My friends and I did the outbreak room. Some of the clues were broken and one clue was completely missing from the room. The room had very little flow, however, some of the clues were innovative. I am giving it two stars because I have definitely been to a more immersive room with a better storyline. Fix the broken clues and make sure all of the clues are present! Such a fun experience, seriously try this place out! It makes you think in so many different ways. We were in the Egyptian room and were able to get out with 12 minutes to spare! There were 4 of us for the first 15 min, then two more friends joined. Lots of tricky stuff, seriously look everywhere for clues, almost everything matters. They'll even give you hints on the tv if they see you struggling which was very helpful. I want to come back and try more rooms. Did the Speakeasy room for my birthday with my entire family! It was very fun and Rose was very helpful giving us hints when needed but letting us try to figure it out on our own first! We had so much fun at the Escape Works last night! We did the `Beyond the Flowers` room. Thanks to our game master,Taylor, we made it out with less than 30 seconds to go! My sister was in from out of town on Halloween and we wanted to do something something special, like a haunted house, but those are so expensive! Plus, my 7 year old niece does not like to be scared at all. So we looked on Groupon for something reasonably priced and family friendly and found a great deal for EscapeWorks. It's a little hard to find the entrance, but once we got inside the woman at the desk always very friendly...and then she locked us (3 adults and 1 kid) in the Egyptian Tomb. We sucked. Great experience! Went with a group of 8 for a friend's bday. She got a groupon so we paid about $12 a person. It was so much FUN! It's only an hour. We got the Bronco themed scenario. We were players locked in the coach's office trying to get into the locker room and escape both rooms. There were lots of locks and keys to be found to open the locks. TLDR; Frustrating host oversights and sloppy mechanisms left us craving a stiff drink at the speakeasy in Beyond the Flower Shop. As we are wont to do, my girlfriend and I sought out an escape room while visiting Denver this past weekend. Because the franchise we are familiar with from San Diego (Escapology) is closed on Mondays, we decided on this one as it fit our schedule and the theme piqued our interest. We were met with frustration almost immediately after a logic leap in one of the first puzzles. This would set the tone for the remainder of the room. Our experience recognizes certain tropes of escape rooms and we attempted numerous times to retrieve what we knew should have been there, and it was only upon the third member of our group attempting to do so before our host intervened. He said that he did not close the night before, and didn't know that the room hadn't been reset properly and handed us the piece that was omitted from the reset. Soon after, we found the mechanism to which this piece belonged. This would begin another all hands on deck attempt to open what we knew should have opened with this piece, and only after we'd all made our attempts did the host again return to the room to hand us a replacement and return some time to the clock. Later in the room, after we'd long since discovered the solution to a dial combination safe + key uncovered early in the first room and had all given it multiple attempts, we were directed via the monitor to visit the location we'd already derived the solution from for some odd reason. My guess at this point was that our host was preoccupied with other rooms, on his phone or otherwise distracted. I don't like encountering these locks in escape rooms because of varying order of operations between manufacturers, but to pair this with a key whose action was extremely harsh made it all that more frustrating and probably tied up at least a good 5 - 10 minutes despite our attempts to solicit help from the host. A few more mechanisms whose actions were sloppy and didn't inspire confidence later, we were nearing the end and were once more met with frustration and confusion despite knowing the solutions. We heard police sirens cue that our time was up and instead of being allowed to beat our heads against the wall and finish, our host barged in with what felt like a disinterested "so close". My girlfriend and I had brought her sister along after multiple attempts previously to wash the sour taste of her first poor escape room experience with this one, but can't say that we made entirely too much progress with this clunky, mechanically inept room. read more

We had high hopes for this place. The room itself was pretty neat. But, my main issue is that they weren't dishing out clues in a timely manner. Their whole premise was that they would provide clues when we were stuck, we were stuck many times and we got to the point that we were repeatedly asking them for clues. When and if we got the clues, they were repeating something we had already solved. Needless to say, because it took so long to get clues...we ran out of time. When they came out after the game, I brought up their lag in providing clues in a timely manner, their excuse was that they "got busy". They didn't even offer to take a pic of us after competing it. Huge disappointment. Out of the 5 different escape rooms we've tries across Ft. Collins, Loveland, Louisville..this was a giant waste of our time and money. read more

EscapeWorks is one of the more professional escape rooms in the Denver area. Don't be fooled by the unassuming entrance, the rooms are expansive and technologically impressive. I'm a fan of down to earth rooms like Denver's 5280 but having a more corporate, high budget room was also a breath of fresh air. We did the speakeasy room which was fine. Personally if I do one more speakeasy room, I'm going to scream but this was one of the better ones. The best part of it was Rose, our clue person. From the start, Rose dealt with an unpleasant customer that didn't want to share the room with my friends and myself. It says in red, bolded font that rooms are public and to book a private, buy out the slots, but he must not have seen the BRIGHT RED BOLDED TEXT. Rose did an excellent job attempting to keep him happy and maintained absolute professionalism. Better yet, Rose was an excellent Clue person. We were stumped at first and I was worried that without a hint, we wouldn't pass the first part of the room, but Rose excellently timed the clues so that escaping was exciting as we beat the buzzer. Its not an easy job. Clue people are juggling a lot of balls but Rose was incredibly attentive to us. Thanks for the fun time and we'll see ya again next time were in town. read more

We just arrived in Denver and were walking around 16th Street with all our luggage in hand. We decided we wanted to do an escape room so we quickly looked up a place and found EscapeWorks. One of us called and was talking to a female representative. We told her that we were on our way there. We get there, ring the buzzer and we're allowed into the place. We walk up the stairs with all our luggage still in hand and as we climb our final step we are greeted by a bearded man. He asked us, "Can I help you?" We were all out of breath, and needed a second to talk but he seemed annoyed with us just being there. He then asked us if we booked online and we told him we did not. He quickly explained that we couldn't book there and we could only book online, going on telling us they have no POS system there when a simple, "Oh, I'm sorry, to book a room it must be done online" would suffice. We then asked him if it would be a private room, when he snapped back at us that it will only be private if we paid for a private room. So we then asked if there were any groups that had booked the room already and he said no. He told us we would be right back and proceeded down stairs. We quickly felt uncomfortable being there and did not feel welcome being there. We gathered our things and started to head out, as he came back he gave us an odd look. We then told him never mind and he smirked at us as we walked out saying "ok..." as if he couldn't understand why we were leaving. Me and my friends are big fans of escape rooms and are highly disappointed in the customer service that EscapeWorks failed to provide. We will not be back. The only highlight to this trip was the workout we received from climbing the 2 flights of stairs. read more

The Egyptian Room had great theming and the puzzles were challenging (though a few of the mechanics didn't work smoothly) but ultimately the experience was frustrating due to a seemingly inexperienced gamemaster. We've done about 10 rooms in 3 states and love the more elaborately themed rooms, which EscapeWorks delivered on. There were a lot of red herrings, which was ok, and we appreciated that the puzzles fit well in the context of the room. in the later stages of the game the puzzles became sequential so getting hung up one puzzle means there wasn't much to do. There is an art to being a game master and giving clues - and our game master needs more training. For example we didn't have a final combination quite right so he pointed us back to the location of a clue for decoding a cypher. We'd already decoded the clue, solved the cypher and had just interpreted two signs wrong. He ignored me waving my hands and saying we were confused, later saying the clues are performance based so he (would be great to confirm if this is EscapeWorks policy?) won't help if you ask. After the game I spoke with the gamemaster and the assistant and he was very defensive. He misunderstood where we were stumped and felt we should have understood his clues. This game started out great but was ultimately frustrating and boring while we waited for the time to run out. read more

My experience with the place was very poor. We had trouble finding the establishment due to construction which had made us late to our time. We had called them to let them know about our later arrival. When we got to the place, it took about 5 minutes and phone call for them to open the door. The manager said that our time was not cut short due to our late arrival, but as soon as we walked into the room, the worker said that our time was started 10 minutes ago. After that, we still had to go over all the rules and objectives of the escape room. By the time that we got into the escape room, we had lost 15 minutes of time on the clock. The workers and manager were very unprofessional, saying that we were screaming and cussing at the workers and it would not be allowed in their "family friendly" establishment. In fact, we were not "screaming and cussing" we had just expressed our frustration with the fact that they started the time before we were even there. Due to the fact, I would not recommend the place and will not be back ever. read more
