal for consumption. Also my side of ranch was placed inside the container with the chicken wings causing it to warm up and spoil before we were even home. I really hope the owners take feedback seriously because some minor improvements this place could be great again but unfortunately I am completely soured on ever ordering from rivers edge again. read more

Still love River's Edge after all of these years, but there is room for improvement. Food is not always the most consistent and it's hard to say if you're going to love it or end up sad. For example, I enjoy ordering the Club sandwich. There was a time that I ordered it and it had no bacon, another time it had no HAM?! These are basic, crucial pieces to the sandwich. It's still tasty, I just have to double-check literally every piece of the order before I leave (down to what's between the bread). They used to forget side sauces regularly, but I haven't had an issue with that in many months which I'm grateful for. read more

This little place is located about 1 mile east of Cabela's, in charming downtown Dundee. I like the atmosphere of both the town and the restaurant. I've been here three times and the bottom line is that the pizza is excellent. I'm a "sauce, crust and cheese" (and ass, BTW) man. Great toppings are cool too, but for me, pizza is all about the sauce, the crust, and the cheese. In each of these three categories River's Edge Pizza comes out on top. Sauce: It's home made, tangy and not particularly sweet. There's plenty of it, too. Because it tastes great, this bold sauce doesn't have to hide under the cheese or the toppings. Hell baby, this is MANLY pizza sauce! When this sauce walks its big ass into a room, you KNOW it has a-rrived! Crust: Hand tossed, soft, foldable and a little fluffy. Cooked perfectly around the edges on three occasions. The crust is the Yin to the sauce's Yang. BTW, they also have Chicago style pies, that I have NOT yet tried, yet. Cheese: Flavorful and plentiful. There's quite a bit of cheese, too; maybe too much, as the pizza is a bit greasy. Personally, I like it better that way, but I can see where someone might complain. We've gone there on a Friday and Saturday evening. Both times, the place was packed. But, we were seated promptly, the pies came out quickly, and the waitresses were very friendly. I LOVE River's Edge. I've been going here for years for my pizza. Grew up in the area and moved away but any time I'm back I'm getting there pizza. The crust is crispy, perfectly chewy, and always cooked to perfection. They have a good sauce that's not too sweet or spicy. Toppings are all good quality. The Chicago deep dish is great too it's just not my favorite type of pizza. I like their onion rings, fried pickles, cheese bread. The rest of the menu is bar food which is good but I recommend to ALWAYS get their pizza, it's just too damn good. read more

For years I ate here, skipping the pizza and going for the perch dinner. It had been a while and when I saw tonight that perch was no longer on the menu, I decided it was time to give the Chicago style pizza a go. It comes with four ingredients, so we chose pepperoni, mushroom, green olive, and green pepper. Those worked well with the style. The sauce had a very fresh flavor, almost with a tang of fresh pepper like a homemade salsa. The crust was standard pizza dough, different than the corn meal I'm used to in the Chicago style I used to get from Uno, but it worked OK. It's worth a try if you are in the area. read more

Found this place on Yelp with a 4.5/5 star rating, which was accurate. We started with naked pretzel bites and beer cheese which were wonderful; though I scraped off most of the salt (personal choice) My sister had a nice side salad and the mac n cheese with pulled pork, which was the perfect portion size as it was filling. Came out bubbling hot with melted cheese over top of dish, wonderful cheese flavor and pulled pork had excellent flavor. I had the Reuben on marble rye and fries which did not disappoint. However, the fries were seasoned (salt & pepper?) which I'd ask for a lighter sprinkling of next time. They have homemade chips "chippers" as well. Decor is simple pub style: brick walls, wooden booths and tables but clean. I'd rather have them focus on their food service because it shows. Our server was prompt, pleasant and courteous. read more
