Had dinner here for the 1st time with my family last night, and it didn't disappoint. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly, as was the rest of the staff. The appetizers were very good although I didn't grasp the concept behind sweet calamari it was cooked perfectly and tender, the escargot were buttery and delicious. I had the chicken with the cognac sauce. (I know not very exciting) but I've been in the mood for a roasted piece of chicken for a little bit...and not only was the chicken expertly prepared and cooked but it tasted amazing, seasoned perfectly. The gnocchi and asparagus that accompanied it were delicious as well. It was single-handedly one of the best chicken dishes I've had. My wife had the fillet mignon with the fig demi, potato gratin and it again was completely spot on for tenderness, seasoning and flavor. It was delicious as well. My 4 year old basically demanded we get the chocolate cake for dessert and they said it was delicious. It definitely was large enough to shared with 3 or 4 people if you wanted a few tastes. The house is really exquisite inside and you can tell great care was taken in renovations. Our first visit was for "Mercy at the Kersey." This is a special event every Thursday where the participating group sits at the bar and there is a surprise menu with 4 courses with wine pairings. You're at the mercy of the chef and whatever he feels like making that day. We had a wonderful time. Our server/bartender was wonderful and the food was so yummy! Being a surprise, it made me a little nervous, but even if it was something I would never order for myself, everything was still delicious! We stopped in another evening for a regular dinner service. Our server was great, very attentive, and the food was so good. Definitely a good experience and a little "nicer" dinner than many of the chains in Summerville. The menu is solid with a good variety, and everything we had was pretty good overall. Parking can be a little tricky depending on the time, so just plan for that. We were able to get in easily for Sunday brunch without a reservation, but I'd still recommend checking ahead just in case it gets busier. Went here for lunch. Beautiful home turned into restaurant. Good service. My food was pretty decent and I was thankful that they had a vegan option for me. The price point was good for the quality. My son got a French dip with french fries and a mocktail. He felt that the mocktail was a little too sweet and the lack of ranch for his french fries was disappointing. However, the server brought him addressing that was substitute enough. His French dip he felt was just okay. They only provided a small ramekin of the au jus, so he had to ask for extra just to be able to dip his whole sandwich. My mother-in-law got two course lunch special. She felt like the tomato soup, sandwich (some kind of fish) and side salad was good but not the best she's ever had. Overall, I would say definitely give the place a try. read more

Had a lovely family group luncheon at Kersey House. Loved this southern home with all the character & charm. Our server was great, and food and drinks came out faster than expected. I didn't love my meal (salmon chopped salad- the fish was cooked well, but the salad was sorta a hodgepodge of ingredients and the dijon dressing was an odd pairing). This is large old home is a great setting for couples' night out. We ate upstairs and it was early, we had the room to ourselves. Cassidie our server was excellent. I was extremely disappointed in the changes to the presentation of the Lobster Bisque. In All the pictures you see a bowl with a beautiful puff pastry rising over top. The waiters overheard me talking to the wife about how disappointed I was in in the appearance and she explained it was still the same dish just in a different bowl. I respectfully disagree in that while I started to eat it, the bread was like a hard biscuit, difficult to breakup without spilling the soup over the bowl. The soup itself was very good, but as the saying goes, "You eat with your eyes first" and the new dish just does not look nearly as appetizing, nor does it eat that way. I highly recommend to the chef that they go back to how they served this dish previously. The wife and I split a Baked Escargot, garlic butter, with a thin bread topping which is a perfect way to serve this dish. The best way to eat it, is to flip the Escargot to the top and the bread on the bottom where it can soak up the wonderful Garlic butter. The wife and I also split the Ceviche, with cut up pieces of shrimp, calamari, bay scallop in a basil vinaigrette. The chunks of apple provided a bright and clean taste on the palette. I think the dish is designed to be eaten with bit of salmon roe with each bite for a bit of salt and perfect balance For my entrée, I had the Sea Scallop Risotto. This is one of the best-looking dishes I have ever been served. The dish had plenty of large Scallops, over a bed of Risotto, with roasted sweet cherry tomato, asparagus, shaved Parmesan. The dish was spot on The wife had the Short Rib Bourguignon that included roasted fingerling potato, asparagus, mushrooms, in a bordelaise sauce. She loved the roasted fingerling potatoes, but thought the dish was under salted, and the bordelaise sauce missed the mark. Overall a very nice meal read more

Visited Kersey House for the first time last night and from the check-in to the end of the meal, it was a delightful experience! I wanted to treat my fiancé to a nice birthday dinner and Kersey House staff pulled all the stops! The handwritten card and complimentary gelato was so thoughtful, I appreciate how the crew made him feel special. The menu offers a variety of options to please any dietary needs. The menu notates gluten free, dairy free items and even has a separate vegetarian menu! Our server Nathan was attentive plus the crew that brought our food and birthday goodies were so hospitable. For appetizer we got the fried calamari that came in bite sized pieces plus a fraîche to dip in and the crispy soft pork belly with pickled items. For my entree, I got the Kersey salad with a goat cheese roll and lobster bisque. The Boursin dressing complemented the greens perfectly. My fiancé enjoyed his steak frites lightly salted. I booked a Christmas Eve reservation for our family of 7 a few days before and am so glad I did! We had a very short wait, which was absolutely fine, and then we were led into a small private room upstairs. This worked out perfectly because we have a younger diner with us and she sometimes get excitable in new places or when she gets bored, so the room allowed her some freedom while not bothering other diners. Our server and the assistants were all very upbeat and friendly (even while working the Christmas Eve rush)! I started with the Winter Solstice Sip mocktail. I really appreciate when the bar staff puts effort into the mocktail menu! I ended up getting a second one, I loved it so much! I've been a couple of other restaurants by this chef and looked over the menu in advance to know what to expect. I went with the fried shrimp, cheese gougeres, and the beef filet. The shrimp were cooked very well and I scraped the plate for the citrus beurre blanc because it was amazing (seriously, order a baguette and get it all)! The cheese gougeres are perfect as a shareable appetizer - light and cheesy at the same time. My beef was the star of the show - my brussels had a nice crisp and the fig demi glaze really elevated the flavor of the beef. Everyone at the table cleared their plates and raved about it being a great Christmas Eve meal! The meal took longer than I anticipated but they were slammed and we constantly had drink refills, so no worries. The croque-monsieur is my favorite, and the fried calamari, Kersey salad, and baked escargot are all solid choices. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming. The only small thing I've noticed is that the servers sometimes seem to be standing around quite a bit, which can feel like there may be a little overstaffing or downtime -- but it doesn't take away from the overall experience. The food is phenomenal and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We got ceviche and calamari appetizers. I can't pick which one was better. They were both so delicious! The Kersey House is a beautiful addition right in the heart of downtown Summerville. They also have many areas to choose for placement from the bar, main rooms, and balcony. We started off our afternoon with the Ceviche for the appetizer. Different than the Ceviche than we are used to but in a pleasant way. The notes of the apple and lime really shined through along with the tang from the pickled onions. Very nice touch to this dish. For our main courses, we ordered the Le Parisian Turkey sandwich & the Moules Frites. The Turkey sandwich looked very appetizing but hard to eat. The bread it was on was VERY hard and the sandwich was stuffed to the point of everything sliding out every time you took a bite... THEN, my friend pointed out that there was mold on the bread of the sandwich. To some people this might not be a huge issue but for an upscale restaurant we expected a little more. The Moules Frites were very tasty, cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce. All though I am a little disappointed with how our dining experience went, I am willing to give the Kersey House another try for dinner. read more

We had the Lobster Bisque, Mussles, Steak Frites, and creme brulee. Everything is very similar to their other restaurants. Good, but not spectacular. The Lobster Bisque was my favorite. So much flavor. Something I would definitely order again. This is a fairly new restaurant, since it recently opened a few months ago. It's located in downtown Summerville, SC. It is very spacious and you can easily walk around without any concerns about tables being too close to each other. It has indoor and outdoor dining, both first and second floor. In addition, it has an outdoor area in the back of the building for special occasions and or catering. We went there without reservations and it was an easy process to get a table. The staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and on point with the attention to detail. They noticed my wife was cold and immediately offered to move us to another area without us asking for it. The decorations are clean, slick and modern and preserved the history of the house in Summerville. We had a wonderful experience with the dinner since it was carefully arranged and cooked. We order french onion soup, La Baguette, Short Ribs Bourguignon, Duck Confit, French fries, Macaroni au Fromage.
