Bar is still fun with games and such. However it's new owners and they now give small drinks and charge a LOT more! Went last week with my gf and a 6oz, tequila and soda with top shelf liquor served in a little plastic cup was 16$! Even a tiny club soda was 4$! They are approaching rooftop prices! Been going to this bar for 6 years and it's never been such a rip off! I'd recommend going for happy hour only and/or only ordering bottom shelf and just a drink or two. E's a fun bar, but it's not without its faults. I go here fairly regularly for trivia on Tuesdays. While I enjoy it, there are definitely items that can be improved. The prices are too high for the portions and quality. Almost everything on the menu should be knocked down by a $1 or $2. A glass of house wine shouldn't be over $11 with tax and tip at a casual bar. The ordering is hit or miss with the touch screen. While I enjoy the simplicity of it and being able to order as you go without having a waiter hover over you, it does become frustrating when the touch screens don't work (which happens more frequently than desired). The last thing which was bothersome happened the last time I was there for trivia. We usually grab a booth in the back early since those tend fill up quickly. One of the managers said that they're reserved for 5 or more people even though our party was going to have people trickling in until the start of trivia. It just seemed a little confrontational. But now for the positives: Their happy hour burger is delicious. The cheese sauce they use is divine and it's one of the few items on the menu that's a solid deal. They have board games. Like tons of them. Everywhere. This is a perfect spot to meet up with friends and play some games or even for a date. Trivia. Trivia on Tuesdays is really fun and the prizes are decent. One of the main reasons why I go. Overall, E's is a solid bar which cool vibe. I would say the biggest suggestion I could make to management is to either lower prices a little or at least add some more food items to the happy hour specials. read more

Pretty cool spot in the neighborhood. Right next to Jacobs Pickles which I can imagine would be tough to compete with but they do a good job keeping their spot bumping. They have a really sweet outdoor spot which is good to post up for a couple of drinks and with some of their groovy playlists in the background. They also have board games so if you are not there to watch one of the games they have on you can kick it with those. Don't let the divey features of the bar discourage you from ordering food. The food is damn good. We got some nachos and fries which really hit the spot and all fairly priced. The only reason I took a star off is the bartender almost seemed like he was trying to avoid me. I politely sat there trying to make eye contact but he seemed to see everyone but me. Who knows, maybe I caught him on a bad day but the cherry on top was when an attractive woman walked in, he pretty much sprinted to the corner of the bar to take her order. What the hell, I do not blame him at all. I would probably have done the same thing. However, ya boy was still just trying to get his round. I love E's bar! It's a little more expensive than some other bars in the area but the happy hour $6 burger makes up for it. The staff is always great and the vibe is good. I love that there are lots of board/cards games you can play. I also helped organize a couple of fundraisers here and they've been great. They have a reasonable deal, very reasonable prices and there's a separate area that they arrange it in. I was going to give them 4 stars before I remembered that the staff risked their lives to warn people in the apartments above them about a fire, thereby saving everyone's lives. On top of that, they helped raise money for the people who lost everything in the fire. E's bar is truly amazing! read more

Totally recommend this car. This bar is everything you want and need. Good staff, Good drinks, good food. It's largely a Columbia crowd but maybe it's more grad students. The 4-5 times I've been it never feels like "sophomore year". It's usually a chill crowd and an enjoyable place. The first time you go you might take a few mins finding the bathroom. It's a slightly hidden door. It took me a minute the first time. But it's not hard (provides your not too drunk). I liked the tacos. First let me say, I use to love this spot. Great hang before or after Jacob's Pickles. But I recently left with a really bad taste in my mouth. My husband and I came in for a quick drink after gorging our faces at JP's, we came with our almost 3 year old daughter. My husband, who just wanted to watch the last 4 mins of the game gave my daughter some blocks to play with momentarily. As the game was close to ending (but we still had 2/3 of our drinks left, a staff member approaches us as says "the owner doesn't really like children at the front of the bar (mind you it's 2pm), would you mind going all the way to the back so he doesn't see you". Let's just say- we left without finishing our drinks (but paid it) and decided to never come back. I use to run a bar closeby and I would never say that to a customer. I know a child does not belong at a bar. But this wasn't 9pm on a busy night, this is during the day where all you see are families grabbing a drink, watching the game, hanging out with friends. Additionally, my daughter was being quiet, supervised by us in their almost empty bar. If what the staff member said about the owner is true- wish he'd been the one to say that to me directly instead of pawning off his dirty work on this staff. I've been coming here for years and think this place is a "find". The atmosphere is chill and super cool and the food is the best bar food I've had. Their burgers are exceptional and their quesadillas are simple the best. Like no kidding, the best. There is also a server that deserves special recognition; Franklin. He has beeen there for years and he is the most kind, courteous, helpful and pleasant person. E's Bar is soooo blessed and fortunate to have him on their side. At first I was disappointed they didn't have their draft beers available. But then I tasted their $5 happy hour e's burger. And boy was I surprised. It's probably the juiciest, tastiest burger I've ever had. The bun was toasted perfectly so that it was still fluffy on the inside. Came here twice, one time with coworkers and the establishment is nice intimate. The bartenders are very nice ans treat you like family. I just went yesterday for a quick drink, i think its called the frozen rose. It was so good. Last time i went there with coworkers for happy hour and we ordered the nachos those were really good. Sometimes there are bars that are so deserving of a five star review it's almost criminal to not take time to come on to the app and write a review. e's bar is one such place. First, you walk into this bar that has a Brooklyn hipster vibe with decals on the ceilings and a smattering of board games to play with and a $1 juke box in the corner filled with the 1999 top 40. Second, the staff and bartenders are very friendly and quick to help. Third, the food is legit. Good burger and crispy fries. If you asked me, Eric, what do you want in a bar? I would begin to describe e's bar. In fact, if I owned my own bar, I might call it e's bar and have it set-up and appointed like this one. Great bar. Easy review. 5 stars. UPDATE:The coveted fifth star appears. I've been to E's Bar twice lately. Our last visit was sitting outside. I drank an Aperol Spritz (12) and the GF, a Sauvignon Blanc (10). We snacked on fried shishito peppers with a dipping sauce (aioli?) and garlic bits (8), and excellent snack and a good value. I also tried the spicy margarita (12) and loved it (54 for two rounds, two people, outside of happy hour). The service was excellent. I live about 9 blocks away and I will always go out of my way for E's because it suits me. Maybe it suits you too? Actually a 4.5. I really can't believe I haven't been to this place until now. E's burger: it's legit. Toasted bun, Excellent thick juicy patty that's well seasoned with melted cheese. And only $5 for happy hour, $8 regular (topping extra). Spicy fries: get them please with your burger. Very decent and addictive. Topped with pickled red chili, cilantro, and basil (it works!) and I'm guessing tossed with paprika/cayenne? And not really that spicy so don't worry. Def get these over the plain fries. My friends and I have frequented this bar the past few years, and it never disappoints. First, Mark, the GM (I think), is a great guy, and always makes us feel at home when we visit, as if he is one of us. We went several times and found Mark there to help accommodate our large and unexpected parties. We enjoyed drinking the night away. Next, we went down again for my brother's birthday last year, and Mark wasn't available. I made sure to make a reservation for 20 or so people, and they managed to misplace our reservation, something posed to ruin the night for your brother's birthday. But, another manager was on staff, managed to get us some space in the restaurant, and accommodate our party, allowing us to have an excellent night. The food, specifically the burger, is worth writing home about. The first time my buddy and I tried this burger, granted we had been drinking profusely, we couldn't stop talking about it the next day, as if it was the best burger ever. It was amazing. The service was quickly and friendly. They had messed up our food order, but promptly handled it once we let them know. The outdoor seating here is excellent - especially since the UWS is such a fun area. Drink prices were super fair (my glass of wine was $10 and my boyfriend's beer was $6). You first pass through the outdoor seating area which leads to a bar section, followed by steps to a dining section and finally a lounge area for chilling and board games. They definitely cater to all types of customers; whether you prefer to sit outside, by a bar, or in a dine in setting, e's Bar has got you covered. This is also a great spot if you plan on hosting an event or small gathering. Crispy NY Sharp Cheddar balls- Amazing! This is a must try. Spring Veggies- The dip that comes with the veggies is great! This is a difficult time to go out. Having said so we prescouted out E's for the following Outside Covered Seating and Heat. I was dismayed that I had to give my credit card info in advance. As well as being charged $25 per no show. Initially we had some issues the reservation app. We emailed the Bar and was quickly responded to. When we got there we were quickly seated and the server (Franklyn) was very accommodating. They were a bit short staffed but given times He was fine. This is an amazing place! Wandered in with a large group after brunch and looking for a chill place to hang out. THIS WAS PERFECT. There are oversized booths, smaller booths, tables and outdoor seating and the place is filled with different types of games - think cards against humanity, jenga, bop-it. Even boardgames too. My group of 8 was easily able to sit, get a bunch of pitchers and start up a game of cards against humanity. A few hours, pitchers and many appetizers later we were still having such a blast. There was no table service - which was nice given the size of our group. Everyone had to go to the bar to place orders. There are TV's in the bar and the hostest came over to ask us what we wanted a watch and had a long list of games to choose from. We got chips and guac, cheese balls and buffalo chicken. I was looking for a different kind of bar to bring my friend to who is visiting from Miami. We wanted a chill spot with a hip vibe and some good snacks. We were not disappointed and I must add that the Yelp check in deal of buy one get one didn't hurt one bit! I had the falafel burger and spicy fries. When they say spicy they mean it! I'm a spicy food lover but these were just too spicy for my belly although I have to say the cajun seasoning, fresh basil, chopped peppers, and diced scallion made it hard to stop eating them and I am certainly paying for it today! The falafel burger had fresh chickpeas inside and a creamy aioli sauce that helped balance out the spice from the fries. The $12 meal certainly brought more than I can chew and was so good I nearly ate every bite. I had the Ommegang Witte beer, one of my favorites, and a reasonable $8 pint glass, due to its light and creamy taste, very refreshing and highly recommended if having the spicy fries! I made the mistake of having a shot of the homemade cinnamon whiskey since they didn't have Fireball, I certainly regret it, just WAY too strong for me and a pretty gross aftertaste. The BEST PART were the games. I had never played Cards Against Humanity and had the time of my life doing so, to the point I must get the game to have at home. I also rocked my friend winning 7 hands of Dominoes (what can I say I am Dominican-dusting shoulders off), but would love if they got the regular set, this set included double the amount and too many for my calculation skills. There was also some truth or dare Jenga (invented by E's bar) that a couple was playing which seemed really fun. Finally got the chance to check out this bar after all the hype it's received in the neighborhood. It was New Year's Day and the place was pretty packed, found seats at the bar pretty quickly. The bar specials were good, it was $7 signature cocktails. Ordered a whiskey sour and it was well made. Was going to order a fixins burger but it just so happens the cheeseburger was $5 on happy hour, Also order of fries. The burger was pretty juicy even without requesting a temp. The fries were deliciously fried and crisp. Couldn't stop eating them. The atmosphere was pretty chill, nice red glow of the place made it feel cozy. The bartender was nice as well checking in on us. To be honest, my 2 friends and I were supposed to be next door, at Jacob's Pickles but they said the wait would be 30 minutes so we put our name on that list and then hopped on over next door to E's Bar for drinks. They had a yelp check-in deal for BOGO drinks. How can you pass that up? And what else to do besides drink while you wait for your table, right? So we walked in here, grabbed our own table, and then you go up to the bar to place your drink and food orders. They were overall super nice and friendly. I felt comfortable asking them for any help or for anything. At one point I was trying to find the restroom and one of the staff noticed and pointed me in the right direction. The door is kind of hidden because it totally blends in to the rest of the wall. Very nice. I think what made the night more enjoyable was that they had a lot of board and card games so we just grabbed random games, ate some appetizers, and enjoyed our drinks. I usually get really tired after drinks but because of the environment and company, it was a rare evening where I didn't feel like I wanted to drop in my bed and KTFO. In the end, we never made it over to Jacob's Pickles... we ordered more food and got more drinks. Great evening. Would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Great *newish* bar located on the Upper West Side. I visited last night with a friend and it was great. Nice lively atmosphere, good beer selections, great cocktails (sangria was perfect) and music was cool. I love the decor and lighting of the place. I challenge you to try to find the bathroom doors! Pretty tricky but unique. Their happy hour changes daily so be sure to check the site. However, whatever daily special they have goes all night on that particular day. The Friday night special is $7 for a beer and shot. Other nights they have sangria specials and other deals. I'm glad I found this bar. It was fun and the bartenders were extra friendly and attentive. I'll come back and bring friends. FYI, my friend had the burger and she said it was delish! This is a neat little neighborhood bar. A friend took me here for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat when I was visiting NYC recently. They had TVs showing a couple of different college football games and they had games available for the patrons to play at their tables. The bar staff was friendly (well, they did know my friend) and the atmosphere was positive. About the time we left, they were setting up for karaoke. Restrooms were kinda hidden - they're at the stairs that separates the from and the back of the establishment - look for the accordion style wall along the stairs, as the doors to the restroom will push in.
