My first escape room and this didn't disappoint. It was just my wife and I, so we picked one of the smallest (suggested number of players) that I can find. I booked during late Sunday afternoon for a Monday 10am session, and it went as smooth as it can get. Our host James did a fantastic job, totally in character from the moment he opened the door, and always showed enthusiasm through out the experience. Most of the clues require some thinking and wasn't particularly hard, but we would have been stuck if we didn't holla at James a couple times for help. We finished with three minutes to spare, I believe this is a good escape room for smaller group that isn't super experienced. For anyone that is more cautious around Covid stuff like us, our host had his mask on properly the entire time. Thank you for an awesome experience James! read more

Oooohhh man this one was fun! The clues were great the area was small but we had a small group so it was perfect! Be ready when you pull up because it's just an old apartment building diverted into "offices" there is little street parking so do not leave things in your car! Make sure everyone is with you when you knock on the door, my hubby walked away to the bathroom the second we did so the guide had to do the intro twice but he was fantastic! The room got hot (it is very small, maybe 8x8) so wear something comfy and just a side note outta normal BUT you can't bring your purse in with you, and there isn't a safe place to lock your stuff up, just in the room your guide is in. We spent 150 for 5 people to play which .. Really is pretty expensive, that is pretty much my only con especially since it was a tiny room with most things coming from the good will . read more

Escapism- Jungle Ransom - Escape Games Near Me - Portland, Oregon

Wasn't sure what to expect here. It's in a weird residential/office area off of Barbur. Guess it adds to the spookiness of an escape room in general. The main door to the building is locked but there's a doorbell that you ring. Depending on your timeslot and if you get there early, there may or may not be someone there. You might also have to wait in the hallway, once into the building, cuz as soon as you walk into the room, the game starts! So make sure your whole party is there before going into any doors. While the room itself is small (2-5ppl), it made up in the puzzles and interactions. No spoilers here but a majority of the puzzles were fun, a few here and there that were WTF hint! There's a surprise or two, too, that we all loved. The host (Mythius?) was totally in character, which added to the charm of the game. read more

I love Escapism! I feel like they are the best for escape rooms and they even give you unlimited hints and book the whole room for you! The only thing about this location is the parking is super limited get there a little early to snag a precious parking spot, don't park in the private spots though! The location is upstairs but before you guys go in make sure your whole party has arrived and then knock on the door when you're ready to start! The room is small but there is a lot going on especially with the bongo drums and the semi-dark room. Mythius was a great host, especially with his accent! I felt like he was really into his role. I would say it does get pretty hot in the room, I had to take off my jacket and then sweater as it got more intense a small group would do best here since the room isn't all that big. Be prepared to think because there are lots of puzzles and it all is really in front of you just have to know where to look! read more

This is my first escape room 'review', but my third time doing an escape room. I thought it would be better to experience a few before writing a review... I have done: Combo & Key's, "Case of the Missing O.D."; Portland Escape Room's, "Kidnapped"; and now Escapism's, "Jungle Ransom". I have thoroughly enjoyed each, but must say Jungle Ransom is my favorite. I should add, my family and I have been successful at all three, but were given a few extra minutes with our first escape room. (I blame the two random guys who joined us, but that is another story...) Our Jungle Ransom host, Mythius (pronounced Mah-Thy-Us), was awesome! As soon as we arrived, he was in full character! It caught me off guard as I expected to go through some formalities before beginning. Mythius (his real name, can't recall his character's name) explained the scenario, let us know what was expected of us, and set us on our way! This was the first escape room where the host was not in the room with us. Looking back, being the only ones in the room, added to my family's experience. Mythius was a walkie talkie away if we needed hints. Of course with my pride, asking for a hint was out of the question... We did ask for a time check part way through the escape. After a quick info session, we were escorted to the room and left to figure out what to do... I can't say much else other than we benefited from good communication and people who think very differently. I guess that's no help... I will say Mythius added to this escape room experience and his efforts made this a 5-star review for my family and I. Enjoy! read more

As other reviews have mentioned, parking is a bit of a problem. Talk to them ahead of time to be clear where you can park. The building is kind of old and weird. We weren't even sure that it was legitimate when we got there, we kind of thought we were going to be kidnapped for real. However, it was super fun. We originally thought we were only going to get three hints and that worried up a bit, but whenever we got really stuck, our host helped us move forward. Being able to finish with numerous hints was a lot more satisfying than not finishing, without help, would have been. read more

We've done two rooms by this company and both were terrible. The clues are not intuitive. It basically involves opening one locked box after another. Nothing fun about it. We strongly recommend the Labyrinth. Sooooo much more clever and the clues make sense. read more

So fun! There were only 3 of us, but it was perfect as this room is small. We loved the surprise ending! Our guide was knowledgeable and spent time after the game talking about local experiences he has had. Will definitely try some of their other rooms. read more

This is SO MUCH FUN! Parking: It's in the office building, I kept wondering if I was in the right place or parked in the right place, but you can just park in the spot for the room # The event: I love how this one you can book the whole room with only 3 people. It would be weird working with another group. I went with my hubby and 10 year old son who thought it was a "funnest" thing. I also liked that you could ask for unlimited helps. It would have been frustrating for all of us if we didn't complete it. It was very well done with different types of puzzles to solve. The lady who was our "guide" was super friendly and helpful. My friends and I came down to Portland from Seattle to do 3 rooms with Escapism on June 24th! This was the first room in our travels with Escapism. This was a fun room! At first, we thought it was pretty easy, but the fun twist at the end was so surprising and we didn't see it coming! The employee was super into character which made it so much better! Brought my 3 daughters and the 4 of us NEARLY solved it. I loved that we had the whole place and it was an empty building. A little creepy but in accordance with the theme of escaping scary jungle guys. The actor/host was VERY compelling. He gave the whole experience a mood. Super fun. The girls (17, 14, 11) wanted to do a bunch more now. We're officially addicted. read more

This room was amazing! My wife and I did it as a two person group and the challenge was fun without being frustrating. The puzzles are a ton of fun and Mythius was amazing! This one was one of the more challenging rooms and you'll actually believe you're in the jungle. I've completed all three Escapism rooms. Like the others, I really enjoyed this one. I did this room with three friends. I think four people is a good team size for the quantity and complexity of these puzzles. We finished with plenty of time remaining, but it definitely wasn't an easy room. This room had plenty of cleverly constructed and well executed puzzles and I recommend it to any escape room group. read more

We had a good time but not a great time. It's really our problem, but a real one. Our group of five were all over 60, and one issue common with geezers is a vision issue, of reduced vision in darker spaces, especially coming from sunshine into darker spaces. The lighting in this room is intentionally dim, and two very bright lights, a flaslight and a lantern, are provided. We had real issues with reading the small numbers on the combination locks. When I emailed afterwards to point this out, Kimberly replied promptly to say that no one had ever mentioned that before, and that there is a ceiling light that could have been turned on if we had known. Next time we'll know to ask in advance. PS: a modest discount for a future visit might have been a good marketing move. read more

A whole lot of fun! My girlfriend had always wanted to do an escape room. I booked one for her birthday, but didn't tell her. It would be a surprise. My first escape room had an excellent actor as our host. I called and spoke to Mathew, and he had the perfect idea. He took down the sign out front. We entered the building. As we approached a door, it knocked. I knocked back. He poked his head out, asked if we'd been followed, then rushed us in. My girlfriend's son (10 years old) had no idea what to think. Mathew stayed in character, and made this an extra special experience. My girlfriend was pleasantly surprised, and is excited to go on to another room. I hope we get a great host/actor! The room was a ton of fun! Our host was in character, and the puzzles were creative and related to the theme. It is dim lighting, but it adds to the overall ambience. Also, the room was more intricate than we first realized. If you are extra observant you will have a great time. We got into a flow and powered through quickly, then realized there was more to the game than we first realized. Definitely one of my favorite escape rooms. Nice job, Escapism! read more

This was a really tough room. I've done 4 others and this is the only one I haven't solved. I agree with John B's complaint about the dim lighting. One person was forced to essentially hold the light for others as they worked on clues. I appreciate the darkness was part of the theme, but maybe having two hand held lights would help.
