As you walk into this deceptively designed shop, you'll find a tight entry. To the right is the service counter. Immediately in front of you, is a grocery store with fresh produce, drinks, etc.. There's no real service to speak of. You go in, look at the menu above and behind the register, make your choices and pay the employee at the till. When I went, no one offered to answer any questions or sell me anything. The woman at the counter next to the young man behind the register just watched me while I checked stuff out. On the left between a dark room and the grocery, were large racks of Mexican pastries and breads. I have tried Mexican pastries in the past and have not really enjoyed them. But "hope springs. . ." and all that. So, seeing a decent amount of plump pastries and breads that looked incredibly fresh and enticing, I used the provided tongs and placed a few into a bag (also provided). I'm still thinking about going back for more. They were all moist and flavorful with fillings that were delicately sweetened. So so good. I perused the menu acting as though I hadn't come there for one item only - a breakfast burrito with bacon. I liked the breakfast burrito I had here and would definitely recommend it. It's a full meal capable of holding you for a long time. I would probably want to eat one again before a long day of chores, shopping, or a strenuous hike. I need to feel like I earned the calories. And I wasn't hungry until dinner. Behind the register is a doorway to a whole other experience. The kitchen is safely and sanitarily located behind tall countertops and a refrigerated section. I was excited to see the variety of offerings from south of the border. Are you hankering for a goody you can only get in Mexico, come here and look. You'll probably find it. That dark room I mentioned earlier is a huge dining area with dark iconic furniture that I discovered on my first trip to Mexico many years ago. Black leather and wood barrel shaped chairs with black leather topped round tables scattered around a dark room with black tile floors. There were patrons eating at a couple of the tables who looked like regulars. The size of the dining area made me think it would be a great place for a large gathering. I'm now wondering if they ever have live music and if they would be able to accommodate a large birthday party. There are a couple of picnic tables in the back, off the parking lot, where I ate my meal. I believe the notion of putting tables back there was more like an afterthought because it's not decorated and it's right along the back walkway from parked cars to the restaurant door. It's not regularly attended to, I guess, as there were remnants of another customer's meal at the other table. I also had the thought that it might just be a place for the employees to take a break and eat a meal in peace. Overall, I will be coming back and trying other menu items, baked goods and products from the other room. read more

First off, this is a store, not a restaurant, that being said, it's a decent store that sells food. The inside is not that great, not very clean. The service is ok. They see you, but you still have to ask for service. The food is ok, but considering the area, the food is probably considered great. Calm your expectations when coming here for food. Carne Asada Fries were delicious. Only noticed there was more meat to fries ratio but not a big deal because when mixed immediately with all the ingredients, the overall meal had a lot flavor. Despite the big amount of meat, sour cream, guac and cheese, the fries still had a nice crunch. You tell his needs to be eaten immediately. Wouldn't mind getting it again. When you enter....for sure you are entering Mexico. Great little market with no visible prices. I ordered shrimp tacos. There was very little shrimp on the tacos, BAD on them...1 star !! I went and ordered a burrito tripa. I have never ate a burrito that was that salty. My kids had carne asada fries. The meat was no that good. Noat as salty as the tripas but not very flavorful. Food was kind of pricy for the quality of the food. I will never order food from there again. read more

We first ordered at the front cashier and then waited near the meat counter until our order was ready. If not nearby they do announce the customers name over a speaker especially if one grabbed a table on the other side of the produce area. They served up tacos, burritos, plates and other Mexican specialties and prices were reasonable for what you get. We got two plates which came with rice, guacamole/sour cream/salsa and refried beans along with choice of corn or flour tortillas. Carnitas was lean and tasty. Al pastor plate seemed to have a slightly different seasoning than the other Mexican restaurants closer to us. It was still a good and filling. Today we stopped for a dinner at the Camarillo downtown. First we thought of pizza, but i am glad we end up picking this Mexican place. The portions are huge and it is very delicious. So much cheese and meat in quesadilla. Service is quick, our food was ready in 5 minutes. While you wait you can shop for groceries there in a little market. The atmosphere is very authentic. Went to try out their meat , their service was okey no organization in the back butcher area. I walked in no one was back there at the time. I can see all the behind the counter guys busy to I Patiently waited. I didn't see a number roll either so they would know I'm 1st to be helped once they are free to help the customer. A lady walked in a couple minutes after me and she waited as well. They helped her 1st after I been waiting there that whole time?? I read about the shrimp cerviche and I think it was good and refreshing but I am going to stick to the meat burritos. I had a bite of the chile verde as it was so yummy but it's not one you should take home it may get too soft and fall apart. We bought extras to have for lunch tomorrow!! We ordered the lengua, Al pastor, and cabeza taco plate. $11.49 for three tacos doesn't scream a deal these days, but I guess everywhere is expensive now. But as usual, this place slaps. Went in to get some orders of menudo since we are from out of town, and wanted to introduce some of our friends from Puerto Rico what the fuss is about when it comes to this caldo. We other just before 10a and I asked for 3 orders shortly after arriving, and then the cook tells me that they ran out of menudo, and refunded 2 orders. I also found out they don't include hominy with their menudo, so I had to buy a can of hominy. The employees were nice, and helped out as needed. The taste of the menudo was slightly above average.
