I like this place a lot. I had the breakfast burrito with bacon and it was flavorful and moist but not messy. They serve it with a grilled fresh green chili pepper. I shared this delight with my husband and we both enjoyed it. We tried a couple of the giant pastries that were on trays in a baking rack. You use a provided pair of tongs or plastic bag to pull your choice of pastry from the various trays. We tried two different croissant style confections and both were a hit. Though I have to say these were huge and we brought them home to eat them over a couple of days The fiilings are not overly sweet and have unique tastes like mango or pineapple. The crust is not flaky like a croissant nor is it dense like a cake but something in between with the creamy filling. There are picnic type tables outside on a narrow patio that you may have to clean off yourself if the previous patrons haven't tidied up after themselves. Inside, there's a wonderful, immaculately clean dining area with classic Mexican barrel chairs and tables. The floor is covered in dark tiles and it is very spacious. This is an order at the counter shop with the register and small bodega in the front as you walk in from the street. You place your order from a menu posted above and behind the register. That order is sent to the kitchen and your food is called out when it's ready. The market continues in the space behind the register, where you'll find all kinds of offerings from south of the border. They see you, but you still have to ask for service. The food is ok, but considering the area, the food is probably considered great. Calm your expectations when coming here for food. Carne Asada Fries were delicious. Only noticed there was more meat to fries ratio but not a big deal because when mixed immediately with all the ingredients, the overall meal had a lot flavor. Despite the big amount of meat, sour cream, guac and cheese, the fries still had a nice crunch. You tell his needs to be eaten immediately. Wouldn't mind getting it again. We first ordered at the front cashier and then waited near the meat counter until our order was ready. If not nearby they do announce the customers name over a speaker especially if one grabbed a table on the other side of the produce area. They served up tacos, burritos, plates and other Mexican specialties and prices were reasonable for what you get. We got two plates which came with rice, guacamole/sour cream/salsa and refried beans along with choice of corn or flour tortillas. Carnitas was lean and tasty. Went to try out their meat , their service was okey no organization in the back butcher area. I walked in no one was back there at the time. I can see all the behind the counter guys busy to I Patiently waited. I didn't see a number roll either so they would know I'm 1st to be helped once they are free to help the customer. A lady walked in a couple minutes after me and she waited as well. They helped her 1st after I been waiting there that whole time?? Today we stopped for a dinner at the Camarillo downtown. First we thought of pizza, but i am glad we end up picking this Mexican place. The portions are huge and it is very delicious. Went in to get some orders of menudo since we are from out of town, and wanted to introduce some of our friends from Puerto Rico what the fuss is about when it comes to this caldo. We other just before 10a and I asked for 3 orders shortly after arriving, and then the cook tells me that they ran out of menudo, and refunded 2 orders. I also found out they don't include hominy with their menudo, so I had to buy a can of hominy. The employees were nice, and helped out as needed. The taste of the menudo was slightly above average.
