I am not happy with Eriehome's work on my basement. They removed 18 inches of my wall and told me I had to get another contracter to replace drywall. Also they covered up my sink drain and I can't used my washer because of it. I've seen pictures of before and after work and their explanation of an improved look and my basement is worse than before, but they want me to pay for poor work done. read more

My mom called Erie Home after seeing an online pop-up ad. Well, the guys showed up and stayed 4 hours when we were expecting just a quick visit and estimate. We felt pressured to sign a contract. This occurred on 1/14/2025. We cancelled on 1/15/2025 via 1) calling their customer service number to inform them of our cancellation, 2) most importantly, we sent the cancellation notice signed and dated via USPS certified mail to their address with return receipt, 3) we also FedEx overnight sent the cancellation letter to their address, 4) we faxed the letter to the fax number on the BBB website associated with Erie. Since that time, the tape that is holding the plastic panels to our walls has fallen off, we've called customer service 8 TIMES. No one will fix it or even call us back. Looks awful. Let me start by saying that its very possible that I have a brand new roof that will last the rest of my lifetime. Unfortunately, the experience that I have had with Erie Home has not provided me with the security that I should feel in spending $45,000 for a new roof, quite the contrary. It is that experience that is the basis of my review. I first met with George McCray and Eddie Johnson for an appointment that I requested because I knew that I needed a new roof. My roof, twelve years after being replaced by Relief Roofing and their subcontractors after a tornado, has failed multiple times with subsequent attempts to patch making my roof look like amateurs had put it on. With all of the attributes that George and Eddie spewed, I had two requests for them before proceeding. First, I asked if they provided some type of protection around the house to collect all pulled nails and debris as it was pulled from my roof and second, that they not use subcontractors for the job. With request one, they stated that this would not be a problem. Their teams are equiped with an apron or skirting to catch materials as it comes off the roof. As for not using contractors, they said that no one in the industry does this without subcontractors, but what they could assure to me is that all of the roofers that came to my house would be certified by Erie, they would have experience with their product and would all be wearing Erie attire at my home. Unfortunately neither was true. I asked the job foreman just after they started where this apron was and he said that his crew does not do that. I immediately sent a message to George and Eddie asking about this and have never gotten any response. I can say now, after the job has been completed and I have taken the time to go around my home. I have picked up over 200 nails that were left around my property. I found shingles in my bushes and also had to walk my neighborhood to pick up debris and wrapping that had blown around while my roof was being completed. As for the crew, it was apparent that the crew leader knew what he was doing, but not sure about the rest. As my roof was being done, I was working on another project outside and heard people being yelled at for mistakes throughout the entire time they were there. I asked one about being Erie certified and he had no clue what I was talking about. While I believe in that one crew leader, I'm skeptical that he could catch all of the things that may have been done incorrectly. George and Eddie also told me that I would have an installation manager that would oversee the job and be onsite just to aide in my peace of mind. That person never showed up. I filed a complaint with the BBB and so then the issue was escalated to sales manager Morgan Seymour. My conclusion from corresponding with him is that dishonesty is part of his culture for the organization. He offered to have someone come and clean up the debris, but I had already done that. They did give me two coffee cups for my purchase, which I used to hold all of the nails that I picked up. My ask was to decrease the portion of my price that would be used for commission to the sales reps because I did not want my money going for that purpose since their lies secured their sale, but of course that didn't go anywhere. I do have a warranty, but with all of the lies that I have received to now, I can't believe that warranty is worth anything more than the cost of the paper its printed on should my roof start to fail read more

What we got was 500 sq ft of rolled roof. On top of that 9 days after replacing the roof, the 1 leak we had was still there they didn't fix anything. We called them back they put a patch over the leak and said to keep an eye on it. It rained in my house for the next 12 hours. We called them back a third time and they replaced some of my new metal roof with more rolled roofing material. The leak is still there and they said it's my window is the problem and to hire a general contractor. We did and he looked at the window and said to call the roofing company back cause it's definitely not the window. We will not be calling them back and that 50 year warranty is trash. I was accepted at one company and denied at four others for financing which really screwed up my credit. Then three weeks later I still had not heard for a project date so I called them and they said oh I'm so sorry. We cannot do your roof. No reason given and I was told that a manager would call me that afternoon. Well surprise no phone call so I called back today. Oh they've got up to 48 hours to call you and it's Friday so maybe they'll call you by Monday. So as of this date, I still have no excuse why they went through all this Just to tell me that they're not going to do my roof after securing financing. Do not have anything to do with this company. To make a long story shorter. We had a roof done April of 2024, started getting water damage. They said they gave us a quality roof. Spent more money try to find out what the problem was. Kept getting told it must be from the roof. After A LOT of back an forth they finally agreed to re do the problem area to make sure. Thought the problem was fixed so we went to try and fix the interior damage of our home. We still have wet wood when it rains in the problem area and what appears to be mold. They told us we did not need any new decking and after seeing it from the inter of the home that there is actually holes and gaps. I would give my experience negative stars if it was an option. The salesman told me that the shingles and underlayment would have the Erie Construction name on it, both did not. Was told I could not buy any of the materials they use anywhere else. The was a lie, I could call my local roofing supply and get them all. The materials where not up to the quality that were sold. I brought this up to the sales manager after looking only at the shingles. Wanted to cancel it then but money was removed from the bill. Was told that Erie Construction does not use sub-contractors, the only feet that would touch my roof would be Erie Construction employees, that was a lie. I had to use a translator to talk to them, not a big deal. Told them not to touch any of the materials or go on my roof. They proceed to open the pallets of material and go on my roof. Sales team- High pressure sales tactics. Takes advantage of any roofing issues you might have to sell you a new roof. More often than not they over exaggerate anything they find when doing the initial inspection and quickly provide a solution that involves their roofing system. Specifically in my area its ice damning due to poor ventilation, mold resulting from moisture and hail damage even if its the size of a pea. Contract- They provide the most vague of contracts, in many instances they leave out information such as material list, cost breakdown, accurate start and completion dates. Most importantly they do not provide a copy of the warranty until you sign off on completion of the install, which is troublesome considering most customers don't know that if the install is not satisfactory and an issue arises the warranty does not cover issues resulting from poor installation which means the company can deny or drag their feet with repairs or correcting any concerns you have. Financing- Erie Construction is more than happy to provide assistance with financing your rough, and although this is part of the sales team tactics its worth separating since financing through the company Erie Construction processes your application with does not necessarily mean you have to use Erie Construction for your roofing needs once approved. It is worth mentioning that Erie Construction will reduce the overall price of their roofing system if the finance company doesn't approve you for the original quoted price. An example would be a 2200sqft quoted at $36k reduced from $43k by sales team and further reduced to $30k once the finance company completed the application approval. That's a $13k reduction on the price which is a great indication that the sales team of Erie Construction greatly marks up the price of their roofing system. Final point on the financing is that Erie Construction will pressure a customer to sign off on their Installation Certificate which is the only way that the finance company will release funds to Erie Construction. This is your last bargaining chip if the installation is not satisfactory. Installation- Erie Construction provides a installation crew that claims to be familiar and experienced with installing their roofing systems. In any event this should be scrutinized by the customer, from ensuring work permits are obtained to ensuring the crew has all material on-site before beginning. Regarding work permits, ask for the date and time your local inspectors from your city, village, etc. are scheduled and be present. It is worth stating that Erie Construction will give you a number of reasons the city inspectors did not provide an inspection of your roof at however many stages of the install listed on the work permit. Since not all customers are familiar with roofing codes nor do they have a desire to claim up on their own roof it is vital that your city inspectors perform the needed inspections at every stage. Customer Service/Management- This along with every other part of this review are critical, however the others parts with due diligence can ensure your secure a full functional roof at a reasonable price. When and if you have to deal with customer service or management note every conversation, save every email and text correspondence. Just like the sales team they operate with high pressure tactics and often tell the customer verbally what the customer wants to hear but doesn't deliver as agreed verbally. If you get to the point where the management stops trying to smooth things over that probably means you refused to sign off on the Installation Certificate and are expecting Erie Construction to simply provide the service and product you financed. It is even more important at this point to document document document. The management team will most likely use every method to get you to sign off on the Installation Certificate from stating they can't do warranty related service until its signed, withholding documents which all consumers have a right to such as the warranty information, material list/invoice, an amended contract with any correction and additions they decided would smooth things over as a sign of GOOD FAITH/WILL GESTURE. This is of course if your fortunate to have them respond to your requests to have the job completed corrected. With that said it is always best to be as through from the beginning and require any company to provide documentation to your satisfaction prior to moving forward with any project. I did not want the first part of my review to be overly negative and more of a cuationary overview when dealing specifically with Erie Construction. To be more specific my situation is still ongoing for the better part of a month. Red flags early in the process to even today when their management stated that they would only provide a material list or an amended contract but not both since I did not authorize payment. Erie Metal Roofs visited me on 1/24, and unfortunately I relented to their high-pressure sales tactics and signed a contract for a new metal roof and made a down payment using my credit card. After researching the company's reviews and pricing from other companies, I decided to cancel the contract the next business day, as the contract allowed me to do. Per the contract, the down payment would be returned to me within 10 business days. After the ten business days had passed since my cancellation, I contacted them multiple times without getting any information regarding when my money would be refunded. After more than a month had passed, I contacted the credit card company and disputed the charge. The CC company reached out to Erie, and they finally refunded my down payment this week, more than 1.5 months after I cancelled the contract. read more

Be very careful with Erie, Understand exactly what they are selling and do your homework on the quality of what they sell you. Six years ago they sold my elderly and in the case of my father, dying parents a new roof it was debatable they even needed. They charged almost double the going price for Substandard Tamko 30 year shingles. They did not remove the old shingles which almost no one does in part due to shorter life for the new ones. Now 6 years in the roof is failing already and while still under Warranty the warranty is only worth $800. They charged $16,000 for a 25 square roof, and did a low quality job. Now I have a quote for top of the line Owens Corning shingles for $8500. They say they have a superior product and charge a premium. On Saturday, January 25, 2014, I received a solicitation call from this business. I answered the telephone "Hello", and she immediately began talking, assuming that I was the party she wanted to talk to. The party she was calling, however, is now deceased, and when I attempted to inform her of this fact, she just said "uh-huh". The call was then dropped somehow or another; she called back and apologized for the call dropping and then launched back into a solicitation for business. I attempted to call back and got another agent in the call queue, who gave me a toll-free number to call to lodge a complaint. The number provided, however, did not ring but instead went to a special-information-tone (SIT) message indicating that the number does not accept telephone calls. Rude! Based on this one sole interaction, I wouldn't even CONSIDER doing business with this company. They are rude, unprofessional, and at a bare minimum were not even kind about the loss in the family; instead of offering condolences or even a simple "I am sorry for your loss," she was way more interested in talking about the windows on the house and attempting to make a bid for them. If that's how they handle things before you use them for business, I'd hate to think what they do after. read more

I signed with this company for a bathroom remodel and was told it would take one day (which I knew was too good to be true) and would have a new bathroom by Christmas. After being lied to by the subcontractor, and after 3 weeks I contacted Erie and was told they thought the job was done (even though I still had the paperwork which I had signed due to pressure from the subcontractor). They finally came down and finished the job - 4 weeks after it was started. They're not giving me an additional discount because I signed the completion papers before I contacted them that the job wasn't done. The woman I was speaking to then said ok I will just cancel your appointment. I said no I still want an estimate. She then replied that it was company policy that my wife had to be there.
