It's a nice little restaurant with baseball-themed decorations. The menu is what you would expect--hot dogs with a wide variety of toppings, a front and back of types of dogs. I had a Chicago dog and an A-1 dog (cheese, A-1 sauce, tomatoes, and onions). Both were very good and reasonably priced. They have an additional menu with some other sandwiches and items. This is one of our kids' favorite places!! They have an enormous number of unique choices and allow you to customize, so the options are endless!! My faves are the D to the T, Reuben dog, and German dog. You order at the register, grab a seat, and they bring your food to you. There aren't a ton of tables, but we've never had an issue getting a seat. We love the baseball theme. read more

We took a Southern Railroad ride from Clinton to Tecumseh. We wanted to look around the town, so after a little debating about where to go, we ended up here. They have an interesting selection of hot dogs, with all kinds of unusual toppings. Okay, so I've been to the Dog House approx. 10 times now, with and without my family en tow. Each time, I have to drive 45 minutes from Toledo, Ohio, just to savor these hot dogs....but man...it's worth it. So here's the low-down. The Dog House offers three varieties of hot dogs for each of their selections, each with options of three-meat options like pork,turkey or all-beef all the way to 1/2 pound black angus beef dogs. Other than that, the hot dogs used at this place are your typical, run-of-the-mill, ballpark type franks you can get in any grocery. One look at the kitchen and you'll quickly surmise that this place isn't much more complex than a typical hot dog hut at any Major League Ballpark. HOWEVER, the difference here are the options available. From Junkyard dogs to raspberry-nestled Monte Cristo Dogs, hunkering Mac & Cheese Dogs to the voracious PITBULL dog, classic Chicago Dogs with Neon Green Relish to Big Kaunas slathered in pineapple, cream cheese, bacon, and BBQ sauce. I even had an Elvis Dog here with peanut butter and bacon the last time I went. This place has rocking options and they have an extensive list of choices. It's merely fun to just go in and read them. ONE WARNING: (and this is a good warning). YOU CANNOT LEAVE TECUMSEH WITHOUT EATING the Dog House's CHEESY Potatoes. Forget everything else. Get the Cheesy. On several occasions, I have told the waitresses that I want to buy this restaurant and I have never really joked about it. I think this place would fit sooooo much better in a bigger city (no offense to Tecumseh), and I would love to take it there. If you are nearby, you have to stop and grab a few dogs. The service was fast and friendly and the hot dogs were delicious. I recently had a craving for a hot dog and after having a full breakfast at City Limits Diner near by, I walked over to The Dog House and ordered an all beef hot dog topped with coney sauce and mac and cheese. It was delicious. The hot dog was delicious and of high quality. It was so good, I made a special trip before leaving town to have the Frito Pie dog. If you're in the surrounding area of Tecumseh and get a craving for a good dog, come to this place. You won't be disappointed. read more

I really like this place and all the varities of hot dogs that they serve here. I always got my hot dog at Home Depot or Lowe's with saurkraut, onions and relish never knowing until going here that it called a Chicago dog. Just without those crazy hot sport peppers. My personal favorite is the Gutter dog with macaroni and cheese and bacon. I've been here a few times now and it's very meh. Most every time I've been there, the service has been pretty bad. Usually a lot of young kids walking around and talking amongst themselves in front of you rather than trying to help you. I have felt pretty unwelcome at least half the times I've come in. Last time I was there, I ordered a wrap and got some sort of sub instead. I didn't actually even want to say anything because I was fine with a sub too but when my boyfriend mentioned something to the server, she didn't even seem to care, nor offered to do anything about it. The food has always been just okay. I've tried a little of everything on the menu and it's always fairly good but nothing to brag about. I like the sandwiches more than the hot dogs actually. I've never really been a fan of any of the hot dogs I've tried, even though that's what they're known for. Overall, I wouldn't really recommend it. My niece and nephews wanted hot dogs. Because I can be a lazy aunt, I drove by this place many times and figured, "The Dog House?" How could I go wrong you say? I really couldn't in this place. Except if I brought the kids in and asked them what they want. Dumbest move of my life (veteran aunt mistake). They have so many varieties and even a Dessert Dog (which is a Long John from Lev's bakery stuffed with ice cream and whipped cream), the kids couldn't decide. We walked out with 3 kid specials and were happy. All dogs are noted as 100% beef or meat. This place is small. Super small, more so on Saturdays. They need a better and bigger ordering system and pay system because it causes a bottleneck, especially if you are coming through the back door. Note: they also have other things besides dogs, so don't fret if you aren't a hot dog fan. They have panini's, salads, nachos, quesadillas, and even Frito Pie. Also? Beer and wine. They have sandwiches, paninis and hot dogs. There is not a lot of ways to mess up a hot dog. However the 5 stars are for the plentiful hot dog toppings such as nacho cheese bacon or macaroni and cheese. They have 3 different dogs to choose from and even have pretzel buns which are delicious. Their desserts are also amazing gourmet cupcakes and brownies. The prices are crazy cheap. Always had good service. read more

I was in Tecumseh today and spotted the Dog House Awning first then the 99 cent Coney Dog sign....How could I not stop, right? So the place was clean on first impression. A. O. K. It had beer signs so I guess it serves alcohol. That could be a bonus, just not today for me. I was intrigued by the menu of different hot dogs available. They had the classic " Chicago" dog, some others that looked good too. I will preface this for those that have not read my other reviews...I LOVE CONEY DOGS! Now I have to take that back and say I love "GOOD" coney dogs. I ordered two coneys with heavy chili, a cheezy potato dog w/bacon bits and a coke. I really wanted to try the cheezy potato dog. It was luke warm at best, but had a nice flavor. I was expecting a better quality hot dog itself, at least something with a little natural casing snap to it. Not here. Took one bite of one of the coneys and it was not even luke warm. I took a bite of the other and it was not even luke warm. So I looked around for the waitress...not in view. I finished the chezzy potato dog then went up to the counter to ask if they could just heat the two coneys up a little bit. They did. (apparently), but I could not tell any difference. I ate the rest of one and pretty much tore the other apart and ate the hot dog meat. This is not like me at all. The were just not that good at al. There was no heavy chili as requested however, I'm glad they neglected that because it was awful. It had a sweet flavor of almost ketchup like and should be no where near a true Coney Dog. So really not impressed. You would think if they name the place "Dog House", they should be able to serve a fine hot dog, oh well. Nice concept - poor execution. read more

Love the Dog House. We've lived in 12 cities and traveled to 25 countries and this is among the top 3 hot dog restaurants we've found anywhere, with Chicago and Medina, OH being the other 2. We dine here about 3 times per month. The 99 cent coneys on Wednesday are an incredible bargain, and the (premium) all beef 1/4 pound dogs are a meal. We've had 3 generations of our family eat here, and all enjoy it immensely. As to the sandwiches, we have never ordered one. Why do you go to a Dog House for anything other than Dogs? read more

I have visited this restaurant three times now. Every time I visit I leave VERY disappointed. The food is gross. If you go at dinner time chances are they will be out of a lot of menu items. The service is horrible. Why do you not have fries? I feel I have given this place enough tries and I will not return. Ever again. I would never recommend for anyone to eat here.
