PSA: Women, don't waste your time. Came in excited to try something new. Bar was empty -- perfect. Then the "regulars" showed up: drunk old men who thought harassing two women was entertainment. Their material? Misogynistic one-liners straight out of the 1970s. The best part? The bartender didn't step in, didn't shut it down -- just sat back and laughed like it was the comedy show of the year. Real classy. If management cares at all about creating a safe, welcoming environment, they should start by training their staff to protect all customers, not just pander to townie regulars. I've heard so much about this place but haven't had time or occasion to visit. I was invited to a birthday part last night. We had pizza, poutine, pickle chips and whiskey BBQ burnt ends with vinegar fries. The food wasn't fantastic but also not horrible. I wasn't expecting 5 star dining. It was pretty typical pub fare to be honest. Our waitress was really nice and we were a big group (10-12 of us depending on the time). She had a lot to deal with and did it with finesse. The band Diamond Special was awesome. They played various genres of music from a variety of time frames. I danced for about 5 hours, straight. Staff at the door were professional and paid attention. I think expectations going in, and the people your with matter when we talk about evenings out. I had a great time. read more

I've been wanting to try this place and had the opportunity on a Sunday for a friend's birthday. Disappointed, to say the least. The place was packed as they have Sunday brunch, and a "band", aka 2 guys playing guitars and singing, which honestly was the best part of this visit. Service was extremely slow, but I'll chalk that up to it being super busy. We actually arrived after brunch ended and ordered off the regular menu. Typical bar food of burgers, sandwiches, chicken fingers, salads, etc. we ordered 3 different burgers and an app of fried pickles. We ordered around 12:30-12:45 and had to ask our waitress when food would be out at 1:40 as we had to leave at 2. Amazingly, when we asked, it immediately came out. I had the bruisin' burger that was to be blackened with blue cheese sauce, hubby got Mushroom Swiss burger with added fried onions, and my daughter just had plain burger with just pickles and ketchup. Burgers come with shoestring fries or you can "upgrade" to salad or vinegar dusted fries for $2. While the salad was worth the upcharge, the dusted fries, which were thicker, had barely any flavor and still required lots of ketchup. Definitely not worth the $2! I would have needed salt, but there was none on the table and I figured I wouldn't bug our waitress for any. Speaking of ketchup, they give you a very small paper cup of it on the side. A bottle on the table would have been preferable. Now the burgers - we all asked for medium, and all were bright red. My blackened burger had no flavor and then we realized my burger had been put on my daughter's bun. She was complaining about the taste and we realized the mistake. The blue cheese sauce was a few crumbles of blue cheese. There were no fried onions on my husband's burger. Only good thing was fresh onions, lettuce and tomatoes on the burgers. Oh, and those fried pickles? Didn't show up until we were halfway through our meal, because another waitress grabbed them for her table and our waitress forgot. Our waitress comped the pickles when we asked. I would be skittish to try them again, especially on a busy day/evening. Drinks looked good if you didn't need to eat, and band was good. Came here on a Saturday night at 8pm with a live band playing. Highly recommend making a reservation, as it does get packed quickly. They gave me the option of a low or high table. I asked for a low one. They did warn me that the low tables are closer to the front where the speakers are. We were placed right in front of all the high tables and on the dance floor. We were literally right in front of the stage with a speaker above us. Just be prepared as it is always blasting it loud here and hard to talk to one another in general without screaming during late nights. All the food we got was delicious and loaded right up. Awesome portation sizes. I do find their menu to be on the higher side (10inch pizza for $20). I love the seasonal drink variety they offer for festive switch ups, too. They even have a mocktail section. Our server was great and stayed on top of everything with a smile. read more

The food is terrible & overpriced, but the drinks are at least stiff. On a Saturday, a few ladies & I sat at a table from the late afternoon until we left at night. Up until the music started, we had prompt A+ service, afterwards was an entirely different story, as expected when I started seeing the venue getting filled up like a can of sardines. Once that good service stopped & I had to start getting up to get drinks at the bar, it took a nosedive. The female bartenders were pretty snooty, felt more like I was bothering them just to place a drink order, rather than being treated like a paying customer. Really awkward. Highly suggest getting a table ASAP if you want this to be a pleasurable experience, otherwise you're going to be cramped against a wall if you're lucky. We ordered butter for waffles (never got it), sauces, etc. Chicken and waffles were a miss. Bloody bar was lacking. No waters for the table. Spent her time at the bar talking to the bartender. My 11 year old daughter and I stopped in for a weekday lunch. It was both of our first times being here. *Note- this is a 21+ establishment after 4pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The atmosphere was relaxed, spacious and had a nice country vibe, music included. There was only one other table of guests while we were there so the bartender/waitress was able to stay right on top of things. She was pleasant and able to answer my questions about when there might be bands (pretty much every night at 7pm) and line dancing again. Unfortunately, line dancing is off for a bit due to COVID. As for the food and drink, I ordered an adult blueberry lemonade that was just perfect. I liked that the menu had a nice balance of "ordinary" pub food and some more adventurous plates. My daughter got the appetizer of chicken tenders and fries. This was more than enough as a meal for her. I got the BBQ Brisket pizza. I enjoyed the combination of the flavors and would get it again. I'm excited to come back again, maybe for an adult night out. It's so nice to have an option to listen to live music and dance without having to drive into Portland. read more

I'm really not the country bar type, but looking to go out for a quick bite and drinks with some coworkers, we decided that we would go to Erik's Church. First off, don't be deceived by the looks of it on the outside, because the space is actually expansive. The owners have done a nice job of maximizing the space to it's fullest potential with a variety go high top seating, a large bar and stage, and plenty of space for dancing as the night progresses. The country aesthetic is clearly exuded throughout the venue with it's wooden walls and flooring. One of the things that I appreciate about Erik's church is that they try to feature and highlight local talent. It's often hard to find venues to play at, especially in rural Maine, and Erik's Church provides some local musicians and artists the ability to showcase what they can do. In the late afternoon, there is always someone playing and/or singing on stage, which adds to Erik's Chuch's charm. During the night time hours, they try to feature fuller bands which gives people the opportunity to utilize the dance floor of the venue. Erik's Church also has a full menu of food to choose from. The menu consists of a great deal of pub-like food like wings, burgers, fries, etc. On the night I went, my coworkers and I decided to share a hummus platter and I ordered the veggie burger. Given that the hummus platter was $14, we were fully expecting it to be a full platter, however, what we got didn't match the price point. There were about 5 carrot sticks, 5 cucumber sticks, 8 pepper sticks, and 3 halved mushrooms with a small portion of hummus. My veggie burger tasted fine, but it was cold and the fries that it was served with was also cold. My coworkers experienced the same thing with their meals. Overall, I think Erik's Church could be a great addition to the Windham bar/pub scene, however, I think they have some things to fix if they want to continue to be successful especially in the food industry. read more

Love this place. Attended a Sunday brunch on June 4, 2023. Called ahead for reservations that were suggested but no required. Despite being a day at the beginning of tourist season, there were quite a few empty tables and bar seats. Menu for Sunday brunch is limited but more than adequate as they are only open until 2pm on Sundays. We enjoyed 3 hours of great sounding live music from a couple of professional musicians. I am not sure how anyone could give this wonderfully designed venue such a low rating, as it was more than I ever expected. My girlfriend and I travel to mostly warmer areas with sandy shore and always enjoy afternoon drinks and live music near the ocean so we were pleasantly surprised when we searched and found such a unique venue in Maine. Just went for lunch with my nephew and was impressed. Granted it was quiet because of the time but the food was very good , a meatloaf sandwich and a BLT and our waitress was very nice and service was quick. I had the most unpleasant experience here due to one person and one person alone. She is the reason i will NEVER be back on November 13 a blonde girl who I think name is was Kat was working. I then proceeded to watch her take a video of a different customer from inside the kitchen, because it seemed as if the customer had an issue with their order, and the blonde worker Kat was videoing her and laughing at her. I've never seen such unprofessionalism in my entire life at a bar here in Maine. I will never spend a single cent here ever again after watching an employee blatantly laugh and record a customer, simply because their food was wrong and the customer seemed to be understanding about it! So first time in Eric's church and wasn't a good experience. Walked in and waited to be seated as I watched the hostess talking at the bar. Not to long but long enough that I almost left. Time to order drinks. Didn't have the beers my wife and I ordered and didn't have the root beer that my kid ordered. Second choice yes. So my $13 burger doesn't come with fries. Fries cost extra they don't come the meals. Fries were $5 or $6 more. So food comes out my burger was still mooing and that's fine for me but my wife and I split meals and she would not eat it. Sorry for a long one! This visit was in June, 2020 during Covid-19. We heard this was a great place and they had outdoor tables. Upon arriving, we were shocked that whoever was acting as host, was not wearing a mask (it was around her neck). No one was inside we noticed, but the outside had a band and there was one open table. Tables were appropriately spaced apart when we sat down at a dirty table and waited for service. And, waited. And, waited... The band was decent and we enjoyed visiting with our friends, so it was okay, but we were hot from the sun and wanting at least a cold beer (or to be acknowledged). I did go inside to grab some napkins and cleaned the table the best I could (so much for sanitizing)! The waitress finally showed up (she was wearing a mask), grumbling that they were short staffed, but offered no apology for the wait. Ok, at least we now get beers! Well.... we waited a looooong time for those beers. In the meantime, more patrons arrived and were standing outside listening to the music. No masks, despite no drinks in their hands and were way too close to people eating at a table. Then, more non-mask wearing employees came out to move some inside tables to seat those waiting people. They squeezed in two small tables together for 6ppl ideally (with 8 people) right between us and an appropriately placed table with people eating- so much for social distancing! THE POSITIVES- the band was pretty good. The service got better/quicker (maybe more people came in to work). ‍ The food was excellent! Loved the fries and pizza! We did see our waitress spray down and wipe tables between patrons. On my next trip, I will probably get take out, or try to visit when there is not a band and maybe not so busy. For a little place kind of hidden away in Windham, I would say it's not bad. It's not an inexpensive place to visit by any means. I had the avacado Luna sandwich and salt and vinegar fries. The food was good, sandwich was fresh and the fries very delicious but for $13 a sandwich and $6 for fries it won't be a place I go to weekly that's for sure. The live music at lunch time as great. I will say I hate bar seats, they are not inviting for a long stay by any means, and unfortunately the majority of their seating is bar style which I personally really dislike. It looks nice but if you want people to hang out, drink and eat for a while I'd suggest getting some more comfortable seating. I am giving four stars which is very generous because our serve was less than great but the girl was training someone new so I am going to assume that is why it was lacking. We we're waiting a whole for well...everything. I had to get up and track someone down to get our check. We will go back for sure. read more

Go for the music NOT the food. Ordered 2 items on menu. Waitress came back to tell me that one of the specials were not available anymore. Ordered wings-extra crispy. They were served drenched with some sauce that they claimed to be southern gold. They were so gross. Thank goodness I did order extra crispy, because they wouldn't have been cooked properly if so.
