Attempted the Casino Heist, it was a solid room, but not my favorite. A few of the puzzles were real tedious. It also felt like the staff was watching us and manually activating unlocks when they see us complete various steps, which feels a bit unsatisfying. read more

We did the Pirate themed escape room and really enjoyed it! There were 6 of us and we booked the entire room - definitely worth booking the whole room if your group is big enough. We finished in about 40 mins with two hints. They have lots of room options and the staff was very friendly. They also have lock boxes for your stuff. Definitely recommend and would go back! read more

We know the team was just getting started with it, but they were great to work with and asked for lots of feedback as well. Conveniently located, too. Phenomenal! Love this place! Having not done an escape room before, I was a bit skeptical but the two visits (within a few weeks apart mind you...) were fun and challenging enough. On our first visit, we had a group of 6 and did the casino room. Fantastic! Really makes you use the ol' noggin. We got out with 10 seconds to spare. On the follow up visit we did the Egyptian room and while not as challenging as the casino room, the decor and darkness added an element not present on the first visit. Got out of this one too but trust me, it's not because the rooms are easy, they do have you use some brainpower. I have done two of their rooms: Outbreak (a group including people we did not know) & Casino Heist (just my friends). Both were awesome! Well thought out, fun, challenging, required team work (literally had some things you had to help each other do), and interesting. I had a discount code the second time that wouldn't work and they were very helpful and quick to reply to get things working. Part of the challenge is finding it, though...it's a small door near the Cheba Hut (hint for you). We will probably return for another! read more

The Outbreak and Casino Heist rooms were solid and solvable, but the staff did not monitor their games the way game masters at every other escape room we've done have. In the 50-odd other escape rooms we've done, game masters constantly monitor our progress and help with clues when asked. At EscapeWorks, either you get clues or you don't, and it's unlikely anyone is paying attention to your room. We told the staff we didn't like clues unless requested, and were told that was fine. Turned out that information was not consistently correct. The first room (Outbreak) was challenging, and we did need a couple of clues. When asked, the female game master gave us clues. No problems. We failed to escape, but that wasn't the game master's fault. But for the second room (Casino Heist), we got stuck about 10 mins in, and had no way to contact the male game master to give us a clue. No one was watching the cameras, and when we used the safety key to exit the room to ask for help, no one was at the desk. I had to walk around the whole place to find someone! When I finally found an employee, all we got were excuses. So now we're back in the room, the game master is aware that we need a clue, and still nothing happens for 2-3 minutes. Then "do you need a clue?" appears on the TV and we all nod our heads, mouth "yes," and wave at the cameras. Nothing. Finally, maybe 5 minutes later, we get a clue. After we finished the room, we spoke with two staff members about the problems we had, and they didn't want to listen. Both were very defensive, kept making conflicting excuses, and just didn't seem to care. So while we initially were happy with the first room experience, the second room left a terrible impression and we'll never go back. Unless the management gets its act together and gives clear, consistent information about what to expect, I wouldn't recommend anyone else booking this place either. 3 stars is average of first room (5) and second room (1) - the overall experience, not the actual quality of each room which were fairly standard. The staff was the problem, not the rooms. As always, your own experience may differ from ours. Good luck. read more

Our first escape room ever and it was an amazing experience! We did the Casino Heist room and it was quite the challenge. Each puzzle continued to push our brain power which we really enjoyed. Hints are offered if the overseers sense you get stuck on a problem for a longer period of time, but they are not obvious which was nice as you still have to have your wits about you. While we did not "escape" Patrick was great about walking us through the last 2 clues and the thought process of getting there. We booked the Egyptian Tomb for next week and cannot wait! As a military family, I take great offence to this, and I hope the owner will dispose of the flag the proper way (if you need help with this I am willing to help). We did the War Games escape room last night as a group of 8 for my wife's birthday and had a blast preventing World War III! We escaped War Games with help from our game masters Mona & Trace although we needed far fewer clues than expected. Dana was also a terrific host and does a great job setting the stage and the mood for what you are about to do. This was our second trip to EscapeWorks, the first was for the Egyptian Tomb which was also really immersive and well done. They do a great job with the clues, puzzles and locking mechanisms here. While there were two of your typical combination locks in war games a lot of them are a lot more creative & fun. I highly recommend EscapeWorks not only for their creative, immersive, and fun escape rooms and friendly staff. But I also think the price is very reasonable at $25-$27 per person and it's in an excellent location in Downtown Denver for whatever you want to do before or after. If you like craft cocktails, I recommend going to Union Lodge No.1 next-door for a cocktail. read more
