I didn't receive a response until the end of day on Tuesday. I also called her bakery multiple times and had no answer or response-- for 4 days! By that point, I already found another bakery to handle the cake, but had I waited, I would have been left in a very bad position. As a fellow business owner, I don't say this lightly ~ the level of communication here is pretty unacceptable. It takes legit, less than a minute to acknowledge an inquiry and set expectations. A simple "I'm totally booked out" or "I'll follow up" would have demonstrated basic professionalism and respect for a potential client's time and energy. When someone goes out of their way to find your business, fill out your form, and actively try to give you money ~ silence and negligence send a very clear message about how that effort is valued. You haven't earned a client here-- and maybe that doesn't matter to you, but word of mouth is the best form of advertisement, and that matters. My response to Christy's response: It takes less than a minute to fire off an email, or simply answer your phone. There's no such thing as "Easter Monday"-- it's just Monday. When someone reaches out with a clear deadline, a quick acknowledgment isn't optional-- it's expected. Even a one-line response would have been enough for me to plan accordingly.

Last year I ran out of cake because I didn't know how to cut a two-layer cake, so this year the cake was in separate layers, with a cardboard layer in between which was an incredible help to me. Everyone who wanted a second slice got a second slice and the cake was delicious and not too sweet. We got so many compliments on this cake from our family from the design to the flavor.
