It's a good thing that they had a Groupon, because I'd have never known about this place otherwise. It's tucked away in a set of largely medical office buildings along the North Loop between TC Jester and Ella. We'd arrived a bit early and the therapists weren't ready for us. It's a small operation-- just a couple of office suites-- and they don't keep more staff on hand than they need to fulfill appointments. With our deal, they included a glass of wine each and a refreshment tray with strawberries, pretzels, and chocolates. I couldn't really tell since my head was in a face cradle, but it sounded like my fiancé and I had two different experiences. She later told me that there was a lot of stretching and twisting, while my experience was a more traditional relaxation massage focused on my back. I plan on coming back, but I might want to switch therapists so that we can each get an idea of what the other therapist was doing. Who knows, our reviews might change entirely. read more

Great massage experience. I went in for a couples massage and was instantly greeted with mimosas and tray of treats. The lobby was very relaxing and inviting. The massage itself was great (60 min). The therapist asked where I wanted her to focus and did a great job seeking out my tense spots. I loved the hot stone, scrubs, hot towels, and stretches incorporated into the routine. I left very calm and relaxed! The only thing I am taking a star off for is the location. Both the building and the suite are a little tucked away and hard to find. This place was different from the other massage places I've been as it is more therapeutic than relaxing. Now, Tish will get out all the kinks, but if you're not use to that style of massage with concentrated stretching and trigger point techniques, you'll be caught off guard. She gave me a lot of helpful advice about my neck and shoulders, which I hope to incorporate soon if I can figure out how to do it safely at home. Tish was lovely and I think before I can love this place, I just need to get use to the style of massage that focuses on correction of pain, based on the stretches and how my body was positioned. Purchased a Groupon for my girlfriend's birthday. She set up the appointment for 4pm on a Saturday. They moved us to 4:30 without calling to ask- she found out the day before when they texted to confirm (not a problem for us). We show up at 4:15 to get set up and couldn't get into the building (tried every door). We called the number on the Groupon and the number they sent our confirmation from, left multiple voicemails, but didn't hear back, so we left and did not get the massage we paid for. I have been going to Tish since 2015, when my hubby got us a Groupon for Valentines for a couples massage here & having been going on a regular basis ever since. If there were 10 stars, I'd give them! I love that she can tailor each massage using a combo of Swedish, Deep tissue & hot stone. I've had both prenatal & postnatal massages, with Tish, and she gives extra care in areas needed and accommodates new moms, making you feel comfortable. Tish also gives me advise on things I (or my hubby) can do to relax / massage area at home, which helps between sessions. I love that she also incorporates some stretching into my massage too! She is a miracle worker and I always leave relaxed & refreshed, never overly sore the next day. I've had more massages than I can count over the years, but Tish is the only person I truly enjoy and continue going back to. read more

After several voicemails & our massage expiring in 3 days, we will attempt to get a refund through Groupon. I wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone, someone else told me they won't let you use your groupon on the weekend, basically you need to take off work or go for your massage & back to work etc. to use your certificate, so many inconveniences. On 2/26/19 I visited Essential therapy with my sister who was suppose to take her bf and fortunately for me they broke up before he could use it. I gladly replaced him. Upon arriving, the location was quiet different as it is in a office building. I was open to whatever so it didn't bother me. We arrived in her office and immediately liked the ambiance and mood. Now, I wasn't bother at all that it was in a office building. The place was very cute and Tish was very welcoming. There are 2 rooms, one for couples and the other for singles. My sis and I went into the couples room and we had mimosas and chocolate covered pretzels and strawberries. Now I love a free drink so I'm pretty impressed at this point. Anyway, the massage was amazing. Tish provided the proper pressure and I had a crick in my neck so it was a plus for me. I would definitely go back for a massage in near future. I was given a gift for a massage here. Not only was I nervous because this was my first massage ever but I was unsure due to everything "bad" you here about professional massage places. Booking the appointment was hard, as they did not answer the phone, and I didn't get a call back either, I had to just keep calling. We had been working out everyday so we had a couple of places that we knew needed work & I was completely sore in some places. We bought a Groupon for a 60 minute couples massage. We made an appointment for a Saturday at 9 am. We showed up, got undressed, and laid on the massage tables. We were then told that the second massage therapist had a flat tire and we would have to reschedule. The owner offered us a 90 minute massage the next weekend to make up for the inconvenience. We arrived the next Saturday for our now 90 minute massage. The massage was fine (not the best or worst I've ever had). Warning: their tables are not heated so I was cold nearly the entire massage. The massage therapists announced the massage was over. As my husband and I got dressed, I commented that it didn't seem like 90 minutes. Well that's because it wasn't. In fact, we didn't even get the full 60 minute massage we paid for. Our massage started at 9, and we were dressed and leaving by 9:50. As we were leaving, we noticed that the 10:00 couples massage appointment was already showing up. As there is only one couples massage room, it would have been impossible for them to stay on schedule if they provided the full 60 minute massage. The facilities are fine and clean, and the massage was okay, but overall they are unorganized and unprofessional. I won't be going back. read more
