What a disgrace to the Ess A Bagel NYC name. It is not even close to the same experience. The Bagels are tasteless and the barely there cream cheese schmear is an embarrassment to the brand. The employee was pushing that I toast the bagel and I see why, it was not fresh at 8:30AM--What ! Not even close the service of NYC. Had an early flight from Terminal A and ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel. I watched the cook pour the eggs from a carton and then put in the microwave. Willing to overlook, I took a bite. The bagel was so hard and tough it had to be from the previous day. The egg was awful as was the soggy bacon. So many choices in the terminal, I will steer clear in the future. Shame because I have had great experiences with them in NYC. read more

The cashier didn't know how to ring up a bagel/cream cheese sandwich, or how to add toppings, kept trying to get me to just pay for a bagel sandwich with lox instead. Toaster was broken (which he told me) and they were out of onions (which he did not, so I ended up paying for then). Skip this place unless you want to spend $15 for a turkey club with one, only one thin slice of sweaty, composite of turkey. Seriously, one slice of meat, $15. Airport food is usually bad and expensive but this was a rip-off. There are better options in the terminal. read more

If you are in a hurry forget this place. You would think they were inventing the bagel they are so slow. I have never seen a place so disorganized. Breakfast sandwiches on the menu in the terminal A location were not available, only bagels and cream cheese the person rudely stated unintelligibly when I ordered. Then It took longer than making a sandwich from scratch to receive a bagel with butter. However, the employees all were able to carry on an extended conversation during which they completed not one order. Disappointing food options and service...I won't return for strike 3. read more

OK, so the bagels were good (not as good as in NYC), and I did not care so much for the pre-cut sandwich turkey but the service was atrocious; I mean really bad as the cashier was impatient and barely acknowledged I was there. I guess serving your customers is annoying. And yes, you did pay ridiculous airport prices. Better than your usual airport food. read more

Why rate an airport bagel place? Because the bagel was actively disgusting. Bagel was stale, egg was stiff and tasted like artificial nothingness, and cheese left a horrible aftertaste in my mouth. Bagel was also cut in a way that made one side of the sandwich paper thin. Avoid! Pick somewhere else. read more

I don't care about exposing this business about majority of the things I know about. First that place got a new manager in February/March. First thing is, if you're sick and call out you need a doctor's note. Understandable. But if you're already at work and are feeling super sick and could possible get others sick the manager expects you to stay (she did this to me). Went home turned out I had covid. Secondly, be careful when eating a bagel with cream cheese, or having any dairy, actually anything. I highly suggest you ask for the expiration dates on them. Some things were expired and the manager thought the best thing to do was mix the cream cheese with plain cream cheese and cross of the expiration date and add an extra week. Even when the expired cream cheese was smelly and separating from itself. Same thing happened with the Tuna. Thirdly she is extremely racist to all the people working. I don't even want to begin repeating the things my coworkers have heard her say about them. Let's just say she think's only people from her country work the best out of other hispanic countries and America combined. Manager likes to make slick comments and thinks no one would understand because she says it in Spanish. She fires people who calls her out and makes the reasoning something it never was. Everything else about how the food is made and bagels being hard is all the "higher up" people who decide how things are done. Especially because it's a small cubicle that we work in. Do not recommend. They microwave liquid eggs for the egg sandwiches. Long wait with multiple employees standing around.

My new friend Tiye, or Sky, was super friendly, helpful, and hospitable at the front register. Great customer service and quality coffee. My friends got the bagels and couldn't stop talking about them- said they were very good. Would go back in a heartbeat! It's the place to be at Newark Airport! read more
