My wife had the fillet mignon with the fig demi, potato gratin and it again was completely spot on for tenderness, seasoning and flavor. It was delicious as well. My 4 year old basically demanded we get the chocolate cake for dessert and they said it was delicious. It definitely was large enough to shared with 3 or 4 people if you wanted a few tastes. I was hoping for sweeping views of Charleston but the scenery didn't quite live up to my expectations. One thing to note is that the nearby stables for Old South Carriage Company are close enough that you'll occasionally catch... well... the aromas drifting through the air. Not exactly what I was hoping to pair with my cocktail. Overall, I'm glad we stopped in for a drink, but I don't think it's a place I'd go out of my way to visit again. I love breakfast food and seek it out, but to this day I have not found a comparison to the pancakes at woodlands. I may go again just for the pancakes! Read on: They let us order room servicez since we arrived late, but that was a JOKE!....We love our fancy dinners-but this was one of those places where the salad was 3 individual inch sized pieces of Iceberg lettuce (1"x1"), with a 'buttermilk foam' and various toppings like fricken pistachios (eww) Oh, 1 of the lil' towers fell over when the waiter wheeled the table into our room, He got all distressed and wanted to take the salad back to the kitchen to have them make another! We were like "Oh, it's OK! OMGoodness, it was crazy to think some people might get upset about that!!" We could only laugh (his Caesar salad was a handful of romaine, that was SHOVED into 2 square 'crackers' that had an open circle in them, the 2 cracker squares were about 2 inches apart....THAT was the 'Caesar salad, and it had a DROP of dressing squeezed onto the plate! I could have taken pictures of the good drinks we ordered. But instead I snapped the interior, so you get a sense of how the owners have paid attention to every detail. There are two separate indoor areas, and an outdoor courtyard with tables, games, and a children's picnic table, all lush with an assortment of plants. Their attentiveness carries through to their rest room at Seene! I've never been motivated to show one before, but theirs is so roomy and well appointed that it deserved a shot too. That said, I found the drink prices to be quite high, especially compared with other specialty coffee shops. I've visited coffee shops all over the world and rarely come across prices as high as Seene's. With drinks in the $9-$11 range and cold foam costing $3, I was curious to see whether the ingredients and quality would justify the cost. I ordered an ube latte with oat milk and noticed they were using Kirkland oat milk from Costco. The matcha itself was slightly bitter, and the ube flavor was barely noticeable. My husband ordered an iced chai, which was made with Tazo chai concentrate, a product that can easily be purchased at most grocery stores. I completely understand paying a premium for high-quality, specialty ingredients, but at this price point, I would expect the ingredients and execution to feel exceptional. With so much competition from other coffee shops offering specialty drinks at more standard prices, I personally didn't feel that the drinks at Seene justified the price tag. Beautiful space, but unfortunately the drinks didn't live up to the price for me.
