Solid food! Husband and I split the asada fries, pastor sope, and a tempura fried avocado taco. Good portion sizes, awesome distribution of toppings, and fair pricing. Check it out!

I have two favorite Mexican food places to eat in ventura (and really anywhere from the cities I've eaten it in) they both tie for first place and this is definitely one of them. The food is always so fresh and just tastes amazing. No matter what you order off of their menu, it's going to be amazing to your taste buds, eyes, and wallet. Everything I've had from Edgar is amazing. From the chili reino, tacos, nachos, pineapple tamales, churros -- everything he has to offer is incredible. The prices are great for the items you are receiving and the staff is always super friendly. I've had many of my friends and family try Edgar's food and they are all so impressed by what he has to offer. Definitely love Wednesdays-Sundays a little bit more than other days cause we know we can find him out in front of Surf Brewery. I definitely recommend anyone who loves food that is made with a passion to give this place a try!

My roommate and I went to the Surf Brewery on both Friday and Saturday night! Both nights, as we were drinking amazing, hoppy deliciousness, we were devouring equally amazing, porky goodness in the form of Al Pastor tacos, an Al Pastor sope and an Al Pastor gordita! I've had really good Al Pastor before (I'm from the valley, I know good Mexican food), but what sets these geniuses apart from the rest of them is their tortillas! Holy hell... I've never had anything better! You can tell they take great care and pay special attention to detail when it comes to their tortillas! It's like a good sandwich, it's all about the bread! Of course, in this case, it's all about the tortilla! The Surf Brewery is only five minutes from my house and I will be visiting there often, so, with that being said, see you soon Escabeche Bistro!

Have had better street taco's, spices and tortillas were bland at best. More meat than a typical street, just was in-impressed.

This bright blue food truck has always caught my eye and I finally made it in for lunch. Being a food truck, the vibes are super casual and laid back. You place your order, then grab a seat at one of their picnic benches and soak up the sunshine. The staff were incredibly nice, and the sweet little touches like the handwritten note on the to go bag were just too cute. We love those kinds of vibes! Here's what I got: Single Smash Burger: A solid and delicious smash burger! The bun was pillowy soft, the patty had a nice crust, and I'm always a sucker for cheese, thin sliced lettuce, and a thousand island style sauce on a burger. No frills, just super satisfying and done right. Cosmo Fries: Honestly my favorite bite of the day! Loaded fries topped with cheese, onions, burger patty, and their pink sauce...absolutely insane. SO good. I loved the skinny fries they use, and since everything was made fresh to order, the fries stayed extra crispy even with all the toppings. My biggest regret is passing by this food truck for so long without stopping. That was genuinely a stellar smash burger and fries combo, with the added bonus of such friendly and welcoming staff. Next time you're walking around Downtown Ventura and want a casual outdoor bite, definitely make a stop at Cosmos Smash Burgers. (Located at the Channel Islands Juice Co. parking lot just fyi).

If you're sticking to asada or chicken, that's fine... more lengua and tripa for the rest of us. The lengua is tender and full of flavor, and the tripa is done right. Crispy, satisfying, and not chewy or weird. My tacos came pre-garnished with chopped onion and cilantro, which they confirm when you order. Appreciate the respect. And let's talk about the champurrado. So good, especially on a cooler evening. Comfort in a cup and the perfect post-taco sip. They also have other menu options like burritos, tortas, mulitas, and quesadillas if tacos aren't your thing (but honestly, get the tacos). They usually add sliced cucumbers and limes on the side, and you'll get one salsa by default, so if you like it saucy, just ask for more. The cashier was friendly, and they call out your number pretty quickly. This is a takeout, stand-on-the-sidewalk kind of spot and that's exactly how it should be. There are a couple tables and chairs if you want to eat on the fly. Street parking only. If you're craving legit street tacos and aren't afraid to order off the "non-basic" menu, this one's for you.

I'm very much a creature of habit, I know what I like and I stick very close to it, though I must say Yelp has helped me to venture out of my comfort zone on occasion and with good results. But I found myself at the BBQ truck, they had a special which came with baby back ribs, hot links, mac & cheese, baked beans, & what they called garlic bread. The baby backs were pretty spot on, packed with meat and tender to the bite, the Mac & Cheese was pretty terrific as well, but the garlic bread was truly just steamed sandwich rolls. Sandy ventured over to the cheese sandwich truck which never had a lull in business & got a plain cheese sandwich , she said it was delicious. My friend Maria got Chilaquiles from Maria's Mexican Kitchen truck, & one thing you have to know about me and Maria is for years our office would venture over every Thursday morning to the CMH cafeteria to get their famous Chilaquiles , so we have expect any Chilaquiles we have to either taste like those or to exceed our expectations While she said the were good, she wasn't that taken by them and ended up throwing them out.
