I've now done four rooms here. They were both creative in their own ways. The employees are casual and so very friendly! I can't wait to try all the rooms! CarnEvil was great! A little creepy and kinda hard even with 6 of us in there. I loved the dynamics and time put into each puzzle. Captains Quarters was nice for 2 people. Still challenging for people not great with puzzles. We had a blast! I did Hansel and Gretel and WOW defiantly one of my favories. the creativity put into this was astonishing. We recently did the Steampunk and this one was the most difficult but man these are so thrilling! read more

First time doing an escape room so it was a little confusing at first. We didn't know what kind of puzzles to expect and were a bit lost but once we got rolling we did pretty good! It's a lot more fun than I expected. Definitely hurts your brain sometimes but getting a lock undone is super satisfying. We did Lilliths lair and it was a ton of fun. Again, never did one and didn't know what to expect, so we got confused when it came to a candle puzzle and something involving a book on a shelf. We almost won but I didn't want to break anything and winning involved doing something that felt like I was going to break a prop. You can ask for clues if you're super lost and they will provide one on a monitor for you. I will definitely do this again. Had a blast. read more

Had a great time! I was looking for something to do one Friday night and had always wanted to try an escape room. I booked the dollhouse room online. It was seamless and they did a good job introducing my friend and I to how it worked. Yes, we got clues quite frequently even when we didn't ask for them but they kept us on track time-wise. There was one puzzle in it that, to this day, I have no idea how anyone could solve without help. It also required multiple intelligence types which made it more fun - I'm a riddle thinker and my friend is a math brain, so we both were needed to solve different puzzles. I had so much fun I brought the kids down to do the Candyland room the next night. That one was a little harder to coordinate because we had so many bodies in the room (4 kids). A couple were left out a bunch because clues were on cards and a kiddo would often bogart the card or prop. But, there were several where I was able to get them all working together and involved. And, the end was pretty awesome- all kids left with a smile. I plan to return and do some of the harder ones. A lot of fun, but pricey. read more

Do not come here if you're an avid escape room fan. My group and I have done many escape rooms and this was easily the worst. Our game master was WAY too involved and never let us try and figure out puzzles on our own. It felt like every two minutes they were sending us a message which really interrupted the flow of the game. Half of the items in the room weren't plugged in, and everything felt sticky. The room was set up in a way that made it so that most people were just standing around while 1-2 people were inputting codes. It's a bummer because they have so many rooms but we will certainly not be back. read more

This was the second and likely last time we will go to Escape Rooms Mesa. After seeing their Groupon advertisement for a private escape room for up to 10 people for $135, we decided to be spontaneous and book a room for this evening. Unfortunately, the Groupon was sold out so we were not able to get the deal. Even if the Groupon were to have been available, it was only applicable to three rooms none of which were available. We ended up scheduling Rob the Bookie and paid full price: $226 w/ tax for our group of 7. The room decor was well done and the problem solving context was good. That said, the tasks were excessively difficult and many of the clues did not lead to logical conclusions. It took many additional clues from the game master to explain how we were to interpret the clues given within the room. We had difficulty getting one of the locks to open despite entering the correct code repeatedly. One of our group members became frustrated with the difficulty of the experience and disengaged from the activity for the last 15 or so minutes of the game. We did not escape the room within the allotted time. As we were leaving the game master told us that as repeat customers we should have called in to get a 10% discount when booking. I asked if we could get the discount on the spot. He told us that he was not empowered to give us the discount but that we could call back and speak to someone who could. Reflecting on the experience, it was not worth the $226 we paid. The Groupon price of $135 for the private room would have be more appropriate. read more

There was a team bonding tonight and apparently a part was broken in the room. The worker said it was fine but the owner came out and yelled at the adults who did not participate. Said she was going to charge us for it and we said ok but She was rolling her eyes and had major attitude when we tried to talk to her in a calm manner. Then the male work is got in our face and screamed at us and I asked him to stop because it felt very threatening. He was a larger man and turned and slammed the door in our face then opened it and yelled we better leave before he called the cops. The whole time we remained calm and tried to talk to them like adults but they acted like little kids. The youth said lots of things were broken and out dated in the room. When I walked in the lobby the floor tile was broken too. REALLY read other reviews because it sounds like things have been broken for a while now. read more

BTW the cops don't care that your ancient switches broke without anyone touching it. So, I've tried Jack's Cabin and Outbreak with several of my friends on two different occasions. Pros: Friendly, helpful staff Lots of diverse rooms Clean environment Deals/discounts Cons: Poorly made escape rooms Too much reliance on locks So, I'll explain the cons. Basically, the clues are impossible to get because they don't make sense. They don't follow a logical pattern or the theme. It's very frustrating after you have to ask for help from the staff and they give you even more enigmatic hints and then more hints for that hint and you finally understand and it's like, what?? Both rooms were like that, and we were able to understand the second room somewhat because the same tricks were used in the 2nd one we did. Also, in the lobby area, they have a bunch of different locks that you're supposed to practice unlocking because they have them in the rooms, which isn't a test of your brains. It just seemed silly to be stuck because you can't open to the lock. If you figure out the clue, then a door should open automatically like in other escape rooms I've done. Orrr, the locks should be the standard ones that we've all used throughout middle and high school. I don't understand what the point is of using those locks with letters and directions. read more

Did the Steampunk escape room here with two other people. It was just one large room with non-sequential clues. Wasn't very fun since we were constantly stumped and none of the clues made sense. Not a well put together room. It looked cool at first but was boring and frustrating after 10 minutes. We didn't get one puzzle without a clue. There is a reason they offer free extra clues with yelp check-ins and Facebook likes, the rooms are impossible without clues due to poor design. The $10 glow stick extra clue gimmick was cool but sucked to have to pay more money to win this room. Our staff member helping us was fantastic though and no problems there. Definitely not medium difficulty, steampunk is hard. I would be open to returning to give this place another chance with another room. read more

So I've done about 6 rooms here. All pretty fun. The staff was always nice. So why 3 stars? So I call and ask for a room that my 11 year old son and I could do together. They recommend a room that is listed as "hard" online, but verbally tell me it's not a hard room. I pay $75 for my son and I, including taxes. Not only was the staff unfriendly, but the room was so hard. Not even fun. We'd ask for clues.. and KNOWING it was a kid and his mom.. they gave the worst ones ever. And she was rude as heck when she came back in to tell us we lost. I paid $75 for a bad time. There's too many escape rooms in the area to risk an experience like that again. read more

Terrible experience. We booked the doll house room at 9:30 on a Friday night. The second my group got there we felt rushed from the staff with comments like "we're out of here right after you're done," "I've been up since 4AM," and "you're the last group, so please try to hurry." Said it jokingly but wasn't funny. Also could tell we were being rushed in the room with constant clues being given to us that we didn't ask for which takes away from the whole experience. Also someone in our group opened up something that apparently wasn't supposed to be opened til later on, which meant we were able to skip ahead two clues. Also takes away from the experience. Props obviously need to be updated. There are too many competitors in the area for them to be doing stuff like this. read more

Worst escape room I've ever done... We did Jekyll and Hyde and it was garbage. Generation 1 room with padlocks everywhere. Written puzzles that isolate players. The list goes on. A good room is generation 3 and has puzzles that actually fit the story and are co op. The worst part about this place is they will spam your email using the email address you signed your waiver with. So give them a fake email address if you do choose to go. PSA: waivers do not mean you can get hurt and not file a lawsuit. They are only in place to scare the customer into thinking they can't. read more

this one over here, based on what we heard and read is the Nation's biggest Escape Room..as they have more rooms than the usual Escape Rooms. We booked our reservation few hours ahead, and thankfully they honored our 'groupon discount' which is cool! of course they should! haha So we arrived about 15 minutes early. We were mixed with another group. Which totally fine. They were a group of one adult, his son who's celebrating his birthday that day, he's with his three other friends, they are about 6 or 7 years old. I don't know the exact rule or age restrictions to be in an Escape Room, but I think they're too young? It would not be a problem if they are being assisted by their parents or at least 2 adults. So while playing the game, the kids went crazy and they're all over the place! it's obviously hard to get their cooperation, as we know if you do an Escape Room, "teamwork" is extremely vital in order for you to make it! Unfortunately for this group, the father, who's the only adult failed to do his job! he didn't guide the kids properly as he was on his phone the most of the time! which is by the way you are not allowed to do inside! oh well! naughty daddy! Gladly, the management corrected it. One of the staffs came in and had the three of us exited. They apologized , gave us a refund, and guess what? they got us a new game available and made us play for free! and because of that, they deserve 5 stars! Not only they fixed the situation and refunded our money, they went the extra mile and comp us with a free game! That's what all business establishments should be right? Went with a group of 19 people. It was okay but could have been a lot of fun if we had more rooms. Ten people in a room is too crowded to get organized. It should be 6. The room was about 100 sq ft, Lost Dutchman. The rest of our group in the other room had a poorly functioning lock and the manager had to finally assist. No more time was provided though. We needed three or four rooms to make this work. The majority of our group had the same opinion and most stated it ws a one time event. Total cost was $26 per person. 57 minutes to escape. Four stars for the creativity in the room. Attendant was not friendly. Suggestion to the business, a little enthusiasm goes a long way. read more

I was tasked with planning our spring team building outing for work. An escape room seemed like the best place to hold the outing, but I always ran into an issue with price. That is, until I found Escape Rooms Mesa! I was able to snag a great daytime deal for up to 10 people. We tried out the Lab room. Man you'd think with a group of 8 analysts, we would have no issues at all. Think again! LOL Our host, who also happened to be the guy that builds the rooms, was fantastic! Though we did not escape the room, he informed us that it is one of the harder rooms, with a 30% success rate. And for us never having done that type of event, we did a great job. We had so much run and have decided we want to go back and give the room another go!! :D read more

We attempted to go to a different escape room a few miles away and the people running it never showed up so I looked online and booked a room with escape rooms Mesa. Showed up and it turns out I made an error in my booking but the staff were so friendly and helpful and fixed the error. We played the steampunk room and it was amazing! Very well put together with fun and challenging puzzles. We beat the room with 15 minutes to spare. The staff that were working went above and beyond for us and we are very grateful! Our family had a great time at Escape Rooms Mesa. We got the deal from the "entertainment" app which seemed to be the best offer at the time. Staff were friendly and helpful with the kiddos. We completed the escape room before the hour was up, requiring just a few hints from the staff. Everyone had a great time. Our group ranged in ages from 6 - 39 and all were entertained and intellectually challenged. There are different themes of escape rooms and you can choose which room would fit with your age group. This was by far one of the most fun family events I've done recently. Would definitely recommend! read more
