Tried out escape pilates for the first time this morning! I took a class with Emily and she was great. I loved the reformers, the pace of the class, and the music. Emily also explained each movement in a way that was easy to understand and follow. I appreciated that although i'm newer to pilates, I never felt out of place or behind. I felt like we were all at different fitness levels and there was a comfortability and encouragement in that. The studio itself was cool, it was in a garage style space. It was nice to have the garage door open to get that fresh air and breeze. There was also lots of parking which was nice! I also appreciated that they had a reformer machine in the front in case people needed to learn how to use it. Thanks Emily! read more

Escape Pilates...what can I say...I'm in love already! Such a cool spot and I love that the garage door is open for some fresh air. I intentionally booked a class with Sol because I heard so many good things about her. Wow she did not disappoint. I already booked my next class with her. Good quality machines and equipment. The machines aren't too close to each other and there is a cubby space at each spot where you place your items in. 10/10 highly recommend I can see myself coming here a lot in the future. My friend invited me as her guest (twice) to try pilates and I really enjoyed my experience. Escape Pilates has an inviting atmosphere and my class with Riley truly stood out. She was welcoming and her friendliness immediately put me at ease, creating a supportive environment (especially for a beginner like me).  Her instructions were clear and easy to follow, she also moves around the room and helps with form and offers adjustments. I can feel how much pilates engages my core and other muscles, I was definitely feeling it the next day!! Found this studio off of Classpass and have taken soooo many classes here. It's probably my FAVORITE of the many studios I've sampled. It's my favorite because: Easy parking Lots of space between the ~10 reformers Caliber of instructor seems high amongst the whole staff (good cueing, good work out, good timing) Good variety (levels as well as stretch, jumpboard, etc). My favorite instructors are Angie and Francesca. Francesca used to be/is (?) a F45 instructor so I like that her classes feel similar to traditional strength training to me. I just want to take a moment to express how much of a gem this place is. I've been taking pilates here for about a year now and I love everything about it. Attending classes here has been an amazing outlet for me to unwind and destress. I usually take class from Sol and Jolene and I really love their teaching styles and the way they structure their classes! This was my first ever Pilates class & I am so grateful I had Riley! She was extremely sweet, personable, & encouraging. I had no idea what I was doing & her patience, willingness to help, & ability to stay on course with the rest of the class made her such an amazing teacher. Definitely broke a sweat! The studio itself was spotless & spacious. At the end of our session, she gave everyone 2 disinfecting wipes to clean our area which was a nice touch. I came on a clear night, & the view from the back of the studio made it super beautiful & peaceful. Such an amazing experience for someone who is completely green & has heard a lot of negative stigmas about people starting out Pilates. I love escape Pilates! I had never tried Pilates before stumbling into Escape, and the team was so patient in showing me the ropes (pun intended). A year later and they're still kicking my butt.... In a good way. The studio is perfect. Equipment is all in great shape, space is clean, and the garage opens up which is especially nice in the mornings. The team is even better. I have done pilates before, but I have never done it on a reformer machine. When I first walked in, it was a smaller room, but they made it to be a fun environment with the lights, music, and had the garage door open. I was nervous, as pilates is a very white people thing, and I def stood out as the only brown girl, but the instructor was super kind and helped show me how to work the machine before class started. We used all sorts of extra materials, balls, a circle thing, and straps. I LOVED it and will be back!! read more

Great studio! Located on 17th street in the same strip mall as Pancakes R Us. Able to host larger class sizes because they have so many reformers. Love that each reformer is stocked with its own cubby where you can place your belongings, along with a mini trash can, hand sanitizer, and a box of accessories for your workout, including pillows! Instructors vary and each have their own style - I've never felt like I've had the same workout twice! Definitely sweat more at this studio than others, particularly for an all-reformer workout. If you're newer to Pilates, this may not be the place for you - the workouts are definitely designed with experience and challenge in mind. I'm not sure if they offer privates, but if so, this may be a better way to go if you're just starting out. read more

I LOVE Escape Pilates! I took Solana's class for the first time and absolutely loved it! Some of the exercise can be challenging but she always provides an alternative. She is very motivating throughout class and clear with her instructions. She heavily focuses on form to keep everyone safe. I appreciate how she takes the last 2 minutes of class to provide a breathing exercise and speaks from the heart when doing so. If you're a first timer, I highly recommend her class! well HELLO arm muscles... it's nice of you to finally make an appearance on this body. for real, where the hell have you been hiding out all these years?? who knew all you needed was a few months of once-a-week classes at escape pilates? i bought a groupon for group reformer classes at escape just to see what this pilates thing was about. that was over a year ago, and i've been hooked ever since... pilates on the reformer keeps it interesting and challenging, and the variety of exercises is endless. it's even mind-calming and FUN! the studio is very soothing -- very clean, and no overwhelming stinky perfume/air freshener smells (i HATE this in general but especially when working out). most instructors will really set the mood for a focused yet relaxing workout by softening the lights, opening the doors to get a nice breeze, and turning on some tunes. and what a workout it is... i often find myself hobbling around for a day or two afterwards, muscles burning (in a good way). if you need any motivation, just look at how lean, fit, and in shape the instructors are and you'll be convinced that reformer pilates works. my favorite instructors here are jamie (she's awesome and a former olympic medalist) and bristin (the owner). they will really pay attention to your form and make sure you're getting the most out of each exercise -- not the easiest thing to do in a group class setting. speaking of which, group classes are pretty small, with room for 8 people at the most. the online booking system makes it super easy to book your sessions without any hassle, too. while the classes may seem pricey, the studio offers monthly deals which significantly reduces the cost of each session. for you crazy athlete types out there, they offer unlimited monthly memberships, too. i prefer to hobble around looking wrecked only once a week, thank you. read more

I came here because I signed up for a class through FitMob. I love being on reformers and think it is such a great workout!! I had two instructors since I attended this studio twice and both were great! One instructor focused more on abs and the other focused more on legs. They give you a great overall workout. They have lots of equipment and I feel that they make everyone feel welcomed. They modify things for you if you cannot do it or they modify it for those who would like to take on a challenge. Update: The more I go, the more I really like this place! And I'm definitely buying more sessions. I found this place bc of their LivingSocial deal, so I figured I'd try it out and see if I liked it. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think I'd like the place because to be honest, it's hard to get them on the phone, the only phone listed being the owner's cell. And the only way to reserve classes is to book it online. But despite my initial hesitation, booking online has really been very easy for me. I jumped right into a reformer class (skipping the intro and the beginner's classes,) and I had a pretty awesome workout. I may want to up the resistence in future visits, but it was a pretty fun workout. The instructor, Libby, was pretty mellow but she also paid a lot of attention to our form. And the class I attended wasn't very packed, so I felt like I got a lot of personal attention, which I really like. Overall, as long as it works with my schedule, n the instructors are cool, n the prices won't break my bank, then I'll be back. read more

I LOVE this studio. I have been a client for 4 years and try to attend 3-4 classes a week. The instructors are fantastic (Bella, Tasha, Lala, Courtney, Bristen, etal). They make corrections where needed to my form and encourage me to push myself, which I didn't experience at other studios. Bristen recently replaced and upgraded ALL 12 reformers (quite an investment and shows her commitment to her clients) Always leave happy I went and definitely feel I accomplished something the next day! I am a diagnosed Pilates addict, and came here for the first time about a month ago to take Jen's class, which was amazing! It was a great combination of cardio and strength on the Pilates reformer (which was in great condition and clean). No body part was left unworked! I just took a class next door at Circuit Cycle OC, which was a Cycle/Pilates class, the Pilates portion taking place here at Escape Pilates and I absolutely LOVED IT!! The instructor, Morgan, was so upbeat, enthusiastic, and friendly! Her energy made the class so fun that I almost forgot I was working out, despite how deliciously challenging it was! I am normally not a huge fan of spin, but this combo of 30 minutes dynamic cycling with 30 minutes Pilates reformer (my favorite) was PERFECT for me. I've visited many Pilates studios in the LA/OC area, and I can honestly say that this is one of my favorites. Whether you're a beginner in Pilates or an addict like myself, this is definitely a studio worth checking out. I can't wait to come back and bring my friends! read more

All the instructors are suuuper nice they even remember my name! came here for 4 classes due to a living social deal. Im hooked on the reformer but classes can def get pricey for them. The vibe is alot more mellow and calm than it is at Sweat House in Huntington Beach. Im use to a more intense (meaning deeper burns and harder reps) but this was a nice change of pace. Note: Better to be already dressed for the workout before you get here bathrooms are not in the studio and changing upstairs can be a little odd. read more

Not a memorable workout, instructor, or studio at all. I found the instructor for group Pilates unenergetic and disengaged with the studios especially myself, who was a first time student at the studio. I think that if I sign a waiver and introduce myself to the instructor, the instructor should take the initiative to make sure I wasn't stressing about how to put the platforms or parts of the reformers together and also to pay more attention to my form and placement on the machine. I have taken reformer before but the equipment at this specific studio was one I have never experienced with all the different placements of the blocks and platforms that I would have appreciated more direction. The workout was very mediocre and not challenging and for the most part, I found myself looking to my neighbors to make sure I was even understanding the instructions given. Personally think there are better studios, especially in the Costa Mesa/Newport area. read more

Purchased a Groupon which consist of 5 group reformer classes. I love Pilates on the reformer because I always get a good workout and it really helps with my alignment. The instructors here are NOT welcoming. It was my first time taking the jump board class. When I originally signed up for the class, it failed to mention it was a jump board class. I told the instructor I've never taken it before and she just ignored me. Good thing I'm a fast learner because I was able to catch up with the rest of the class. The instructors do not correct you at all. They lack energy and direction. If it wasn't for the Groupon, I would never come here. The classes here are EXPENSIVE and not worth the $$$. There are plenty of other Pilates studios that provide so much more. read more

It doesn't get any more down-to-earth than this place. The instructors are great, the place is clean and they've got all the extra springy resistance gadgets to go alongside the STOTT reformer, on the tower. Online class reservations are easy and there's no need to arrive extra early. I always bring water although there isn't really anytime to drink it during class! Bristin is so nice and her instruction style is clear and direct, so there is no question what move is next or how to do it. I felt the most burn during class (and days after) with Ashley Disman. I found this studio through Classpass and love the pilates class I've taken with Bristin! She's a great instructor because she customizes each move for everyone depending on their level. Her encouraging attitude makes it easier to get through all the plank poses in her class :) I've also taken her 50/50 class with the jumpboard and it's a great burst of cardio. It's a little difficult depending on the springs you use but you kind of feel like you're flying. I would definitely recommend Bristin's classes! The first class I took at this studio really turned me off because I took it with another instructor who seemed pretentious and a little frustrated that I didn't catch on to all the correct moves right away. However, I decided to give it another try and came to one of Bristin's class and ended up loving it! read more
