We had 6 in our party for the Murder Mystery. 4 of the 6 of us have never done an escape room before. We barely beat the room with a 1min & 1/2 left!! We did discover who did it but they came in and asked motives... it was different than an escape room before Alyse we were in the room for the whole 60min. My group did the most challenging room, Bitten. We have all done at least 50 escape rooms and have only not been able to get out of one. We were able to get out of this one with about 1 minute to spare but we collectively felt it did not flow very well. There were a lot of puzzles that didn't make sense unless we were prompted by asking for a hint. We were frustrated with how many things didn't make sense and that we had to guess how to complete many of the puzzles by using the process of elimination. I will say this the room was perfect for us to bring our 2 yr old which was nice. What made the experience a little less pleasant was how annoyed the person looked who was hosting us to our room. Just no nothing. Just a bit dry. Sorry I'm not expecting like a circus show or anything but some enthusiasm to hype up what we were going to do would've made for a better experience perhaps. My thoughts leaving this place was just MEH. Whomever my brother spoke to on the phone the first time and had messaged with was such a pleasure to speak with and very chipper and helpful. I've done a number of Escape Rooms and this one is just plain old not good. Did the secret society initiation room and while it was easy enough to do the puzzles themselves there wasn't any real connective tissue to go from puzzle to puzzle. We wasted easily half our time trying to sort out what the next objective was instead of solving them. When we asked for a clue the way they phrased clues in ways that were unhelpful. Eg; "the brick near the books is movable" except there were no bricks in the room of any kind whatsoever. Nothing was brick patterned, there was nothing made of red clay, nada. read more

For my daughter's 17th birthday I took my mom, 14 year old niece and 16 year old nephew to Beat the Room. I was a little worried we'd get stuck and not make it out in time so we chose the beginner/intermediate pirate Captain's Quarter room. We had a fabulous time. We had a little trouble getting started: touched, picked up, and looked at everything in the room for 10 minutes and couldn't quite figure out how to start so the parrot "Ruby" took pity on us and gave us a clue. At that point I was pretty sure we'd get stuck and not figure it out in the hour but once we got rolling we figured it out before the time and made it on the leader board as puzzle masters! The room was challenging and yet super fun for all of us, 3 teenagers included. We worked well together and I think it would've been harder without all of us there. The level of challenge vs fun was well balanced once we got past the confusion of how to handle the puzzles. I highly recommend Beat the Room, the employees that I dealt with by email and in person were great to work with. The room was well done with the puzzle elements and ambiance both. We look forward to trying out the Baker Street room next!! read more

"Chasm" is my favorite room, ever! This was a great experience. It was also a kid-friendly room where everyone could participate. All of the puzzles were fair and made sense -- they were actually solvable. We finished with just a couple of hints. The effects and artwork were wonderful. This was INCREDIBLY FUN and challenging! We did the pirate room, and the theme was extremely realistic. We did it as a year end team party instead of the typical pizza party and our team of teenagers had a BLAST together. Everyone chipped in and their own way solving the riddles for us to escape. Beat the Room is definitely one of the best escape rooms in the area. Chasm, Deep Space, and The Hidden Dragon were all extremely well detailed, challenging, and fun. They clearly put pride into their work because these are top tier rooms. Our gamemasters are always super fun and make the experience enjoyable. Honestly, I'm not a "puzzler" in the traditional sense of the word. My family chose "The Lab" and had an unforgettable experience. How fun! My 14 year old nephew had a BLAST and my 36 year old brother in law loved it. It was a perfect mix of finding clues by searching the room, that's what I was good at, and then the clues were well thought out and made us go "OH MY GOSH THIS IS AMAZING" multiple times. Thank you to Elizabeth for helping us out and getting us in despite a tight schedule! Our game master (whom I forget their name) made it very easy to understand the rules. The tricks that you employ through the challenges and clues are things I havent experienced in years! The tricks aren't too challenging, but do require some knowledge. Literally, my friend would point out a clue and make a sarcastic comment about it. Then I would have a lightbulb moment and be like, "YES! THAT'S EXACTLY IT!" Then I start implementing it, and I'd be like, "Give me your hand! Now grab the thing" she'd be like "what?" And I'd be like "GRAB THE THING!" And then she grabs the thing and a door opens and she goes "WHAAAAAATTTT". So hilarious My friends haven't beaten an escape room before, so I'm glad I was able to guide them through some of the challenges and tricks that you set up! Thank you for letting us experience that night, it was a great birthday experience for my friend, and great experience for everyone! So thank you for accommodating us! It was somewhat cold, but since it's been so hot recently it felt pretty nice. I was also wearing a hoodie, so I was comfortable. This Thanksgiving, my cousin brought 6 of us (my girl, his wife, my aunt & uncle) to attempt to escape the 221b Baker St. at Beat The Room. The room had a 4 out of 5 difficulty rating, we did not escape, but I can assure you we had a good time. The theme of Baker St. was that we were applying to for a job to work w/ Sherlock Holmes, and we needed to find out where Sherlock is and with who he was with. The staff was pretty nice and enthusiastic as well as they used accents and props relating to the them of the room. The escape room was relatively difficult, but you could ask for clues if you were struggling or reached a dead end. I was also impressed by how high tech the escape room was. To unlock certain doors and locks, you needed to use your head. Overall, we all had fun. My uncle was having a blast taking pictures and we were all working together having fun. I recommend taking your friends and family to these escape rooms regardless of age. It's a good team building experience and overall good family fun. read more
