What a disappointment. Our family group of 8 Took Mom and Dad to dinner for their 58th anniversary dinner. Service was slow and we had to find our server when needing something, and almost every one of our dinner orders was screwed up. To add to our monetary insult, they charged us 20% (unearned) mandatory gratuity for what they called a large group. Also, they charged us a 3.5% payed credit card fee, illegally. My wife's shrimp was cold, adult beverages were expensive and weak and mostly ice. Sadly this restaurant which we used love has progressively gon downhill. i will never return to this place again i went there and i sat in the lobby for 30 minutes before they finally gave us a table and when they did the top of the table was all sticky and the bottom of it had so much gum on it and when i got my food the steak was hard as rock and the potatoes had hair all over it and they didnt even give me my appiteizer yet they still made me pay for it and when i asked for a margarita they said that they dont do those even tho it was on the menu and the table next to us had three kids and the parents were none stop yelling and cussing at them it was so bad i was about ready to call child services to get there family checked out read more

We visited Ernies Steakhouse last Wednesday. The food was terrible. The Prime Rib was seriously overcooked and appeared to be left over from the day before and reheated. The meat was extremely salty. My meat was over half FAT and largely inedible. It was so fatty I wouldnt even feed it to my dogs. Out of the 6 members in our party, 4 got sick after eating at Ernies Steakhouse. My recommendation is save your money and go somewhere else. read more

This has to be the coolest place to eat in town. Oh, and the food is just as good as what you'd get in a big city, but no place as this view! I ate near the bar, they had the doors open and the view of Lewiston and the river was quite stunning. The food could be sub-par and you'd still want to be here, but luckily that isn't the case. The bar was well stocked and the staff was extremely professional. The Chicken flatbread for starters was flavorful and definitely made me eager to devour the Selway River Burger for dinner. If I could tip the view I would. The waitress didn't seem to care that we were there drinking and spending money. People who came after us were getting their food before we did. We ordered 3 Caesars salad, and a salmon burger. 20 minutes after ordering, the waitress came to tell us there was no Caesar dressing. That's fine, even though we had been waiting on our food. When we got our food, two out of our three Caesar salads, had ice burg lettuce. The waitress never apologized and kept blaming the kitchen for the mistake. The salmon burger we ordered , (which is a fish sandwich) was delivered as a regular burger, and she told us we made the mistake of ordering it incorrectly. read more

So the ribeye tasted like fennel and was not seasoned good at all. The meat was tough. I sent it back and ended up getting a chicken sandwich. It was good. The popcorn chicken for my daughter was ok the fries die fast. My hubby got the ribs and they had taco seasoning on them. Cumin on ribs is just gross. This restaurant is really good. Little pricey but very nice. I had the surf and turf and a salad. Everything was seasoned well and wood grilled which added even more flavor. The salad had a tasty seasoning on it with fresh croutons. The ambiance and overall feeling of the place is very comfortable. Everyone needs to stop in for a meal. Solo diner, party of one. Thursday night, but don't be sad for me...I have a nice glass of red wine to keep me company. Ernie's has the best patio/view in the area. It's nicely appointed in the Idaho/western rustic motif. I was sat promptly and my wine came to me quickly. I ordered the smoked prime rib medium rare...and it came lightning fast as ordered. Good at jus and ask for the full fledged horse radish if your sinuses need a little kick. Came here for happy hour. GET THE PRIME RIB SLIDERS!!!! best thing I ate at happy hour. We also had the Spicy Cheesy Bacon Flatbread and the Loaded Steakhouse Joes. On the flatbread expect the bacon to fall off and the cheese to be melted together in a way that you can easily peel it off. The loaded steakhouse potatoes were about on par what you could expect at Apple Beas. If you come for happy hour sit on the patio. The view is worth the visit! Also we never got our waters that we ordered from the start but did get our drinks right away. I like Ernie's, the restaurant is always clean, great view. If it's a nice night, the patio is amazing. Food is good, I really like the Zucchini Spears. Salad bar was ok, nothing special. But most entrees that I have had here are pretty good. Service for the most part is good. Had a few members of the staff be a little less friendly than most, but most of the time happy with the service. Compared to the chain restaurants in Lewiston, I would say it's worth a visit! I'll start by saying that, in my opinion, Ernie's has some of the best food in the Valley. I have had few steak and prime rib dinners that equal the quality and value I have experienced at Ernie's. That said, my last two visits to Ernie's have been disappointing because the service was so lacking. I will concede that I usually dine alone and, as such, often do not have a reservation. Because of that I expect to wait at least a little while for a table, especially on weekend evenings. I factor that wait in to the price of dining alone; big parties usually get sat more quickly, no problem. I walked out of Ernie's about ten minutes ago because, after waiting the expected ten to twelve minutes for a table, I was essentially ignored for almost fifteen minutes. My server did stop by soon after I was seated to say that he would be right back and that was the last I saw of him. I made my selections from the menu and then, because I cod see it was busy, knew that I would have a minute to check messages and answer emails. I got through all of my communications and even through my Facebook feed before I started getting a bit perturbed that my server had not stopped by just to let me know that it would be a minute or take a drink order. After two more minutes of inattention, I finally left my table when he walked right past me without so much as a glance. This experience, combined with my last visit and the less than stellar service in the bar, have led me to think that Ernie's exceptional food isn't worth the treatment I get there. I have always thought that Ernie's was a good value for the food you get but I want to be treated with at least a modicum of respect when I am there as a customer. If you want an excellent steak, go to Ernie's. If you want excellent service, go elsewhere. read more

Date night, a cold beer, and a NY steak...What's not to love? The staff were all super sweet and we had a marvelous time seated in the bar area with a wonderful view of the lights. Appetizer of cowboy style tater tot nachos was freakishly enormous, but in keeping with the Texas-like "everything is bigger here" philosophy that works with a place like this. And hey, there are antlers and bullet shells on the walls--It's a theme! Of course it's huge. A side salad was a mistake, mostly iceberg, but again that's not going to be the right choice at a steakhouse so that one's partly on me. Where they shine is the steak, and my marbled NY strip was cooked perfectly medium rare, and came on an effortless and unfussy plate with mashers. I loved it; it required no pomp and hit it out of the park on its own. In short, these guys know who they are. They know how to make a proper steak. They will check on you with kindness and not hover, and it's just an old school classic steakhouse that's maybe a bit old fashioned, but in a good way. Solid place. read more

My husband and I had dinner at Ernie's as part of a group of 8 people. The service was very good. We were seated right away, and our server (Lauren) was quick to bring menus, water, and our drink orders to the table. She was friendly and very organized in taking our orders and keeping track of couples for separate checks. The food was a mixed bag. The Selway Burger was very good, but short of outstanding. The bacon was thick and tasty, however the onion, pickle and tomato were cut too thick to be added as toppings. The onion rings were outstanding! The tenderloin steak was very thin and was wrapped in bacon that was barely cooked (no comparison to the bacon on the burger!). We also ordered appetizers for the table - the steak bites were good, as was the calamari and the oysters. The flatbread was not very good... a few pieces were still on the plate when it was taken away. We will give Ernie's another try at some point. read more

Ate here last weekend, 3/20/22 with a friend. We ordered bacon wrapped filet and ribeye. Both cuts of meat were cooked perfectly. The place was busy but service was great. The PB chocolate cake was delicious! Will definitely eat here again. Our server was Kimm and she was awesome! read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars for two reasons. The food and service here, along with a stunning view of the Snake River valley, is really good! And secondly, because they are WAY better than the three stars the Yelpers have given this place. Spent the evening there last night. This review is based mainly on the food. Restaurant atmosphere and service were good, although the longer I sat at the table the more a rash began to develope on my arms. Assuming for the cleaner used on the tables. Now the food, I ordered the filet mignon, parents ordered the special, surf and turf (prime rib and "jumbo" prawns), my grandmother ordered the bite size. My filet was the only tenderloin I've ever had that's had gristle throughout the entire steak. They didn't even cut the silver skin off. I ordered it medium rare and it was very rare, the bacon was still basically raw in places. My parents "jumbo" prawns were basically small-medium shrimp, the word jumbo is laughable. Their prime rib was ordered medium rare but was a bit over done. My grandmother's bite also ordered medium rare but they were well done, I believe she had one that had a little pink in it. I was looking forward to eating at a nice steakhouse. Reservations made for 5 people for 6:30pm and was told it was a 10 min wait. Showed up at 6:25, proceeded to wait for 45 minutes while we watched LOTS of people leave. We asked to be able to wait at the bar and was told that there isn't any room. Others that came in after us must have been friends with the hostess because they walked up and hugged her, they then asked to be seated at the bar and she took them right away. Once we were seated our server was very nice and brought the appetizer and drinks rather quickly. Our food order however came very long after we placed it. Everyone else's salad came and mine was not there. I had ordered a wedge salad and 15 min later mine arrived. But it was not a wedge salad. Just a pile of Romain hearts and toppings. Probably the worst looking salad I've seen. I chose not to eat it and the main course came right after I made that choice. My chicken fried steak and loaded mashed potatoes which I was looking forward to arrived. The little dollop of potatoes looked as if it was the 'Idahoan' brand of instant mashed potatoes and the chicken fried steak I could've sworn was from frozen. Tasted very bland and the breading was identical to the breading on the cheap Banquet brand chicken nuggets at WalMart. For the price they charge, the time they take to deliver and the POOR quality of food they serve I am surprised they are in business; must be to the high price they charge for mediocre food that keeps them afloat. I would never recommend this place to anyone with a tastebud. I don't do Yelp reviews, but for this place I made an account because I was that disappointed. Our server Erin was good, checked in on us, not too much but just enough. My wife's $30 steak was rubbery overcooked. All in all, you fooled me once but never will fool me again. First of all, we had high hopes. The decor was cowboy, lots of cool bronzes and stuffed animal heads. The waitstaff were wonderful and friendly - they were the best parts of this steakhouse. The food, however, was a disappointment. The bread rolls were stale, the burger was over cooked and possibly a precooked patty. Pretty sad. The lettuce had some weird black spot on it which I tore it off the lettuce leaf - left me wondering who was prepping the food? As a side, I chose the French onion soup. I chose poorly- it had Little flavor, the bread "toast" was soggy and the cheese topping looked bedraggled. Not broiled or melted. Just sitting on top of the soggy mess that was the soup. Maybe it was the chef's night off and they just had an off night, or we didn't order their signature dish or something - But I don't think so- on the way out we noticed a sign that said the place is for sale... maybe that explains it? read more

Not sure why all the negative reviews? This place is awesome. Atmosphere was warm and inviting and food was amazing. I got the surf and turf prime rib/grilled shrimp special and my girlfriend got a 14oz ribeye, both cooked to perfection exactly how we ordered them. So many options when it came to sides as well. I got their French onion soup which was outstanding and a salad bar which was really good. Salad bar was very clean with lots of options including bay shrimp which I love. Our waiter Kenny was a hoot. Quick with a joke and lit up our smoke (kidding), and was super attentive. Basically got a comedy show and a dinner. We forgot our leftovers when we left and he ran them out to us in the freezing cold as we were driving away. Prices were also not bad at all for everything we got. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in Lewiston. 10/10 highly recommend. read more
