For those of you that follow my reviews, you know I am usually living in the UWS. I have lived up there for the last 30 years. This year, however, my building raised the rent to insanity, so now I am on sabbatical down by Wall St. Who cares? Right? Well, since I'm down here now, I stumbled onto a new bagel place I never would have found otherwise: Leo's Bagels. Leo's Bagels is amazing! For me, bagels are serious business. I believe I've tried every bagel place in NYC. I definitely have tried the famous ones. I would put Leo's in my top two. I know... I wouldn't have believed it either. I'm looking at these reviews, and I see that some tourists who buy their bagels from Lenders at Safeway don't understand the complexity and care that goes into a NYC bagel. Bagels are an art people, and Leo's bagels are masterpieces. They are the correct texture, density, flavor, and chew. I follow all the best of bullshit articles in the NY Times, NY Mags, etc. I have never seen Leo's mentioned. They should be in the top three every time a list is published. I guess they aren't paying the Vig. I don't know a lot about a lot of things. I know a lot about bagels. Leo's bagels are incredible. If you don't like them, keep your ass in Iowa, carve something outta butter, and don't bother coming to the City. read more

Place was playing country music. I was overwhelmed with the menu. One of the staff members noticed and said, "would you like a menu miss?" I love the manners. You can build your own bagel here. I got a whole wheat everything bagel with turkey maple sausage, egg, havarti cheese, sautéed onions, alfalfa sprouts and spicy mayo. They had a whole staff here, they were all very nice. And they were keeping busy too. This place really had everything from fruit rolls, to homemade salads, almost every type of smoked fish you could think of. It felt like it was Forest Gump talking about all the different types of shrimp. "They had 'eastern Nova Scotia', they had 'everything Nova Scotia', they had 'Scottish salmon', belly lox, gravlax, pastrami salmon, Norwegian salmon, wild pacific king salmon, wild sockeye salmon, organic Irish salmon.... Man I could on and on but then my order was called! The bagel was good. The egg was omelette style if that's your vibe. Honestly the place itself was better than the bagel, perhaps it was just the bagel I got. Maybe I should have stuck with one of the menu options. Nevertheless, the place was cool and the music was good. I'd come back and give it another try! read more

mission try every bagel place in New York City took one step forward at Leo's - the vibes in here were exactly what I needed like counter staff who wanted to fight me but also called me honey 84x and a menu so large I just started spitballing - I got an everything bagel with olive cream cheese and was pleasantly surprised. the bagel was encompassed with a hard shell packed with seasoning. I wish there was more salt though - I will say the saltiness was satisfied with the cream cheese which was filled with bits of olive and each bite carried the taste of the brine. it was tangy and sour yet fluffy and creamy in texture. - the size of the bagel was great and the fluffiness of the inside stayed even with the crispy outside. our orders were out fast. there is plenty of seating around the windows inside or wander down the street for outdoor options read more

Why is the rating for this place so low. I've been visiting here since 2020 and the bagels are always amazing, fresh and delicious. The staff is also always friendly despite how busy they are. Im surprised how much space they have inside for a bagel spot. Super spacious comfy place to enjoy a bagel. + it always smells amazing inside!! read more

Did I just spent $20 on bagel? Did I just break my lunch budget? Was it good? Yes! I won't be coming here every day but the bagels were lighter and fresher than other places. The lox was sliced nicely and fresh and I couldn't tell the cream cheese was tofu. The tomato slices and onions were thinly sliced and the whole sandwich was packed nice and tight, including the capers. Will be coming back but probably make my sandwich less fancy. Leo's Bagels opened in SI NY a few weeks ago. The bagels are disgusting! The manager is a thief. Bought a dozen bagels and hand packed vegetable cream cheese ,drove two hours to see my family with these bagels and they were horrible dry disgusting and there was no cream cheese. I speak to the manager the next day he told me he didn't charge me for the cream cheese because it was bad and never informed me of that I told him how disgusting the bagels were , offered no refund ,nothing. The end result was I got charged $36 for a dozen bagels that have to be thrown out and no veggie cream cheese! Don't waste your money and don't trust the manager. read more

Although this place was packed with people, the line was well organized, staff handed out menus and the cashier was calm and pleasant. The restaurant was clearly used to handling a busy bagel shop on the weekend and they were very efficient. The food was ready fairly quickly. I've come here quite a bit through the years. Their wait time/speed has definitely improved with the expanded space! Pretty good bagels, not my favorite but a reliable option. Usually grab it to go, since there's a few stools, but do sometimes see people eating inside, so it can be an option if you hit timing well. read more

The bagel was definitely one of the top ones I have had in Manhattan where they did warm it up but it was not too tough. The bagel was big and the right amount of chewy. Unfortunately this bagel ranks at the very bottom of bagels I've had in the past decade. I ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese and it came burned and was slightly flattened. Coming here, it didn't seem too busy today. I got their belly lox bagel. For the bagel, I had egg everything. I usually get either strawberry cream cheese or scallion cream cheese, but I saw that they had a sun dried tomato and roasted garlic cream cheese and decided to get it. I ordered a Too Good To Go surprise bag from here and was pleasantly surprised! I was given more than a dozen bagels of different varieties and all very fresh! Fresh being the kind where the bite is soft and chewy. The bagels are also pretty sizable! I can't speak about ambiance or service, as I was only there to pick up the bagels. But, 12+ fresh bagels for $5.99 is a deal! I appreciated the owner waiting for me as I arrived slightly after the pick-up time. Based on the bagels alone, I'd give this place 5-stars and I'd most definitely welcome returning here for a proper meal. read more

we came at around 3pm on a saturday afternoon. it was not super busy at this time. i wanted to pay cash but their cash register that took cash was being sorted at the moment, so i had to pay card, which was a bit annoying but not the biggest deal. given that the store wasn't too busy, our bagels were ready in just a few minutes. they hand you the bagel over the counter with a smile which is a nice touch haha. these bagels were HEFTY and thick. i got the whole shebang on an untoasted plain bagel. the bagel texture was perfect, a nice crisp exterior with the perfect chewy soft inside. the cream cheese was delicious and as with any cream cheese nova bagel, the flavors all just melded together so perfectly with the tangy and soft cream cheese, the crunchy cucumber, sour capers, and melt in your mouth nova. this was just a perfect bagel sandwich. i was sad when i took my last bite. as per nyc standards, this bagel came out to $18, quite expensive. but i'm thankful that at least it was so so delectable. read more

Got sun dried tomato and roasted garlic cream cheese with tomatoes on a toasted green everything bagel (they were sold out of normal color everything bagels when I went, and instead they had a green version for St. Patrick's Day). A pretty good place for a bagel. The cream cheese wasn't too crazy or slathered on too thick and the flavor itself was yummy. The bagel was fluffy and not toasted too hard, and I loved the seasoning on top. The roasted garlic pieces really added a nice flavor. Would return again if I was in the area. read more

Leo's is a FiDi staple, one of the best bagels in the area. They have a good mix of bite on the exterior and doughy chewy interior. I recently picked up 20 bagels for an event and they price a bakers dozen (14 bagels) at the same price as a dozen individual bagels $25.80, as long as you choose from a specific list of flavors, which encompasses your general favorites like everything, sesame, poppyseed, egg, plain, cinnamon raisin, onion, just to name several. Any extra individual bagels up to the next bakers dozen are at the single price of $2.15 each. Cream cheese starts at $4 for the smallest container, $7 for the the 1/4lb container, kinda pricey though it's hard to get fresher whipped style cream cheese elsewhere. Service is fast, blunt and on point, they run like a well-oiled machine. Mornings usually mean a short line but it moves quickly and you'll be in and out of there in 10 minutes. A handful of seats but don't expect to bring a large party or hang out for a while, quarters are tight and a steady stream of patrons will be brushing past you. I haven't tried their bagel sandwiches mostly bc I'm not a huge fan of more than a very slight schmear of cream cheese on my bagels, though some people really enjoy them. read more

Yes $20 for a bagel sandwhich is quite insane but I'd do it again because this was heavenly. I got the hanover hangover and added avocado mash and it was bigger than my head. Definitely recommend sharing this! The potato latke complimented well with the sausage and egg but I do wish the cheese was melted. The service was pretty quick and my friend and I had no problem finding seating inside. Decorations were standard but I do like the high bar seating against the window. So many everything bagels just taste like a plain bagel with texture but it was seasoned and very tasty. Great slight crunch with a soft inside. My first time trying potato latke on the Boychick and didn't really care for it, didn't add much to the bagel and made it feel heavy for me. The lox spread was good.
