What a great vibe for a weekend night out! The bar sits on an angled corner and you can see the entirety of the establishment once you walk in, with a large bar in the middle. If you come here on a Saturday and want a young atmosphere with some great drinks, you won't go wrong! Most of the cocktails are Latin-inspired but they do have a great beer menu if you aren't feeling particularly adventurous. I had the Pisco, which tasted like I was drinking straight up pineapple juice, and I loved it! We ordered a few other drinks as the night went on, be warned that a few of the cocktails do have a strong smokey accent to them so make sure to ask your bartender if you feel strongly against having a smokey taste in your beverage. If I could give zero stars I would they were beyond rude, to the point that when we ordered our first round ($200 worth) we asked for there name and the man said "my name is bartender". We ordered a couple more rounds and decency and we were on a girls day trying to have fun. I will say the place was gorgeous and most of the people were great. Reason why I am giving this place one star is because the bouncer is an asshole, from the moment I walked in, he was so rude and disrespectful! At 01:45am he came to our table and asked me to leave because they were closing... I told him my date was in the bathroom and I couldn't just leave... he told me he didn't give a shit and I had to leave and wait for my date outside.. I told him "you close at 2:00am why would I leave now?" He threatened me with physical removal and he stated he made the decision when to close the bar not the owner... I said okay and told him I was still going to wait for my date, as my date approached the table, my date asked what was going on, and he said "this ignorant bitch isn't following instructions, we are closing and you need to get the fuck out!" We were able to speak to the manager about the issue, but all he said was ok!? we expected a more apologetic response from management, but clearly he did not care. All we shared was our point of view and experience, but again, he did not care. Came here on a weeknight girls night to see the Christmas lights. It was cute and the drinks were extremely strong. I really liked the place - it felt unique the moment we walked in and the drinks lived up to that immediate feeling. Very Latin American vibe to it - both in terms of music and drink. You absolutely need better bouncers. This is a great bar, don't ruin it with the wrong people working for you. To summarize: You door man's over the top behavior, expression and body language was out of line and made me extremely uncomfortable - especially as a woman. I asked something as simple as "can my friends and I use this hand sanitizer and bring it right back" The door guy with dreads working said, "no you all have to come here and use it" I said "wait what? Lol(???)" I thought he was actually playing.......Because we were literally maybe 10ft away from him. AND ITS HAND SANITIZER. His response to me saying "wait what" while kind of laughing was: "I wouldn't try that" with raised brows, eyes opened wide af, scowl/frown and getting ready to stand up. (insane) Part of a bouncers job is to perform exactly those things to disarm or intimidate people who might cause actual trouble. This isn't nuanced it's calculated. Objectively - he was signaling all the behaviors of being ready to be physically violent...over hand sanitizer. And I'm assuming a bit of his ego, insecurity, and feelings of powerlessness. But that's another conversation. I could see if I were being belligerent or rude why they might have had an attitude or look at me ready to throw me out but nothing like that was goin down - at all. It was all maturity, respect and kindness over here. Sooooo It's lost on me why/how your man over there - could have even - calculated that behaving in any kind of threatening way should have been the appropriate response to someone asking for hand sanitizer. I love Estereo for the salsa music and the triangular bar. There are huge garage windows that open in the summer for a breezy, laidback atmosphere. Perfect for relaxing and savoring summer. I ordered the Agricole (Trois Riveres Blanc, Coconut, Passionfruit, Absinthe, Lime, Blackstrap Bitters), which tasted creamy and had a strange aftertaste. I could really taste the absinthe and bitters. The cocktails are fun and worth trying. There is also a beer list on the menu. Estereo is usually packed during the weekend nights and calm during the weekdays. Service is friendly and usually fast. Will return. read more

Estereo is a charming bar to have in the Logan Square neighborhood. We came on a Thursday night, and the place was about 40% full with people. I think that if a weeknight is feasible for you, Estereo might be more enjoyable at this time vs. when a line is out the door on the weekends. The bar is in a triangular shape, which allows for a really open feel. Estereo is focused on alcohol, and there aren't really any substantial food items. Luckily, there are plenty of places within 1-5 blocks that serve food if you get hungry. Our bartender was really sweet and was able to give useful drink recommendations. I admire the fact that this bar utilizes various kinds of Latin spirits in their cocktail's. Many of the drinks on the menu sounded promising, but I went with my bartenders recommendation and got the "Beer" cocktail. This cocktail has jalapeño tequila, beer and fresh raspberries in it. I honestly was a little hesitant at first because it's very different from other cocktails I normally order, but I made the right choice. I really dig Estereo. Its a chill place to hang out during the week or off hours, and a crazy crowded party on weekend evenings. I prefer the former but I'm sure my younger bourbon boozer nobility will prefer the latter. Its all good, for Estereo can please all the people all the time. The cocktails are great, but mostly rum based. If your sweet tooth is rotting they have a couple whiskeys - Evan Williams and Elijah Craig last time I was there - so you can sip bourbon on the rocks or have a perfectly fine Manhattan. The music is vinyl driven and predominantly space age bachelor pad tiki soundtrack on the vinyl. I love it - its a land locked beach party, baby! read more

Great open air, plenty of bar seating, bartenders who really know what they're doing, dogs chilling with their owners, and bathrooms that feel like you're inside a disco ball. What's not to love? The cocktails are a morphing of great craft cocktails with a tiki-esque spin on them. I had to look up a lot of the ingredients, which is just fine by me. Several of their popular drinks are served on tap, which speeds up the service because a lot of others are pretty labor intensive. Full disclosure: I have probably spent $200-$300 on cocktails at Estereo this summer alone. It's a cool space in a great, hip part of town with a bar that I just love sitting at plus a patio that works on warm nights. That said, my experience tonite at Estereo tells me that things might be on the decline. First--we had to wait 30 minutes to get in. This was strange because, despite being at the front of the line, 18 people walked out of the bar while our group of 4 stood dumbfounded while waiting, and no one got in. The space inside is pretty spacious, so there was no reason to hold a line at 12:25 AM. Estereo management: you understand that I can't buy drinks if I'm standing in a line for absolutely no reason right? Second--it's been about six weeks since I was last inside the bar, and prices have clearly gone up. Every cocktail now costs $11-$12...a year ago, I'm sure drinks were in the $9-$11 range. Popularity is a mutha but I didn't think it would hit in quite this way, although kudos to the bar for recognizing its popularity!! Now, the Pisco is still good and I still like the mirrored bathroom effect. But there's been a shift since my last visit...has the bar become pretentious??? read more

A beautifully decorated bar set in a prime location but with some very questionable service and entrance policies. It was 4th of July, and a group of me and my friends decided to go there after a family barbecue because a mutual DJ friend of ours was spinning disco there that night. We all agree to meet there after going home to freshen up. I then get texts from my friends saying the door person was making them wait in a line for 15 minutes even though the bar was only half filled. When we get there (12:30am) the doorman is holding up a line of what is down to 5 people, once we enter the place has a nice crowd but it is not even half full. I enjoyed the sound system and the mini dancefloor. We all sit by the window and 3 different people from our group (mind you we were all sober these would have been our first drinks of the night) all order from the same bartender on our side of the room. I have never seen someone so rude, mean and just plain angry. (She had shoulder length wavy blonde hair with big black roots and tattoos all over her arms.) We were all extremely nice and polite with her, and I watched her ignore people (not because she was serving customers she was on her phone the whole night), then barking at them when they did order, slamming glasses around and just being really really rude and unprofessional. I was considering telling the manager but decided to just let it go. I don't care how bad of a night you may be having, you are in a service industry and if you don't want to be there then go find another job. The drinks are overpriced and oversweet to be honest, but a few of my friends enjoyed the Michelada. Personally I rate service as the number one aspect in any establishment, and this doesn't look like a place that really gives 2 cents, so I'll just take my money elsewhere. read more

Place is quite small but they have an option of standing outside and enjoy the `beverages`.The drink options are put on the board as well as the beer choices. I do not know if they are changed periodically or they are Estereo staples. We had Pisco, Cachaca and Rum. All were very good, perfectly combined and I can tell the amount of used liqueur is definitely worth the price :) The prices range from $10-$12 which is very acceptable . I saw the DJ console in the very back corner so I assumed they have live music, possibly on Fridays or Saturdays. We will be definitely checking this place more often. read more

I came here on a Saturday evening in the summer and the place was packed. I like that they open windows/doors in the summer so you can enjoy the nice weather. They have bar seats and some tables in the indoor area. If you want to be outside you can stand where the windows/doors open but they don't have seating there. I had their pina colada frozen cocktail which was pretty good. I also tried their pisco which was delicious. Their cocktails are mostly around $13 which is pretty normal for Chicago. The main thing I didn't like about this place was the music was SO LOUD. And they have speakers all around so it's really hard to get away from that. Also the CTA train tracks are right next to it so every 10-15 minutes you hear the train. Other than that it was fun to hang out here for a bit. read more

I went to Estéreo with a friend on a Tuesday afternoon. Walked in and liked the ambiance. We waited for 10minutes before someone offered us a drink menu. When we asked if they served food the bartender offered a bad attitude and took the menu away from us, stating "No, this isn't a taco joint." I'm not sure if this attitude was pointed at me because of what I look like or if he is simply a sign of the socio-political times we live in, but he came off as a racist. This is a great addition to the LS strip of bars and clubs. They offer a variety of music- in español which makes it fun. The drinks run heavy on spirits from Latin America, and the decor is on the minimalist side. The fin part is going to the bathroom (stop, you perv). There is a full length mirror on both sided, and the lighting is great for the bathroom selfie fans. They don't serve food, but the Tamale guy popped in during the evening. WHat was even better is that there was a rival Tamale guy trying to work his way into the bar and being a a bit pushy, and the bartender/manager asked him to leave. I kinda felt like he was gonna take a baseball bat to his knees. I'm sure summer makes it even better, since they have the full length windows that open all the way to the ceiling. read more

I've been to Estereo a couple times and it's okay. I wouldn't seek it out but I also wouldn't say "no" if a friend wanted to check it out. There's a huge bar in the middle of the space and people sit all around it. High-top tables are along the walls. Stools can be moved around to be either at the bar or the tables. There's not a whole lot of space for anyone: guests or bartenders. Somehow the acoustics are pretty good; it's loud, but you can still have a decent conversation. The menu has something for everyone. I was delighted to have a boozy Mexican hot chocolate during my last visit. It was truly scrumptious! I've tried other drinks at Estereo that were just okay to me but might have been amazing to someone else. Besides the space issue, my biggest complaint about Estereo is that it's really hard to place an order. The bartenders make drinks at the central part of the bar and then go out along the very narrow wings to take and deliver drinks. You have to catch them when they happen to be by wherever you are to order. I bet everyone at Estereo could benefit from having a server or a busser so that the bartenders can focus on making drinks and guests could get drinks more efficiently. read more

And the windows are on 3 of the 4 sides. Lots of light in the summer and cool vibes when the weather is nice. The cocktail menu is ever changing. It's strong and delicious. Sometimes, it can be hit or miss, but generally good. The tamales man comes by at night...or should I say tamale men. There's also a nacho man that will assemble nachos. It's a great place to start the night or a chill place to end the night. It's pretty chill and can get busy. The bathroom lines can get a bit long though.
