This bar is so cute! My server Franklin was full of conversation and assistance immediately, he even offered to make me a lemonade that they didn't have on the menu which was so sweet! I would definitely return here with a group of friends, possibly for one of their trivia or karaoke night events. I love the interior, it's very open, cozy, and the perfect pinch of retro due to a literal juke box. I recommend ordering the Shishido peppers, they're a clean appetizer that accompanies a round of wings or the beef tacos perfectly (both were delicious)! I opted for a classic margarita, although they offer frozen margaritas and frozen rosé. They also have a bunch of cocktails to choose from which is great, the beer list is like an epic scroll so no worries on lack of drink options here. I can't believe I've never discovered this place before. Definitely a cute neighborhood bar - great for drinks with friends or that first date you've been itching to go on. I came in on the night of a treacherous storm - eventually labeled a tornado in the Bronx. After our outdoor adventure I can see why! We were sitting in those little igloos with the door open (still deciding how covid safe they are) when it started to drizzle, then pour, then SIDEWAYS rain. Luckily the rain was going sideways the other way, but that security blanket only lasted a few moments. Before we knew it we were holding onto everything in sight, afraid of what would blow away. After seeing two of the igloos collapse in front of our eyes and wait staff rushing to keep them from flying into the streets we ran into the actual bar for cover. As pandemonium hit an all new level and I saw the waitstaff take on their 101 new job duty, my appreciation for them and this bar did not waver. After the chaos the waiter came over profusely apologizing and offering a drink on the house to thank us for our troubles. The service can't be beat, the ambiance was cute and their was ample outdoor dining-- but perhaps to be saved for better weather evenings. Here is my bulleted review of our first time at E's Bar. Vibe - was promising but went downhill once we sat down. Service - our server was very distracted. Our server seemed very rushed and distracted. She also asked us to move from a four-person table to a two-person table even though the front of the house sat us down. After we accepted to move she explained that well if four people came in or if someone had a reservation we would have asked you to move anyways. She was slow in taking our order and always seemed in a rush not giving full attention. When bringing our drink order she spilled some of the Bloody Mary on my slacks and then was like oh look you got some on you. Instead of offering to help. Quality of Drinks - We both ordered the Candy Cane martini. Both the mixing and presentation of the martini were poor at best. You could not taste any chocolate and peppermint and it mostly just tasted of vodka. I got a Bloody Mary as well to take advantage of happy hour. It again was mixed poorly, so I didn't miss the little bit that was dropped on my leg. It tasted mostly of vodka and the mix seemed like tomato sauce from a Chef Boyardee can. Quality of Food - The burgers were okay, nothing to write home about but tasted fine. The French fries were solid, except for my order of Spicy fries. Service initially brought out the wrong fries with my order. I let them know and they took them back to fix. It seems like they were just thrown back in a bowl and had spicy dumped on them real quick and then a few slices of jalapenos dumped on them. They were not spicy at all. All in all. It was a mediocre visit to E's Bar. It is still the holidays so I left a tip but this is one of the first times in a while I considered not. I saw all the good reviews and was excited to visit. Visited E's for the first time today and I had a great time. Starting off with the obvious, all staff is masked, the seats have plastic borders between them, sanitizer is provided and the cutlery is disposable. There is also outdoor dining available. The indoor seating area is unique and creates an awesome vibe. I really loved the board games stacked on the wall so you can have some fun while you're waiting for your food. I've never seen that done before at a food spot so it was really cool. The food was good, I recommend the Mac n cheese (delicious), quesadillas and the quac and chips. The appetizers are large portions so order wisely (I ordered way too much expecting small sizes). Id just recommend better lighting in the facility but otherwise it was a great time. read more

I gave this place 3 stars but it's not to say I didn't have a good time here. I started off with a margarita, which was poured out of a jug. For $11 I would think they would be freshly made. It was definitely strong and kind of had an artificial taste to it. I also had Pinot Grigio which was fine. My friend & I got a free shot of tequila from a very eager bartender as well. The fun part about this place is the games. They have almost any game you can think of. My friend & I played cards, sorry, candy land, & tic tac toe. We definitely enjoyed ourselves. The actual place is pretty big, it feels like 3 different rooms. The first area is where the bar is, the second where the leathers booths are and the third more open space with a brick wall. The music was okay since they had some r&b, besides that I don't know what the other music was. Overall the place was entertaining, drinks could be better. I didn't realize day drinking was this big of a deal. My friend had her birthday party here at 1pm on a Saturday (yes, that's a thing). She grabbed the long table in the front of the bar for her group of about twenty, and it was the perfect ambiance for us to hang. E's is so chill, has a good crowd going at any time of day, and with its rock stickers and murals, it feels like a little divey slice of Brooklyn in the UWS. We had just gotten done with a tough week in school, and we were out and about on a night of debauchery. We took the subway from south Harlem, and this was the next stop. This bar is pretty big. It has some outdoor seating, and has plenty of space inside. We decided to sit toward the back of the place, which was less crowded and was more quiet. There was an assortment card and board games available to the patrons. There were also dart boards available. My group was a bit too buzzed to do either, so we just ate, drank, and conversed for a while. We ordered food and drinks from a touchscreen. We started with shots of whiskey, and chased them down with a shot of pickle juice. I then ordered some shrimp tacos, which had a large portion of shrimp. Looking for a restaurant for a big group of friends on Amsterdam Ave and we were able to grab a round table and the side for like 10 plus people. It' was still Happy Hour here till 7pm and this place was packed with groups in the WAY back room ! I decided to get a $6.50 lager and the HH cheeseburger. The burger itself was soooo good . It tasted like it was off the grill itself. It's price at $6 dollars and I ate mine totally in one seating .Someone got fries at $4.50 and I had some too. They have board games to play all around inside . They have a old school Juke box . It's dark in the middle so you have to watch your step going up a few steps walking towards the back. Had I written this review prior to tonight's experience, it would have been a 5 star review with glowing commentary. Let's start with that to be fair. We recently stumbled upon this place a couple of weeks ago. I was seriously craving a burger (thank you pregnancy hormones). After a lengthy google search, I came upon their incredible happy hour menu and we decided to give it a try. I love a great happy hour. We ordered the burger and fries. Both were tasty. Our server was incredible as well. She was sweet, on top of it and made our experience quite enjoyable. Since our first adventure, we have been back a few times. The food is consistently delicious. The service is always at least okay, but typically great. So why the three stars? Tonight, our last night in NYC before our big move, we decided to take our two kids along to enjoy a delicious burger. In the process of showing our vaccination cards, we were told that we could only eat outside due to our children being unvaccinated. One is two and the other is three, both ineligible for the vaccine. He said we could only sit outside. However, we only saw tall tables. The tables would not accommodate a high chair and would be dangerous for my three year old as well. I asked if they had any other table options and he rolled his eyes then replied no. It's not only the issue of being turned away that is disappointing. It was the unnecessary and unwelcoming attitude that came along with it. We have eaten in plenty of resultant a with our children since the new requirements and have never had an issue. We also specifically asked our server last time if we could bring our children inside to eat (considering that it is a bar, felt like a valid question). He said of course your children are welcome. Solid, welcoming neighborhood bar. Dropped by on one of those busy NYC happy hour nights when it was impossible to get in anywhere else, and it worked out really well! We were welcomed right away by friendly workers who were were nice about the unknown wait time since it was bar seating. Luckily, we arrived when someone was leaving so they were able to quickly turnover the table. The food menu is simple bar eats, nothing crazy. I ordered a falafel burger and fries. So happy I stumbled across this place! My friends and were trying to eat at Jacob's Pickles and were told it would be an hour and half wait, so my boyfriend suggested we just have a couple of drinks at a nearby bar while we waited. E's bar was right next door, and pretty empty for a Friday night during Happy Hour, which my friends pointed out, taunting. Then we stepped inside and realized never judge a bar by its empty-looking storefront. SO MANY BOARD GAMES! Came to this spot tonight, ordered "a shot of fernet" server asked if I wanted anything else, I said "no", he asks 2xs what I wanted to order. My partner said fernet, I said fernet, friends at the table say fernet. Guy again asks me what I want and what I want with fernet, I said "I just want a plain shot of fernet". As a bartender from San Francisco, I've never been treated like a stranger when ordering a shot of fernet at a bar. I would also buckle over if I was bartending and the server was treating our customers that way. Dude comes to the table and again, while dropping the shot of fernet at table, says this is just a shot of fernet and it's what you asked for. Yes! Thanks dude, that is what I asked for! And he continued to make remarks- stating that they have many kinds of fernet. Instead of being an ass, let a customer know the fernets you have and ask which they would like. And if you don't know your fernets, you can ask- branca vs menta, or original vs minty, anything else! But don't shit on your customers because you don't know shit about the liquors you sell. Be kind, ask the right questions, serve the beverage. And yes, I'm a bartender posting a bad review on Yelp. It was that crappy of service. read more

We came here on the 4th of July for their Happy Hour. We walked in were a tad unsure about what to do, but we moseyed over to the bar and ordered a Angry Orchard Rose and the e's lager. We quickly nabbed one of the last seats outside and started a vigorous round of Spot It!. My rose was good, a lot sweeter than anticipated for a rose, but that's okay. I didn't end up finishing it and pawned it off to boyfriend. He was enjoying his lager, naming it as refreshing and very light. It was a great summer outdoor beer. I eventually went back in and ordered a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc, which was much more palatable and my taste. It was wonderfully chilled and was the perfect antidote to a humid day. After roasting boyfriend in our game, we decided to head out. It wasn't super packed when we arrived around 4 but it was getting there when we left around 5 pm. Overall, a great spot for a neighborhood beer and fun board games. A decent happy hour that can get loud, or stay intimate, depending on where seated. I've been coming to E's since 2015. The bar hasn't changed, it's always been consistent for great atmosphere, awesome and comfortable booth seating, ample room for groups of any size. It's not pretentious, but they definitely know how to create an excellent vibe. E's music playlist and Juke box puts you in a great mood. If you're looking for entertainment, they have live events like free standup comedy on Monday (comedyatesbar on ig), trivia, board games galore, and special events which popup on their calendar. The food is yummy, not pricey, and the happy hour appetizers/ all night menu are very well thought out. They have a very solid drinks menu, and again, priced well so you won't be shocked at the bill. I also want to shout out the staff: the bartenders are attentive, and the whole team there is easygoing and helpful. Again, the private backroom is great for comedy on Mondays, but I also suggest renting it out for your next private booking. It's a total vibe. I'd point anyone to E's for an obvious home away from home on the UWS. Check it out, you'll feel like a regular even if you're just here on holiday. read more
