I recently switched eye insurance companies and found Esther Ahn Optometry as one that accepts VSP. The clinic is very clean and organized, and the service is very professional. Before performing any service, they give you a quick rundown of your copay, what your insurance will cover (lenses/glasses/contacts), and the pricing of everything, so you will not be surprised by any billing at the end. They don't try to upsell you on anything, and you are always welcome to decline any service that is beyond your budget. Don't feel pressured to accept anything that isn't comfortable with you! And they really make sure you are aware and comfortable with what you are paying for. Dr Patel was my optometrist and she explained all the procedures and everything really well. The front desks, interns, and all employees really take care of you. I'll be sure to go back here for my annual appointments from now on. FYI, for VSP members, my new glasses costs around $240 (out of pocket and after insurance coverage), which includes new lenses, new frames, polycarbonate, UV protection, scratch resistances, and anti-reflective. Be aware that my coverage will be different from yours. This is just to give you a rough estimate that even with insurance, I still had to pay for new glasses. Still, I would not skimp out on the health of my eyes, since I will be using these forever and my next appointment would be a year from now. Don't cheap out on your health and especially if it's only once a year! You pay for good quality. I picked up my new glasses within 7 days. Summary: - CLEANLINESS. This place started off great but their quality of work has significantly decreased over the years. I recently went and have had to come back four times already because 1) my contact prescription was not accurate 2) had to come back for a follow up 3) I had to return my glasses because the prescription was too strong and was told to bring them back 4) said my contacts were ready and in fact were not Kevin is great, he is knowledgeable and tries to get it right for the customer. Every time I have gone they cannot find me in their system or cannot find my lenses. I am currently having issues where they shipped my year supply to my home, says they were delivered but have been lost. I do not live nearby and kept coming here because their office is clean, however I cannot justify taking a sick day from work to come here to just be told they do not have my items and I have to come back another day. read more

So I want to start off by saying the optometrist that work here all get a 5/5 especially Dr Patel. She is a great optometrist and super friendly. Now the staff here is where I had to lock down the stars. I have had a few who are super friendly but there is one specific person who did not seem like he wants to be working and honestly he should not be working where he has to deal with customers. He is a young Hispanic man and I wish I would have gotten his name. I came to get glasses here and they made a mistake on them so they had to send them back. The first time I picked them up a very friendly man helped me adjust my glasses and made them fit perfectly but they they had to be sent back. Not problem they made all the corrections that needed to be made. The Second time is when the problem occurred. When I came in I saw the guy who helped me the first time and he recognized me and I should have just waited for him. The young man who helped me out told me try on my glasses and they did not fit correctly. I told him I needed them tighter. The the goes on to make them super tight where they were hurting me. I told him these were way to tight and he had to adjust them. He gave me attitude and seemed like he did not wand to do it. All he did was adjust them a little because when I put them on they were just as tight. I told him where they were tight and it was as if he didn't believe me but he want to adjust them any ways and he made sure they were super loose this time. Honestly I was so done with his effort and attitude that I just said ok and left even though they were not correct. I had to go somewhere else to get them adjusted. I'm sorry but if I'm spending my hard earned money I expect them to fit perfectly and with good customer service and I did it receive that. Again the Drs here 5/5. Some staff may also get a 5/5 but this one worker 1/5 and it's the reason I had to give this such a low rating. read more

Currently, they are taking individuals by appointment only. And they are taking all the necessary measures to keep their patients safe, which I'm grateful for. All staffs are wearing masks. They're meticulous with sanitizing stations. They give great directions as to where you should take a seat while waiting to space individuals out. It was a great first experience for me. The store front is located in the same plaza as the Sprouts. The store itself is not that large. And it's filled with a wide selection of glasses, more than many other places. But due to the wide selection, the display is not that great. I do appreciate that they have their glasses out so you can try them on unlike some places where you have to ask an employee to open up a case. Ease of access. The customer service is great. I'm sure many individuals have been taken care by Kevin and he's great at his job. Super knowledgeable and informative. They maintain sanitary practices like masking up inside, sanitizing glasses that were tried by patients, providing hand sanitizers at the entrance. Dr Esther Ahn is such a lovely person. Its 2021.. Been a patient here since March 2013.. or even further back? She is a very kind eye doctor, always welcoming. Theres been a turnover of staff over the years but for the most part, theyre usually very professional, great manners and customer service skills. Only complaint is they get SO busy, even with appointments, ive had to wait. BUT.. once its your turn, they dont make you feel rushed, they do give you their time/attention. I have been a customer here since the 2000s and have always been more than satisfied with the service and care I received. Dr. Ahn and the staff are very professional and helpful, and they genuinely have the best interest of their customers in mind. I recently had difficulty getting the prescription right for my contact lenses, and everyone in the office worked with me so tirelessly to make sure I was 100% happy with the contacts. Despite requiring multiple visits and phone calls to the office (especially during the pandemic when they could only accommodate limited number of customers a day), I always felt welcomed and got the help I needed. The office is always clean, and with COVID they have been especially conscious about sanitization and social distancing. They require temperature checks before entering the office. Esther Ahn Optometry - GREY GUCCI!! - Optometrists Near Me - Cerritos, California

As much as I want to support the local businesses, I highly do NOT recommend doing business that lacks integrity and blames their customers. I resorted to filing a complaint with the California Board of Optometry (Board) for the reason below. I've visited this optometry in the past to get an eye exam (contacts and lens) and to order new contact lens and spectacle lens using insurance. The eye exams provided by the licensed optometrists have been great without an issue. But the latest experience was questionable and distasteful in regards to their business practice. The optometrist had completed the eye exam and afterward, the staff (optician?) guided me to another room to conduct the optomap exam ($49 not covered by insurance). Never did the optician informed me that there is an extra cost to this extra service. Afterward, had a consultation with another optician to replace the lens on existing glasses, and it went downhill from here. I've asked if it's possible to get my pair of backup glasses cleaned and shown him the lens that had spray paints on it. Keep in mind the lens is not smeared in white paint but the overspray getting to the lens, tiny dots of white paint. The optician said he will try and came back with what appeared to have rendered the lens useless, ruining the top coat with smears. Mind you there were no smears on the top coating at all. The optometrist refused to fix this issue and the optician blamed the aging and wear and tear. If the optician was experienced and helps patients daily cleaning their glasses, he should have known better by advising the patient that they're unable able to remove it rather than ruining the lens. I had to visit the optometrist the second to bring up this issue with the manager, but they said they will only offer a special discount (which I've never received), and the owner, Dr. Ahn didn't bother acknowledging me during this visit when I was the only customer during the Covid19 lockdown The first visit, which was unnecessary and a waste of my time, was because the optician forgot to add the transition/photochromic order to the spectacle lens so I had to drive to the store for them to correct their mistake. After filing a formal complaint with the Board did Dr. Ahn emailed me to offer the free replacement of the backup glasses. The complaint against Dr. Esther Ahn Optometry was for several reasons but I'll only point to one violation here. The optometry has been incorrectly issuing spectacle lens prescriptions for only one year rather than two years as required by the California Business and Professions Code §2541.1(b). The optometry responded to the Board that their software vendor had set up the settings to defaulted to one year. In my opinion, the optometry was negligent by not verifying and changing the software setting. This only means the optometry has been prescribing incorrect spectacle lens prescriptions to hundreds and thousands of patients for however many years. Please check your prescription and if this optometry had prescribed you for only one year recently, file a complaint with the Board. read more

Great service, very informative and care given. Dr. Ahn is soft spoken and gentle but very knowledgeable and patient. I got a comprehensive eye exam with the optomap and she explained in detail, the health of my eye. When it came to selecting new frames, Kevin was excellent in providing great customer service. From picking out my glasses to walking me through my VSP coverage and what is included. He helped adjust my new frames and even my old ones. Ok, I can be boring and tell you about how Dr. Ahn figured out my old contacts weren't the right size, notified me of a bunch of bad scratches on my eyeball caused by my dried out, ill-fitting contacts, and how she fixed everything. Is that what you want to hear? Is it? FINE. I was impressed. I was impressed because for the past 18 myopic years, I had no idea that the "which-one's-clearer-A-or-B" test was to determine astigmatism. Dr. Ahn was very informative. I was impressed because she explained Lasik, gave me a referral and then was very honest with me, saying that if I had any hesitation, better not do it because she wouldnt want me to regret it. Awesome! She kept a straight face when I kept flinching during that eye-pressure test where the machine puffs air at each eye. I hate that test. Everything went smoothly as well - I ordered contacts, they arrived the next day and I picked them up on the weekend since they're open on Saturdays. Bonus: located next to a boba store, so you can stumble around blindly with a fancy beverage in hand when your eyes are dilated. read more

I'm so happy that I found an optometrist that i trust. Dr. Esther Ahn is awesome yelpers! She makes you so relaxed, explains everything to you(in simple terms), and always has a smile on her face!! I had my first ever eye exam this Monday that just passed and it went so smoothly. They have updated testing equipment and the ladies that did my tests were so nice! Her entire Office staff were wonderful and I felt so comfortable as if I new them for years. One of the workers or eye nurses -I don't know if that's a thing- it was a guy, I forgot his name, helped me pick my lenses, and even though they were busy with all the other clients, he took his time out to thoroughly explain the difference between tint sunglasses and polorized sunglasses. When i told him i needed regular eyeglasses and Sunglasses he explained that it was better to use my sucky insurrance to pay for the sunglasses and for me to get my regular eyeglasses with their package deal that they had going on for $90. He also helped me pick out my Sunglasses and regular eye glasses and didnt complain but encouraged me to try on more styles. let's just say I learned alot thanks to him. The awesome part of this whole experience there was that it was Korean owned, most of all the clients who came in were korean, all the workers conversed in korean and they even had a whole section of glasses that were made in korea!! - this might sound ridiculous and meaningless but to me I LOVED and soaked up everything I can in there. I'm currently in my Korean mode, honestly, I've emerged myself in the whole Korean culture and this place just took me over the top. Now all I have to do is learn a little more korean so I can converse with them and the clients the next time I go...I kinda felt like I was in korea for a minute...it was a nice minute...plus, I ended up getting reading glasses from korea!!!
