Long overdue. This review is from Holiday's. I have a few different bakeries I go to in the area and they all are great and each one seems to be a bit better than others in certain things. Well here the only thing I get is the banana cream pie. My review is based solely on that and I'll tell you the rating is probably a strong 4.5 stars . I've tried all the local bakeries around area and other areas and I always seem to find myself back here at Esposito's. There's plenty of cream and banana filling and it has a perfect ratio and the top of the pie on the cream has slices of bananas and bottom is a graham cracker crust. Pie is absolutely delicious. I always get 3 of them during Christmas one for my house one for my parents house and one for my in-laws house this way here I'm guaranteed to have a slice or two no matter where I happen to be. Now Esposito's has lots of other delicious looking pastries and cookies and cakes it's just that I usually know what I want and just go for that however will probably try something else in the future read more

When I was little, my mom would come here to buy sliced bread. The counter worker would always hand me the greatest thing since sliced bread - a pretty Italian cookie with sprinkles on top. You want to know what the absolute best marketing tool is for a bakery? Free cookies to kids. Because you can chase down similar cookies throughout your adulthood, but NOTHING tastes as good as the cookies from the bakery your mom brought you to once a month when you were young. Fast forward 40 years, I'm in town from Portland, Oregon, and I can't even start my day without going here and trying a cookie. And it tastes exactly how I remember. Words cannot express my anger and frustration with Esposito's. They RUINED my wedding cake!!!!!!!!!! First off let's start with the rediculous looking "grooms" cake that I ordered for my rehearsal dinner that cost almost $100 and looked like I picked it up at Stop and Shop! The worst part? They spelled my name wrong on the cake! Then when I brought it to their attention, they smudged it off but there was still a mess of frosting where they tried to fix it! When I mentioned to the woman behind the counter that this cake cost a lot of money for this she just shrugged and said "what do you want me to say?". I told her right then and there it made me very nervous about my wedding cake. Well I apparently had good reason to be nervous. The baker just decorated my cake however he wanted! I specifically told him DO NOT put flowers on my cake. When I saw it on my wedding day, my heart dropped. There were flowers all over it. I had wanted my special order cake topper to be the focal point of my cake but it was lost in the mass amount of flowers on top of it! Flowers up the side, flowers on the top. It was horrible. Why why why couldnt they just follow simple instruction and not put flowers all over my cake? I get one wedding cake my entire life and I hated it. $500 mideswell have been thrown out the window. The best cannolis! Better then Mike's... I was shocked. And for $1.50 each! They are not mini, you get the standard size for $1.50. The filling was authentic and sweet. Dusted with powdered sugar.. yummy. I now have a new go to for cannolis. As always I had to sample the cupcakes too. Get this, cupcakes are .85cents! That is the lowest price cupcake I've ever seen in the Boston area. I thought the ones at Lyndells for $1 were the lowest but not anymore. They were decent too. Vanilla/vanilla: moist cake but not greasy, light tasting, fluffy piped frosting. Chocolate/chocolate: moist, milky frosting, one of the better chocolates I've had at a large bakery. Both cupcakes were also decorated very nicely. Some even had hand done roses. The service was very friendly. There are so many items in the bakery. They make authentic Italian pizza and arancini balls, breads, cakes, cookies, probably anything you need. Everything I had was so fresh. read more

First & LAST TIME! I thought they were closed cause it's so gloomy & no lights on 5:30 pm. The young lady was on the phone, she did put it down for a moment. However, when I choose my item she got right back on while putting the pie into the box. She should have gotten off the phone & paid more attention. She didn't make sure that she sealed (tabs & tapes) the box. It almost came right out of the front when taking out of my car; which would have been a disaster!!! As for the banana cream pie ~ I've experience so much better. It was more like a thick cheesecake filling, left you with a caulky feeling in your mouth, very filling. I went in on a Sunday to get a fresh baked loaf of Scali bread on the way to a nice weekend family dinner in East Boston. I had one job. Get Scali bread. To my surprise, they did not have any Scali bread at all. I asked the gentleman behind the counter if he knew of another bakery close by that was open on Sundays and may have Scali bread. He told me to go to their other location in Saugus, 5 miles away. I asked him if they would have Scali bread. He insisted that they would. I asked him to be safe if he could please call them and confirm. His answer again was "Oh no I'm sure, they definitely have Scali bread". I showed up there and before I asked for the bread, I explained to the girl behind the counter what I just went through at the Revere location and I joked that it was a felony for an Italian bakery not to have Scali bread. Then she broke the news to me that they did not have Scali bread either. I could not believe this. At first I asked her to call the other store and talk to the gentleman that told me to come there and that they would absolutely have bread. Then I changed my mind and said forget it I'm gonna go back there myself. When I went back, when I walked in the door I asked the gentleman to speak to the manager, his response was "did they have it?" I asked him again to speak to the manager and told him "no they did not have it". He informed me that the manager was not in the store. I asked him to write down the managers name and phone number. He replied "I am a manager." I told him "Oh OK so now YOU're a manager. Then write your name down on that same piece of paper with the other manager please." He started to get a little irritated about this. I took the piece of paper and told him "Look, if a customer asks you to make a phone call in the future, just make the goddamned phone call and don't be so goddamned lazy." This of course turned into an exchange of pleasantries as I walked out the door, with dueling "F You"'s for closing arguments. If Jesus Christ himself comes down from heaven and hosts a Sunday dinner and tasks me with getting fresh baked Scali bread, I will gladly accept the damnation all to Hell before I go back to Esposito's bakery. I find this bakery to be pretty good. I had been driving by it for years, probably longer than most people have been alive and yet never been inside until this year. They have the standard italian bakery stuff, plus pizza and calzones, which all were delicious. I very much enjoyed their pizza! I don't know what the prices were for anything because I am pretty sure they don't display them so that can be a little annoying. Pretty sure the calzones were $6.50 each but could easily be a few meals. Will definitely be back to try their other delicious goods. $10 minimum for debit/credit, pretty standard. read more

This bakery is just around the corner from my grandparent's old place on Larkin Street, so I used to eat here all the time as a kid. The Italian wedding cookies are my most favorite baked good of all time. Their breads are also great and the pizza is totally worth it. When I went in early in the evening their shelves were pretty barren, it is probably best to go earlier in the day. The best Square pizza around! We drive all the way from Newton to get it! Also the fresh bread and the Connolis are amazing! And so cheap! I surprise my boyfriend with the Connolis all the time! Esposito's Bakery (never heard it refererred to as Esposito Baking Company) has been around for years. The pastry is good enugh. The counter help could be more friendly and parking is tough. There are a few spaces in front but being right on Squire Rd is tough, There are a few spaces in the rear but that lot is tight as well. A friend told me they saw a roach in the display case (never saw one myself). They have good bakery pizza sold by the slice or whole pizza. They operate sort of old school where they don't have a computer system. My husband had gone in during the week - paid for two pizzas for a party - as we had many times before - I went to pick them up on a Saturday. Well, they had "no record" of our order or having paid. It was difficult to get them to give me the pizzas, although they finally did, but not before I said 'What is going on, I left by 8 year old daughter in the car because I thought I was just running in here to pick up my order'. Although they did not know me, I had been going here for my party pizzas and other bakery items for years. The handling of this snafu turned me off though. I will say, if you are doing ca$h and carry you should be okay because for the most part the stuff is decent and the price is fair as well. read more

This is a good Italian bakery in Revere. I've had their arancini (Sicilian fried/bake stuffed rice ball), and it's very good though very filling -- it's pretty heavy but tasty. There was an older Italian gentleman while I was there who made it for many years who attested to its authenticity too. As far as desserts go, I highly recommend their mini canoli's -- the pastry was just right, nice and fresh, and the filling you could tell was only just made and had not been sitting there all day long. I also tried their Tiramisu in the cup, but it's so-so and I wouldn't get it again. Otherwise, most of everything is worth a try. read more

I was there on Tuesday 6/25. It will be the last time I step foot in that bakery. I bought a few cupcakes a couple of pasteries and pizzelle's. They were all stale and hard as a rock. It makes me sick to think there were full trays of everything and not fresh. I would never own a bakery and not sell anything but fresh baked goods. How can you feel good about selling that to a customer? I find that disgusting! Pretty embarrassing when you are bringing it to someone else's house! Get the pan bread sliced in plastic and a few slices of pizza. I love bread and butter and I love sheet pizza. I always thought that Esposito's had the best of both for a long time. The bread in the pan bread shape is great alone or use it for sandwiches. The pizza is unique as it almost has a smoky flavor to it. I just started working near this location and thought I would give it a shot since I had gone to the location in Saugus on the Fellsway years ago and liked it. I went in for cannoli but they only had other pastry so I opted for "soft" baked biscotti. (Just a point of fact, if it is only baked once, you cannot call it "bi-scotti".) Anyway, I also chose a loaf of scali bread and the young girl behind the counter grabbed the bread with bare hands, turned on the machine, pulled the handle, grabbed a bread bag, loaded it in, shut off the machine (using the off switch on a power strip), twist tie and then took my cash and changed me out. I'm no genius but I know that there are laws regarding handling money and food. (Spinelli's uses those plastic see through gloves and people who only handle money) So, the food handling needs an upgrade there people. And judging from the reviews here being extremely hot and cold and from the quantity of food items in their cases, I'm hazarding a guess that someone who owns this property, is hanging on to sell. They opened a new location in Saugus, the old J Pace location...I've gone there a few times and I find their pastry, cookies and cakes to be great! I just got my wife a birthday cake there yesterday, everyone complimented how nice it looked and great it tasted! I'm picky about my bakeries...much like my mom who would drive multiple towns away for a good danish, I will do the same...I'm just thankful Espositos is near by! Update: Bought an additional cake, large, 1/2 sheet for a party for my wife. Cake was outstanding!..I was unaware that I should have called sooner but they created a beautiful cake within 24 hrs of our party. Thank you so much for accommodating and doing such a nice job! I loved loved loved the ladies here and the food. Their almonds cookies are heavenly and their steak calzones is perfect. Not too heavy, not oily not fatty! I really really loved it. 4/1/2011: This past Friday I purchased a Rum Cake for a birthday at the store, If I could give it less than one star, I would. The frosting tasted terrible like it had been sitting on the shelf for weeks. The filling was equally, if not more, terribly tasting. You could not tell the chocolate from the vanilla filling, and what was that disgusting berry flavored mess in the middle of the filling? It was the worse rum cake I have EVER tasted in my entire life!!!!!! The cake was also totally tastless. I would greatly recommend that you do not purchase their rum cakes unless you love disappointment and total embarrasement when serving this to guests. The worst customer service I have ever experienced! I called on a Saturday to order a white birthday cake for Sunday. They said there was no need to order, and there would be plenty a available. I show up Sunday and the girl told me there were no white cakes. Only chocolate and rum. I was pissed! I told her that I called ahead of time for this reason. She offered no discount or anything for the misunderstanding. I was stuck with a cake that the birthday girl did not like. So I called on Monday and asked to speak to a manager or owner. The woman on the phone said there was not one available. When I asked when they would be around, SHE HUNG UP ON ME! Immediately I called back and told her what happened. Place is so unprofessional and dirty. My wife ordered a tray of pizza half pepperoni half cheese. I picked it up after work it was my fault not to open it but it was taped up. I realized when I got home their were dirty fingerprints on the box. We opened the box and it had half salami instead of pepperoni. My wife called and the guy told her genoa salami is better than pepperoni. I don't even know what that means but there are so many better bakeries in the Revere area just go down Broadway. Went into Esposito's on 8/9/15 and bought some Panettone bread and a few desserts. We originally went in there looking for Cannoli's and the girl told us they were out of them for the day. We were about to leave after purchasing a few other items and I saw the Cannoli's under the Eclair's at the very bottom of the tray. I said "aren't these Cannoli's?" The girl looked and said "no those are Eclair's", so I said "I mean under the Eclair's." She looked and agreed they were indeed Cannoli's and she then got us the Cannoli's without a sorry, or my mistake, or anything like that. So we ended up paying and left. When I got home I opened the Panettone bread we had also got. I took a bite and it tasted like rotten cheese. I looked at the expiration date and it was expired by close to two weeks! I guess it's my fault for not checking the date more closely but I would think a responsible business should keep up with their product better. I mean how long would a grocery store stay in business if they sold products expired by close to two weeks? It's unfortunate as I go by this business frequently on my way past the rotary in Revere. I would have liked to have given this a better review since it had been years since I had stopped in and was looking for a new bakery to frequent. read more

I often stop here on the way to cook outs to pick up a dessert. Everything here is fairly good, nothing really special though. Their pies are good (we've tried apple and blueberry) and their other pastries aren't bad (eclairs, cupcakes, etc.). This place doesn't blow me away but it is a reliable place to pick up a decent dessert. This is written about the Saugus bakery. Last Sunday me and a couple of friends stopped in to buy some goodies because we always do after brunch. There were two women behind the counter, one was a very sweet young girl but the other woman (a blond older woman) was very rude and curt! Not only was she basically picking on the younger girl behind the counter she was rolling her eyes at a customer over the bread, very short with my friend and rude to me over the biscotti. I wanted to throw the bag of biscotti back at her. If I ever go in there again, and she's there, I'll be ready for her and won't allow her to be rude, condescending and short with me without telling her how I feel. read more

i agree with many of the other posts. i've been there many different times and the food is usually good but i have rcvd stale food...and POOR customer service. the older woman who owns both the revere and saugus location is AWEFUL and VERY RUDE. she can not accept when a bad product is sold and will argue with you. a couple of times i tried ordering sheet pizza for parties. i have had to leave the pizza there, due to lack of cheese. i saw more tomatoes on the pizza than i did cheese so i explained the pizza is for children and i need a new one. she became irate and yelled at me in front of a shop full of customers. her teenage workers at the counter are slow and not too concerned when a long line forms, as they continue texting on their cell phones. the cookies are only fresh on holidays, you cannot walk in during the week and buy a good batch. when i have asked for a fresh loaf of bread to be sliced (new) for me,they tell me they can't and sell me the pre-sliced bread that turned out to be (surprise!) stale. from the time i started going there till these past few years the product and service has gone down hill. i have given the place many different chances but its sad to admit they are no longer a place of quality as they had been when i was growing up. i'm honestly surprised that they have come up with enough funding to open a second shop. read more
