I really wanted to like this place. I came here 1/26/17 for a fill with Tommy. Everything went smoothly but I was a little shocked that a fill was $33 minus the $3 for my broken nail. However, being that it was my first time here I paid and went on my way. I scheduled another appt for a full set on 3/1/17 with Tommy again. I arrive for my appointment and they tell me to come back..Tommy isn't ready, he is still with the previous client... Which was frustrating because I scheduled an appt to avoid this exact issue. However, I did not have time so I scheduled another appt for the next day. I come back THE NEXT DAY on 3/2/17 and Tommy IS AGAIN WITH THE PREVIOUS CLIENT.. The woman at the front tells me he is almost done... I look over and he is no where near done! So I proceed to wait for over 30 MINUTES PAST my appt time and he is still not done.. While I was waiting I noticed their prices. They charge $30 for a full set gel and $20 for a fill for gel.... I then realized I was charged $30 for my fill the first time I came. They charged me for a full set when I only got a fill.... So with being overcharged and them having ZERO REGARD for my appt time on BOTH DAYS.. I walked out.. they will never have my business again.. read more

I came to get waxing done and they did not have a separate room for it. I was sat in the middle of the shop in a regular chair getting my brows, lip and chin waxed. The woman rushed through it and was rude as was the person at the front desk. Never again. read more

I went in last week to get shellac removed and a new set of gel put on. my shellac was a nude color and she used the drill to remove it, Of course didn't get it all so you can see it showing through still in spots. Also have a lot of little air bubbles. All the techs that didn't have clients were eating corn on the cob at their stations which I think is absolutely the most disgusting thing. I didn't enjoy the girl next to me squirting me, talking with her mouth full or having to listen to them all chop. read more

Today was my first visit. It was calming and relaxing. The gentleman that did my pedicure and manicure told me the cost before he started. It was a good experience, even though a few things could be better. Cost wise not bad at all. I wouldn't get shellac again I will stick to my gel nails. read more

Truly wish I could get back every dime I ever spent here. My last experience was one in which I booked 10 mani/pedis for a bridal party. Do the math on that to figure out how much business I brought in just on one appointment. I was the last girl of my group to sit down on principle and by the time someone finally sat down to help me (they did not bother honoring our appointment even though we were promised that would be the case so of course people were in the chairs just having started when we walked in), he abruptly stopped and said he had an appointment. Um, what?! So did I and I had been there for over an hour. No one was sent over to continue the work so I actually started having to do it myself so that I would be able to leave on time to make it to the rehearsal. By the time the owner walked over to apologize, my only offer was a shitty, rushed manicure. That I still had to pay for. Despicable. Not to mention the place is usually only halfway clean and bordering on unsanitary. Spend your money elsewhere, Kzoo!!! read more

I've come to this place many times to get my nails done and was always pleased. This time I went in to get a pedicure and I was EXTREMELY disappointed! I haven't had a pedicure in awhile so I thought I'd get the deluxe pedicure in hopes that it would make my feet feel more smooth. Throughout the whole pedicure I could feel my dry skin as it was soaking in the water. I kept telling the technician that my feet did not feel smooth. He only used the scrubbing sponge and not the metal thing that shaves the dead skin off. He lied to me and told me he already used the metal thing but then got up a few minutes later to get one!! And he barley even used it! I have gotten MANY MANY pedicures in the past and I know what my feet are supposed to feel like afterwards and my feet feel nothing like that! My feet don't feel better at all! I am VERY VERY disappointed and I will not come back to this salon again! read more

I am relatively new to the Kalamazoo area and I had no idea where to go for a pedicure. After reading the previous reviews for this nail salon, I decided to give Escape a try. My sister and I went last week to get pedis before our Spring Break trips. We made an appointment at the beginning of the week for 6 PM on the following Thursday. When we arrived for our appointments we had to wait. I was thinking 5 minutes or so... 30 minutes went by and we finally got our seats. The warm foot bath and massaging chair were nice and I was starting to feel a little better about the experience, but then came the massaging of my calves. They used a pleasant citrus scrub on my legs and next they massage with oil - my sister's nail tech handed my male tech a bottle and he started squirting it all over my calf. It burned! I quick told him and he realized it wasn't the oil at all, IT WAS TOP COAT! This male tech has been doing pedis for years and he didn't realize before he put the goo on my leg that it not only wasn't the right consistency but it wasn't even the same color as the oil! The oil was purple (I found this out after he grabbed the right bottle) and the oil was waaaaaaay thinner. He put the top coat on and actually started rubbing it before rinsing it off, but it was too late. The top coat dried on my leg and had to be removed with acetone nail polish remover! At this point my leg was bright red and just totally raw from all the scrubbing and burning liquids. It was awful. My sister had better luck, but because her nail tech was so distracted by my experience, she did a terrible job on my sister's nails. I understand it was an accident. They should either put the top coat in a different bottle than the oil or label them or something! I would hate for this to happen to someone else! Needless to say, the pedi was "on the house" and I will not be returning! read more

Terrible customer service, only friendly person is the receptionist. Subpar services, couldn't get my shape right and my nails were extremely thick. Tech had an attitude about my design and said they couldn't do it at all. read more

I had a pedicure and was very pleased with it. The place is cleaned, they cover the pedicure bowl with a plastic wrap that is changed with each customer, which is nice. Friendly staff, good prices. read more

I looked at previous reviews and decided to make an appointment for a pedicure. I must have gotten a staff member who was inexperienced. She didn't pay attention to my feet at all and massaged one leg the entire time. She also was more interested in everything else going on in the salon and was looking around the entire time. I kept thinking she would get to the other parts of the actual pedicure but she never did. I left with dry heels and an ok paint job. I will never go back there again!!! read more

When I moved to Kalamazoo I tried several different nail salons. This one is closest to my home but I initially wasn't impressed with the service. However, I found that the other salons in the area provided much poorer quality work - the nails would fall apart after a week, the designs were wretched, the atmosphere was uncomfortable - so I kept revisiting this salon. Over the last 4 years I'm happy to say I've seen a marked improvement in both the quality of the work and the skill of the employees. I always see Nicole (the owner) or someone she specifically sets me up with. As a regular - she is willing to schedule me prior to the salon opening, which means I get prompt service and attention. I do occasionally have to schedule a later appt but I'm always seen very close to my appt time. They have recently updated their interior and massage chairs - which are working wonderfully now. Hit or miss. I've been there 4-5 times now, and received a great manicure once. I won't go back after my last experience. The manicurist left two cuticles bleeding, and another one barely touched. My nails were uneven and not properly shaped. Despite being completely finished in less than 15 minutes (I get only a buff, no polish), he took a cell phone call in the middle of my manicure. I understood being asked to move for the brow wax, but being told I was in the way and had to move in the middle of the process seems rude to me. I'm very polite, and I've always tipped well. AWFUL! If you have gel nails... do not go there! The selection of colors is very limited and a cheap brand as well. My nails chipped within 5 days. In all my years I have never had gel nails chip on me. For $52 it was the worst!!! read more

So, I have been a patron about 5times a year for the last few years. Today I went in with a friend and we asked for two pedicures. We selected our colors and then we were told to wait so "we could sit together", nice, we thought. Then, manicurists after manicurists finished and then proceeded to sit and lounge. Huh? Finally, we were directed to the back to a chair. An older Asian woman and an older Asian man were assigned to us. I've had manicures from them both and they were both sub-par. The man assigned to me didn't even finish my pedi. He gestured another lady over to finish. She just shook her head as she retrimmed and polished. SO, if you are not a regular be prepared to be assigned to the people nobody else wants. I WILL NOT BE BACK AGAIN. read more

I visited this business about a month ago & I'm still dealing with a problem. Apparently they hit something at the bottom of my nail because I now have a dark red area growing up from the bottom of the cuticle. I went in to show them the issue after I got back from my trip & they said that it wasn't their fault & offered no answers or help!! I won't be visiting this business ever again. read more

So disappointed! Horrible service and ridiculous wait. The worst part is, none of the staff seemed to care. I understand there is a wait if it's crowded; but this place is a hot mess - a receptionist that was so not only unfriendly but rude and completely disorganized. A stream of customers walked in, and were promptly ignored. How hard is it to greet customers and say hello!? People were WALKING OUT in disgust. I was happy to be sent back to the pedicure chair, only to sit with my feet in still water for 30 minutes with no technician in sight. I finally asked an employee how much longer because 4 other new people were seated in chairs, and their pedicures were started and I was still sitting with my feet in tepid water. The receptionist was mouthy and arguing with the nail techs. A male employee finally prompted someone and said I had been waiting. The nail tech did a very nice job which is the good part! I felt bad that she had to apologize for the disorganization and rude receptionist. When my pedicure was done, there was no seating up front where you typically sit to have your nails dry under the light/fan. Customers waiting were taking up the seating She told me, "you can't dry your nails." I and thought, and I can also never have to endure this place again - because I won't be back. So bummed! The absolute worst set of nails I have ever had done and I had my nails done for 10 years. I showed the nail tech 6 pictures of the shape and length I wanted and told her no underfiling. She did not do one thing I wanted-the length is too long, the shape is completely square, and she started underfiling which I had to stop her and have her add more acrylic because she sawed off the corners. She was also very rude saying "most people like a NATURAL look" when what I asked for was very short, natural crescent shaped nails with a french manicure. Apparently this isn't natural and she did whatever she felt like doing. I look like I'm 15 and got my first set of nails done at the mall for prom. I literally cried in my car. They are hideous and I am embarrassed that I have to wear these to a very important even tonight. I will NEVER return there. A free bottle of water doesn't make up for the slap a set on, grind them down, and get the customer out mentality. Appalled. read more
