We came to the store trying to purchase a $3500 cargo bike but the person working there, was extremely rude and short with us. He is overweight, didn't catch his name and making remarks at my kids. My son wanted a protein bar from their sale section. I said "no" so he just set it down, not put it back where he got it from. This employee comes screaming at us, about the bar being displaced back. Then, we wanted to look at some cargo bike options but he was short and rude with my husband to his questions. This employee was extremely incompetent. Terrible customer service. I purchased an expensive bike for my 10-year-old last year. It was assembled incorrectly and the brakes do not work. We're five weeks in and still can't get an ETA on when it might be done. We're halfway through the summer. This is a bike that will be good for one to two seasons at most. I got new tires and tubes at this location. I was tempted to buy one of their electric bicycles Aventon: Excellent performance and finished product. However I already have an electric bicycle one. I have any bicycles. I do business with this location at least 2-3 times a year. Even though the staff are either very young or in their 20s and 30s, they are very professional and always polite. Very responsive theme and always predictable service. Very consistent customer care. It's always a pleasure for me to come to this location for business. read more

Came in on a Friday night with my husband looking to purchase an e-bike. It started off not so great. The sales person was quick to judge, asking are you just looking? It's as if he were sizing us up on where we are at in the purchasing journey. We came there with the expectation that the sales person would help educate us about the options based on our goals for the bike. Instead, he pointed to one bike (yes, literally one) and said it's the most popular and that's the bike I should get. We asked if we can test drive it. Things got worse from there when he disappeared for awhile, then another co-worker (didn't seem like a manager) came to the back of the store and told us we won't be able to test ride the bike this evening. When I asked why, his response was that you "can't bike when drunk". What?! Then went further to say you can get a DUI when riding the influence. Wow, how incredibly insulting. We left and told them we have money to spend and are going to go somewhere else where we can get more competent help. We left this location, went to St. Louis Park location and bought an Aventon 500. That location was much more organized, had a manager working there, many helpful workers and the sales person actually met our expectation of educating us and helping us find an e-bike that best meets our needs. I am surprised to be writing this review. Normally, I like Erik's, but this experience was particularly bad. Recently I was out on a ride and I noticed my bike was not shifting correctly. While my bike is not new it is only about 6 years old. After my ride I brought my bike to Erik's Minnetonka location. The mechanic was friendly and greeted me promptly. He asked me to describe the problem I was having. I told him that the bike wasn't shifting correctly, and I tried to describe in detail what was happening. After checking out the bike, the mechanic said that I likely have a bad shifter and that it would need to be replaced. The problem was that Shimano no longer makes the exact shifter my bikes needs and that I would have to downgrade to a shifter that would be a mismatch to the other shifter on the bike. Another option was to simply clean the shifter to see if that fixed the problem. He did indicate that that procedure was not likely to work but would only cost $15. I decided to give that a try. It didn't work. It was suggested that I replace the shifter and the new part would cost $150 and would be $89 to install. I didn't really care for that option so I decided to pick up the bike and just pay the $15. After picking up the bike I took it to another bike shop in the area that also sells Sepcialized bikes. The mechanic there quickly determined that I had a bad cable. After about 15 minutes and $17 I had a bike in perfect working order. I am not suggesting that the people at Erik's intentionally tried to deceive me, but I do find it a little difficult to believe that they actually performed the cleaning they charged me for. After all, how is it possible that they could do that cleaning and not notice the bad cable when it seems like it was pretty obvious to the other mechanic. I think I will be avoiding Erik's in the future. read more

We were very disappointed in ERIK'S for misleading us about a price for a bike, when they wouldn't honor the posted price for a bike we liked. There were two bikes, in different colors. One was marked $150 less than the color we wanted. The manager told us "he hadn't had a chance to mark down" the higher priced one but we could get either bike for the lower sales price. We had to get somewhere else first (we were there to drop off our son who was picking up a bike) but said we would almost certainly come back later today to buy the bike. When I returned, the manager (Mike) had raised the bike we wanted to the higher price, saying the lower price was a "mistake.". But he refused to honor the price he confirmed earlier the same day. I also felt that we were treated less kindly as seniors who are probably not their normal demographic. Based on the price misrepresentation and disrespectful service, we won't ever return to ERIK'S. read more

I love this bike shop. My family shops almost exclusively here. Erik's is a huge supplier of Specialized bikes, so if you're looking for one, here is the place to get it. They stock all kinds of bikes, but mostly mountain bikes and road bikes. As well as bikes they also have a huge amount of accessories. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, and if you come often, they will remember you. This shop also does repairs on bikes, which don't take long at all. They also stock skateboards, trick scooters, and longboards, all high quality. In the winter they have a large selection of skis, snowboards and winter gear. I don't usually shop here for ski gear, though. read more

I'm a former Penn Cycle customer who has gradually switched to (and just spent $3,000 on a new bike and accessories at) Erik's. I used to be a Trek guy - which is why I went to Penn Cycle in the first place. But the people at Erik's are so much friendlier and more helpful, I even switched my bike brand allegiances and bought a Specialized Roubaix Elite at Erik's. In my numerous experiences with both stores, I find the workers at Penn Cycle to be disengaged and mostly disinterested in my business while the Erik's workers are very helpful and happy to see me. Erik's staff are always excellent, and this location was no different. I wasn't quite ready to buy, but had LOADS of questions for them about bike fitting and styles. Even with all my questions, the staff were very patient and helpful. They even gave me a thorough and precise measurement to find my EXACT bike size. When they put me on a bike, it fit like a glove. And I liked that they didn't push me towards their more expensive models; like any great LBS, they just wanted to put me on a bike I'd love. I'd feel very confident I'd be getting the right bike for me from this Erik's location. read more

I purchased a bike online from Erik's, it was delivered and then I needed help putting it together. Lauren was awesome for setting it up, quickly and with no charge. I was prepared to pay for the assembly, but she didn't charge me. The guy who helped me out (sorry I didn't get his name) with the bike rack for my car was super friendly and helpful too. I was super impressed with all of their customer service. The whole experience was extremely positive and I am really glad I went here. read more
