I wanted to try a new bakery and found this one in the Art District. The best (and only) attribute about the bakery was the dessert display case. However, the goods basically tasted like boxed mixes or store brand items that are VERY over priced. I purchased an assorted of butter cookies and cupcakes that tasted no different from Smith's or Walmart's baked goods. (Albertson's actually has better cupcakes.) The icing on the red velvet and strawberry cream cupcakes were somewhat bland. It was definitely a waste of money and I would not recommend this bakery to anyone. read more

Decent service but I didn't like anything. I ordered a slice of chocolate cake and a carrot cake. Yelp offered 4 free cookies if I checked in, so I did. Yessss! We made it to Freed's at the Arts District! Even though we strolled in about a half hour before closing, everyone working there was still nice and patient with us. It's good to have a carb-filled snack every once in a while when you're out barhopping and trying out new drinks and breweries on Main Street. Walking in, OMG. So many delicious treats to choose from! We couldn't decide whether we should get a cake or some cookies. The guy working behind the counter told us that we could mix and match our cookies and get them in the same box, which was helpful for us. So many cookie choices to choose from but we chose three of our own. We ordered a 1/4 lb of the following cookies - chocolate chip cookie, M&M butter cookie, and raspberry cookie for us to share. The M&M butter cookie was legitimately PACKED with M&Ms. I saved the raspberry cookies for Kyle, as he's not a big chocolate person by all means. I wish I had gotten a picture of our cookies, but we had no tolerance and ate them all. That's how amazingly good they were. Don't skip out on Freed's! They always have the good stuff. read more

Yelp Review 2024 #21: This is Freed's 4th brick-and-mortar store completing all 4 corners of the valley: Henderson, Summerlin, North Las Vegas, and this Downtown Las Vegas location. If you live in the area, it would make sense to get cakes and other sweet treats here - they don't really have much of a competition when it comes to bakeries that has whole cakes except the small mom and pop shop, Cake World (honestly, they have better cakes than Freed's). What Freed's has going on is familiarity and variety. They've been around for quite some time. And they do have a lot of products - from cookies, cupcakes, cake slices, whole cakes, cannoli, eclairs, cream puffs, and cheesecake. You can get cookies by the quarter, half or a while pound - but they don't classify macarons as cookies. I'm not a fan of their cookies but I've noticed grandmothers love their cookies. Their cakes are ultra sweet. Your teeth would literally hurt. It would take me at least 5 days to finish a cake slice. Dessert is sweet but it shouldn't be this sweet. We've gotten 2 slices of cake: Parisian, and Blackout. Parisian Cake: They describe this as "Las Vegas' favorite chocolate cake since 1959! Rich chocolate cake filled and iced with Freed's Bakery's scratch made Belgian chocolate whipped cream. Topped with chocolate shavings and a sprinkle of powdered sugar! One of Freed's Bakery of Las Vegas' most popular dessert cake flavors!" This chocolate cake is supposed to be their best seller - it's ok. 3/5 Blackout Cake: Chocolate cake filled with fudge, iced with chocolate buttercream and finished with ganache. The daisy topping is cute. 2/5 Parking is a problem in Downtown Las Vegas which makes going to this location a big hassle. I would eating at restaurants nearby and I would watch Freed's customer illegally park at spot that isn't even a painted parking spot. Service? The least friendly people in all of the 4 locations.
