The new space is located on Monroe Ave and could NOT be more convenient. Make a quick left or right off the expressway and BOOM - there's easy parking lot around the back where the main entrance into the studio is. The studio is primarily focussed on dance for kiddos and teens, but I've been lucky to take some of the evening classes they offer for adults, all of which have been outstanding - even for me who is more of an "enthusiastic mover" than dancer. I love how convenient it is for me to make a month-long, once a week commitment to try something new and get moving in a new way. I am currently enjoying adult hip hop class and teacher Solange makes class FUN, accessible, and inclusive of all abilities. I can't recommend enrolling your kiddo here OR taking a class yourself enough. They offer a full schedule of ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, hip hop, and more for young learners, and sessions for adults are changed up throughout the year. I saw the most recent production of The Nutcracker with the RCB, and as always, I was blown away by the intricacy of the choreography and the thought that was put into every detail, from the costumes, to the set, to the lighting. This year, I noticed some changes to the choreography that I really loved--they are always striving to improve and find new methods of storytelling! This year, in addition to the performances at Eastman Theatre with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, there were also performances held at Canandaigua Academy. I very much appreciated that because the tickets were at a much lower price point, which allowed me to be able to enjoy the performance, and I'm sure many other people who wouldn't have necessarily been able to attend the pricier performances at Eastman. I'm so glad that Rochester has such a thriving professional dance community, and I can't wait to see where it goes next!

I just cancelled my membership after years and switching studios. They are constantly cancelling…read moreclasses and have went downhill in regard to cost and last minute cancellations for low attendance because they can't get as much money would of the class as possible even though we already pay $100 a month. There's studios that offer free open pole, cost less, and have my class time I've been going to for years still available.

Instructors, the front desk, their advertising and everything will tell you that unused classes will roll over to the following month, but no one will ever explain to you there's a cap to the amount that roll over until after you're automatically charged hundreds of dollars for months of classes that don't exist. If you explain to them your family member is dying and you were too busy taking care of their hospice plans to attend classes and had no idea this policy existed and ask if there's anything they can do to help you, they will tell you that you signed a contract and should've read it better. I have loved the classes here, but my heart is broken over their lack of communication and compassion. This is incredibly unfair, and I just want you to know the reality of what you're signing up for before you get trapped by predatory policies and fine print no one will ever mention like I did.

The friends she has made over the years have become her second family as well as the teachers. They don't push the kids to do more than they can do but they will make sure the kids are not just going through the motions. They have fun and make it fun for the kids. If you're looking for a studio that will teach your child the fundamentals as well as let them be their own person.. this is the studio for you.

They promote their studio as inclusive, positive & friendly but it hasn't been that way for a while. There is now an atmosphere of favoritism, bullying that is not addressed by the director. This place is super fun. I recently signed up for a beginners belly dancing class (at the constant…read moreencouragement of a friend) and I am really enjoying the experience. Michelle, the owner and instructor, is friendly, fun and encouraging, and she makes the experience very accessible. While you can 'drop in' to classes, I recommend signing up for a session to see what it's about and really get the most for your money. I am not able to actually attend all the classes in the session due to work travel, so I worked it out with Michelle to just pay for the sessions I can attend at the per-session pricing. So far I have not been disappointed. Each class starts with a short warm up, followed by repetitive dance moves. We seem to focus on one or two moves that we do over and over with different music and in different combinations. Each class is different. There is work with the veil, so we get an arm and upper back workout, and there is always a part at the end which is sort of 'watch and follow', where Michelle strings together everything we learned into what feels like a choreographed dance. And Michelle also always leaves a few minutes at the end for questions. The variety of ladies in the class ranges from young (20s) to mature (60s or older), with every race and size represented. We all have a great time in an atmosphere that is fun and not at all judge-y. I love the music and the fact that Michelle provides all the props, like the skirts with jingly coins and veils. The only thing to note is that the parking lot is small and since there are many classes running at the same time (between Nu Mvmnt yoga studio and Writers and Books which share the lot), it might be hard to find a spot. There is street parking in the front of the building on University and the back on Atlantic, as well as on the side.

Every time the manager quits others step in and power trip out. It's very strange. Also, from what I hear... they REMOVE "negative" reviews, so the public does not have a complete picture. Isn't that censorship? Isn't that abusive. I'm telling you, go to LA Fitness near this club. Significantly cheaper, pretty much the same services and much, much better parking! Plus LA Fitness doesn't remove comments they don't fully embrace!

DO NOT JOIN LA FITNESS!!!…read more The reason are as follows: 1. When I initially talked to my salesperson he told me that the club was getting a red light sauna as the current one was not working, I assumed it would be soon but the sauna has not worked in 10 weeks since I have been a member which is absurd/ridiculous for a fitness club...I used to own a fitness club with indoor tennis, large fitness room, (at the time one of the biggest in upstate N.Y.), aerobics, pro shop, nice locker rooms with a sauna...if the sauna ever broke down which happened frequently as members would pour water on the coils and short circuit them I would FedEx the appropriate parts and get it fixed ASAP...plus the salesperson was not working there days after I joined so he probably knew that and said anything to sell a membership and assuming get a commission 2. In my opinion the club is oversold with memberships as no matter what time I come in there to work out it's tough getting on any piece of equipment as there's so many people working out 3. I had a member try to walk out with my jacket which I moved around with me as I worked out as didn't want to use your locker rooms 4. I don't want to use your locker room as the one day I forgot my flip flops and I got a wart on the bottom of my foot from your locker room floor 5. The main reason I joined your club is that you had a sauna versus Planet Fitness which did not 6. I have since joined Planet Fitness, both your club and PF are about the same distance and time from my house on East Ave and PF has probably 3x the equipment and space of your club, better machines with at least 2 of every plate loaded machine which usually means no waiting for a machine to work out on + they have more free weights than yours 7. Numerous times your club was dirty, noticeably the floors on the fitness areas 8. I tripped over your vacuum cord which has a 30-40' extension cord...I'm almost 77 and luckily I caught myself and didn't fall which could have been a lawsuit...I own a 4,000 sq. ft. home with 3 stories, (1875 house), and I have the same vacuum which is cordless for safety and ease of moving around and the last club I belonged to, (Midtown), had the cordless backpack vacuum so members wouldn't trip over a long cord and for ease of movement and safety and was faster as no cord to deal with...if I can have a cordless one as a homeowner I'm sure a big corporation like LA Fitness can afford one 9. I previously emailed the manager or so I thought but it was a generic email to LA Fit on a Friday and she never got back to me, I was told at the front desk that I could email her directly from the web site but it was a common email only...after I complained to her (Abby) at the front desk the next Monday she probably looked for it and got back to me in a day or so after that...I've taught small business administration and entrepreneurship at the college level and waiting 4-5 days to respond to a customer's complaint is not acceptable in a well run company...when I complained to her about the sauna she were cordial but kept giving me the run around about it and when it would be fixed and refused to give me any club credit for lack of services - the sauna - which was the main reason I joined your club 10. So I'm leaving LA Fitness and their lack of getting the sauna fixed in 10 weeks means they will lose my membership for many years to come, I've worked out and been an athlete since the 4th grade and will never stop belonging to a gym so LA lost thousands of dollars on my future membership and after the review I post which will be much of the above, you will lose numerous future members and cost the club 10's of thousands of dollars 11. The spin bikes are from maybe 2005 at the best and they are the worst spin bikes I have ever used in 25+ years...and they have maybe 2-3 spin classes a week, I only ever saw one 12. This "Gym" is like a used car lot from 1970 with sales people having desks to sit you down to hard sell you a membership for a "special deal" if you join that day...lying about anything to sell a membership and have that same slimy feeling of those old time used car sales people 13. And when I walked into the club and talked to Abby (East Ave Club in Brighton) I was told that initially I had paid for the first and last month so I have been billed for an extra month upfront so if you want to cancel they get an extra month out of you...what a scam from old time car dealers and scummy salespeople from clubs in the 1970's + 1980's and 1990's Mark McCarthy
