THE BOCA
Keke K.

I was in Chelsea Market so I stopped by and let me tell you it was pretty disappointing. They were out of most of the classics, no everything, no sesame! So I settled for a multigrain since it was that or plain bagel. I ordered their Boca bagel and it took nearly 15 minutes just for that one bagel. When it finally came out, it didn't feel fresh at all, just hard and heated up. Honestly, I couldn't even finish half of it. Definitely not worth the stop.

Cinnamon Raisin Bagel

Not my favorite bagel. It's wood fired which probably means high heat quick bake. I find most wood fired bagels are not my cup of tea cuz it leads to a chewy but low density and not a fluffy bagel. Wood fire is great for pizza but not necessary for bagels. The flavor is nice though. Got the Everything and Cinnamon Raisin bagel, no cream cheese. Texture is chewy but not soft or fluffy. It's too low and a bit too chewy inside. The flavor of topping and raisin to cinnamon ratio is nice but not enough to offset a lack of great inside dough texture. These bagels are great for sandwiches cuz it will hold well to the sandwich fillings but not as true bagel. Even with smear it will be fine. But I'm looking for an amazing fundamentals of a bagel first and not off set it with accompaniments.

TURKEY AVOCADO

Got the turkey avocado from the location inside Chelsea Market. A bit expensive for a bagel sandwich, but I suppose all the stores in the Market are that way. I loved that the bagel was seasoned on both sides and thought this was a really enjoyable sandwich. Good quality avocado, good amount of meat, not too tough bagel. Didn't change my life or anything, but a good time nonetheless.

Black Seed Bagel in the Chelsie Market

Fresh and delicious. Highly recommend if you want a New York Bagel in the Chelsie Market. Perfect to grab and go.

Wow didn't expect Black Seed Bagels to have such a low average rating! My siblings and I came here on a rainy morning and I got the lox cream cheese bagel on a multigrain everything bagel and my brother got the ham, egg, and cheese everything bagel. Honestly we both enjoyed it, it was very filling, but it is definitely on the pricier side. The service was quite fast considering the long line up and they give you buzzers to help you know when your order has been prepared.

TURKEY, EGG & CHEESE THE BEC
Jenny C.

I was at Chelsea market the other day and decided to stop at black seed bagel for a quick breakfast. They are my friend's favorite bagel spot so I really wanted to try it for myself. We ordered the BEC (bacon egg and cheddar) and the turkey egg and cheese, both on everything bagels. The bagels were soft but maintained a nice chewy bite and not dense at all (which is a big determining factor for me). The eggs were well made and the respective proteins gave everything a lot of flavor. Overall, the bagels were great. Only downsize is that they are pretty pricey. Bagel sandwiches cost $8-$13. The servers were nice. I heard one singing in the back which is always nice to see. Seems like they enjoy their workspace.

Holy crap the legend is true. First time in Manhattan and we decided to go to Chelsea Marketplace based on a recommendation. Growing up in Indiana and loving most of my life in Florida I had heard about the fabled 'New York Bagel' and attributed it to urban legend and fancy marketing. Black Seed Bagel was all I needed to become a believer. There really is a difference. I can't eat another soft, lifeless bagel no matter how good the lox is.....curse you bagel masters!! Seriously this is an amazing place for a bagel. I went to two others in the city but they were not nearly as good. Can't say enough. Just go and you too will be blown away.

THE SALMON CLASSIC
Julia K.

Great Bagels for a quick lunch break if you are in the neighborhood. I really enjoy my Pastrami Reuben Bagel. The salmon classic had a bit too much cream cheese on it. Busy but didn't have to wait too long. Service is friendly and quick. Great spots for sitting outside on a sunny day!

Everything Bagel

This was without a doubt the worst bagel experience I've had in my life. They didn't include the bacon, burnt the bagel in the toaster when I asked for it not toasted, and they cut the bagel in the worst way possible. Completely unacceptable way to serve someone.

My first New York Bagel! I was completely overwhelmed by all the choices. The menu had such tasty options, I wanted one of everything! I decided on something basic; an everything bagel and plain cream cheese! Counter guy was so nice, patient and very helpful!

Multigrain everything with SCALLION CREAM CHEESE

Enjoyed my bagel, which was light but substantial--perfect for breakfast when you don't want a heavy meal. Great service too!

Pumpernickel Bagel w/ Truffle Cream Cheese
Ruby C.

* Pumpernickel Bagel w/ Truffle Cream Cheese I ordered pumpernickel bc the dark brown color paired perfectly with the generous truffle spread. The spread was creamy, fragrant and flavorful. $6.48 after tax. It is def on the pricey side - their bagel sizes are much smaller comparing to other shops, and probably the luxurious truffle spread charges higher. Not the best bagel in town, yet it is still worth a try if you love truffle as I do.

Everything Bagel SCALLION TOFU CREAM CHEESE SINGLE BAGEL

Friendly and fast service! I recommend trying the everything bagel with the scallion tofu cream cheese. Yum!

It's a bagel, and it's salty. I'm not sure how a bagel shop would earn a five star, but if anyone deserves it, this one should be up there

We got the Banter Bowl, which includes pickled carrot, cabbage, watermelon radish, cucumber, edamame, avocado, quinoa, and miso ponzu dressing. You have a choice of meats, so we chose the grilled chicken. Second, we ordered the falafel bowl that includes three falafels, pickled onions, avocado, cucumber, whipped garlic feta, kale salad, romesco, and Za'atar dressing that had a delicious flavor. However, our ultimate favorite had to be the Thai Crunch Wrap with sweet potato fries. It was fairly busy, and our drinks took a while to come, but the food arrived shortly after. Think vintage wallpaper, little knick-knacks, and warm lighting. It's got character. I ordered the market salad with mixed greens, honeycrisp apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, and sherry vinaigrette. It was a hearty portion - super fresh and flavorful, and honestly more than I could finish (not a complaint!). I also ordered a Diet Pepsi with grenadine; they don't carry Diet Coke, which I almost docked a point for, but the mix was unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend it. My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.
