AMAZING escape room! Background: before this, my husband had done 4 escape rooms, I'd done 2, both with him, and my parents had never done it. We did the Jazz Room. The storyline was excellent and from start to finish, the building was immersive. Props and decor were top-notch and plentiful. I really appreciate that the clues had difficulty without being too much of a stretch to be realistic or discoverable. There were red herring props to trip you up or waste time. The game master was helpful when needed but he didn't overstep when we were on the cusp of a discovery. This is definitely THE BEST escape room I've ever done! I would highly recommend it and next time I'm in NOLA I'm coming back to do another. Hands down the most immersive Escape Room place I've ever been to. Their whole building on the inside is decorated so intricately to fit the theme of DeLaporte Mansion, from the mud room to the waiting room, to the hallway, it honestly made me wonder if the interior designer worked at Disneyland or something. For my first Escape Room experience, I am truly impressed. Midge was the best host!! From the time we entered the facilities, we had to be in Character. I won't spoil the experiment by describing what all goes on. Our group escaped from the Jazz Parlor. Upon researching the venue, they listed their completion statistics, and I chose the room with the highest rate to give our group the best chance of success. If you're looking for more of a challenge then choose a room with a lower rate of success. There is a room where you're immersed in complete darkness for 30 minutes so you'll have to be much better at communicating. It was great that our group of 8 people knew each other and made it easier to work together. Midge also provided additional clues and some hints along to way. It was such a fun way to spend Valentine's Day instead of going out to eat. This place is great for couples, or friends, and even tourists looking for activities to do in and around New Orleans. Didnt know WHAT to expect. It was fun that way and we're anxious to go again. Its next to a delicious Japanese restaurant that we loved so its fun to do both in one day. Next time we come to NOLA we'll go back! The inventor's attic was really a BLAST! We struggled at first with a clue that was hard to read and as we left we did a scavenger hunt in the lobby but some of the clues were missing. That was literally the only hiccups. We had a TON of fun playing around with the other clues and puzzles and Wren, our helper in the intercom wings, was always there to help too when we got stuck. There were 3 of us and we did a "divide and conquer" technique until we got to clues that needed more brain power or "you read that while I do this"-ing. Just as everyone else said, this place is awesome. My partner and I have done about 20 escape rooms. He agreed that this place is the most unique one we have ever been to! We did "Mardi Gras" and "Inventor's Attic." We brought my Dad, who has never done an escape room before, and this was a great experience for him. He had a good time and the puzzles were not over the top to the point that he had no idea what was going on. Very family friendly but challenging in a fun way. UNIQUE and not "commercial." You can tell this business takes pride in their work. Many of the puzzles I have not seen done in any other escape room and much of what you see is "homemade" which I LOVE!!! From start to finish, you are immersed in this experience. I had so much fun. This was the highlight of our trip to New Orleans (we have been coming every year for over 15 years, sometimes multiple times a year for special events) and I love supporting the local business. The creativity and passion of the owners and game masters blew me away; but, I would expect nothing less in New Orleans. We will certainly be doing the remaining 2 rooms during our next visit to New Orleans. Highly recommend! HEALTH & SAFETY The attention to safety and health was also very much appreciated during this challenging time for everyone. Very easy to find, clearly marked entrance, and in a quiet part of the Central Business District (aka "downtown") not too far from the French Quarter. It is near Magazine St (Decatur turns into Magazine when you cross Canal). The staff does an amazing job of making the environment realistic, the scenarios creative, and all the puzzles and props true to theme. The puzzles were also difficult enough to keep us on our toes, but we manage to escape the room with about 15 minutes left! I came here with a group of 5 people on a Saturday night. We did the Mardi Gras Study room. We were running late 5 minutes but the staff were very nice and were fine with it. I've done Escape the Room in NYC and it doesn't even compare. The host, the ambiance, and the rooms were so elaborate. The host Antoinette was very helpful and gave unlimited hints which was great. Without giving too much away, there was a well thought out story and so many crazy surprises. It was the most fun I've ever had in an Escape the Room. I did Smuggler's Den, Inventor's Attic, and Jazz Parlor. They were my 71, 72, and 73rd escape rooms, respectively. I can't say these were the best rooms I have ever done (that honor belongs to a room in Amsterdam), but they were pretty close. They are definitely must-do's if you are an enthusiast and live in the United States. The thing Escape My Room does better than any other room is create an atmosphere where everything fits together as part of a broader story. From how you enter, to what you do in the sitting room while you wait, to orientation, to the walk to the room, to the room itself, and the photos at the end--everything flowed seamlessly. It's as immersive as it gets. The rooms themselves were almost flawless. There was very little I would do differently, and even those would come down to preference and not necessarily make the rooms any better. The rooms are non-linear for the most part, but you always know what you should be doing even if it takes you some time to figure out how to do it. And there are several a-ha moments (always a good thing). I prefer them in reverse order of the way we did them--the rooms kept getting better. Five full stars easy. PS. Seriously, these escape rooms have been putting the ones in California to some serious shame. You are fully immersed in the game upon your arrival. The game masters stay in role the entire time and are so creative in presenting the overall rules. They have little games that you can play while you wait in the lobby and the fact that all the rooms relate back to a main storyline around the DeLaporte family makes it even more unique. You can even dress up and get into character yourself! Smuggler's Den is in the dark and definitely provides an entirely different experience as you feel your way through the room and solve puzzles. Probably not great if you're afraid of the dark or a little claustrophobic. I would recommend a smaller group for this one just so your not bumping into each other. Inventor's attic was superb, nonlinear, and had plenty of tech marvels. The quality and execution of the rooms were on point and there was at least one mind blowing reveal. A few glitches here and there but nothing that derailed the game. Would love to come back and try other rooms although these two were said to be the most challenging. read more

Easily one of the best escape rooms I've escaped from and I've escaped from plenty ;) I'm from CA and I thought it'd be fun to do a new escape room in a new city. I did quick a yelp search and fell in love with this place. It's one of the few rooms I've seen that had such a compelling theme. The entire escape room(s) share a central backstory and Escape My Room has done a fantastic job in making sure their guest feel immersed in the story. If you're in New Orleans looking for a room to do then I highly recommend checking this place out. Why? Rooms Played: I did both the inventor's attic and smuggler's den which were the two hardest room to date and our group size is 6 people. Puzzles: (5/5) They did a good job of balancing between finding clues/objects and logic puzzles. In addition, they did a great job in spreading the puzzles out so that simultaneous groups can do puzzles and it's not linear. This is super important for larger groups so that everyone can actively participate. Production Value: (5/5) From the lobby to the actual escape room, everything was so well themed. I felt like I got transported to another time and world. They even let you wear costumes to feel like you're a part of the story! From start to finish, you'll feel like you're a part of the story. Great escape room experience. The location is in a commercial area of NOLA that I was very comfortable in. The staff all wear masks, and all players are required to. Registration is touchless (on your own phone). Also (at this time) all bookings are private, so you aren't mixed with any other groups. As far as the experience - it's fantastic. The theming is like nothing I've seen. From the minute you walk in the door you are immersed. From the time you walk in you are in the family mansion and the theming never breaks. The room itself is so well decorated, with real decor (no wallpaper backdrops) and genuine puzzles rather than electronic locks, etc. It's obvious a lot of time and effort went into this and it's well worth it. Also - the staff takes a photo at the end (touch free and socially distanced) that they send you via email or text - nice little bonus! Definitely recommend! read more

You get in a mystery/creepy/murder theme the moment you walk in until you've exited the room. I love the option of costumes to wear during your experience. This place is a wild ride. Great decor and room redesign. I would recommend at least 3 or 4 people because we only had two and it gets to be just too much for for the two of us To accomplish at the same time. My only sour point is the wait to be seen.We showed up early to our appointment because of bad weather. We sat in the entryway for 40 minutes before anyone from the staff spoke to us. It was ten minutes past our scheduled start time before we saw anyone. We were about to leave because we hadn't seen anyone and had no way to communicate with the staff. We feel pretty duped. And confused. We are a team of 5 escape room enthusiasts who traveled from California to New Orleans to play some awesome escape rooms (thankfully, these were just "extra" escape rooms that's came highly recommended and not the actual reason for our trip). We booked Inventor's Attic & Jazz Parlor back to back. These were my 79th and 80th rooms. We arrived early and like everyone says, the lobby is quite impressive. From the moment you walk in, the experience is immersive. Escape, maybe a little... too immersive? It was really fun right from the get go, until we were left for 30 minutes to wander around and solve puzzles, which we were doing until we accidentally wandered into the beginning of one of their escape rooms. We had no idea, since we had been solving puzzles in the other lobby rooms as well. We were in there for like 10 minutes before someone came over a loud speaker and chastised us for being in that room. Like WTF we didn't know we were doing anything wrong- and there is obviously a better way to tell us. We don't need to be scolded like were are in elementary school. A simple sign on the door or warning from the employee who told us to look around and explore would have stopped this from ever happening. We've accidentally broken things in rooms before (not often, we are respectful players) and had employees laugh it off- so this made no sense & was just unnecessary. So this obviously put a damper on our experience, but we shake it off and start The Inventor's Attic. It's a pretty tight room for 5 people (especially in the beginning) but we made it work. Ultimately this was an okay room, but nothing special for sure and fairly easy. We escaped in 48 minutes with zero hints. At one point I found myself sitting in a spare chair in the corner with nothing to do- so that's never a good sign. Overall it was fun and we decided that even though it wasn't "amazing" it was a fun room. Next we did the Jazz Parlor. Apparently this room is so popular they have TWO identical rooms at this location? This game was a mess and we didn't like it at all. It was very linear and the story didn't even make sense. Often times we solved something and didn't even know we had solved it. Then we would ask for a hint and she would tell us to look for the thing that we missed that we had already solved. We felt confused for most of the room and didn't enjoy the logic leaps or the storyline. I wouldn't recommend this room for enthusiasts or beginners. We managed to make it out of this room with time to spare, but we really struggled though it. Also not enough things for 5 people to do. Jazz Parlor made Inventor's Attic seem even better, when we compared the two. We spent the rest of the night talking though the rooms and we still don't understand how they are so highly rated. Not enough puzzles for five people to do, disjointed stories, very basic escape rooms. I mean I know we are spoiled with some of the best rooms in Los Angeles, but we're traveled quite a bit for escape rooms and never have we felt so lead astray by rooms that came so highly recommended. Our group was looking for an activity during the afternoon to kill some time during our long weekend trip to New Orleans and we stumbled upon Escape My Room, and i'm so glad we did!!! Compared to the ones in NYC, this one is way more well done. Even the first room you enter when you go into the building is fully decorated, on theme, and part of the whole experience (I won't give away anything, it's a cute welcome!). After you enter the main lobby, you're free to look around and put on a costume if you'd like - they have a huge chest of clothing and a rack full of hats. This place is hugeeee by the way! We did the mardi gras themed room since we only had 4 people (the other Jazz room is harder I believe), but we still managed to make it out in the nick of time! Their puzzles are very creative (lots of variations on types too), very well thought out, and I love how the storyline behind it. As with most escape the rooms, there are also multiple rooms to explore during your hour there. At the very end, you get to take a cute picture that they automatically post onto their FB page. If you get a chance to, definitely swing by the DeLaporte residence and help them solve some mysteries! We completed the inventors attic with 2 players with about 1:30 mins leftover. I really enjoyed this room thoroughly! Having done upwards of 30-40 rooms now, I can safely say this is one of my favorites. I would recommend this to beginners and enthusiasts alike. One unique feature is the instant immersion factor the moment you walk in. From the beginning, our game master Jax did an amazing job staying in character to explain the story line and the rules. There was a clear objective and the puzzles completed made sense. DIFFICULTY: 3.5/5 I think this would have been closer to 3 for enthusiasts if we had 1 more person. For 2 beginners, it would've been closer to 4/5. I recommend 3 people at most for enthusiasts and 5 at most for beginners. The max is 8 but I feel that would be way too crowded And not enough puzzles for everyone to solve QUALITY OF PUZZLES: 4/5 Very little locks! Lots of tech. Everything worked as it should without glitches. Every puzzle was interesting although almost none of them were novel to us. There was one piece of equipment that I've never seen used before so that was cool! My only critique is that I hate reading too many words. GAMEMASTER: 5/5 sometimes a game master can make or break your experience but in this case Jax did everything perfectly.Gave us just the right amount of push and was certainly attentive. Whimsical production value, strong puzzle design, all with an immersive theme. We did all three rooms at Escape My Room NOLA across two visits and this facility is Chris' NOLA Pick. This is a family-run business, which means limited manning, which means mandatory online scheduling to get in the door. However, pre-booking is completely worth it for the entry experience you get (we won't spoil it). Then, once on location we were able to book a second room in a row. While several Escape Rooms we have visited have nice lobbies with a few puzzles or riddles laying around, this "lobby" takes the cake. Several rooms are fully furnished with all sorts of interesting items, and you can take part in a scavenger hunt puzzle for a sweet prize. Gets you all warmed up for your room! As usual, we did every room, just the two of us. Another unique and whimsical aspect of Escape My Room was that all three rooms were connected by a common storyline surrounding the DeLaporte Family. We were successful in two of three rooms, escaping Mardi Gras Study and Jazz Parlor, but stumped by Inventor's Attic. You could enjoy any of the three rooms with a small group, and we would recommend more than two for the Inventor's Attic, though a very escape savvy pair could pull it off. Every room is family friendly and has solid puzzle design. Our host, Nance, was a delight and we really appreciate her working with us to get us into all three rooms. One small note is that there is only one game clock, so if you have multiple rooms, you'll need to keep an eye on it. This is one of the most immersive, well-done escape rooms that I have done (and I have done 25+). From the second you walk in and the phone rings, you are in for surprises! Loved the opening, loved the family history, loved getting to dress up! We did the Jazz Parlor and it was hard with only two people, but our gamemaster was great at giving us clues to help us get thru. The story was good and the puzzles were not your standard lock-and-key. We completed Inventors Attic and id suggest this to any player new or experienced. The theming and experience design is top 5 in the US and there are plenty of puzzles for a group of 4-5. I wouldn't suggest 6 due to limited space. I also wouldn't suggest more than 3 unless you are all very experienced players. We came for my birthday and were a team of 4. From the very beginning, everything was laid out to get you in the spirit of solving the mystery. We did the Jazz Parlor room and our guide was Miss Tree. She was hilarious! She would ask if we wanted a hint before offering them which I really appreciated. And she kept us laughing the entire time. The room itself was well-thought-out and required some more problem solving than the room I had done previously at another escape room. Escape My Room - Hallway in common areas! - Escape Games Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

Right when you walk through the door, you're immersed in a New Orleans-style escape room experience. Inventor's Attic - The puzzles in this room were technologically interesting. The set was well-done and I enjoyed walking through the inventor's story. Each room was distinct and followed a good progression. Probably my favorite of the rooms offered at Escape My Room. 8.5/10 because the puzzles and story were pretty cool. Smuggler's Den - The puzzles in this room were novel in that you're plunged into complete darkness for at least half of it. It's a pretty cool concept, but I wish the story was a little stronger. A lot of it was sort of find and seek, which is expected given the overall concept of the room, but it was definitely enjoyable. 7.5/10, mainly due to the novelty. Jazz Parlor - Fairly standard puzzles, including some amount of searching for hidden objects. The storyline was decent, but probably could have been weaved a little better into the room--essentially, I thought that the solution to the meta puzzle should have mattered a bit more. 7/10 because the room was solid, but the searching didn't add much to the experience. Mardis Gras Study - While this room is actually older than Jazz Parlor, the story is a nice follow-up. The puzzles were also fairly standard, but I found the set and story to be more interesting than Jazz Parlor, despite being a bit lower tech. 7.5/10 read more
