This place was fantastic! The ambiance was beautiful from the moment we walked in, with the option to sit inside or outside. The dim lighting and overall atmosphere made it feel like a true hidden gem in NYC. The service was top-tier. Our server constantly checked in on us, gave us honest recommendations and feedback on the menu, and maintained such a positive attitude throughout the entire night. Even the manager was incredibly friendly and stopped by our table a few times to make sure everything was going well. It honestly felt like we were dining with a group of friends! This place was absolutely AMAZING! It hit 5 stars on all aspects from the service to the food to the ambiance! I will definitely be patronizing again in the near future. A friend and I chose to experience the Restaurant Week lunch special since neither of us had been to this restaurant before. We sat at the bar and decided to go for the $19 lunch special they serve Monday - Friday instead. We had alot of staff servicing us. Even though we sat at the actual bar, we had a floor server attending to us as well as the bar staff. We even met the manager, Tiffany, as she introduced herself to us and made sure we were taken care of properly. The UWS location is huge. It is about 2/3rds of a North/South block with an enclosed patio built in the front of the restaurant. The bar is simply beautiful. It is half inside and half on the sidewalk also semi enclosed. I did not walk around the inside of the restaurant but I did see there were alot of mirrors and a darker interior. Bar was filled with liquor on the walls and gave it a modern day saloon feel. Very comfortable and inviting. We ordered drinks initially. They were carefully crafted and tasty on a hot summer day. I ordered the Waldorf Salad lunch special and my friend had the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I must say the portions are large. They make sure you do not leave hungry! :) Both entrees came with soup and a second side. I had the biscuit and honey/maple butter. Oh my was it heavenly. My friend was super satisfied with her sandwich. It looked like a meal fit for a Queen! All of the food was seasoned well. While we were still enjoying our meal the bar changed from lunch to happy hour service. My friend decided to order the Margarita flight. It came with three flavored margaritas for a mere $12. I tried the Spicy Brine Margarita and it will now be the only drink I have for future visits. So delicious and flavorful. We were having such a great time as the bar filled with patrons and we spoke with our neighbors. At this time one of our servers brought us a complimentary pretzel. It was the star of the show from presentation to taste I would recommend anyone to try it. The bathrooms are unisex. By the time I needed to use it the restaurant was crowded and so it needed to be serviced. The stall I utilized had a strong urine smell and needed a proper cleaning. Management might consider placing air fresheners in each stall to at least give the illusion of cleanliness. This restaurant raised the bar for hospitality! The service was top notch as well as the food and atmosphere. If you have not tried this place I highly suggest that you do. It is a 100 out of 10 establishment for NYC! I stumbled upon this gem during a Sunday stroll. I had only planned to stop in for a drink, but one look at the menu convinced me to order brunch; and I'm so glad I did. Brunch at Jacob's Pickles is a real treat. I ordered the coleslaw with pickles as a side, it was delicious. The breakfast platter was absolutely massive and overall good, a bit salty for me, and the biscuit was a bit soft. But the grits were delightful. I sat at the bar, so the service was fine, though not particularly memorable. What I loved most was the patio: it's partially open and partially enclosed, letting you enjoy plenty of natural light while staying cool in the air conditioning. It gives you the feeling of dining outdoors without the noise or wind from the street. The interior design is beautiful and adds so much to the experience. Tried Jacob's Pickles for the first time with friends. Had the calamari with fried pickles appetizer, loved the fried pickles and aioli sauce that came with it. The calamari was alright as I've had better, some pieces were kind of chewy and other pieces were great. Liked that it was lightly breaded. Had the grilled salmon salad over a salad and enjoyed it. Loud inside and the place was hopping as we had our early dinner after being in the museum all day. My friends enjoyed their burrata salad. Heading into the city there's a million of restaurants to check out and Jacob's Pickles is pretty known. But is it worth it? Sadly no... The biscuits and gravy came out in less than 5 mins, you would assume that's great right? Nope, it was still half cold like they just threw it in the oven for 4 mins and hoped for the best. Yeah no...half warm half cold gravy and sausage? Not the best. The smash burger was just burnt, yes i understand the concept of a smash burger you want a crisps to it but you also want meat to bite into just like a regular burger. Fries and pickles were good tho. Thankfully. The lemon chicken was pretty good but def didn't have any lemon taste to it. But that's also a personal preference so I can't knock them down for that. I had the salmon burger which came with 2 cups of green salad (or fries) and a cup of soup of the day (lentil). The soup was good. The salmon burger was mostly breading and was piled with shredded cabbage. The sandwich was dry, but a little better after I requested tartar sauce. My companion had the biscuit with fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, bacon, slaw, and a side of grits. He liked it. Walking on the west side of the park in the way to see the Jackie O reservoir, Yelpers led the way to Jacob's Pickles. What a great spot with outdoor seating and a varied menu to suit all preferences. It's clearly a place for locals to hangout for an adult beverage and or meal. Our waiter warned us that the portions are generous and it was no lie! When I sat down, I eyed the wedge salad at the next table and decided that was for me. Now, what I didn't know was that it came with two large pieces of fried chicken that were moist and tender. Marinating in buttermilk will do that so I appreciate that extra touch. Half of the order came back with me for dinner the next day. Hubby got the big bowl of mussels and fries and enjoyed the order. Wow this is quite a lot of food. If you are looking for a good southern style brunch or lunch spot in the upper west side, Jacob's pickles is a classic. This spot just reopened after the old Jacob's pickles shutdown and they really changed the whole vibe of the place. It is much larger much more seating with open windows making it quite a vibe on a great summer days with good weather. We came in with a party of 6 and we had to order a platter of pickles and i ordered a hot honey chicken French toast. Service was nice and kind and understanding. They actually messed up my order first time through and brought out honey chicken and buscuits but understood after realizing the mixup, so my food took a bit longer to come out than for most people (around 25ish mins). As many reviews for Jacob's pickles claim, the portion sizes here are massive. That hot honey French toast is basically two separate meals and was quite delicious. The breast was nice and soft and the chicken was sweet and perfectly fried. I am also a fan of all things hot honey. While I wouldn't say this was the healthiest lunch option on the menu, it is quite filling and delicious. For the price, a great value option for a delicious meal. So I made a return to the newest location and found my experience to be ok, compared to my last. I just don't know about this one. It was some hits and misses with the food. The service could have been better and our table placement also should have been better, being that we did make reservations. The options on the menu, weren't that interesting to me, it took me quite a bit of time to order. Anyway something about this visit just was off and I didn't leave fulfilled, like my last visit. The pickles were delicious the biscuits in gravy is better than your grandma's. Don't get me started also on the root beer. Wow this place was delicious. I had been meaning to try this place for a while and I can see why it is so popular. Firstly, our server started off by letting us know that the portions were big but the were so much bigger than I imagined (definitely not a complaint!) All the food was great! The deviled eggs were delicious, I enjoyed all of the different types of pickles which all had different flavors and were nice and crunchy. The Special Biscuit French Toast was Oreo and very light and not too sweet so the maple syrup was able to take it to another level. Jacob pickles kles has always been a great place in the UWS, vibes and music was always on point. Love the fried chicken and biscuits from here. Their fried pickles were delicious. The spinach and artichoke dip was not up to par this time I went, the spinach tasted a bit old and can definitely tell it was frozen or left in the fridge too long. Unfortunately, this time zi did get food poisoning, I do not think it was from the dip but maybe from unclean glassware as there was a funky taste to my cup and water. Was spending a day with my two girlfriends, when they decided on eating at Jacob's Pickles. They ate there already, and I am surprised I never have since my dad lives only three blocks away from it. I suggested making a reservation, and good thing we did. The place was crowded for a 3pm on a Saturday. We were sat at a table near the windows on the little extension part of the restaurant. I liked that the tables were spaced out, not on top of one another like in other places. The space was really elegantly decorated. We ordered the Fried Pickles ($15) for the table. I think it will be much easier to get reservations and the tables aren't as close together. The service was super fast and efficient! What's left to say about Jacob's Pickles that hasn't already been said? We've been eating here since the beginning, but this was our first time at its new, expansive location on Columbus. The space was previously home to Gabriella's, a good tequila bar + fair Tex-Mex restaurant, and has been renovated with elegant, clean lines and mirrors that bring outside light deep into the restaurant. The time seems appropriate for a re-review. By way of background, I was born and raised in the south. Biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, chicken and waffles, cornbread, grits, banana pudding and/or Jello "salads" made their appearance at just about every get together. It's a cuisine I know and love. Jacob's Pickle serves good to decent versions of these southern standards. The fried chicken, which seems to make a showing in half the dishes on the menu, is thickly breaded, well brined, and tender. It's not far short of what one would find at Charles Pan Fried Chicken, a place I find standard-setting for fried chicken in NYC. Too often, though, the chicken isn't really allowed to take center stage, but is drowned in hot honey butter or gravy. Don't get me wrong: chicken with gravy is a wondrous thing. But if you're going to go to the trouble of frying that thickly breaded chicken fresh, do it the justice of leaving it crisp. In my world, chicken with gravy is for church picnics, large format brunches, and other get togethers where the chicken has to be pre-fried and left to sit for a l'il while. Everything is more oily than it has to be, which believe it or not is not always a hallmark of southern cooking. Case in point: grits. I swoon over grits when they're made well. JP's are very smooth (not stone ground, which I admit is my preference), made with a lot of butter and possibly another fat that isn't butter, as well. There's a touch of cheese. But oily as it is, there's something flat, something lacking in umami, about the preparation that I can't quite put a finger on. Favorite versions from home include heavy cream, sometimes black pepper, and sometimes broth. The mouthfeel of JP's grits is somehow more oily, but less rich, than those. While baja salmon, a new-to-me menu item, was well seasoned, moist, and fresh, it was also excessively oleaginous. The dish almost seemed to have been finished with butter and oil just as some Indian dishes are finished with a tadka or some Sichuan dishes with chili oil, which... didn't really work, here. The spinach underneath the salmon was unpleasantly hypersaturated with oil. Quick rundown of some other menu items: - The turkey leg is fall-off-the-bone tender, served with consistently undersalted mashed potatoes, stuffing, and a wee bit of cranberry sauce. I don't think it's a menu strength, but my convives sometimes order it as a slightly healthier option. - Biscuits are good enough that I wouldn't feel embarrassed about feeding these to a southerner. - Salads are large and well composed. - Cocktails, including the Bloody BLT at our most recent meal, are well made and by NYC's ridiculous standards, well priced. The beer list is both well curated are well priced. - Pickles are legitimately great. They're fun to eat and I think made in house, perfectly acidic, briny and in some cases spicy. I recently brought a selection of these for a pickle-loving buddy in Maine. Portion sizes are, as others have noted, large by NYC standards, but fairly normal by southern standards. If it's too much food, just bring a box or ask for one for leftovers. We didn't love some of the wait staff we encountered at our most recent meal. (Some seemed unfriendly and exasperated at a baseline level.) But the staffing pool is enormous and we've had lovely hostesses and servers in the past, so perhaps we just drew a short straw this time. It's a wonderful space. There are enough good things going for Jacob's Pickles -- not least its proximity to home -- that I'm sure we'll be back. read more

If you're in New York and haven't been to Jacob's Pickles yet, what are you doing!!??? It's southern comfort food done right (I went with some southerners who say it's the best they've had in NYC). The new location is so spacious and the food came out lightning FAST! Seriously within -0 minutes of ordering and it was a little busy on a Sunday. Dishes and drinks we devoured in order of appearance: *Hot Honey Chicken and Toast *Southern BLT *Sweet & Smoky Meatloaf *Drinks: Jam Jar, Rosemary Vodka Lemonade, Austin East Cider The dishes are $25-30 each but they are BIG portions. I wanted a quick breakfast before the start of my first day in New York. I stopped in here and I was given a table quickly and the restaurant was clean and the host and waiter were nice. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs over easy. I had to also order the spicy pickles and jalapeños. I really enjoyed my meal. The gravy wasn't too thick and the biscuits were flaky. The pickles and jalapeños were tasty. Spicy but yet sweet. Stop in and have a good breakfast. read more

Came back again, to their huge new location. Visited only a few weeks after they opened so the were still working out the kinks. The solarium/front part didn't have heat yet so it was a bit uncomfortable. Was told that they were putting in heating the next week. Also, dealing with the sun was a challenge. Should have brought a hat cause it was blinding for a little bit. That being said, the food was delicious as usual. Huge portions still-had a BEC and a friend ordered the fried chicken salad . Said it was good. Staff is very accommodating and nice. read more
