They have several different rooms with varying levels of difficulty, which makes it fun whether you're new to escape rooms or you've done a bunch before. I've actually done all of their rooms, and I've genuinely liked every single one. Each room feels a little different, the puzzles are well thought out, and they're challenging without feeling impossible. It's clear a lot of effort went into the design and flow of the rooms. The staff has always been friendly and helpful as well, which makes the experience even better. This is a solid escape room set and we have been to this location before. My group started with Carter's Haberdashery which we haven't done. I liked how it felt immersive and had clear story telling. It was adventure themed and very fun. Then, we played Secret Society on whim and I would say that experience was 3/5. It was their oldest game and it showed. It was old school with a few key locks and a couple cool elements thrown in, so it was immersive but pretty easy for experienced players (we are now 2nd on the leader board having escaped with 30:13 minutes remaining) leaving you feeling a little unfulfilled. We came here for my besties birthday!! First things first we made an appointment over the phone. We also had to paid in advance. I had been bugging my bestie to go out for her birthday and we wanted to find something to include the kids. We weren't sure how helpful they would be but we were excited to try this location. The room we Escaped was called " cat burglar" so we all wore black and the kids wore kitty ears! The room was well decorated, and well thought out! We are escape room pros and they did a great job on the set up! Our kids range from 9 to 6 years old, they were timid at first because it was dark. But once we assured them noting was going to jump out at them they were all in. They found more clues than we did, it was very helpful to have them along! While we were working on certain clues they were finding new ones we hadn't seen. We did not have to wear a mask, I'm guessing because we were in a room to ourselves, i'm 100% positive they sanitize after we were done. Overall we really enjoyed this escape room!! My boyfriend has been telling me about the awesome reviews Escape Artists has gotten and we finally decided to take the drive and escape here. I am so happy we did because we had such a great time. Even though we got there a little late, the guy that helped us (sorry I forgot names) was super nice and welcoming. He immediately got us in the room and gave us instructions. The room itself, Protocol Zero, was incredible. The technology was super advanced, everything was connected and organized so well. It was a really well thought out room. We were able to escape, but we were not left confused as to how things worked, we knew exactly how everything worked and how everything was connected. This weekend we did the cat burgler and protocal zero both were great.I liked cat burgler better as it had a great story with many different types of puzzles every time you thought you solved it there was more. Protocal zero was a very cool story set in a outer space pod. It also had many types of puzzles. Both used some unique puzzles that used some really different techiques from lasers to battery operated car to battery operated cranes. Now, this was a great time! Parking - it was not too bad parked on the street and there were plenty of areas/spots to park. The experience was scheduled for 1:30, yes you have to rsvp. There was just two of us, however, I recommend at least 4 people to really enjoy the experience. The lady, I don't recall her name but she has a film tat on her right arm because she produces movies was excellent. She did an outstanding job with explaining and helping us, particularly since we were the hardest room and there was only two of us. I guess you could describe myself and my friends as "escape games enthusiasts." We love going to escape rooms together and discussing our opinions on them. There's one thing we all unanimously agree on--Escape Artists is the very best in Central Florida. I've played Rest Easy Motel once, and Cat Burglar twice--the only time so far that I've ever repeated an escape room. Rest Easy Motel is my absolute favorite escape room that I've ever played. Both of the current rooms at Escape Artists have plenty of space to comfortably fit a group of six. I played Rest Easy Motel with a group of five, and there was plenty for us all to stay occupied for the duration of the game. The theming in this room is also incredible... It is probably the most immersive of any game I've played; the setting felt very real. We've also had the pleasure of talking to the owners every time we've visited. One of the reasons why Escape Artists is so great is that it's not a franchise... Franchises aren't inherently bad, but Escape Artists is locally owned and run by the people who made it, and their passion shows in the quality of the games and the attention to detail. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I would recommend it to new players and long-time escape enthusiasts alike and I can't wait to play their future games. read more

I went here for my husband's birthday in October and we decided to do the Rest Easy Motel. I just want to go ahead and put it out there that we are no newbies to escape rooms. I have done A LOT and even wrote an article for Orlando magazine so I am always looking for something fresh and new and exciting. Well... I wasn't disappointed! Although this place currently only has two rooms and is tucked away in a quaint little spot in downtown Sanford, I was beyond impressed with how much work went into the room itself. So many challenging puzzles and stunning effects. Bravo! We escaped in good time and almost broke a record (darn it!) but I know I will be back again soon to try the other room out. The room was challenging but not impossible and had really cool puzzles. It seemed like each of had a chance to use our skills and we made it out in 44 minutes. Poor Communication My mother, daughter & sisters were very excited to try this escape room. I bought a Groupon for a 6 person room (cost $99) and scheduled a date and time (a Monday morning). Unfortunately, because of illness a few members of my family were unable to come with me on the day we planned. I called Escape Artist that morning and explained my situation. I knew it was last minute, so I asked if they thought it would still be worth trying the escape room if just me and my 13 year old daughter showed up. I was told that it would be difficult & that it would be better to have at least one or two more people. They were really nice, and explained to me that although it wasn't custom, they would make an exception for me to reschedule. I was SUPER excited that they were so kind and made an exception for me, despite their policy. I contacted the 4 members of my family and began to find a new date that would work for everyone. Finally, by the next evening (Tuesday) I was able to get a response from everyone and a new agreeable date that worked for everyone. Since Escape Artist was closed at that evening, I sent them an email. I then called them the next morning (Wednesday) and left a voice message. When I did not hear back, I sent another email. I then received a response from them stating, that they were sorry but they cannot reschedule our event. She stated that when we originally spoke it was two days earlier and she had expected to hear back from me that same day (Monday). Since it was two days later, they could no longer rescheduled for us, and advised that we should try to contact Groupon to resolve the situation. I was shocked when I received that email response. Since I already used (redeemed) my Groupon code on the Escape Artist online website for our original scheduled date, Escape Artist already received the $$ and I had no longer any value in the Groupon I have no addition funds to purchase another try for the escape room. I was very disappointed that I did not know that I had to call back THAT same Monday. I would rather have at least tried the escape room with just my daughter on our originally scheduled day, then lose the $99 to them altogether. Escape Artists seemed so friendly at first, I couldn't believe that this cold email response just 2 days later was from the same person. A couple of members of my family were so upset/sad for me, that they were going to call the Escape Artist and complain. I advised them not to, because ultimately I guess it was my misunderstanding that caused the problem. Again, I just wish that Escape Artist would have explained to me that if I was going to reschedule that I would have to call back that same day (Monday). That way I could have at least given the escape room a try with my daughter, even if it would have been hard. This is the first review that I've ever left anyone. My suggestion is, that if you speak to Escape Artists regarding any unique situation, that you make sure you fully understand what they are telling you. read more

I don't usually write reviews... but this place is amazing! Second time me and my girlfriend have been here and the second time was just as good as the first! We did protocol 0 the first time and it has a spaceship feel with a twist. And secret society most recently, a Spooky testing lad with a Ancient secret. Both rooms were great and tested us mentally as a team. The Game masters could have not been more friendly and helping us out at the perfect time, without giving anything away to easily. Phenomenal! I have now visited 6 different Escape Game companies & the best Escape Room I have played is the Rest Easy Motel. Typical 60min to escape with 3 clues receiving no time penalty. They do give "fun" clues that they say the majority of ppl require. My group counted the fun clue as an actual clue to make it more difficult for us. A wonderful combination of searching, using dexterity, "puns" & having to be wary of how to proceed in a room without hindering your progress made for an enjoyable game. None of the puzzles are exceptionally difficult & the flow is smooth & gratifying. Scenery is eerie & makes you feel immersed in the story of the missing guests. This Escape room is a must for any escape-fiend. I don't recommend it to be the first game you attempt as it will set the bar way too high! I would recommend doing Cat Burgler first. They give you a code for a $3 discount if you return to a second room. I was a little disappointed that we were given the incorrect code & when we returned the second time having already booked the room they did not give us the $3/person refund. They are also opening a 3rd room with an Alien theme at the end of August 2017. read more

I would definitely recommend this to anyone. I've done one other Escape room prior and thought this one was top notch. The theming was amazing, attention to detail, and the puzzles were great. The puzzles just kept going. We didn't Escape in time but were given extra clues and time to escape since nobody booked after us. There is so much depth to this place. After doing the one I previously did we researched and found that Escape rooms are mostly big chains. These folks are doing their own thing and doing it well above the norm. Everything was in nice shape like a nice little movie set. The staff was friendly and engaging. They were focused on the customer. The only downside would be since there's only two rooms you may have to share with others if you don't book all six spots for your time slot. We were lucky and did it by ourselves. Frankly you'll need the help, though. We did Rest Easy Motel. I can't wait to try Cat Burglar. read more

This place came highly recommended in the Escape Enthusiasts Facebook group, and I drove an hour out of the way to come here, and was not disappointed. We played both the CAT BURGLAR and the REST EASY MOTEL back to back, as our 58th and 59th escape games played, and had a great time! The owners are super friendly and created really great puzzles that were challenging but not impossible. High tech as well. I've been kind of Back and Forth with Escape Artist in the past year and a half, because we've have good experiences & bad experiences. At this point, we have completed all 3 of their rooms, so I am prepared to give a full review based on our experience in all their rooms (until their 4th room opens later this year). Spoiler free room reviews: Cat Burglar (5*): Our very first ever escape room. This room was excellent. It was the room that sparked our love of escape rooms, and to this day it ranks #7 in our list of favorite rooms. Many different kinds of puzzles, and lots of cool interactive pieces. Highly recommend. Our Game Master for this room was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Rest Easy (1*): Months after we started, we got our friends and family into escape rooms too, and of course we always bragged about how awesome Escape Artists was. We finally got the whole family together to try Rest Easy Hotel, and honestly, I was shocked with how much I hated this room. Honestly, very early in the room there is a task that is 100% out of theme and makes no sense to the story line, and unfortunately wastes ALOT of unnecessary time. That task put our entire group in a bad mood moving forward, so when a couple other (more frustrating) tasks came up, we were already in a cruddy mood, and thus got put in an even worse mood by the new frustrating tasks. It also didn't help that our Game Master was in a cruddy mood and seemed like she didn't want to be there that day, and it came across in the way she talked to us. Looking back, we really feel like, if that 1 out of context task had been switched to something that fit the theme better, and didn't waste so much time, AND our Game Master wasn't giving off so much negative energy, then the other 2 frustrating tasks probably wouldn't have bothered us as much, and we probably wouldn't have ended up hating this room so much. Protocol Zero (5*): It has been a few months since the "Rest Easy Motel Incident", and we finally were willing to give them another chance, especially since I've heard good things about their new Protocol Zero room. Right off the bat we noticed that our Game Master was incredibly friendly and very engaging, helping us to actually be excited for the room, which helps a lot. This room was great. The scenery is awesome, the puzzles are fun, and there are quite a few tasks that are just plain Fun to perform. After escaping, we ended up chatting with the 2 employees on hand for at least a good 1/2 an hour. Both of them were awesome. We discussed different rooms we had all done and what types of puzzles were our favorites. They listened when we explained what we disliked about the Rest Easy room, and they both indicated that they understood where we were coming from. They told us about the new room opening this year, and all in all, had us leaving the property in an awesome mood. In the end, I am glad we went back and gave them another try after Rest Easy Hotel, because Protocol Zero ended up being my favorite room at this business. All together the average * rating for their rooms would be 3.6, but I'm pumping it to 4, because of the new staff, they were great! read more
