This was my first time camping solo. I was coming down to Escalante for some hiking and I chose this RV park because it seemed like it was safe as a solo female camper. I was tent camping and one thing to be aware of, is the lack of shade. Escalante is very hot in the summer, and as a novice camper I underestimated how difficult it is to camp in the heat. I had a dog with me so we had to hang out away from camp because it was just too hot at the campground. The bathrooms are clean and are great to have, especially after a day of hiking. They have a nice laundry facility too. The owner sent me messages reminding me that cell coverage is spotty in this area. I appreciated knowing this in advance. There were other families staying here, and for my two night camp, I felt very safe. I will for sure come back here again to camp- when it's a little bit cooler. Thanks for providing me with a great first solo camping experience!

Spider infestation and high pitch noise like a fingernail on a chalkboard all the time coming from the equipment making it impossible to sleep. Dirty coffee maker and no cups. Sink so small you can't even spit in it when you brush your teeth (see pic). Overpriced. Management says "It's the high desert. There will be bugs"

Breakfast scones... demolished and so delicious..

The owners of this site have put a lot of heart and soul into their business. Everything, and I mean everything is newly updated. The grounds are immaculate. The grounds are rustic, meaning rock, timber, desert-y! We stayed in a cabin and bedding, linens, towels are all new and fresh. Not a cobweb in site. They have swamp coolers in each cabin which do the job perfectly. They deliver a breakfast basket of goodies to the cabin each evening for the next morning. I think they might use a local bakery because the pastries in the basket were super delicious and fresh. One morning was apricot & cranberry scones... the next was chocolate chip ricotta muffin. They have a full showering area for tent campers equally clean. A play area for the littles... oh, and the stars at night are amazing! Lynette checked us in and was super helpful about eateries and the area too. Escalante Cabins and RV you have a wonderful place. Thank you for a great stay for the 2 nights....

Our beautiful and clean cabin! With a fire pit! :) cabin 29.

If you're super fit and want to do hikes, good for you as there's plenty of strenuous hikes! If you aren't as active or use a mobility assistive device, you can travel on the very, very scenic drive and also learn about the ghost town of Fruita (although the NPS employees live there). If you time your visit right, you can even pick fruits from the orchards. I combined the Rim Overlook trail with the trail to Hickman Bridge to get amazing views, as well as hiked the Cassidy Arch trail. The trails weren't too crowded, so it was a great place to listen to nature and focus on hiking. You're rewarded with amazing views. Definitely hit up Gifford Homestead for fruit pies. They often sell out in the afternoon.

I also was recommended to check out the Gifford Homestead where you can buy some EXCELLENT homemade pies and other goodies. I'm addicted to sugar so this was actually the highlight for me - the cinnamon roll, mixed berry and cherry pies that I bought were honestly some of the best pies I've had in my life. I had to eat them over the course of four days though since I was by myself and they are decently sizable (about the size of a large saucer/small dinner plate). As for the hikes - the arches were a bit strenuous but very doable in the span of a morning. Do beware that the trail is kind of hard to follow on the Cassidy arch trail - I got QUITE confused at one of the confluence areas of trails and ended up wasting a good 30 mins trying to figure out where I was/where the trail actually is. I saw a couple hikers coming down eventually and that's how I figured out where I was supposed to go. The Cassidy arch viewpoint is REALLY cool though, and of course the view of the vista at the arch itself is lovely. The Hickman bridge is also very impressive. I came on a random weekday in April and there were a handful of other hikers but really the trails were quite empty, and the trailhead lots had TONS of parking available, no issue. No traffic going in or out of the park either. The weather was decent; cloudy but wasn't rainy (it had been raining/sleeting just west of the park where my airbnb was though, so come prepared!). By the end of the grand wash hike in the early afternoon I was already getting pretty hot, and felt ready to move along on my NP road trip. Overall - if you're taking a tour of Utah I think it would be a travesty to miss this park, they're all incredible and unique in different ways!

If you have a light weight trailer around say a 16 footer, van, or simply tent camping you have little to worry about. Anything bigger, you must prepare to maneuver backing up in very tight space. The sites itself aren't too bad. It's the loop road and trees that can be challenging. I did see one pull through spot and there's possibly more but not much. Another thing to keep in mind are the fleas. If you have dogs, bring repellent. Notice posted warned fleas may carry diseases and may harm other animals or even cause death. Our site (A219) was surrounded by trees. Our solar panel was able to charge, but not sufficiently. It includes a firepit and a bench table. I don't recommend anything larger than a 22 foot trailer. We barely had any room to park my truck because parking on gravel is forbidden. Restrooms are heated during the cold hours. When I say cold, it's freezing cold. We stayed here on the first week of October of 2020. The sun started to heat our trailer by 2 to 3 PM. Overall, I enjoyed our stay. We very close to the Peek-a-boo and Navajo Trail. That was a plus. Our camp host was mellow and most of our neighbors were polite and respectful. However, I've seen a few who were the opposite. It's camping so I didn't let it ruin my experience. Also a warning. Dump station is not in this campground but potable water available at the restrooms. You can't directly connect a hose to your trailer because it is just too far from the road. Dump station is located near Sunrise Point where potable water is available. Ask the host or ranger if you have troubles finding it.

On top of that, the "amenities" that you are paying for with their high prices are not even available during the winter. No hot tub. No pool, (understandably of course). This review is basically only about their tent spots and their fees for them. I do not recommend this place for tent campers nor for van people. Especially during the winter months. I reserved a dry tent site for $50 after taxes. It had no picnic table so I had to steal the one from the very close by neighbor campsite because there is nothing between sites. I tried the faucet and realized why the website said dry. The restrooms and showers were well kept and very clean as others have said. I'll give them that. They have a laundry room, but 75% of the machines were not working. The basic tent campsites are next to a parking lot with very bright lights as well as by the road where you hear every vehicle. They have "glamping tent" spots that are nothing to brag about with no privacy between the adjacent lots. They need to charge a lot less for the tent spots. Both the "glamping" and the $40 basic. Especially during the winter months!! They don't even have a veteran's discount at this location. I should have just slept in my van by the side of the road and paid $10 for a shower here. Only good part is that I found a great Italian deli in town that made this stop worth it.

We were in a motorhome pulling a car hauler. We had a perfect spot even with the length of our rig. Our pull through was extremely easy to fit. The reservation process was easy. Staff finished our sign in then took my daughter over to her cabin as I set up RV (which was very helpful). Daughter was moving & pulling a 18ft U-Haul, but it fit right next to cabin in its own driveway. They are even installing new cabins right now. Daughter was in one of the older cabins, but you can see from the pictures there were great, for the price. We paid more for a cabin in Idaho & had to provide our own linens. Staff was very accommodating by putting daughter across from us. I saw where some one said there wasn't much grass, you are in the desert where saving water is extremely important. I was happy they had trees. I used the Parks showers & bathroom. It was clean, water was hot, showers worked great, plenty of water, & building was warm. We were very happy with prices, customer service, accommodations, & the wonderful dog park. Dog park gas a washing station to clean your dog after a long dusty or muddy hike (see photo). Our family will be back. Everything was close like a Walmart, gas stations, car wash that accommodated our motorhome, many many restaurants, etc... I highly recommend eating at Korean Bento & Thai Cuisine

We stayed at the North campground for three nights and then the overflow area for two. There are a few other camping areas as well, there is a south, and then at least two or three additional camping areas near by. I found them all when I got lost hiking around. The camp spots are not all created equal, some a far better then others, and without knowing the area first, you can't possibly know if your getting a quality spot. We reserved a space before we left. When we got there, we found that the place that we had reserved, did not have a flat space for a table next to the RV spot, we would have to hike up and down a little hill to get to a table every time we wanted anything. It just didn't work for our style of camping this time around. We spoke to the camps hosts and they let us switch spots to another open one with no problem. The next plot fit our requirements much better. Although its good to know that not all spots have a water spicket. Each lot does have a fire pit area with a flip style sort of grill, but no BBQ's. There are bathrooms, just toilets, the hand sinks don't work because they say they are trying to conserve water (although I just found that really odd, because I would just go to the spicket and wash my hands). The bathrooms are clean, and well maintained. Also, the lake was not very yielding. You had to throw back anything under 17", which was everything that was caught by my group. All in all, it was a fun, quiet place to go and I would recommend it to any outdoor lover. Next time I go, I will be tent camping and I will probably stay at the South campsite for that.
