Meh this place was OK nothing really to write home about. First of all, I asked for a mixed shot and they said they only do hard liquor which I thought was strange as i've never ran into that at a bar. The drinks were not that good and PRICEY AS HECK! I got 3 drinks for me and friends and the total was $53! In Logan Square, I feel as if that is not a good deal - I would MAYBE expect that downtown, but not there. The bar was overall mid - It wasn't crowded persay but it just wasn't my kinda vibe I guess- If you like to sit the ENTIRE night and like tequila maybe go here but I am a vodka girl so it could be my bad for not doing my research. There was one bartender however who was extremely nice and informative - I wish I remembered his name. He was really nice and helped us understand the lay of the land LOL. Nice open patio feeling while also offering a cooled environment to escape the heat They had a pisco cocktail on the menu, but everything was sweet so I asked the bartender if he could make an El Capitán. He did! It was great: just like one of my favorite versions of the drink I tried on a trip to Peru. This is a great spot, but the cocktail menu is too fruity and sweet for my tastes. Not saying they should ditch the sweeter stuff: it's the kind of room where eventually a snob like me will want something more fruity. It's a really cool vibe. The patrons and employees were all friendly. Everyone was very respectful which made the night enjoyable. Music is very loud and with everyone talking on top of one another, it's not a place to talk amongst friends. I was not impressed with the drinks. I got the Breezy ($14) and the Singani ($11). I had a shot of vodka in the breezy. It was ok. The herb leaves--I believe was mint--was very strong and you can definitely taste it in the drink. As you drink, you can also smell the aroma of the herb leaves which was a nice touch. The singani was very gingery. It almost tasted like you were drinking straight up ginger with fizz. Excellent Mexican inspired cocktail bar that will keep you coming back. Came here on the recommendation of a Logan Square local and was pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for a casual spot with a variety of craft beverages check out Estereo. Decor: The space is an older bar that has been remodeled and was very welcoming. There are open air sliding windows that would be great during the summer months. There are several bar top tables and ample seating around the bar. The staff was very attentive and answered all questions with prompt service. There are also two single use bathrooms and the line can get long at times so plan accordingly. Menu: The menu was impressive to say the least. It consisted of several house selected cocktails along with several pages of various Mexican spirits. If you like tequila and mezcal then this is the spot for you. I sampled some mezcal cocktails and my companion enjoyed the frozen drinks. Everything tasted delicious and cannot wait to try more of the options. Important to note that they DO NOT serve food. Thankfully I was prepared and brought some dehydrated venison as a snack. Price: everything was fairly priced and most of the spirits and cocktails were in the $15 dollar range. The bartenders also had a heavy hand which is worth to note. I ordered the Mezcal which was too strong for my liking but the flavor was alright, so if you like strong drinks definitely go for that. I love this place. I stumbled across it after meeting some friends for brunch across the street at The Whale years ago. The vibe is very cool here and the walls open up so it feels like you're outside but with the safety of shade and a roof over your head. Cocktails here are out of this world and they have a great selection of rotating beers! I've been here a couple times during Covid and they've done a great job for safety. They installed plastic "walls" to separate, temperature check, and security is on the ball at ensuring people are wearing masks when they aren't seated and not wandering aimlessly around the bar. The doorman, which is a black individual, is very disrespectful, moody, and subjective of who he lets in. When my friend group of 12 people approached the line he made the statement "y'all need to get in line, this isn't going to get you nowhere". We were huddled as a group, there was no one else in line, but our group then got in a straight line. Most of us got into Estereo. One of our friends who had an ID from New York, the individual checking ID's stated "nothing good comes from New York". One of our other friends held her ID next to her face instead of handing it over and because of this, the individual checking ID's at the front took the rest of us out of the bar and refused entry to the rest of the group. He could've easily communicated to hand over the ID, but he didn't. I've been to the estereo bar in the west loop and never received this treatment. The "security" at the logan square have a stick up their ass and have an attitude of self importance. They should be fired in my opinion, they're disrespectful individuals who took away the business of a group of 12 individuals. It was dead inside and we would've spent $300 minimum. Having this individual working the door is only going to drive business away. read more

Was here over the weekend and witnessed the worst customer service I could imagine. The bartender with the white t-shirt was so rude I cam guarantee I won't be coming back and I will see that my review in my neighborhood newsletter also reflects this. In addition the young lady that came in was no better. She too was rude. I would say the customers were kind and welcoming. They too commented on how rude the male bartender in the white shirt was. And also pointed out that he was being rude to a group of ladies at the table behind us. We were all shocked to then see him put a hand on a female customer which should be reported as abuse in many of the customers opinion. I spent over $100 in thirty minutes and can guarantee I will never step foot in this establishment again and will see that I place a few use everywhere warning others of this bartender. I feel like an old lady starting out with this but: the music was too god damned loud! We came in at 5:15 for a post work drink and my god we couldn't hear each other or the bartender! The volume was appropriate for a 2am dance floor, not an early evening spot, but that's my opinion. All that aside: nice atmosphere, good work with the theme and overall vibe. We came here after the dinner solely because it was late, close by, and one level for our friend in a wheelchair. My friend has very aggressive cancer and is wheelchair bound, but can lift herself up (by her arms) to sit in a barstool. We were having a decent time sitting and catching up. When the bar closed she slid back down into her wheelchair and I pushed her toward the door while she finished her drink. She turned to the bar to set her glass on the counter and the bartender said (in the most accusatory tone;) "You were standing up ordering drinks. I saw you. My jaw dropped. Aghast, I said "excuse me?" Him: "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to her" I said "she was sitting on a stool..." Him "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to her...I can check the cameras" He said he could check the cameras... For what? She cannot walk. She can sit. It's not some scam, she isn't asking for free drinks. The blatant ignorance of the comment. In what world, in what capacity, is accusing a person in a wheelchair or who needs assistance that they are lying ok? Even if her legs were simply broken, you do not accuse someone of not needing their wheelchair. I unloaded in disbelief and utter disgust on this guy. Unhinged. The rest of the staff did nothing but act like we were crazy for being upset. No one would give me a higher up contact. The GM called it a "misunderstanding." Ignorance and discrimination is not a misunderstanding. My friend went home in tears. Pray for health my friend. Heaven forbid he ever gets sick and lose the ability to use your legs. Karma is real. I have spoken to a number of people who told me they had a bad experience with the same bartender, and how much they hate these bars in both locations because of the staff. The door staff are complete trash. i've been coming here for 2 years and absolutely love this place. but last night was appalling. I arrived with my girlfriend and her friend. The door guy told us we had to wait, and said "one in one out." Well after waiting a few minutes two people came out, i sent my gf and her friend in. i waited about 5 more min and one guy came out...so i tried to go in. Definitely a fun bar. One of many that I hit up with my friends on New Year's Eve. I loved the decorations and many elves on the shelf hanging from the lights. I also love how the bar basically is the centerpiece of the room. You can access it no matter where you're standing, it wraps around the whole interior. The bartenders are nice and attentive too. I had some sweet, slightly lemon-y cocktail I think. It was the bomb. My friends enjoyed their drinks too. I think this is the place to go for a good, fun cocktail with friends or on a date! They even had a jukebox and great music going so the vibe was hot til the very end. Yes, we got kicked out at closing but it's New Year's! It's what you do. New favorite place, now I have to move. Love this South American coffee and cocktail bar! The bar itself had a very Argentinian vibe, great tunes and DELICIOUS cocktails. They were on the pricey side ($11-12), but they are STRONG, and I wouldn't recommend to myself that I consume more than 2-3. I LOVE that the building opens up to the sidewalk, love that the train goes right by, love that it's in a lively area with a lot of foot traffic. Love that it is dog friendly! I have been a fan of this bar for quite some time, never had a bad experience until last night... The bouncer was an absolute asshole and wouldn't let the rest of my friends in because one of my friends inquired how long the wait outside was. Considering it was chilly outside, and the bar didn't appear to be really busy (I've been to Estereo when it's been much busier...), it was a valid question to ask how long the wait was. The bouncer would not let her or the rest of my friends in because they didn't want "bad energy" in the bar. I can understand if there was rowdiness on our end, or if my friend was genuinely rude, but she truly didn't intend to cause any trouble by any means and she apologized for how she may have come off. I understand that people have bad days, and I generally like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but the lack of professionalism in this situation was very upsetting and I will not be returning, nor will the rest of my group. We had a decent sized group, so it feels like a poor business decision to refuse entry based off something so trivial. I know not everyone who works at Estereo is a reflection of our singular experience with last night's bouncer, but how the situation was handled was sour enough to create some damage. I'm very disappointed as Estereo was one of my go-to spots in Logan, but after this experience, I will not be returning. read more

I have never left a Yelp review before, but feel this is warranted. I am from the New York City area and have a Connecticut ID. I was visiting my friend in the area and he took me to Estereo on a Saturday Night. I showed the bartender my ID, and he proceeded to Google what a Connecticut ID looked like, then turned me down because "they have seen a lot of Connecticut fakes lately." I turn 24 this month and even showed the bouncer my business card to try to prove that I am in fact, an adult. Please do something about your bouncing staff. I was looking forward to trying this bar, but was denied by a bouncer who needed a google search to determine that my ID was "fake". I wish I didn't have to write this review but here I am. The overall atmosphere was very relaxed and enjoyable. The cocktails themselves were very strong. I'm very happy to welcome Estereo to the 'hood! At first glance, the drinks seem a bit pricey for Logan Square - most being $11-12. However, once you start sipping on your cocktail you'll soon see that the pours are strong which may well justify the prices. Honestly, we had 5 drinks between two of us and left.....quite buzzed! Thank goodness for living within walking distance! I don't normally like coffee but loved their Iced Coffee cocktail. Every cocktail they offer has cool and unique ingredients and I think they really shine in that regard. Their thang is Latin American inspired cocktails and they do it right. The Agricole was soooo delicious! Ingredients included guava, absinthe and ginger beer blended in just the right way. The Mezcal is anotha stunna! Great ingredients and so yum! Cachaca was a slightly more forgettable drink but still liked it quite a bit. How about their frozen slushie drink? Touted as a Cuban Style Daiquiri, it's on point, just as all the other drinks are. Every drink I tried, I'd get again without hesitation. That's the highest compliment I can give when it comes to food or drinks. I really liked the atmosphere at Estereo. If it's warm out, all of the windows open completely up and you feel like you're on a Latin American patio rather than the chill Chicago bar you're actually in. The slightly elevated bar has an interesting shape to it with chairs all around and there also some round high tops around the bar for parties bigger than 2. Loved the bartenders and they handled the drunk patrons hitting on them in such a classy way. One of the guys got hit on three times while we were there! What a trooper. Estereo has a crazy cocktail menu with very innovative ingredients and combinations, although many people around me didn't seem to be enjoying the drinks and were asking to try other options instead. I wasn't super thrilled with my drink either. Their bathrooms are Unisex which is nice, but there's only two, so there's alwayss a line.
